NFL teams like the Philadelphia Eagles use draft weekend as a strategic opportunity to make significant roster improvements through trades, targeting specific players at positions of need while managing player contracts and team dynamics. Teams often have multiple contingency plans (Plan A, B, C, D) and may pursue veteran players or draft picks to address roster weaknesses, as demonstrated by the Eagles' interest in Jonathan Greenard and other players during the 2026 draft weekend.

The Eagles Just REVEALED Their MAJOR Trade Plans Before The NFL Draft… (AJ Brown, Greenard & MORE)Added:
The Eagles major trade plans for the NFL draft may have just been revealed as a huge report just dropped saying that Howie Roseman and the Birds are looking to make a big splash this weekend. And while Jonathan Grard is the top target, there are plenty of other players that they could be after as well. Meanwhile, the Eagles are back in the building for offseason training, but there's no sign of AJ Brown. And the latest reporting on him makes it seem like his time in Philadelphia is very likely over, while the Birds themselves are preparing for life without him. So, let's talk about all that and more starting right now.
So, it is officially NFL draft week and for the Eagles, there's a million different ways that this could go. And personally, I'm just so ready for the draft at this point. And I cannot wait to see who the Eagles take, not just in round one, but in all seven rounds total. And based on Howie Roseman's draft history as the Eagles GM, especially recently in the last 5 years, I'm pretty confident that the birds are going to dominate in the draft once again. But the new draft picks might not be the only new players that Philly ends up adding on the biggest weekend of the NFL off seasonason as Adam Shfter just dropped a new bombshell report that Howy Roseman could also be looking to swing a big time trade for a veteran. And I got to tell you, the possibilities there are really exciting. Plus, Shfter also gave us a quote unquote update on AJ Brown's trade fate. And I know it's not what most of us were hoping for. Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same, and now it's here.
>> But first, let's start on the positive side of things. And drop a like down below for this. Let's see if we can hit at least 500 likes today cuz it really does seem like the Eagles could swing a big trade for a highle player this weekend. As Adam Sher wrote, quote, "The Eagles could make trades beyond any Brown related move. League sources say that general manager Howey Roseman is plotting to make a deal on draft weekend. Roseman usually has a trick or two up his sleeve and other front office executives suspect there's one coming this week. So there you have it. Legit reporting that Howie is expected to be active on the trade market during the draft which that's certainly no surprise. But it does get me excited about what positions and what players specifically the Eagles could be targeting. And we already do know one of them that being Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Grenard. As we know that the birds have been interested in trading for him since back around the start of free agency. And even though talks have died down since then, Shfter says that they could heat back up during the draft. As he wrote, quote, "League sources say the Eagles and Vikings could revisit discussions they already have had during the upcoming draft, but talks have lost steam in recent weeks. The Eagles wish list of trade candidates goes well beyond Granard, though, per sources. Roseman almost always has a plan A, B, C, and D, and his team is one to monitor on one of the busiest weekends of the NFL calendar. So, it's pretty clear that the Eagles have their eye on a bunch of different guys, but it's also clear that Granard is at the top of their list. And I've talked about him many times before on this channel, so I'll keep it brief. But I absolutely love Jonathan Grard. I think he's a great player, and assuming he stays healthy, he's a guy that can be on the field all three downs and is going to give you around 10 to 12 sacks this season. So, if Howey and company could get him for a good price and not overpay on a new contract, I think adding Grenard to this already elite Eagles defense that could just use a little more pass rushing help could be the perfect move for them. Grard's not their only option at edge rusher, though, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they just wind up trading for a guy that we haven't even really thought about at all. And that's oftent times how it goes. But there are a few dream targets.
Obviously, the two biggest ones being Max Crosby or Miles Garrett, both of which I highly doubt the Eagles could actually get. But obviously there's been trade buzz there for both of those guys this off seasonason especially Crosby.
So not expecting that at all but who knows. And then also what about someone like Josh Sweat as earlier this offseason we got reports that he had requested a trade from the Cardinals.
Now one of his teammates denied that and the mainstream media hasn't really picked up this story. So who knows if there's any truth to that but if Sweat were available I would love a reunion as his contract is great value and he obviously was awesome during his time in Philly. And then there's Kavon Tibido, who I think is the most realistic target of the guys that I've mentioned, although still not super super realistic just because he's on the Giants and obviously they're a division rival, but he's going into the last year of his contract and New York likely isn't going to pay him. So, a trade right now just so they can get value for him makes sense. And in that case, I think the Eagles are a really good fit. Or what about maybe a safety? Cuz, you know, that's probably the Eagles biggest position to need right now. And I mean again, it probably would be a guy that we're not even thinking about, but there have been rumors this offseason that someone like Jesse Bates could be a guy that maybe the Eagles target if they want to make a splash trade at that position, which obviously Bates would be an amazing addition to this Eagles defense and secondary, especially if you could get him for the right price. But the cap hit is large and the odds that the Falcons actually trade him are probably pretty low, but still something to think about. And then there's also Buddha Baker, who's another guy that the Eagles have been linked to over the years. Again, don't think this is super likely, but he's 30 years old and has a few years left on his deal. And the Cardinals clearly are not in win now mode, so it would make sense for them to get some value for him now while they can. So maybe the Eagles could give them an offer that they can't refuse and get a star safety in the secondary. Who knows? I mean, again, I doubt it. I don't think that's super likely, but just thought I'd throw it out there, especially since Baker has been a guy that's been listed as a trade candidate for a long time. and wide receivers.
Another position that the Eagles could look to add at as well, and two guys that I've seen mentioned a few times there are Brian Thomas Jr. from the Jags, who I think would be an awesome addition. I mean, he had a great rookie season. And, you know, last year was a little bit of a step back, but still a very good and talented player. And then also another Arizona Cardinal in Marvin Harrison Jr. who hasn't lived up to the hype in Arizona, but still has insane upside. And then a name that has come up in some trade rumors very recently is DK Medaf, which I'll say that's absolutely wild and I doubt this happens. I mean, the Steelers literally just traded for him last off seasonason. And he's got a huge cap hit, but Spot Track did list him as a trade candidate for Pittsburgh if they want to do a rebuild and flip him for some draft assets. So, you know, I thought I'd mention that. Regardless of who it is, though, it certainly seems like Howy is going to trade for somebody this draft weekend. And I'm super pumped to find out who it's going to be. Who knows, maybe it's multiple people.
Getting back to Sher's report though, obviously I was talking about trading for a receiver there. And in that case, that obviously means that AJ Brown would have had to have been traded. And as much as I really do still want him to say, I can't lie to you guys. Like, it really is seeming like a trade is very likely to happen and probably to the Patriots. as the big quote unquote story of the day on Monday is that an AJ Brown trade to the Patriots is expected to go down after June 1st with Adam Shfter saying that in his article and also tweeting out quote the Eagles remain open to trading AJ Brown. The Patriots remain highly interested in acquiring the star receiver and conversations are expected to resume shortly on or before June 1st, likely culminating in a deal per League sources. As one source said about the Patriots pursuit of Brown, they'll quote definitely be engaging then. A trade to New England is now considered likely.
>> Well, duh.
>> I mean, honestly, guys, like it just feels like it's been the same reports recycled over and over again at this point. And you know, Chev's not really saying anything that we didn't already know. He's just now overemphasizing it that a trade probably is going to happen. I mean, as much as I hope I'm wrong about this, it's just it's getting hard to deny that. But again, it seems like a trade's probably coming at this point just given all the info we have.
Also, Nick Fo's recent comments on it.
And most importantly, the fact that neither the Eagles or AJ or even the Patriots, which we'll get to them in a second, but none of them are shutting it down. Plus, it doesn't help that AJ didn't show up to the start of Eagles off training, which even though that's voluntary, a lot of the bigname players for the Eagles were there and AJ's usually in attendance for them. So, look, we'll see what happens after June 1st, but as of right now, with all the info we have, it's not looking great.
And I have a couple things to say about it. Number one being that at least it seems like the Eagles are going to be able to get a first round draft pick if a trade does happen. As Shfter says the potential deal is expected to include either a 2027 or 2028 first round pick.
So that's obviously great, especially since the Pats are likely going to have a higher pick in either of those years than they do this year at 31st overall, especially next year since they have a first place schedule. So hopefully the Eagles can get that and additional draft capital, which they should considering that the Dolphins got a first and a third for Gaylen Wadd, who's not as good as AJ. So I think the trade compensation for AJ has to start there. But also, I'll quickly say this, like this whole situation just absolutely sucks. I mean, how did we even get here? Why does AJ apparently not want to be here anymore?
Like, how did we even get to this point?
Like, it doesn't make any sense. I mean, two years ago, he was signing an extension saying that he wanted to retire an Eagle.
>> I'm so glad to be here, man. Guys, when I hang my cleats up, it's going to be in that uniform right there, man. I'm so blessed, man. I'm so thankful. Ready for the upcoming season, man. Go Birds. So, for it to presumably get to the point where he apparently wants to be traded two years later and just one year after winning a Super Bowl makes absolutely no sense to me. Now, a lot of people are speculating that AJ wants to go chase individual greatness now, including Zack Burman, who said this on 975 The Fanatic.
>> AJ's been very transparent about what he wants. You know, he he wants to be the best receiver in the NFL, right? and he he feels he he can be and that you know that hasn't necessarily been the case these past two years when you just look at the amount of work that he's been you know the amount of touches that he's that he's that he's been getting whether you look at it from an offense perspective from a quarterback perspective from a personnel perspective uh that AJ's one of the best players in the league. He's you know and I'm going into year 15 covering Eagles. He's the best wide receiver I've seen um in an Eagles uniform. And he he's on a Hall of Fame trajectory, but he has the talent to be, you know, one of the best ever, right? And uh the reality is that if you just look at it, you know, the targets that he gets, the catches that he gets, it's not up there with like, you know, top three, top five in the NFL. And and so, um you know, you can say winning trumps all he's he's won a Super Bowl.
uh and he the the the team has been wildly successful since he's been here.
Uh but but he but he even said like you know he wants more and so I think that there's probably a two to fouryear window here where he still kind of has what you're looking for in a number one receiver and my guess is he wants to maximize that.
>> Look the reason AJ is on a Hall of Fame trajectory is because of what he's done with the Eagles. Not with the Titans with the Eagles. like he's averaged more targets per game in Philly than he did with Rabel in Tennessee. So, I just don't get this at all. Like, it doesn't make any sense that he would want to go join up with Rael now and, you know, supposedly chase individual greatness when the majority of his success has come in Philadelphia. And also, it's extremely frustrating as a fan if this is true, that AJ truly does value individual success and numbers more than he values winning. And as a result, seems he's forcing his way out in the middle of a huge contract extension.
Like, that really annoys me. No doubt.
No way around that. But at the same time, like, you know, technically, I guess we don't know what's going on. AJ hasn't said it himself. But it sucks cuz I love AJ and I think he's been a great eagle. He's been one of my favorite players the last four years. And if he truly is leaving, it's going to suck to see him go. And even with the way that it's ending, I'm still always going to be grateful for everything that AJ did while he was here, it just sucks that it's gotten to this point. And I will say this, like, it really does piss me off that the Patriots and Mike Rabel are about to straight up get away with this.
as the NFL is reportedly not investigating the whole situation between Vrabel and Diana Rousini, which is just absolutely insane and it makes no sense. I mean, given the fact that Vrabel's actions are quite literally a direct violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy, assuming he did what we think he did, which given the fact that both he and Rousini not only coordinated their responses to the press after the photos got leaked, but Rousini also couldn't provide any evidence, not one single photo or text message proving that she was on a girl's trip like she claimed to be. Doesn't exactly look good to me based on the evidence. And what makes it even worse is that the Patriots tried to cover it up as they apparently attempted to stop Page 6 from publishing the photos. Yet, it seems like they and Rabbel are just going to walk away scot-free, which is just it's absolutely unbelievable. And I haven't even mentioned the whole tampering side of things with AJ Brown. I mean, Adam Sheper just said that the Eagles will likely get a first round pick out of a trade, but here's Rousini just a few months ago at the NFL combine.
>> If AJ gets traded, what do you think the Eagles get in return?
>> Oh, wow. You know, it's funny. I was poking around on it before the trade deadline just in case they did it.
>> Yeah.
>> Um >> Oh, >> I think they they get a second rounder.
>> A second rounder.
>> Yeah, I think they get a second rounder.
>> Certainly seems like they were trying to lower AJ Brown's trade value to me. I mean, man, this whole thing freaking pisses me off. And it baffles me that the NFL isn't at least looking into it.
Like, I don't know how that's possible, especially when Vrabel finally talked to the media today and he basically admitted that he did it. You know, I've had some difficult conversations with people that I care about, with my family, the organization, the coaches, the players. Um, those have been positive and productive. You know, we believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions. That includes me. That starts with me. Um, we never want our actions to negatively infect affect the team. uh we never want to be the cause of a distraction, you know, and what I those are comments and questions that I've answered for the team and with the team. We'll keep those private and you know to ourselves.
>> So Rael essentially admits that there's at least something sketchy going on here and still there's no investigation apparently which again that that's just unbelievable. Now who knows maybe something changes. Maybe the NFL does decide to investigate, which they should. But whether there was tampering or there wasn't tampering, something was going on here. And it's insane to me that the Pats are going to get away with this. It seems like to get back on the positive side of things though, I will say that I think it's very possible for the Eagles to be all right and still be wildly successful without AJ. I mean, obviously not having him makes them a worse team. And I'm not going to pretend like it doesn't, but think about it.
Like it's not like the Eagles have relied on having this super high-powered passing offense the past few years anyway, including the Super Bowl year. I mean, just take a look back through the Eagles playoff games with AJ on the team. There were five instances in which AJ didn't even reach 30 receiving yards.
And Philly won all but one of those games, that being the 49ers game this past season. So, the birds can win without AJ, even if it's tougher.
They're just going to be relying on a few things. One, the defense has to stay dominant, which I think that they will.
Two, the offensive line needs to be healthy and the run game needs to look way better than it did last year, which all signs point to improvements there, but we'll have to see. Three, Devonte Smith needs to step up and become that true wide receiver one for this team, which if you've been watching my channel these past few months, you know that if AJ isn't here, I think Smitty is going to become a top five receiver this season. And then lastly, Shawn Manion needs to pan out as a good offensive coordinator and play caller. And we won't know what's going to happen there until the season. But as I've said all offseason, I'm very excited and optimistic about it. And speaking of optimism, after seeing some of the photos from the bird's first day back at voluntary OTAAS, I think we're going to be okay. You know, maybe I'm just a delusional fan as per usual, but it was nice to see guys like Jaylen Herz and Seaquan back in the building smiling.
You know, you got Landon Dickerson here, Nolan Smith, Cooper Deene, Quan Mitchell, and then some of the new additions like Elijah Moore and the most exciting one for me being Tariq Woolen.
Super pumped to see those guys and I truly am optimistic about this season, even with everything going on with AJ.
Plus, Jaylen Herz has been in the lab. I mean, I don't know if you've seen some of these photos, but QB1 has been locked in this off seasonason working hard, and I'm just super excited again to see him and Shawn Manion's new look offense. I think he's going to have a phenomenal year, and I'll probably be even more optimistic after the birds add a bunch of players in the draft, and that includes any potential trade. By the way, one other thing to look out for in this draft is a possible move of Tanner McKe as ESPN actually recently said that his market could heat up during the NFL draft, which makes total sense with him going into the last year of his contract and the trade interest with him stemming all the way back to last offseason. So, we'll keep our eye on that. And again, I am just so fired up for the draft for so many reasons. And I can't wait to see who the Eagles add to their team, which by the way, I should have a video out tomorrow going over a bunch of the Eagles potential draft prospects, as well as I should be live for the first round on Thursday night. So, if you don't want to miss any of that, make sure you guys subscribe and you turn on notifications. And also, drop a like down below to show some support because it really does help me out a ton. Let's see if we can get to at least 500 likes today. That would be greatly appreciated. And also, hit the like button cuz that helps me out a ton as well. And leave a comment just regarding anything that I talked about in this video. Who do you think the Eagles should trade for? Just give me your thoughts down in the comments. And also, if you do want to watch another Eagles video diving into Howie's long and very successful draft history with the Eagles, you can check this out right here. And now, with all that being said, that's pretty much all I got for this one, guys. So, thank you all so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video.
