20/07/2026 - Fine again - Afternoon Weather Forecast UK– Met Office Weather

[00:00:01]Hello, the dry spell continues, not just for Monday, but in fact for most of the week ahead, all thanks to a chunky area of high pressure sitting out in the Atlantic, dominating our weather from the west. Around high pressure, the winds go clockwise, so the winds are continuing to feed down generally from the north. That's why it's not as hot as it has been for much of the summer, and also why coast of northern Scotland and down the eastern side of England at times will see a bit more cloud. The cloud thick enough for a little bit of light rain at times over northern Scotland, perhaps feeding into the north coast of Northern Ireland, but the vast majority staying dry. The cloud tending to come and go over northern parts, plenty of sunny spells, and temperatures responding to that sunshine. Yes, it's a northerly flow, so the air is not as hot as it has been, but you know, it is July, and so temperatures in that sunshine will still get up into the mid-20s, probably southeast Wales, southwest England getting to 26, perhaps 27 Celsius. Where the breeze is coming in from the sea, generating a bit more cloud and keeping things a little bit cooler. As we go through the evening and overnight, not a great deal of change. I think we could just see some thickening cloud coming into the extreme east of England, Norfolk, Suffolk, perhaps the Kent coastline seeing one or two showers, and we'll continue to see thicker cloud in northern Scotland, so a bit more light rain and drizzle from Caithness and Sutherland there across to the Outer Hebrides and still into the north coast of Northern Ireland, but not going to amount to much at all. Most places dry, long clear spells, reasonably comfortable nights as well, temperatures dipping down mostly into the low teens. On to Tuesday, it's a very similar story, perhaps a bit cloudier, certainly to begin with across East Anglia and Kent. Again, one or two light showers, thick cloud over northwest Scotland providing some drizzly rain at times over the Highlands. Same goes for Northern Ireland, perhaps a little cloudier along the north coast with some spots of rain.

[00:01:54]We might just see one or two showers break out over the Pennines drifting over northeast England's for the afternoon. But again, rain amounts not really very useful answer. Simply the vast majority will stay dry and fine with long spells of sunshine. And again, the sun strong enough to lift those temperatures into the mid to high 20s perhaps across the south. So maybe a degree or so warmer generally. Where have you got the breeze from the sea that will keep things a little cooler with temperatures in the teens and quite fresh in the northern Isles with some showers coming in here and that northerly breeze which is still feeding in around that area of high pressure still bringing a bit more cloud through Tuesday evening across northern parts of Scotland, northern parts of Northern Ireland. Otherwise, generally dry and clear. Subtle shifts as we go towards the end of the week.

[00:02:39]The high shrinks away behind me down to the south allowing low pressure systems just signs the jet stream getting a little bit more active potentially bringing a few more weather fronts in especially as we head towards the end of the weekend. The rainfall amounts don't look huge, but that could usher in something of a change for the weekend.
