Ravens demonstrate sophisticated social intelligence through sentinel behavior (where one bird watches for danger and signals permission for the group to feed), dominance hierarchies, and cooperative resource division, where they collectively compete for food items like duck eggs and peanuts, ensuring equitable distribution based on each raven's abilities while maintaining group bonds and social order.

The Ravengers mighta just broke science…Added:
Come and get it, REVENGERS.
We back after the last episode left off with the Revengers about to get Lord of the Flies in a feeding frenzy like nothing we and maybe even science have ever seen before. Behavior we recently caught on camera at their weekly raven offering is at minimum rare, at most previously undocumented scientific gold, revealing what I've always known. Her are smarter than men. Here's how it all went down. 4:30 p.m. Kira and I deliver our weekly offering of peanuts and duck eggs. 4:42 p.m. First raven arrives, but it doesn't take a single peanut. Just hops around for 5 minutes, then takes off. A couple more ravens stop by, but don't take a thing. And at 5:53, a sentinel or lookout bird flies in and lands in the tree at the top of the screen.
>> Fun fact, ravens use sentinels to not only manage risk, but to signal permission to the greater group to indulge. No matter how hungry the Ray Avengers are, no one chows until the sentinel gives the cue. There's a lot more to it than that, and it's actually remarkably rare and cool bird behavior, which is why we break it down in the extended version on YouTube. It's in the link. Click it. 6:59 p.m. After an hour of observing to assess the risk, the Sentinel finally cues his team to fly in. Three more Ray Avengers arrive on the scene. Immediately, followed by 20 or so more Raven who all land together and gather at attention on one side of the altar. These are the grunts. 7:02 p.m., a large dominant revenger arrives, pops up to the altar confidently, clearly with the authority to do so. And as that's happening, a fight breaks out among the other Ray Avengers.
Apparently, little buddy here did something wrong because the other Ray Avengers go to town, tustling him into the ditch and eventually chasing him off into the trees.
>> Sorry, little Hannah. Note that they don't injure him though or her. That's not what this is about. It's a hierarchy thing. Then at 10 after 7, more than an hour after the Sentinel first perched up, it finally abandons its post, cues the other ravens to dig in, and the games begin. 706. A big bald raven snags the first peanut and fumbles, regaining it while the others apparently attempt to steal it from him. Rather than going for a peanut of their own, which would be way easier, they're trying to rob the taker score. Seconds later, another larger raven snags a duck egg, but before it can even get off the ground, it gets power slammed by like 30 of its homies who doggy pile on, going after the egg like a fumbled football. At this point, we're wondering, have we been making a huge mistake feeding these birds and causing them to harm each other? But you notice quickly, this isn't a vicious blood sport of demon ravens mauling one another to death for a shot at the yolk. No one's getting hurt. It's a highly sophisticated game the Raven Avengers invented that not only helps them bond and test the dominance hierarchy, it also ensures an equitable division of the bounty based on the raven's abilities. Take a minute to absorb that this group of ravens not only communes in unheard of numbers.
They know that they can reframe it and they've baked it into their social structure as a mechanism of order. And if that doesn't belong on planet Earth, nothing does.
