Sean demonstrates that mastery over heavy machinery is less about brute force and more about the disciplined management of mechanical stress and operational efficiency. It is a compelling study on how technical precision dictates the economic and physical success of large-scale land transformation.

Moving DirtAdded:
Big day on the farm.
Barn dove is doing good. Not too much to change. Well, we got a That's dirty.
Look how dirty that is. They put some dirty metal up there.
No way to hose it down yet. Um windows up. The plan is I don't know if I told you this. We might do a porch. We might do a the deck would come out to here.
Uh porch here about 12 ft and then maybe a second floor porch up there. And then that'll we'll pop that window out. We'll make it a door possibility. I it all depends on how the budget goes today.
I'm real excited. Okay, we have a lot of things happening on the wall on the next couple videos and it's all going to happen really fast. So, electrical, plumbing, insulation, and I'm really excited about the gutters cuz I want to start filling that tank up. And I know now a lot of questions about this tank. I'm still learning about this tank. But here here's how here's how the here's how it's probably going to go. There's two types of systems that we can do. We can do a dry system. If the tank was right here, if the tank was right here in this in the way of everything, we would do a dry system and the gutter would go straight into the tank. A wet system, the gutters go in the ground. So they would have a gutter coming here would go in right there and then shoot over this way under under the ground. And then we build a trench right here. We have a big long pipe. We're talking like six or eight inch PVC pipe. Uh big long pipe in here that comes over to here and then it pops up pops up somewhere and then kind of like snake bites inside of the tank and that's how it fills up. So the pressure because that's lower than where it starts. It's going to take it up in there and uh and then apparently and then this is the out. That's where the water comes out and it's ultimately going to go in here. That's our inlet for the water. And I what I might do if we can get it deep enough. So we have to trench this. We'll get the miniacs and dig a hole here. If we can get it deep enough and we can run the line. I I I don't I'm learning about this stuff. But if we can run the line kind of like geothermal it um we might get a geothermal effect when we bring the water inside the house and then uh it won't be so hot. Also maybe we'll put so maybe we'll build a build something over top of that and we'll put a you know solar panels on there. That's a great place for solar panels and then that would stop the sun cuz I think we're not going to have a problem freezing in the winter time. it doesn't get that cold for that long like and it's also a very big tank so we might get a layer of ice on top. The whole thing's not going to freeze completely.
That's just not a thing. Um the problem we might have is not even a problem. It just might not be very cold or cool in the summertime. So I don't know. We're going to find out. But uh doing a little doing running some lines, you know, getting that geothermal effect. It's not a huge deal. It's not even very expensive.
So, we will uh we will see. So, we got we got David and they're going to come bring the dozer. They're bringing their small dozer. We got we got big dozer over there and we're going to finally level this big pile and level this stuff. Um I don't know how it's all going to work, but I know it's going to work. So, to get ready for that, I'm gonna start grabbing some of the uh there's a big log over there I kind of want to save.
I'm gonna grab that. Move it over and jump in the skid steer. Move some of this stuff. Kind of move the bigger rocks. Get them out of the way. And I'm going take that that that steak pile.
Actually, let's get more of these. Grab more as many of these steaks as we can.
Stick them in the pile. We're going to burn them. I don't think we need them anymore.
and let's get ready for when uh so once we start moving once we level out this pile and we can kind of clear this out.
The plan is this is going to be all nice and nice and fields. This will actually be maybe some of it will be field some of it might be yard or it'll be yard until we we don't live here anymore.
And what I really like is that we uh I just want a nice place for the kids to play. you know, kids can play ball.
Right now, we play ball in the streets.
We play stick ball in the streets in the in the hood of of Memphis. I want to bring them into the country and just have a nice place. They can throw some ball. Um, and this is I keep on talking about this, but our I have a really really nice grading grading attachment for my skid steer. It's from a company called Skier. S ke.
and that's when we're going to be able to get this thing out and really start doing some legit finish grade grading.
So, that's going to be fun. But, we're starting that right now. However, I don't know what's going to happen with that pile. The other thing is, uh, the shipping containers, all the stuff down here, it's it's not going to be here for very much longer. We got to move it someplace else. Um, I want this front to start looking nice again. Uh, we really kind of trashed it up with all my stuff, so that's going to be nice. Is the uh is the motor graater? But yeah, the motor grader is still here. I think I sold the motor grader to the guy who I bought the the dozer from. So, he should be picking that up anytime soon. Uh, probably not today, though. So, lot of grading, a lot of fun. And maybe we might have to maybe we'll burn that thing today. Maybe not.
Maybe we won't burn it today. I don't know. But we got some stuff we got to move. One of the things that big giant log over there that that the bees were in, that's a nice log. I want to make some I want to make some seats out of that or something. I don't know.
But let's uh let's get this thing fired up and try to prepare the way for when uh the people who actually know what they're doing get here.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
So, I'll be honest with you. I find every possible reason not to go to the doctor. I'll go to the motorcycle part store just to hang out. I'll be searching to buy uh different stuff on Facebook Marketplace. I'll go to Home Depot for no reason to make a phone call to book a doctor's appointment.
Suddenly, I don't got time for that. And you know how it goes. You finally work up the nerve to call. You're on hold for 10 minutes and then they tell you that the next available appointment is 6 weeks away. So you hang up and you just you get you get frustrated and you just never go. And I know that's not good.
But I also know that I'm not the only one that does that. That's why I'm glad to tell you about our sponsor of this video, Zach. And honestly, this is one I actually use because it fixes the exact problem that I just described. Zdock lets you search for local doctors who are in your network. You get to read real patient reviews and see their actual open appointment slots. No phone tag, no guessing, no waiting on hold.
And most appointments happen within 24 to 72 hours. They've got 150,000 providers across the country and more than 200 specialties in all 50 states.
If you're anything like me, time is the most valuable commodity that you possibly have. and wasting time at a doctor's office, wasting time on the phone on hold, or wasting time that you are not getting into the doctors. That's pretty valuable for me. At Zock, you don't have to deal with that anymore.
Look, when it comes down to it, I want you guys to actually take care of yourself. Don't be like me and put things you need to get done off for 6 months because the process felt annoying. I know it may seem small, but just click on the link below to browse Zdoc is a huge step forward in prioritizing your health. Or you can scan the QR code right here or in the link in the description.
zoddock.com/shanfarm and get that appointment on the books.
It only takes like 2 minutes. You'll start feeling better just knowing that it's done. Thanks again to Zachdoc for partnering with us and for helping us take the first step to taking better care of ourselves.
All right, so what's the uh what's the game plan here for today?
>> All right, so we're going to move all this brush back that way >> and pretty much start plowing all that top soil and rock and stuff and filling this whole area in here.
You think it'll be a good back there. It would be a good spot to burn it.
>> Yeah, I' I'd probably I wouldn't get too close to them trees and them power lines. I'd probably try to stay maybe kind of in that middle area right there where it's all tore up. Oh, >> so move it like 20 ft over.
>> Yeah, maybe 20 30 ft. Like I said, you don't when it's burning, you don't want it the cuz the flames are going to be pretty high, I'd imagine. So, >> you don't want it up burning them power lines.
>> You think maybe we'll move it over there and then once we level this thing out, we'll move it back over here and burn it?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Cuz I mean, that's not a huge burn pile, so it won't take long once you light it. It's all dry. Once you light it up, it'll it'll go quick.
>> Okay.
>> So, but yeah, we're going to get all these mud holes and stuff filled in. And we're going to have to work some of them rocks, which we separated a lot of them when we did the initial dig out.
>> Yeah. I started pulling some of the some of the smaller rocks out of it when I was when I was killing time.
>> Yeah. But yeah, that's pretty much it.
We'll move we'll move some of this stuff back that way to give us enough room to get down and around here.
>> Okay. And we'll use your bigger dozer to kind of rough it in. And we'll have to we we got to make sure we build up on these rocks because if you get on these rocks and start teetering and it'll snap a track on the machine. So, >> okay.
>> Just got to be careful. Work our way down.
>> So, we'll fill the stuff in pretty first.
>> Yeah. Yeah. We'll start up here >> cuz I mean some of this looks kind of high. So, we might We just got to see how much material we have and just kind of start blending it down that way.
>> You want me to start moving this stuff someplace else?
>> Yeah. I mean, I think if we move this just kind of up kind of in line with that dumpster.
Oh, there you go.
>> You like that?
>> It's like an exhaust clamp.
Something.
>> Yeah. If you just move this stuff up by the dumpster, we'll help you move it real quick.
>> Okay.
>> Just stack some of this metal up just to give us a nice path over here so we're not smashing it. But >> yeah, and then we we'll bring the we'll start with the dozer from that side where the Suburban is and start chipping away at it.
>> Yeah. We'll we'll start where there where the truck is and we'll just start edging around it and working it down this way and we'll push it down that way and I'll take the smaller dozer and we'll just start leveling everything.
>> Okay.
>> Anything anything I can do to help with the uh with the with the skid steer?
>> Uh yeah. I mean the more more machines pushing dirt the better cuz I mean there's there's not a ton of big rocks in there. So if it was like really rocky I'd say keep the skid steer out of it.
But once we start laying it down, we can all we can both start working and flattening everything out.
>> Okay.
>> We'll just see how far we can get that way.
>> All right. But for now, let's start moving this. I guess we'll move start moving this stuff.
>> Yeah, >> we'll move the metal by hand and then get the skid steer for the wood.
>> Yeah, that sounds good.
>> Yeah, that metal. You don't want to damage it.
Yeah. Take it like that in the middle.
You take like that.
What' they say? These were 30footers.
>> You saw what?
>> Those were 30ft pieces.
>> Yeah, I'd say they look 30 ft.
You going to go for the whole stack?
>> We try.
Oh.
Oh, yeah. We're out to We'll probably have to get I don't got a good place to pick up.
>> What you got?
>> It's all cut down and smaller. See that?
>> All right. All right. So, do one at a time.
>> Yeah. I don't know what they'll use this stuff for.
Looks like that's a that's a rip down piece anyways.
Oh, yeah. That's all their cut pieces.
It's like the pond is coming together over there.
>> Yeah. Chipping away at it.
>> Yeah. Just slowly.
I got some pond guys coming in a couple weeks to wrap it up.
>> Oh, cool.
Sweet. They'll bring some big equipment.
That one fella not going to finish it up.
>> Say what?
>> That one fella not going to finish it up.
>> Uh he's the one that's going to come back. But it was a bigger project than I thought it was.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. It's a pretty big undertaking.
So, the the dozer, you said you keep an eye on the temperature or the pressure.
>> The pressure.
>> The temp's fine, but it'll start to get too high on the pressure. You can run for about an hour and you can get a lot done in an hour.
>> Okay.
>> And then let it sit for, you know, half an hour or something.
>> That sounds good. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it ain't going to take too too long to get all this dirt.
>> I'll show you what gauge to keep an eye on.
>> Okay.
Look at that. Check it out.
Frog.
>> Oh.
Oh, yeah. Big old.
>> Hey little guy, you better get out of here. You better move on, fella.
>> If it was a snake, I was going to start going the other direction.
>> Not a big fan of snakes.
>> I mean, >> come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. You got to get out of here. We're working.
Drop my hand. Come on. Come on. All right, buddy.
I don't know if you get warts or not. I don't know if that's a >> I don't think it's a real thing. That's what you hear from books.
>> That's why I always don't want to touch them. Come here, man. I know they'll pee on you, though.
>> Really?
>> I think so. Yeah.
>> Cole, grab them.
>> No way.
>> You don't like frogs?
>> Come here, buddy.
We'll move him over there. We'll save him a few days of travel.
>> Yeah.
>> I'mma get you, man.
>> The comments are freaking out, though.
Just grab the frog.
>> Not a big frog grabber, but Oh, >> neither.
>> Got him.
>> Oh, yeah. He peed. I told you, man.
>> Oh my god. He's got so much water inside of him.
>> I told you. That's why I want to grab him.
>> He had all the water inside of that guy.
Oh, there's another one. Oh, that was a mice. A mouse.
>> Oh, yeah. There's a lot of mice around here.
This frog is very cold.
Come on, frog. We'll save you.
All right. You got a pretty good shot of living in here for a little while.
See all those little things in there?
Little tadpoles.
See them?
>> There's so many of them.
>> Yeah. Before there was like millions of them.
All right, let's keep on moving. We saved that. We did a good job. We saved that frog.
Watch where you step.
If there's going to be a bear, it's going to be hiding down here.
That frog had a pee jet stream the size of like a man's.
It was this big. It's huge.
You want me to get the skid steer and move the rest of this stuff?
>> Yeah. I was going to tell you that the rest of the stuff we can grab with the skid steer. All right.
>> You can probably grab this whole pile with the forks and >> Yeah.
>> move it over there somewhere. Should I put the forks on or just use that?
>> Um, >> are the forks around here?
>> I don't know where they're at. I probably, if you have the forks, I mean, you could use that as long as they don't crush it or nothing.
>> All right. The forks are >> These you probably won't crush, but these eye joists you'll crush. They're >> all right. Let me go grab the forks.
>> All right.
Yeah, I'll start to >> actually let me try just to lift Let me try just to I won't have to I don't have to clamp it. I just lift it up. You know what I mean?
>> Yeah. If you get all them rocks out of the way, you might just like grab it like you said.
>> Yeah. Dang. I just put those rocks there like an idiot.
>> Save you a trip knowing to get the forks.
>> It's the problem with my skid steer. I'm always using different attachments.
They're always someplace different that I'm not at.
He got it.
Pretty nifty little tool right there.
>> Yeah, the ground's great.
>> Yeah, I've never seen one with the like the bucket TE's on it before.
>> Oh, really?
>> No, man. I've seen a lot of grapples, but not like that. That seems pretty >> That comes in handy.
>> Heck yeah. All right. So, move this move the van. Go fire up the big dozer. And >> Yes, sir.
>> And then you'll you'll run He's running the dozer or you running the dozer?
>> I'm going to run our do Well, I'm I might run the big dozer and let him in the one with the AC.
>> Okay.
>> But >> yeah, then uh have you ran the big one before?
>> I drove it around the yard that day.
>> Okay, cool. All right. All right, let me move that one and then um we'll get the dozer fired up and I got muffs for it.
>> Oh, do you?
>> Yeah. It's so freaking loud in there.
>> Yeah, that stack is right there in your face.
>> Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to go get ours unloaded and greased up and everything and we'll be ready to rock and roll.
>> And all this harm has got me thinking about one of my favorite Bible verses.
Proverbs 12:22. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight. All right, here's the game plan. I'm going to move the uh Suburban. Get that out of the way. They're going to get the big dozer. I think David's going to run the big dozer. And I think what he's going to do is wear the Cuz you you don't just you don't I learned this. I didn't know.
If if you get a big enough dozer, you can you can't just go tackle this whole thing head on. You take you take a little quarter piece and a little quarter piece and you just keep on plowing away. Before you know it, it's all done. Um, and I think the plan is to not destroy the road. I hope that's the plan because that should be the plan.
And then maybe I need to move the dump the dumpster.
But, uh, we'll see. I'm I'm going to throw some of these logs.
Maybe I'll pick that up. Maybe I'll pick that piece up with my with my skid steer. Put that in a in a hole or something like that. But um I'm just I'm going to hopefully I can find a way to help cuz they're driving the two big machines. I I got to make sure I don't I don't get in the way. But um this should be fun. Let's move the Suburban.
I know we're not at that time in the building process yet. Maybe Dan said we were, but I think what I want to do is get the kids out here. And um so the way the way they the way they build stuff is they're focusing on work. Everything else is just throw trash everywhere. I want to keep it clean cuz I'm I'm worried about some of that trash getting underneath the ground. It just I don't know. It's just it's a personal preference. I don't want trash under my ground. Um same thing sometimes you see guys building houses and you open up like a crevice that no one's going to ever going to find and there's a piece of there's a beer can in there. I don't I don't want any of that stuff. Now I know Dan's going to keep an eye on that, but I can jump in. I can help too. I can be useful. I can be a useful locomotive.
Is that what they said? Is that what they said on that Thomas the Tank Engine? They kept on like you got to be a you a useful locomot. Something like that.
It's funny. I've never driven a piece of equipment until I bought equipment.
No one would ever let me drive. No one ever let me drive theirs.
Heat up here.
All right. So, they're moving stuff. I think uh I want to move this piece of log right here.
I'm going to tell him something.
When my buddy was showing me how to run it, he never used the deceleration pedal. He just he said it's better to keep it at full throttle the whole time and then just neutral, reverse, neutral.
You know what I mean?
>> Okay.
>> Yeah. It feels great. It loves it, man.
That's what I love.
It freeze off, too. All right. So, that's what we're talking about.
>> That's the one we're watching out for.
So, you're good.
>> Not give it a hell, but keep an eye on that.
So, he's driving it the same way I was driving it before Jim showed me how to drive it.
And then what I just told him was what Jim showed me. And Jim doesn't use the the deceleration pedal. Now someone someone knows those machines better than I do and they can tell me like this is how you do it.
Think of how cool it would be to be like a 5-year-old or a six-year-old or whatever, just to sit here, watch all these big equipment.
You can sit a chair right here. You sit a lazy boy right here. Or you can go upstairs.
Heat.
Heat.
That dozer is able to move so much dirt.
The amount of the amount of dirt that big dozer can move compared to the skid steer that little dozer is it's like 10.
It's like 10x now. That dozer is not even that big. I looked at a uh I think a D10.
Might be a D1. Whatever. It was a bigger one. Maybe D12. I don't know. But it was literally four times heavier than that.
It would make that dozer look like it's like a toy.
But it's going to cost a lot to run.
It's going to cost a lot to fix.
That might be the perfect size, though.
Let's go wash them down there.
Heat. Heat.
Oh yeah. Yeah. No. No. Take that lever, the throttle, push it forward more.
More.
You can hear the yellow. Is that what you're talking about?
>> Let's see.
>> I assume you want to keep it in the green, right?
>> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Let it sit for a little while.
>> Okay.
Did Did you hear what I You hear what I was saying about just leaving it.
>> Yeah. Yeah, I heard you.
>> Yeah. Okay.
>> I I just having a hard time with it because I I'm used to having a decelerator pedal, so I don't But I'm I got I got >> No, I I understand. Like it's it's when you're used to something.
>> Yeah. But you're I see what you're saying. Just leave it wide open and just >> because I think it has such a hard time.
I think it's like the turbo spools up and if you just keep it all 100%, you know what I mean? But when you go when it's, you know, I think that's what it's having a harder time to do. You know what I mean?
>> That makes sense. Yeah.
>> But also, I don't know. That's just what I was told.
>> So, uh, >> I really don't know either.
>> It looks like it's working pretty good, though.
>> Oh, yeah. I got it figured out now.
>> Yeah. You'll be through here in no time.
>> Yeah. We'll we'll run out of material before long.
So, if you guys remember, we were piling this stuff up in the winter time when we were uh getting ready for the slab and we were pulling all the rocks out. So, we get all the rocks, put them over here, and this was the uh the the smaller non rock pile, and we had no place to put it, so we started dumping it over here.
It'd be fun once they get that thumb on the miniacs just to come come in here and start grabbing all the rocks, putting them in the dump truck or something.
David's a good operator. He knows what he's doing. What is that? A brick.
Brick.
I was uh I was helping push start a car that we had at the shop and I was really leaning into it. So I'm leaning I'm running and I'm pushing really hard and then I didn't realize what happens when that car starts to go and I'm trying to push off of it but I can't and then I'd end up eating it.
Got a little chip in my chip in my palm.
So, you know, the go-to with uh if you have kids or if you get cut and all, I buy these little um super glue packs and I just glue it all. I just glue everything up. Yo, you need stitches. I just glue it up. Stick it blow on it.
You're good to go. So, I just put I put super glue in there a couple times, but super glue is where it's at. This video is not sponsored by Superglue, though.
I'm going to go park this behind the building. Uh hopefully out of the way and then um we'll come back. We'll see their progress. We have a lot more stuff to do on Sean's farm.
Let's go.
Think about it. Fridge.
Fridge with cold drinks and then a bench.
That's That's home to me. That's all I need.
I don't need much.
