[00:00:00]Perhaps just taking a look at that breaking news as I alluded to just before the ad break. Now taxi boss Joe Signoni cocus expected back in court tomorrow. This as for that breaking news on charges of extortion and money laundering case. Now it follows the NPA's decision to file a formal complaint with the magistrate's commission. Now the complaint follows proceedings in the Qua Fontain maget's court in Bumalanga earlier this week and they relate to the decisions of Chief Magistrate Tleu Tongjeni in the state versus Joe Siboni case convicting a prosecutor for contempt of court um authorizing a warrant of arrest against him removing the case from the court role perhaps for more on this reaction let's chat spokesperson Kaisa for more on video link Kaisa very good afternoon thank you for joining us at this time and we've just seen some breaking news coming through. Perhaps you could just reiterate what is expected ahead of that appearance tomorrow.

[00:00:57]>> Thank you very much and thank you to your viewers. What is going to happen tomorrow is the matter will be reenrolled. I see there there's there other people are already saying it is reenrolled. No, the matter will only be reenrolled in court tomorrow in Delmas.

[00:01:13]They obviously they would have been served today so that they appear tomorrow in court and that's where we are now.

[00:01:20]>> Let's um just get your your reaction once again. I mean we're just trying to ascertain what's transpiring. We know that Joe and um Kokus they head back to court. So talk to us about the processes that were underway. What's expected then ahead of that court appearance tomorrow?

[00:01:36]um and just just trying to ascertain the legal um matters in relation to this reenrollment of the case.

[00:01:43]>> Thank you very much. The the matter will now be appearing before court. You'll remember that when last week it was struck of the role, there were no issues that related to the merits of the case.

[00:01:54]Therefore, in this case, the merits of the case will then come into play. But for now it is just a matter of reenrolling it and making sure that it is back and then it goes through the systems of the court and and we are doing four things at the moment as the NPA. You remember when the matter was on that on the 18th we then said we suspending the prosecutor we are doing internal investigation which is happening and then we the second step was to protect the prosecutor from being arrested because we felt that what was done was not done properly. We did leave to appeal. And then the third one, magistrate's commission had to be informed. Formal charge was laid against the magistrate for what we believe is misconduct. And then lastly, today we we tomorrow there will be the reenrollment of the matter. Therefore, all of these four processes are happening at the same time.

[00:02:46]>> Yes. Um, thank you for speaking to that.

[00:02:48]Perhaps I could just quickly break it down. So, legally, what does this reenrollment mean? I mean does it reset the entire process entirely and even on the issue of the prosecutor reportedly um you know looking at that internal investigation as well. What systemic weaknesses have been exposed in relation to um what is transpired prosecutoily within the system itself? Talk to us a little bit more about those gaps that emerged.

[00:03:16]>> Yeah. No here the things that happened were things that have never happened before. Therefore, that is why investigating all of these things is very important to us so that we get to the bottom of it. This is a matter that is really unprecedented and the way it was handled was unprecedented. That is why we are taking all of this and we are going to make sure going forward that nothing of this nature happen again and we will have to to to deal with that tomorrow and going forward in all the other cases because this case is very important because one of the priorities is to deal with organized crime and we believe that we the justice has to be seen to be done. All right and perhaps also just as we wrap up Kaisa the timelines the pace as well given the evidence that will be relied on what can um be dulged on that front perhaps um as there are criticisms when it comes to that pace of um you know court cases at large.

[00:04:15]Unfortunately, we do not have control over that because there are many players in the picture and therefore if for one reason the matter comes to court and the other person is not available because they are sick or so on and and then therefore that is something that we can't control. What is important for us is the matter will be back on the road and then it will take its own time depending on what the issues are. If the issues are not complicated and there are no hop and goes in the process, then it will be done quickly.
