shovel up sweep pipesAdded:
[music] [music] [music] >> Welcome back to the channel, guys. I'm Drew James with James Cycle Supply. And man, this turbo bike has been I'll be honest, guys. It's been a real learning curve and head headache on this tuning situation on this bike. It being carbureted and all that kind of stuff, it takes a lot to kind of figure it out.
I don't know. It's got a lot of issues with it. When I start riding, you know, start getting into boost and stuff like that, start sputtering. I think it's hitting fuel cut.
I need to add a an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, a fuel pump.
What else is wrong? Oh, the turbo.
Remember from the last couple months ago when I went on a little test ride after putting the you know, the hand clutch and stuff on there. The the seals in the turbo are just completely shot. So, this is dumping oil out of the downpipe. So, I got to keep going down this rabbit hole of you know, buying this, buying that, keep messing with it. So, but for now I'm just kind of like I just want to put some normal exhaust pipes on it, ride it for a little bit, you know. And then once I get the extra bread, I'll buy the parts and we'll slap it back on there and kind of figure it out. I mean, it is running.
It's ridable. It's just leaking oil and the fuel cut issue needs to be figured out, but yeah, so for now I'm just going to throw some normal exhaust pipes. I ordered some uh Not those ones. Those are from the Triumph. You guys seen the last video I took that thing apart. That thing's that bike's money pit. But well, all of them are, really. Cuz like this you know, the turbo shovel that you see right there, I mean I've built bike myself. I had my buddy paint it and stuff like that, but I mean, realistically, guys, I got like 20 grand into that bike. And uh you know, it's a big investment to have, you know, bikes like that and kind of, you know, after a while you're like, "All right, I'm going to hold off on spending more money on it." So, right now, like I said, I just ordered some exhaust pipes from Lowbrow. I'm going to do some little chrome upsweeps, these Gasbox ones.
Uh they're actually You can't beat it for the price. I mean, 300 bucks shipped to your door, they uh send them to them.
Not these, these were all on the Triumph.
I made those ones and uh I was going to buy my own exhaust or make my own exhaust cuz I love doing that kind of stuff. Um but, you know, they would have cost me more than $300 just to get the stainless material to make it. So, I was like, "Well, I'll just order these." So, I'm going to take the turbo kit off and uh let's put these pipes on here and see what it sounds like.
All right, got everything taken off this bike to put these uh upsweeps on. I think I'm going to leave this intake though cuz it looks still pretty cool. I'll probably put the velocity stack back on there.
That'll still give it a cool look, have like a you know, carburetor sticking out like that. That's still pretty sick.
Um here's all the stuff for the turbo kit laying over here.
And uh hopefully these fit, man, cuz I was worried about uh the uh the placement of this pipe cuz I already welded this. It's already painted for the pegs, you know, so I was going to try to see if I could Hopefully it's below that, but um yeah, we'll set this back one on real quick.
It didn't look too bad. And it's like right under there though.
Pull it down a little bit.
Just barely.
I have to maybe take that bolt off or something to make this a hanger somehow.
It's not really sitting flush.
Which shovel heads are known for that, but I think it's just cuz this needs to go up more, but that doesn't look bad.
Let's try the other one.
Let's try this front head pipe.
And uh I don't know. I'll try to sneak it in here.
I'll probably have to change that brake line.
To be honest with you now, I feel like it's going to hit.
Yeah.
It doesn't look like that's going to fit with that brake line like that. Looks like it's going right through like this.
Yeah, it's hitting that line.
All right, guys. I'm going to have to take this brake master off and probably change this brake line or swing the fitting out of the way make that work really quick.
I went ahead and just took off the brake master.
And uh it's really close to hitting my frame down there. So, I might have to play around with that a little bit, but let's put the rest of the pipe on so we just kind of look and take a look back and see what the bike looks like with this other pipe.
Put you guys down real quick.
Get the better angle for you.
It'll be something like that.
That still looks pretty cool.
Stick the I mean, that's still a really cool bike, you know?
Except to figure out that brake master.
Looks weird with nothing in the front of the frame like that.
Now it's just got like the little tabs and all that, but it's not too bad. I think that looks kind of cool.
Just need to kind of get them lined up, you know?
So, I'm going to play around with this, get them lined up, probably make some type of hanger for it and all that kind of stuff, figure that out, and then we'll fire this thing up.
Got everything figured out. Went ahead and made this a bracket, made it out of stainless.
Cuz I thought that was kind of cool and I had to make another hanger for the backside of them, bolted up to the uh you know, the brake stay and stuff like that, but put the little uh Independent logo in there. I thought I would give it a nice touch.
You know, got to have some cool one-off stuff.
And it looks pretty good.
Got my uh had to reroute this uh line a little bit. I just had to kind of loosen this up and bend it and then pull it back out and rebleed the brakes and all that kind of stuff, so yeah, I think I'm going to uh let's fire this thing up and see what it sounds like.
>> Like always, I really appreciate you guys watching. Don't forget to like and subscribe. And uh go to jamescyclesupply.com, get yourself a hat, get yourself a t-shirt, buy some really cool chopper parts for me, and I'll see you guys soon.
