Content creators do not hypnotize audiences into adopting their opinions; instead, viewers typically self-select streamers who align with their existing beliefs, and when streamers change their views, audiences unsubscribe rather than blindly following. While content creators can coordinate boycotts and frame issues to resonate with audiences, this is similar to traditional media's role in unifying existing beliefs rather than creating new ones.

Fallout Creator Discovered Streamers Can Mind Control PeopleAdded:
So, we got the uh Fallout co-creator, which uh has a very interesting theory.
He's basically saying that uh fans often adopt streamers opinions instead of forming their own. They're handed an opinion from the channel they're watching and then that person's opinion becomes their opinion.
>> [snorts] >> I uh have heard this take before which is the take that uh justified censorship. I was like well I mean if the content creators are poopet masters they're hypnotizing the public [snorts] um we need trust and safety cuz like what if they hypnotize the public into doing bad things.
Uh and so no seriously like this was the argument for uh censorship. Uh but is it true though, right? Do content creators actually hypnotize the public? Well, uh this gentleman, right, like the Fallout co-creator Tim Kaine, um he is now a content creator. Like he's a streamer, right? He streams.
Why isn't he hypnotizing his own audience? I like why am I not hypnotized now? Like I'm watching him, right? And I understand his take. Why don't I accept it? How can he explain people like me that have heard what the streamer has said? But I'm I'm don't agree. No. Uh secondly, are streamers uh all the same? Do they share all their ideas? I mean, sure, you know, like you have certain streamers that uh gravitate in the same community and and they have the same takes. Uh but you also have like streamers that uh were the opposite, right? like HB Bomber Guy for example. HB Bomber Guy before Asol become fa became famous he was uh having a massive audience and his stakes were pretty much the opposite. I mean he even streamed with uh AOC and the guy is a raging Democrat like he uh has like all the progressive takes.
Why why did he went away?
Uh other examples, I mean you still obviously have like Vosch, but like Extra Credits, Extra Credits was incredibly influential, right? And they had very left-wing takes, why are they not popular?
And so this is uh where you can point out to the problem. And then you also have to wonder, well, hold on a little bit. If if uh people cannot form their own opinions, but they take them from a streamer, uh how is the gaming press any different? Like the gaming press was an absolute juggernaut before streaming.
And so uh why weren't they being accused that they're manipulating the audience because the gaming press wasn't just like uh you know talking about video games. They were talking about morality and how people should get a moral upgrade by uh demanding that Xbox start to censor people that talk [ __ ] about your mom online and demand more censorship.
Uh why why wasn't the gaming press being accused of manipulating their readers?
Uh the reality is different. No. Uh the public of course sometimes do get opinions from streamers, but it's a little bit more complex than that. The reality is most people listen to a streamer they already agree with.
Like I will not get many left-wing people watching my channel. It's just not the way it works. It's not that I don't want to have left linking people my watching my channel because obviously I do you know I want to be big [snorts] but most people they they find a streamer that they already agree with like they already have predetermined notions and they start watching that streamer because they agree with and and what usually happens if the streamer actually shifts politics like for example with short fat otaku he uh all of a sudden shifts gears it's not that people are still convinced right because like if this theory held If a streamer shifted gears like all of his audience would shift gears as well.
But what actually happens is that no the audience leaves like they leave short fellow taco they unsubscribe and they go for someone else. Uh the quarter another example right like like you get to see this and it's not just about the opinions it's also the behavior of the streamer. It's also like many things. Um but all in all it's it's not this simple nature that uh you you you create a new reality as being a content creator like I'm influencing you guys so that uh you obey me and everything I say becomes gospel.
Now there is a little bit of truth to it in the sense that the content creators can actually coordinate boycotts like we have seen this happen. uh they can talk about certain events that normally would go unnoticed. This is also true. But again, like this is what the press did as well and still does. Um and more importantly, they can frame things in a way that uh the public resonates with, right? So like for example, u the public may say, "Why aren't there any more tits in video games?" Like I grew up in the '9s, all of the women had big [ __ ] tits. Uh now I see that the women look like men and uh the men they they're almost always shirtless. They're almost always like pig physique. It's almost like the video games are designed for gunner HR women and homosexuals.
Right now this is a very crude way of expressing yourself. This is not a very public facing way. And this is where a streamer like myself comes in and it says like, well, the video games have been co-opted by genderqueer homosexuals.
I'll probably not frame it like that, but I can definitely say yes, like gaming has been co-opted by activists who are trying to push uh gender abolition. Here are a couple of videos where they literally say they want to do just that. And so they want to sneak trans people in. Like they're not removing the tits from women so you don't goon. They're removing the tits from women to make them look more masculine, to give them uh square jaw lines, to give them broad shoulders, to to make them look masculine in order to normalize the idea that it's a man is a woman as well. And when you point it out, they get upset because they don't view it like you dislike the video game or the art style. They view it like it's an assault on their ideology. And and they are told that their ideology isn't working. They haven't snuck them in good enough, right? And so this is why they get upset. Now when I make something like that, when I say something like that, all of a sudden like people have a different argument to make, which is pretty much still the same in essence, right? Like they notice that video games are making women that not only just look ugly, but they behave ugly. And now they know why, right? But it's not me uh giving streamer opinions. Like the streamers already had the opinions, right? like the ones that genuinely believe in gender abolition and LGBT and inclusivity, they wouldn't watch my channel to begin with. Um, and so I guess like streamers can be like a unifying thing, you know, which is literally what the media does. Like don't tell me Fox News or CNN or MSNBC or, you know, the gaming press like or Polygon didn't do exactly the same. Like they also unified feminists. It's like, yeah, you need to demand more censorship. You need to demand no platform for fascists. Blah blah blah.
and now people knew. But like those people already had those opinions. So I think uh this is the reality. It's not what Tim Kaine is saying that uh streamers are hypnotizing others. And by the way, it's not always a bad thing.
Like it's not always a bad thing because uh without the community organizing, uh people would probably still buy $120 games.
Like what what what do I benefit by spending $120 on a video game? Nothing.
I get nothing, right? And so if the company can make it cheaper, they should. Uh or push back against AI. Like not only now does the company wants you to pay $1200, but they also want to use AI. And it's like, well, you need to pick and choose. Like, do you want to use AI then make the game cheaper?
I'm just saying. Let me know what you guys think, though. And as usual, I'll see you in the comment section. Bigger.
