People in 1999 watching #StarWars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace for the first timeAdded:
Oh, it's finally here. I've waited almost 20 years for a new Star Wars movie and we finally got one and it's a prequel. What a concept. all this political drama? This is confusing. I don't want politics. I want TO SEE JEDI JEDI JEDI KNIGHTS JEDI THERE THEY ARE THE JEDI.
HELL YEAH, THAT'S R2-D2. THAT WAS THE most predictable reveal ever but I called it. I cannot believe these special effects. CGI has come so far.
Oh, Jar Jar is still there. Why are they keeping him around? I'M GETTING SIGNAL OH MY GOD, GIANT FISH MONSTER. OH MY GOD, A BIGGER GIANT fish monster. A C-3PO is naked. Oh, I love it. Anakin's building him and that makes absolutely zero sense but I do not care cuz I am having a blast. Midi-chlorians?
>> [laughter] >> The alien goat farted on Jar Jar. This is the funniest Star Wars movie I've ever seen. Annie Annie Annie Anakin Skywalker meets Obi-Wan.
What a beautiful scene. Wow, I'm not even thinking about the brutal murder that's going to happen years from now.
Who in the insane clown posse meets the crow is this Darth Maul guy? He's no match for two Jedi. No way. Not impressed. Wow, Yoda looks so young.
Midi-chlorians?
Battle droids versus Gungans. It's comic relief versus other comic relief. This is going to be the funniest battle ever.
Oh great, it's Darth Juggalo again. When are they going to fight Palpatine? I don't WANT TO SEE WHAT? [screaming] WHAT?
WOW, GREAT SPINNING ANNIE. That is a good trick. Oh, Darth Maul is the greatest villain since Vader. I'm not even mad that he killed Qui-Gon. Of course he did. What?
No, no, no. This is not acceptable. I'm going to complain until they bring him back to life and give him his own series. This ending is perfect. [music] It's exactly the same as episode 4, and I have a feeling this film will be just as beloved as that one was. Bravo, George Lucas.
