Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), particularly butyrate, produced by a healthy gut microbiome provide lasting anti-inflammatory effects throughout the body by dampening dendritic cells, microglia, and mast cells while activating regulatory T cells and suppressing NF-kappa-B pathways; unlike probiotics which only have temporary effects lasting 1-2 hours, SCFA supplementation delivers these benefits directly and can be particularly effective for individuals with systemic inflammation and gut health difficulties.

CP132 SCFAs inflammationHinzugefügt:
One of the things that uh I think has become pretty clear in recent years is that you microbiome is really critical for dampening inflammation and playing a major role in slowing down chronic disease. And most of the research has really shown that having a diverse microbiome is one of the essential factors for for these things to occur.
Now the outcome of having a very healthy and diverse microbiome is that it produces high amounts of short- chain fatty acids. And that's one of the common links we see with that short- chain fatty acids that are produced by bacteria in the gut. This they uh then get into systemic circulation and they have an anti-inflammatory effect throughout the entire body. They dampen uh dendritic cells, grouper cells, microgle cells. They regulate uh um the amplification of the NFCappa B pathways.
They decrease the amplification of that.
They turn on regulatory tea cells. So they have this really supportive profound effect throughout our body. But one of the most underutilized applications is actually using uh short- chain fatty acids supplementally which uh you know people can purchase as butyrate. Uh butyrate propin acid are the main three three main short chain fatty acids but the most common one is just butyrate supplementation. Butyrate supplementation has has been shown as a supplement to have profound impacts dampening inflammation. It's almost like uh taking the advantages of having someone with a healthy rich microbiome uh and instead of having the healthy rich microbiome just giving him the outcome which is a short chain fatty acids. I can tell you over the years I've stopped using probiotics as much because probiotics you know only have an effect for one or two hours once you ingest them in the gut. They don't have long lasting effects, but ultimately you're trying to populate the gut and you're not going to get a lot of diversity done with probiotics for extended periods of time. They can just have a local effect for a short time when they're taking them. Whereas short- chain fatty acids uh actually provide fuel to help with with development of bacterial diversity, but they're also the end product uh of of bacterial diversity has all the beneficial anti-inflammatory effects. So if you haven't looked into using uh butyrate supplementation um then you it's really something you should look into as a clinician. It can be very impactful for people that have systemic inflammation and and are dealing with difficulty getting their gut healthy. you can bypass some of those major uh steps that the microbiome can't do at that point and just give them uh get their system some short- chain fatty acids to to really uh benefit from what a healthy microbiome would do in the first place.
