I Made a WORKING WATERMILL in Terraria! | 1.4.5 Building!Añadido:
Hello everyone and today I want to try something different. I am very very uneducated when it comes to wiring in Terraria and I want to learn so that I can build up a really cool watermill which is what we're going to be doing today. The first thing I'm going to try and build is a shift register which is something which allows you to kind of consecutively go across a line and I need that for like precise movements of the uh the windmill fans. Now, for now, I'm just going to be building up this little mechanism, which I am pretty much taking directly from the Steam community guide of wiring and stuff just so I can try and get like a good baseline of something and maybe try and refine it.
However, it's probably refined to its absolute best. So, let's see if we can build this up. I'm going to say I bring it down through here and I put another junction box there and bring it up to there with a junction box there. And does that work better? Yes, that's working. Oh, great. Look at that. We have a little windmill. Okay, we have our circuit working, which means now it's time to do the build. After doing a uh a lot of designing and a lot of failing, this is what I've come up with.
It is a mess of wires and a mess of a thing. But when we turn it on, you can see it works. Yay. I just need to get the wiring worked out better. I'm at least trying to, if it's possible, split or switch the wire color at some point, but I just don't know how possible that would be. So, for now, this is good. It looks like it moves. And you can even use it as a little elevator. See, look at me go. Wait, look at look at me go.
Oh, damn it. Okay, never mind. But this is what we have. And we're going to be now building from this to make a watermill, which hopefully will work.
Um, I need to somehow build around the junction boxes or at least move them to a better location. I want to try and keep them all pretty down here, but there is a lot of crossing over of wires and stuff, which is easier to build around said than done. But I think the best way to do it is just to start building and see if I can get something that looks good. So, my main plan for this is to have it look like and that's going to keep getting actuated. Damn it.
Okay, there we go. I need to remove all the actuators that aren't actually on anything. So, let me quickly do that. Is that all of them? Yeah, that's all of them. Nice. Okay, now that we have No, I missed one right there. Sneaky one. And now that we have this built, we can start building up on the actual water tower itself. Well, not a tower. Why' I say tower? I don't know. But I actually Oh, what have I done? No, no, no, no, no. Oh jeez. Okay, that nearly went horribly, horribly wrong. Uh, but what I was saying is I need to build up the dirt a little bit more just so I can get enough height for the build. And my plan is just to kind of build it up to here.
And then once we've got that, I will go over with my wand of regrowth, staff of regrowth, axe of regrowth, ax of regrowth, and spread all the grass along. And then we're going to start going in and doing some little things here and there. So, this is not very simple. I will be completely honest there. This is an absolute abomination.
But I think it looks good and it actually works, which is, you know, the only thing I was actually trying to get done. Now, large bamboo down through there, which is okay, I guess. And then I also want to use some more fences. And I honestly might just use ebonwood fence here and rich mahogany wood fence here.
If I build up the fence, just going through like that, then having it something like this, and then filling in the dirt again. And I can paint that green and make like a little flower bush, maybe. Yeah, that's a good idea.
I'm going to grab myself some pink paint. And hopefully normal pink paint will do the right color. It's quite light, but maybe that will work with some living leaf wool. Like that. It kind of looks like a little flower bush.
Yeah, I don't want to hammer it. I don't want to break it accidentally, but that works for now. And then with that done, we can now move on to actually building up the main part of it, which we are going to need some green slab brick wall or just green slab wool actually. And we're just going to build that through around here. Now, I am trying to avoid placing it around there. But I can also just use some mahogany living leaf painted green, which I think I'll just do quickly. That is deep green. We do not want deep green. No, no, no, no, no.
But I do want one there. Just like that.
And then if I actuate Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Oh wait. No. Damn it. Okay, I need to turn this off. There we go. And now I can actually actuate these properly. There we go. And then remove them. There we go. Okay, that's a bit better. So we have our little bush here which we are literally only having there to disguise the fact that there is a junction box there or jun is it called junction box? Yeah, junction box. It's literally just there to disguise the junction box. And now part of me wants to hammer this stuff. I just don't know if that will look good. The answer is no, it doesn't. So, we won't do that. We might maybe use some platforms, but then that's going to ruin the look of everything else. But maybe we won't do that. Now, I am placing in this green brick here just mainly kind of look like moss has grown up. So, I just want to kind of dither a little bit around like this. So, it looks like there's some little bits of moss towards the bottom cuz this is a water wheel after all. And that looks pretty good. I will use some echo wall just through like this to give it a bit more of some shape around there. And I might add a water stream down here at some point. So, we'll see how that goes. But for now, we will build across like this. Wait a second.
Can I echo coat junction boxes? Cuz if I can, that is going to be so handy. Oh my gosh, that is amazing. Okay, I can completely get rid of these floating ones over here then. That is perfect.
Okay, great. However though, this one here painted gray might look awful.
Okay, never mind. Never mind. But for now, with our little bits painted like that, we can start working on the actual house. And for that, we need our bamboo and our ashwood again. So, these kind of houses usually from what you see are quite elevated off the ground. And I have some photos as like reference here on my phone. That is mainly just so I can get a decent idea of the shape I want to do this in. Now, it's not going to be super easy because at some point I want to almost build behind this or at least have it connected to something, which is going to be a little bit difficult. But if I actually have my paint sprayer on with the correct colors, we can start to build up our little area here cuz we do want a little area that connects out the front so that we can like quote unquote monitor the wheel. And that would be something like this. And then we'd also just build it out to there. And then replace this top bit with ashwood instead. Like that. And then I'll just do something over here as well. There we go. And then we have our little wheel here, which I think I might just fill with, if I was to That looks so weird. What if I tried using some silly balloon? Just some green silly balloon painted this color. And then I would fill in this back bit here with some wood wool. And I'm thinking I can literally just get away with doing that.
And that should still look okay. It does. Okay, nice. Perfect. And then I could even maybe try and sneak some around here just to help with the smoothing. It's not going to really turn on or off, but it gives a better look to the overall shape of the build itself.
And I could probably try and sneak some down here as well and around here like that. Now, there is those little gaps there, but that can be filled in relatively easily. Or I could just leave them. I will leave that. And then go with some gray painted Ebonstone brick wall through here. And maybe get rid of some of this and use some fences instead into brown. And that looks better. Yes, it does look better. Okay, nice. And I could maybe even get away with some ashwood wall just behind there. So, it looks like it connects a little bit better, but I don't know if that really works. So, I think I will leave that for now. Or I could try a piece of boral wood there. I guess the boral wood works, but I'm not going to do that. But now what I'm going to do is build this up a little bit wonky. Not intentionally. Oh, wait. No, that's another issue right there. This junction box. That's fine. I can build it around it like that. Now, down here is going to be just kind of like your little millhouse looking. Oh jeez, this mill house. A mill house or a grainery, whatever you want to call it. So, I want some barrels, not painted preferably.
And I want one up there, but maybe I'll do it up there instead. So, I want to get myself a crate. And for this, I'll just use a normal wooden crate. And what kind of looks like flour? Pixie dust kind of looks like flour. So, if I get myself a item frame, put a piece of pixie dust into it. And echo coat the top two bits here. It kind of looks like there's some pixie dust there or some flowers. Sorry. So, now if I go behind and place something like that and just one there like that. That looks pretty cool. And I kind of want to add some brass shelf just across here with some more wood fence like that. And maybe some boreal wood fence, not boreal, brush mahogany wood fence below that.
And then paint all of that like that.
And that looks pretty cool. So it kind of looks like there's a barrel here with like a top of a lid kind of cracked open. And there's some flour here. And then what's another thing? You'd kind of have an extrainator. Kind of looks like a milling thing, doesn't it? So if I put that there. Now I don't believe we have a middle point in this build. So that's six. And that's six. No. So this is the middle point here. Okay. But it also connects to this bit here. So that's actually pretty perfect. Now inside of a mill, you would have some rope spinning something connected to something like this. And then under here, I will pop in another fence there. Paint that. And then paint all of this. And then this is going to be kind of our thing which connects into the grain sorting bit. I might paint that gray instead. Maybe use chains instead of that. We'll see how that looks. And I could maybe even add a little bit of rust by grabbing my brown paint and just doing some little bits around here. Now up here, I want to grab my ashwood if it was painted. And actually replace this with bamboo going through like this. Maybe not on the top actually, but I will do it there. And then hammer these ones down into little support beams like that, which will then be connected to some meteorite brick wall. Once I have found a way to connect to something up here which connects into this down to here and for that we might need some more silly balloon. So with our gray paint back on we will just do something like this which will then connect down into that which in turn pumps this thing here. And usually this is stored in the attic which is perfect cuz this is where our roof is going to be. And for this I kind of want to use some dynasty shingles which I haven't used in a while. So by using some red and also cleaning out my inventory of everything I don't need. right now.
There we go. And then using some red and green shingles, I should be able to build something that looks pretty cool.
But I might actually, yeah, shift this all down to just be three instead. Now, I've been trying to get better at building roofs, and I think I am coming along relatively well. I just want something relatively simple for that side there. Something relatively simple on this side here, like that. But now, we do need a little area here where other rope or chain would come out. Oh, I don't know. How would you connect that to that? you would actually kind of have it turning a turbine behind this which would usually lead to a vertical thing going into the room which would then go straight down to that. So, we're doing this in a bit of a different way. I kind of want a bit piece of cog in the middle there because that that kind of looks cool. So, instead maybe I got some cogs and hammered these down and it looks like a little mechanism doing its thing powering down into that and then connecting that across which is going to be the difficult bit but I don't know if I'll do that just yet. I'll leave it like that for now. And I need to do one more meteorite brick wall on the side there. And then in here, I kind of want to have some windows cuz you'll usually see windows in these little places like this. So, we need some, you know, I'll just use shingles for this as well.
Actually, no, that looks weird. Maybe instead I will use some Evansstone brick cuz that's a bit smoother. And then instead of using some actual windows or some glass, I might just use a little bit like that. No, but then it wouldn't be valid housing. Okay, we do kind of need to use I could use a brass shelf instead. Just like that. And then it would be considered valid housing. Yes.
And then with a little bit of gray painting in some little bits like this, like that. And then I will do that across the bottom here. And also across there, which I will then follow up with my different kinds of walls. So we'll start with our aboard going across and through these bits here. And then we will have our bamboo kind of coming straight through the middle of these bits here. That looks pretty good so far. The only issue is this feels too disconnected from the build. I mean, to be fair, you wouldn't really have an exit going to this if it was like an actual mill. You'd have it kind of going down and through. But maybe what I will actually do before I do anything else is add a little bit of water here. It kind of goes down. Or maybe building up like an actual pool here. Not that much though. then leads down through all of this and then just hammering down here like that. So then we have our little waterfall that kind of goes down and through. I should still be able to finoodle my way through here. There we go. And that looks quite nice. Obviously there should be a bit more water, a bit more of a basin. But I can't really do that cuz we are in the other world. So can't really build it through there. But what I will do now is grab myself some pinewood wall and maybe some spooky wood wall. How would the spooky wood wall look? cuz I want to kind of do that through this bit here to give it a bit of like an old dingy building look. I should probably put the doors in first before I do anything else. I want to use some dungeon doors on there. Oh no. Oh, is there wiring there? Oh, there is too.
Okay. Okay. If I was to place it Where's the door gone? I've lost the door. Okay, but if I was to That's the wrong door again. Place it there. What's that being powered by? There's no Oh, there is wires there. Okay, maybe we just don't have a a door there. We just block it off. That might be the better way to do it if I had my paint sprayer on. And then just some bits of ashwood going out there. Actually, no. I think I prefer it being shorter like that. Then also shorter on this side as well then. So it's a little bit topheavy, but I do not see an issue there. And we have the door like that. I might actually swap the place for that and have it going around that way unpainted preferably. Yeah, like that is good. And then I just need to fill in some more of these walls here. I kind of want to have them poking out under there. And I will very quickly echo coat these just so I don't have to stare at them all day. Oh, I've had an idea. Using some streamers. What is that thing? Whoa, that is so cool. I'm getting distracted. Okay, using some streamers, I could build up like a little thing that kind of connects across. I wanted to kind of go bang bang up and then Why can't I place anything there? Oh, cuz there's the junction box there. Okay, I'm going to have to build around that. But I wanted to kind of go across like this. I think I'll just turn that on for a second. And maybe so it kind of goes up and across. That may not work actually, unless I just pretty much have what I was thinking of already doing, and that is doing a line of wood that goes out to here with a chain that runs from up and down into gray like that with something like this. And then some fences there connecting into a quote unquote ear which I think I'll actually use a cog for instead. Then with my chains again going across like this into the box looking thing here which is going to be a bit difficult to get to work fully. However, I actually think I prefer the look of the silly balloon there cuz it's actually circular. It needs to be bigger though.
So I might do a four 2x two there connecting it up like that. And that still looks quite weird. So maybe just some cogs instead. Just like that. Is that weird? Yeah, it's weird. I'm I'm just going to stick with the silly balloon for now. And then we have that looking like it's all being powered. But I do want to get some platform work done in here as well. So if I have my correct paint applied like that, into some boreal into some brass shelf. And then I'll just quickly actuate these which shouldn't be affected. There we go. And then I'll just remove those. And I think now I'm going to fill in most of this with my iron wall just through here and such. But I think I will use a piece of rich mahogany wood fence there just so we can both get some light and also the color correct. And then I need to place one of those there. And that's coming along quite nicely. So I will just do something like this as well just so we have something to stand on a bit better.
It's going to be a little bit wonky, but this whole building process kind of is.
And that's what you get when you come to my channel. Absolute wonky building, but sometimes it looks nice. And I will get myself some glass for these windows in the back here. And I will just place 1 2 3 4 5 6 followed by a little bit more.
Maybe spooky wood across the top instead. Yes, spooky wood across the top is the way to go with that. I'll just pop those ones back in. And you know what? I think I will actually use glass for these here. or at least rich mahogany wood fence would be better than what I was previously using which was just some ebon fence and that's looking good. Now for the roof I am tempted to just go in with some Evansstone brick wall and see how that looks as a start.
That looks nice. I just need to replace this with some of the brown sorry the gray painted boreal wood and I can't move through there cuz those are blocks.
So, I need to actuate those with some white paint on them first, and they are not going to be disrupted. There we go.
That looks pretty good. I just need to turn off my goggles. And that looks pretty good. Yeah, I quite like how that looks. I might just chuck some furniture up here, like cage lantern there, unpainted, actually, if it would. Thank you very much. And then repaint that brown in the background. There we go.
Then I will add myself in a bookshelf cuz who doesn't like to read a book while they're milling their stuff. And I think for this I'm tempted to use a flink fur, but it's just not the right sort of consistent color I'm looking for. So maybe I see bonus looks awful.
Ashwood bookcase is just too purple.
Might even place it down because I need to unactuate that. So I think I'll quickly do that and swap it out for something a bit darker like some boreal.
So, I think I'm going to do that around all of these and then reactate them just because then we can actually place furniture on them a lot better. And then we'll see how that looks with the ashwood unpainted. Or should we put the ashwood over here? No, we need to have we need room for a table. And I'm thinking just an Edinwood table will be fine with a ashwood chair. I think I'll paint these ones as well. Would a sandstone chair look better? No, it doesn't. The answer is no, it doesn't.
Okay, I forgot to echo coat this one.
There we go. So, that's how it's looking at the moment. I'm not sure which well else I really want to add. Obviously, the water isn't actually touching because to be able to do that, it would be a lot more difficult. But, you know what? Let's try it. Let's see what I can do. So, I'm going to grab myself a bunch more dirt. And we are going to fill this up to about here and fill this all with water. Maybe not that much water. And then just have it sort of stop here for now. And unpaint those like that. Looks nice. I squeeze my way through there.
Yeah, that looks nice. Very, very quaint. Very cute. I can also get rid of this now. And I think I'll also get rid of some of this in here. And fill that water back in just until it's touching the tops of them. Like that. Perfect.
And just do something like that as well.
And that looks nice. I just need to fill in this bottom bit now, which is not too difficult at all. And then grab myself some of my rich mahogany fences and just pop them through like this. I think I'll just do that down there as well. And there we go. That is our little millhouse pretty much done. I'm just trying to think what else I really want to add. And I'm honestly not too sure.
I'm quite happy with how this looks. I managed to get the uh the spinny thing working. We have our little mechanism down here, which is literally just a sequencer with a lot of wiring going up and into this. I could definitely optimize the wiring, but I'm not going to cuz that's not my style. I just dropped some water. I'm an idiot. But yeah, I'm really happy with how this is.
It's a very, very different style build to what I would normally do. mainly just because it's actually moving and animated. But I really hope you've enjoyed this video. If you have, make sure to leave a like and maybe even consider subscribing if you're not already. But anyways, that's all for now. See you.
