[00:00:02][music] >> Hi, I'm Precious Okoyomon. I'm a poet and artist. I live in New York City. My piece here at MoCA is called pre-sky emit light yes like that and it's a relational artwork that I made really thinking through the collective unconscious. I met with strangers over my time in Lagos and interviewed them and asked them all the same 10 questions. Who are you? What do you love? Who caused the suffering of your mother? How have you prepared for your death? So quite invasive questions of the unconscious and then I collected all of them together and kind of made this choreo-sonic audio poem that is then transported through this radio tower because I was inspired by the radio towers all over Lagos and the constant sound of other people's radios as you're waiting in traffic and I don't know I am always thinking about music that the environment makes. MoCA to me is a really big and beautiful step in thinking through what archiving African art looks like, thinking through [music] what making a space for us, by us, with us looks like. It's a manifesting miracle.
