Collom provides a rigorous anatomical breakdown that demystifies the "superhuman," turning a viral performance into a textbook study of vocal efficiency. It is a sharp reminder that what we call genius is often just an extraordinary command of physical limits.

Dimash’s ‘Stranger’ Is Almost Inhuman… (Vocal Analysis Breakdown)Añadido:
Well, good day guys. Steve Collum here, as a music industry pro with my music being used on thousands of TV shows and many leading international brands. I'm going to give you my hidden song analysis and vocal analysis of Dimash's song Stranger. Now, you guys have recommended this one, so I'm uh I've taken a listen. I've never heard this before. So, this is going to be a first time reaction. I already know Dimash is an amazing singer. He gives us a master class on how to sing. And so, I know that we're in for a treat here. Um so, if you've seen this before, you already know what you're in for. And for me, I don't know. So, we're going to dive in and just see what we see what we have here. So, without talking too much, let's go ahead Let's go ahead and dive in.
That is a really cool instrument.
What an intro. Big thumb.
>> [music] >> Now, I've seen a lot of Well, not a lot of them, but four or five of Dimash's songs. Now, he can sing. There is no doubt about it. And a lot of the time, he There's not There hasn't been much of a um uh much of a show, much of a performance like other than his performance, because that's enough, you know, that's that's perfect, you know, you don't need anything else. But, here we have a lot of cool stuff happening um right at the beginning. There's a you know, someone's starting off with this cello slash kind of um a stringed instrument. And then we got these candle holders here coming out. And there's lights everywhere. What a production already.
>> [music] >> The tempo's slowing down.
That's great.
>> [music] [music] >> Okay. So, he's done this a few times on his songs now. He starts so vulnerable, so uh quiet. Quiet. So, almost a whisper, but it's not. It's an actual sing. He's singing. He's actually He's got air flowing through. A whisper is more like a stop and start kind of thing. But, he's singing in this in this very airy, very breathy, very quiet, very cuz he's he's going to be going There's going to be dynamics here, I know. And so, he's really pulling back.
I love that's a lot of control, a lot of technique there.
Wow, this is a really cool performance.
Um one of the things that they're doing on the mixing point of things is they have a delay that happens after after he sings the delay. It did did did did did and you know, if you listen to headphones, you can really hear it. It's kind of ping pong. It's called a ping pong delay. And um it's very cool. I'm going to go back and you can hear that.
That's great.
Oh my goodness.
That is low. I don't think I've ever heard him sing this low before.
Uh that is very, very low. And he's not even using vocal fry or anything to get down there. He's just It's just got this range that that many people don't have. You know, he's got this extra part down low. I have to go back to that. I don't I've never heard him sing that low. I didn't know he can go that low. I know he can do six octaves, over six octaves. Um but, let's hear that again.
So, he's singing a an octave like extremely low. And then he just goes an octave up, which is just about normal.
But, it's an octave or higher. And he jumps really quick. He's going through through those uh through those different key or the um the different registers in a voice, just jumping through them so smooth, so quick.
>> [music] >> So, now he's shaping his mouth. He's creating his embouchure. He's shaping his mouth. And he's also opening up his throat a little bit more and getting more of that kind of uh a little bit more of a classical kind of sound. Very deep, very rich, very embellished um through his embouchure of shaping of his lips. You can see it right here. You can see uh that his lips are really shaped um to produce that sound.
>> [music] >> Love the different rhythms the drums have.
Wow.
>> [laughter] >> Okay, hang on, hang on, hang on. So, first of all, he went high up. And he's so he's in his mixed voice. Um uh he's in his mixed voice, so he's a little higher up. And then he jumps into more of a more of a head voice or more of a um where the where they call it the masking voice, where it's resonating in your mask, which is way up here.
A lot just happened there. Let me go back and hear that. That was awesome.
>> [music] >> Mix.
That's more head voice.
Now, he's more of that mask.
Whistle.
>> [music] >> All right. Okay.
So, he drops from the whistle I don't know how many octaves there.
Four or five octaves right way out way down from one end.
Talk about master class. This is probably the most amazing song I've heard of his um with when you talk about the range in the vocal vocal range that I've heard of him. I'm I'm kind of speechless. This is This is amazing.
>> [music] >> So low.
>> [music] [music] >> Love the key change.
Another key change.
>> [music] >> Love those chanting.
Uh back and forth.
>> [music] >> Microphone control.
>> [music] [crying] [music] >> How is that possible? Gosh. This song This song is definitely kind of left me speechless, but just I don't know just how is that possible? That's all I can say. There's so many things that he did that that is one in a billion people could do this. And I'm just I'm that's just absolutely amazing. His range and his control and how he's jumping through the passagio of going through those different vocal registers. Gosh. Wow.
Amazing. Amazing. What did you guys think about that song?
