[00:00:08]But the battle was lost in three hours — by  the attackers. You see, Allied troops landed at dawn with empty ridgelines in front of them.  But military doctrine creates a hidden problem: officers stopped to reorganize instead  of advancing. If those ridges had been taken in the first hour, the campaign changes  entirely. So Mustafa Kemal ordered his men to take the empty ridge without authorization.  His troops arrived first. The Allies spent eight months and 130,000 casualties trying  to retake ground they had held for free.
