The Arrival Fallacy, coined by psychologist Tal Ben Shahar, describes the human tendency to believe that achieving specific external goals (such as promotions, championships, or financial milestones) will transform our inner lives and bring lasting happiness, contentment, and fulfillment; however, this belief is a fallacy because achieving these goals does not actually produce the expected transformation in our inner emotional state.

Most “High Performance” Is BSAdded:
So, the arrival fallacy is a term coined by the psychologist Tal Ben Shahar, and it is such a cute and keen observation of human nature, and it says that we convince ourselves that if we just achieve some sort of goal, if I just get this promotion, if I just win this championship, if I just hit the bestseller list, if I just marry this person, if I just have this income, if I just retire, on and on and on, then I'll be happy, then I'll be content, then I'll be fulfilled. And it's a fallacy because that's not how it works. Like, time and time again, we achieve these goals that we built up in our minds that would somehow transform our inner lives, and they don't.
