India Battles Heat And Rain: Multiple States Under Weather Watch | WION Climate TrackerAdded:
Now, India is staring at a sharp weather divide with North India bracing for severe heat wave while several southern and eastern states face heavy rain, thunderstorm, and strong winds. The India Meteorological Department has now issued multiple alerts as temperatures continue to rise across the country. In parts of northwest and central India are expected to see temperatures rise by as much as 3 to 5° C over the next few days. The India weather department has warned of heat wave to severe heat wave conditions across states including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Well, in some areas of North India, daytime temperatures are expected to cross 45° C. Authorities have urged people to avoid direct sunlight and stay hydrated as well as limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours. The IMD has also warned of increased health risks for children, elderly people, and those with chronic illnesses.
Now, at the same time, a completely different weather system is impacting southern India, eastern, and northeastern states as well. Heavy rain, a thunderstorm, and lightning, as well as gusty winds have been forecast for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, and several other states. The IMD has issued alerts for multiple regions warning of possible waterlogging, travel disruptions, and strong winds reaching up to 80 km/h in some places. Kerala is also expected to receive intense pre-monsoon showers as conditions become favorable for the advance of the southwest monsoon.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal due to rough weather conditions.
Well, for more updates on this, our principal correspondent Disha Yadav have sent us a report from Mumbai.
Maharashtra is battling with intense heat wave with IMD issuing a heat wave warning for several districts here in the state of Maharashtra. Vidarbha is the most affected region is what the IMD claims with several districts like Nagpur, Akola, Amravati under scorching temperatures of nearly 46° C.
In fact, farmers in those areas are purely in distress because of the harvesting season, the crops are in the open which is getting damaged. So, that is one of the concern which farmers are facing in that specific region. Another of course point of view is that hot and humid conditions as well as climate is expected to take place in India's financial capital city Mumbai, Thane as well as nearby areas where people of course have been advised to stay indoors during peak temperatures in the afternoon. Stay hydrated and also look out for measures for dehydration.
In the end, what we also understand we are going to see a contrast weather changing pattern as well in several other parts of the state like Pune. We are expecting a rain storm or a thunder storm sort of an activity likely this week according to IMD. This is Disha reporting here for V on from Mumbai.
