Moon Meets Up With Antares On May 28 and 29

[00:00:00]Hi, I'm Marcy with EarthSky. The waxing gibbous moon can guide you to Antares in the constellation of Scorpius on the evenings of May 28th and 29th.

[00:00:10]On the evening of May 28th, the waxing gibbous moon will lie near the bright red star Antares in the constellation of Scorpius, and it'll be close to Libra's brightest star Zubenelgenubi.

[00:00:21]Then on the evening of May 29th, the moon will be getting closer to Antares.

[00:00:26]Antares' nickname is the scorpion's heart.

[00:00:29]Scorpius the scorpion is visible now in the evening sky. Scorpius is one of the few constellations that resembles its name. Look for the letter J or a fishhook pattern of stars in the sky.

[00:00:40]You can catch the moon, Scorpius, and Antares after sunset. They'll be visible until almost dawn the next morning.
