Obsession (2026) Movie Review

[00:00:47]Hi everyone, Big Polly back with a brand new video, a brand new movie review. I have just this moment, there it is, come out of City World from watching Obsession. Yes, didn't know too much about this. I thought it was going to be some kind of like romantic drama.

[00:01:06]Not that I'm attracted to romantic dramas that much.

[00:01:10]Uh but I knew it had a kind of a little bit of a horror element to it. So, it's about this guy that has this fascination with this woman he really likes, uh and he's a bit chicken to ask her out cuz uh he doesn't want to be rejected. I don't think I could take that kind of rejection.

[00:01:34]Um and then he stumbles upon this one wish thing. It's like a little contraption that you just make one wish and you snap it in half uh and that wish comes true.

[00:01:47]And of course, he wishes for her to fall in love with him.

[00:01:52]And then it becomes an obsession.

[00:01:55]And um it goes weird in some places.

[00:02:01]She freaks out. It's just she won't leave him alone, and it goes from one extreme to the next uh, until the conclusion. But, I thought it was really good. I thought I thought it might It was a little bit slow going to start with, maybe the first 15 or 20 minutes, but then when the obsession started showing, um, then it started to get really interesting. And there was some pretty brutal [ __ ] in there, as well.

[00:02:38]Uh, there was one scene, actually, it was a one one jump scare. It just came out of nowhere, and I was like, "What the fuck?"

[00:02:47]And, uh, yeah, that completely floored me.

[00:02:51]Um, and then you realize, "Holy [ __ ] this is just not an obsession, is it?

[00:02:56]This is far worse than an an obsession."

[00:03:00]Uh, but I got to say, yeah, yeah, I thought it was a really good film.

[00:03:04]Um, it had a strange ratio. I think it was 150, 1 by 50. Not quite 4 by 3, but kind of so very squarish.

[00:03:16]Uh, and it was a very dark, though. A lot of the scenes were very dark. I don't know if it was intentionally made that way.

[00:03:23]Um, especially in the house where the woman, Nikki, was standing in like a doorway, and it was totally black.

[00:03:33]Uh, you couldn't see any features on her face or anything. She was just totally in black, like a shadow.

[00:03:39]Um, it it I thought it was effective. I mean, if it was a buggered projector, then it worked pretty well.

[00:03:46]But, uh, yeah. And And there was some kind of some strange kind of flickering throughout the film. So, I'm not sure if that was uh maybe something to do with the projector.

[00:03:58]Other than that, yeah, really enjoyed it.

[00:04:02]Uh the cast, I don't know any of the cast.

[00:04:06]Um the guy who made the wish, I thought he was pretty good. The other characters didn't really have too much to do. They were kind of background characters. But, the woman who played Nikki, who he made the wish on, I thought she was [ __ ] brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. You know, showing one side of her character, going absolutely batshit crazy on another side of the character, then going back to "Oh, I'm sorry."

[00:04:35]apologizing and lovey-dovey. I thought she was brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

[00:04:40]Yeah, so um yeah, really enjoyed it. Really enjoyed it.

[00:04:46]Yeah, so uh I thought the music was really good as well.

[00:04:49]Um a lot of the uh the music cues really fitted in.

[00:04:54]Um yeah, I just wasn't expecting that.

[00:05:00]I was just expecting, you know, just someone to have a bit of a crush and not to go [ __ ] crazy.

[00:05:09]Anyway, there we go. That is my thoughts on Obsession. I'm going to give Obsession I'm going to give it eight out of 10. Yes.
