[00:46:17]So, at our church, I like to say that beloved is not the home that you're looking for, but we are a signpost that helps you establish a home in the love of Jesus Christ. And after people find a home in his love, we want to raise up wholehearted followers of Jesus who carry his love into the world and spaces that God has called you to be. And the way we do that is by helping people behold Jesus and then we become like Jesus and then we be Jesus to those around us. In essence, it's encounter formation and mission. Our church exists for people to encounter Jesus. Amen. We want people to meet the love of God and be enamored and transformed by him. But after they meet him, we want them to be formed into his image and sent out to reflect his love.

[00:47:14]And the announcement that comes to this is one of the ways we're making more space for people to find a home in Jesus is we're moving all of NextGen services, which is infants to high school starting August 2nd to our first service at 9:30.

[00:47:30]Okay? So, we're trying to create more space as fall is coming for some of the college students and maybe some of you guys who like to sleep in more. But if you're a parent in this room, number one, God bless you. Uh if you have infants and toddlers, I'm sorry, but God bless you because I know how tough like life can be. But we're moving our infants and toddlers as well as nextgen to first service starting August 2nd.

[00:47:54]That's a big announcement to make more space here. And lastly, at this time, we're just going to transition into a time of tithes and offering. I was hanging out with my brother recently in Chicago and we were just talking and we're talking about church and we're just talking about life and he tells me he's like, "Will," he's an older brother, he used to be in ministry as well. And he he told me, "Will you know anytime I give offering I want to be reminded that this is an act of worship.

[00:48:23]It's not just donation. It's not just giving. where we were talking about how we want this to be an expression of gratitude and thanksgiving for how good and kind God has been. So, I want to just remind you as you guys are giving tithes and offering this morning that this is an expression of saying, "God, everything that I've received from you, I acknowledge it and I give a portion back to you as a sign of worship." Uh, when I was a little kid, as you could tell, I'm not preaching today, so I'm talking a little more. So, excuse me.

[00:48:57]But when I was a little kid in elementary school, whenever it was my mom's birthday, there was this tradition. I used to go to my mom's and say, "Mom, let me get $20." And she'd be like, "What you need it for?" I would like, "Don't worry about it. Let me just get $20." I would take my mom's money and I would go buy her some flowers and every now and then I'll buy her some perfume and I will give it to her and she will always laugh and say, "Oh, thank you, sweetheart. You bought this with mom's own money, huh? I'm like, yes. That is what tithes and offering are. It's saying, God, everything I give to you, I've already received it from you. But out of a place of gratitude and thanksgiving, I want to express my praise to you. So today, as we go into a time of giving, there's three different ways you can give behind me. You can give through online. You can give through text to give. Let's just take a moment and just acknowledge and say, God, everything I own belongs to you, and I give this as an act of trust and worship. Take a few moments to do so.

[00:52:21]Hope you guys are having a great morning. Wow, I see the summer tan. and I see the golden tan. I don't know if it's because you guys are hitting the beaches or making it out to beloved spaces, but I feel the need to confess something. Two weeks ago, I got up on stage and I was like, I made it out to beloved run space and I ran. And then I never went back again. So, I need to make it back out. I'm calling myself out, but I I prophesy and I I speak over myself that I'm going to make it out and I will join the faster group. And so, this is the plug for you guys. make it out to beloved spaces. It's a great time to meet people and uh just wanted to say that. And so today I'm going to transition us to our passage which is Matthew chapter 5. And I'm going to read the passage to you guys and we'll go into a moment of silence and stillness.

[00:53:13]Two minutes where we just calm ourselves before the Lord and then I'll get started with my message.

[00:53:20]So, Matthew 5, seeing the crowds, Jesus went up on the mountain.

[00:53:30]And when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

[00:53:44]Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

[00:53:54]Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

[00:54:02]Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

[00:54:12]And blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

[00:54:19]Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

[00:54:26]And blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad for your reward is great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Let's just take two minutes to be in silence and stillness before the Lord.

[00:56:06]So today we are continuing our series the upside down kingdom which William started for us three weeks ago.

[00:56:14]And this series is called the upside down kingdom because the people that Jesus calls blessed are not the people that you and I would think are blessed.

[00:56:25]And not only that, but it's called the upside down kingdom because we have an upside down king who does as not other kings have done. And in fact, in Luke 4, Jesus describes what kind of king he is when he says, "The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." And so this is Jesus the king that is walking amongst his people. And the current state of Israel during this time was hopelessness, weariness, desolation. They were a conquered people living under Roman occupation. They were without land, without a king. And it was a time of darkness politically, socially, and spiritually.

[00:57:26]And see, it's during this time Jesus enters the scene.

[00:57:31]hope has arrived in the form of a man and he proclaims the good news of the kingdom and the crowds start to follow Jesus.

[00:57:40]And in Matthew 5, it says that Jesus sits down and begins to teach him. And the crowds are the people who have started to follow Jesus, those that are listening to his teachings, the sick who are being healed, the outcasts who have been overlooked, the ones who are hurting.

[00:57:58]and he opens his mouth and begins to declare blessings over them. And today we find ourselves in the third biatitude, the third blessing when he says, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." So today I'm going to unpack three things for you guys. Who are the meek that Jesus is speaking about? What will they inherit?

[00:58:26]and how does that promise shape their lives and more specifically our lives today?

[00:58:34]And so let's start with blessed are the meek. Who is Jesus speaking about when he says blessed are the meek.

[00:58:43]And now before I start talking about what Jesus means by blessed are the meek, I want to start off by talking about what meekness is not. And in Jesus's context, meekness is not a personality trait. I think for some of us, when we think of the word meek, we might think of someone who is timid, someone who might be a little more shy or reserved, or someone who doesn't necessarily like speaking up. And in fact, one of my greatest insecurities growing up is that I was very timid and shy. And if my brother was here, he would disagree with me. He would say, "That's not true." But it's my story and my experience and my childhood. So I could say whatever I want. And one of my greatest insecurities is that I was very timid, very shy. And I felt like that is how people saw me, how people labeled me, and how I carried myself. In fact, I remember in junior high in my youth group days, there would be leaders that would put their hands on my head and pray for me and say like, "God, thank you for her meekness. God, thank you for her quiet strength." And then to my other friends, they would pray, "God, thank you that you've given them a fire.

[00:59:55]Thank you them that they're bold and courageous." And I remember when I would receive those type of prayers, I would roll my eyes in my heart because I'm timid. You know, I'd roll my eyes in my heart. And I would think there's nothing spiritual about what you're praying over me. You're saying I'm meek because I'm timid, because I'm shy, because I'm on the quieter side. And so growing up, I had this idea that meekness is weakness.

[01:00:19]It's someone that doesn't want to speak up. It's a certain personality.

[01:00:25]And so as I studied this this beatitude, I found that Jesus was not using the word meek as a personality trait. He wasn't using it as an adjective to describe someone's personality.

[01:00:43]In fact, when we go deeper into the word meek, the Greek translation of the word is prrow, which means gentle, humble, and mild. And this word prow was one of the most common ways to translate into Greek a Hebrew word, which is ani, which actually means afflicted. Someone who is lowly, outcast, and poor. And I want you guys to follow me because this matters.

[01:01:11]Why does this matter? It's because ani is used several times in the Septuagent, which was the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, widely used by the Jews during Jesus's time. So the Jews and the crowds that Jesus is preaching to is reading the Septuagent, which is the Greek translation of the Hebrew writing.

[01:01:32]You guys following me? And so some of the examples of when ani is used in the Old Testament in the Hebrew languages in Psalm 76:9 where it says from the heavens you uttered judgment. The earth feared and was still when God arose to establish judgment to save all the humble or the ani of the earth. The ani in this verse are the people who have wrong done against them. In Job 24:4 it says, "The wicked thrust the poor, the omni off the road, and the poor, the omni of the earth all hide themselves."

[01:02:12]In Psalm 40:17, it says, "But as for me," this is King David, not someone who's poor.

[01:02:20]But he says, "But as for me, I am poor and needy, and may the Lord think of me.

[01:02:26]You are my help and my deliverer." So he's not poor as a king, but he's being outcast. So he's saying I'm poor. I'm dependent. I'm afflicted. And so the biblical context of the word ani helps us understand who Jesus was calling meek when he says that the meek shall inherit the earth. And when we look at this context, we can boil it down to that Jesus defines the meek as the overlooked in society.

[01:02:55]They are the overlooked that Jesus was spending time with. They are the sick who were outcasts because of their physical conditions. They are the widows who had no means to secure a future for themselves. They are the prostitutes and tax collectors who were rejected by society. They are the lowly who were powerless, oppressed, and disregarded.

[01:03:18]This is who Jesus is saying is meek.

[01:03:23]And I wonder if there's anyone in this room that can identify with this definition of meek according to Jesus.

[01:03:33]Have any of you ever felt the pain of being overlooked or treated differently because you didn't have the same financial resources or opportunities as those around you?

[01:03:46]Have you ever experienced deep offense from someone's actions but felt powerless to speak up for yourself?

[01:03:55]Have you ever felt the pain of being outcast and overlooked because of a mistake or failure from your past and you feel that people continue to see you that way?

[01:04:07]These are the people that Jesus is inviting into the kingdom.

[01:04:12]And now why is this distinction so important? Why is it so important that we understand Jesus was not describing a personality but rather a type of person?

[01:04:26]It's because Jesus was announcing who was welcomed into the kingdom of God, not who we must become to earn our way into it. Are you guys hear what I'm saying? This is not a personality trait that Jesus is welcoming into the kingdom of God. These are a type of people who have been overlooked and afflicted.

[01:04:49]I remember um again in my junior high days, I guess some of my memories of this of this passage comes from my junior high days. But I remember when I there was a speaker preaching on the biatitudes and he was like, "You know why it's called the biatitudes? Because you need to be the attitude that Jesus is preaching about. You need to be pure.

[01:05:09]You need to be meek. You need to be righteous. And I remember as a young girl in junior high, I was like, "Lord, give me a pure heart. I don't want to have a crush on this boy. Cleanse my eyes." Or, you know, I would be praying these prayers like, "Lord, make me pure.

[01:05:24]Make me righteous. Make me into this type of person."

[01:05:29]And see the tension with this perception of the biatitudes is that it becomes about striving more than receiving.

[01:05:38]It becomes about us trying to become a type of person that Jesus would want to bless rather than someone that is receiving the gift of the kingdom in his grace. And see this is what Jesus is saying when he looks at the crowds. He's not saying hey I'm giving you a test right now. I'm giving you an entrance examination into the kingdom of God. I'm not asking you to have these nine qualities before you're invited in. He's saying, "No, you're invited right now as you are in your affliction, in your oppression, in in your overlookedness, in the place where you are, you are invited into the kingdom of God." And can you imagine those the crowds that are here? me a prostitute.

[01:06:21]Me the the sick, the one that's been tossed aside. Me the one that's poor that has nothing to give back to you as a king. I'm invited into the kingdom of God. And that is what Jesus is saying when he says, "The meek shall inherit the earth."

[01:06:39]And see, that's good news for some of us today because the invitation is for us as well. He's not waiting for us to get our lives together to invite us into his kingdom, into his household. He's not saying, "Hey, let me let me wait till you prove that you're worthy of the grace that I want to give you. Let me wait till you fail hard enough before I invite you in." He's saying, "I want to invite you in right now where you are, just as you are."

[01:07:09]And see what happens is when he invites us in, we don't just stay the way we are, but he's saying, "As you enter into my kingdom, you will have access to the promises as you live under my rule and reign as your king." And this brings me to my next point.

[01:07:26]What is Jesus saying when he says that the meek shall inherit the earth? He's saying, "You're invited in, and you're not just invited in. I'm giving you a promise.

[01:07:36]you're going to inherit the earth. And I don't know about you guys, but when I grew up hearing that verse, the meek shall inherit the earth, I don't know why, but I had this idea that one day the meek is going to enjoy riches. Like, we're going to enjoy riches in heaven.

[01:07:52]We're going to be walking on the golden streets. We're no longer going to be living the way we were. But it sounded like this long and faroff future.

[01:08:02]But see, I want to take us deeper into this passage in deeper into Matthew 5:5.

[01:08:09]When Jesus says, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth," he is quoting directly from Psalm 37.

[01:08:20]It's almost like if I were to say to you guys, our father in heaven, you guys would, if you grew up in church or you're familiar with Christianity, you would say, "Hallowed be thy name, right?

[01:08:30]Thy kingdom come.

[01:08:32]right? You would be familiar with it.

[01:08:35]And in the same way, when Jesus says, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." He is quoting from Psalm 37, a psalm that many the of the crowds would be familiar with because they have grown up reading the Septuagent. They have grown up hearing the teachings of their ancestors.

[01:08:54]And so this is a chapter, Psalm 37 is a chapter where God's people are seeing the wicked prosper through injustice as they exploit the poor through force and violence. And this psalm is considered a wisdom psalm. It's not a prayer. It's not a song, but it's a wisdom psalm because King David is exhorting and encouraging the people of God to remain faithful even when they see injustice prevailing.

[01:09:25]Even when they see the wicked getting ahead through injustice.

[01:09:29]And so I'm going to read to you guys Psalm 37. It says, "In just a while, the wicked will be no more.

[01:09:37]Though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. But the meek, the anavim, which is the root from the same root family of ani, shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

[01:09:54]And so when Jesus says the ani will inherit the earth, he is pointing to the day when God will restore everything that sin and injustice have broken.

[01:10:07]See, the story of the Bible doesn't end with God's people, us escaping the earth. It ends with God making all things new.

[01:10:17]A world where Jesus I was going to yell. I was going to start shouting louder. Um, he is announcing when my kingdom comes in its fullness, you will no longer be without land and voiceless or dispossessed.

[01:10:41]You will receive God's renewed earth as your inheritance.

[01:10:47]You know, when I think about the meek inheriting the earth, I think about my time on the mission field. I grew up as a missionary kid, and I remember when I graduated from college, um, some of you guys are there. I didn't have a job. I was trying to figure out what to do. I was at home feeling that transition. And I remember uh my dad was like, "Hey, you have nothing to do right now. You don't have a job. What are you doing? Why don't you come with me and visit Santelmo in Mexico? And this community is a community that we've been going to for 20 years. So, I've grown up as a child going to this community. It's just um about eight hours south from the border. And growing up, I would go to this community with my dad. And this community is a farming community where a lot of corporations from America would bring workers from the south to work in labor camps. There's no running water.

[01:11:44]There's dirt roads.

[01:11:46]Um there's a lot of poverty in this community. There's a lot of domestic violence, a lot of drugs and gang violence because the physical labor of working in the fields leads to a life of trying to numb the pain that they're going through.

[01:12:02]And so I remember I went in the summer with my dad after college and the kids were not in school and I saw the dirt roads that I'm so familiar with. And I actually have some pictures of the community um behind me. This is uh it's kind of faint because I only had printouts. So, this is not a filter, guys. This is real, like a real picture that I took a picture of. But this is the community that we would go to. No running water, dirt roads. It's actually very beautiful. Next picture. This is how a typical home would look like.

[01:12:36]There would be laundry in the front.

[01:12:38]Their homes were made of four walls.

[01:12:42]And so I remember I went to this community after college and the summer so the kids were not in school and oftentimes the kids would go to the fields to work with their parents but they were kids that were too young to go so they would just be roaming the streets. And I remember my heart just fell in love with the kids. And so for seven years, I actually took some of my friends and later a team of missionaries to spend an entire month every summer in that community. And what we would do is we would gather the kids from the streets. Um later we had to ask for their parents' permission. Their parents were like, "Where did they go?" And they would find them in the church and we're preaching the gospel to them. We're worshiping with them. We're playing soccer with them. We're cooking meals with them.

[01:13:28]And I remember this is one of the most visceral experiences I've ever had of the meek inheriting the earth and God's kingdom here on earth. Because these kids when we would first start inviting the them, they would say, "I don't want to go. I smell bad. You guys don't want me near you." Or they would point to their clothes and say like, "I don't want you guys to see me this way."

[01:13:49]And so we would have one kid come out, two kids come out, sometimes three kids come out, but we would keep inviting them and we would keep worshiping with them. We would keep playing with them.

[01:14:00]And over the month, you can see what the love of God does to these children because what would happen is they would start showing up feeling I'm important.

[01:14:09]They would dress differently. They would start combing their hair and showing up a little bit more proud of themselves.

[01:14:16]Some of them we would ask them, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" up in the beginning of the month, they would say, "No, I'm bora. Doesn't matter.

[01:14:23]Don't ask me."

[01:14:25]And at the towards the end of the month, they would start saying, "Oh, I I hope I could be a teacher when I grow up." Or, "I hope I could see this community change." They would start bringing their families to worship with us. And we would literally see households being saved. We would literally see these kids walking in a different level of confidence and authority. And that's what it means when it says the meek will inherit the earth because in the midst of their loneliness of not feeling worthy, God's kingdom restores dignity.

[01:14:54]It restores identity. It restores a sense of hope and purpose and plan. And that's why Jesus says the kingdom belongs to children like these because these kids and re real experience I've experienced of the kingdom on earth.

[01:15:17]And so can you guys imagine the faces of the crowds that Jesus is preaching to?

[01:15:25]The faces of the crowds that Jesus is preaching to. the sick, the outcasts, the the same people that were probably thinking, "No, doesn't matter. Jesus, why are you even preaching to me about inheritance? Why are you preaching to me about what you're promising me? It doesn't matter."

[01:15:42]And so they were they were probably wondering, "Hello."

[01:15:48]They were probably wondering, "How could people like us inherit anything?"

[01:15:55]They were facing injustice.

[01:15:59]They had economic hardship.

[01:16:01]They had little status or inability to secure their future. They were afflicted and overlooked. And they were thinking, "Jesus, how could people like us inherit anything?

[01:16:16]Do you see our circumstances?

[01:16:19]Do you see what we're going through?"

[01:16:22]And I wonder if some of us feel the same way today.

[01:16:26]I wonder if some of us think that God's promises are out of reach because of where we are in life.

[01:16:34]What does it mean for some of us who are waiting for reconciliation?

[01:16:38]What does it mean for some of us who are feeling overlooked because of our financial circumstances, no matter how hard we've worked?

[01:16:47]What does it feel like for some of us who are feeling powerless and pressed into a corner because of the doctor's report or the doctor's diagnosis?

[01:16:59]What does it feel like us who are feeling outcast because of our past mistakes and failures? And maybe you look overlooked by people around you, but maybe even by God.

[01:17:11]Maybe you're wondering, "Does he see me?

[01:17:14]Does he see my affliction? Does he see where I am right now? Does he see how pressed I am in life?

[01:17:25]And so the question as I land this plane is, how are we supposed to respond to God's promises? How were the Jews and the people of God supposed to respond to Jesus when he said that they will inherit the earth?

[01:17:45]How were they supposed to respond?

[01:17:47]Because their circumstances were the same.

[01:17:51]Nothing was changing.

[01:17:54]And so the question is, how does Jesus's promise of the meek inheriting the earth shape their lives and our lives today?

[01:18:02]For some of us that feel overlooked in our circumstances.

[01:18:06]For some of us that are feeling disregarded or powerless or or grieving, we're not where we were. You're feeling that people are looking down on you because you're not where you thought you would be in life.

[01:18:19]And see, the answer is found in Psalm 37.

[01:18:23]Again, the passage that Jesus is quoting from in this passage, the oni or the overlooked watch as the wicked prosper through injustice.

[01:18:36]And this psalm shows us two ways that this promise shapes the lives of the meek or those of us that are feeling overlooked.

[01:18:47]Those of us that might be wondering if we should continue to be faithful at work even when you see dishonest people getting ahead or those of us that feel that we we shouldn't forgive. We have to take matters into our own hands because of an offense that has severely wronged us.

[01:19:07]See the first is this. The meek trust God.

[01:19:12]In Psalm 37:es 3:5, it says, "Trust in the Lord and do good. Dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.

[01:19:23]Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

[01:19:28]Commit your way to the Lord and trust in him and he will act."

[01:19:35]And see again, Psalm 37 is speaking to God's people. This is God's people who were promised a future and they're seeing the wicked progressing. They're seeing the wicked winning. They're seeing those that are using manipulation, force, and injustice prevailing.

[01:19:52]And the danger is not that they would only envy them like gosh, why are they prospering and not me? Why are they getting ahead and not me? The temptation is that they would also start mimicking them or imitating them.

[01:20:09]That might be some of us today. I'm tired of not speaking my truth.

[01:20:14]I'm tired of trusting that God's going to open this door. I've waited.

[01:20:19]I'm tired of trying to make this person understand. I'm just going to cut them out of my life.

[01:20:27]But see, when we look at these verses, we can see that trusting in God shapes how we act. Did you guys notice these are active verbs? Trust in the Lord. Do good. Dwell in the land. Befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord. Commit your ways to him. You know what he's saying? He's saying, "Don't stop being faithful.

[01:20:50]Don't stop trusting in me. Don't stop acting in integrity and faithfulness right where you are." Because there is going to come a time where I will act on your behalf. I will give you the desires of your heart. I will give you the things that you are hoping for.

[01:21:07]And so when we look at these verses, we encourage us that we can trust in God.

[01:21:21]You can continue to work in your workplace with integrity even when dishonest people seem to get ahead. You can speak truth about how you were mistreated without retaliating or trying to destroy someone else's reputation.

[01:21:37]You can continue to show up with patience and honesty and faithfulness in your marriage, in your relationships, even when you feel like it goes unnoticed.

[01:21:50]The second is the meek wait on God.

[01:21:56]It says, "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.

[01:22:01]Fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices. Refrain from anger and forsake wrath. Fret not yourself. It tends only to evil.

[01:22:15]For the evildoers shall be cut off.

[01:22:19]But those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. Do you guys hear what I'm saying here?

[01:22:28]Can you believe that scripture says that? It says, "Wait and be patient.

[01:22:31]Refrain from anger.

[01:22:34]Fret not. Don't worry. A time is coming when you will inherit. You will inherit the promises of God." He's saying, "Be still. Be still. Be still. Wait patiently. Wait patiently. Wait patiently."

[01:22:52]See, the crowds that Jesus was speaking to have been waiting.

[01:22:56]They've been waiting for a long time.

[01:22:59]And maybe you find yourself waiting.

[01:23:02]Maybe you've been feeling over.

[01:23:12]And see, waiting is one of the hardest places to be at.

[01:23:22]Waiting is one of the hardest places to be at because it's the space between what God has promised and when God fulfills it. I'm going to say that again.

[01:23:38]Seasons of waiting is one of the hardest places to be at because it is the space between what God has promised and when he fulfills it.

[01:23:53]Where it when we're in that space of waiting, we grasp.

[01:23:59]We try to grasp for control. We try to force doors to be opened. We try to manipulate situations and how people see us. We retaliate and try to take matters into our own hands against people who have hurt us.

[01:24:15]But see, waiting shapes what we surrender. The meek can wait because we can surrender. We surrender our timing, our need to control the outcome, and our desire to take matters into our own hands.

[01:24:32]Did you guys notice that when it says the meek will inherit the earth, that word inherit means that we will receive the promises of God? You don't need to prove that you are worthy of what he has promised you. You don't need to prove to him that you're going to earn his grace and his goodness and his faithfulness in your life. You will receive it.

[01:24:55]An inheritance is not seized. It is received. And the unjust grasp for what they want. That's the contrast in this scripture. But the meek trust God to give them what he has promised.

[01:25:09]And see, waiting doesn't mean that you ignore the pain that you're going through.

[01:25:15]It doesn't mean that you ignore the injustice that you've gone through. It doesn't even mean that you stop acting.

[01:25:22]It doesn't mean that you stop doing.

[01:25:27]It means that you can live with open hands knowing that our lives are in the hands of God. And so you might not see justice yet, but you belong to the God of justice. You may not see restoration yet, but you belong to the God who's going to make all things new in his time.

[01:25:49]and see. So, some of us that are waiting, I want to encourage you. Trust God and wait with open hands. Amen.

[01:26:05]What areas in your life do you need to release back into the hands of God?

[01:26:14]What areas in your life have you stopped trusting on God or waiting on God? What situations or relationships or opportunities or doors have you been grasping for control over?

[01:26:28]What result are you striving and trying to achieve in your life?

[01:26:33]And I want to ask you today, what would it look like if you just opened your hands before God and said, "God, I'm going to trust you.

[01:26:43]I'm going to wait for you."

[01:26:46]Just as when you preach to the crowds who are hurting and overlooked and afflicted, you ask them to wait to be meek because one day they will inherit your promises. I'm going to wait and inherit your promises one day.

That's why I trust him. I sought the Lord and he heard and he answered. I sought the Lord and he heard and he answered. I sought the Lord and he heard and he answered. That's why I trust him. That's why I trust him. I sought the Lord and he heard then he answered. I sought the Lord. Then he heard and he answered. I sought the Lord. Then he heard and he answered.

[01:31:08]That's why I trust him. That's why I trust in God.

[01:31:15]My savior.

[01:31:17]The one who will never fail.

[01:31:27]He will never fail.

[01:31:52]I sought the Lord and he heard, then he answered. I sought the Lord and he heard that he answered. I sought the Lord and he heard that he answered. That's why I trust him. That's why I trust him. I sought the Lord and he heard that he answered. I sought the Lord and he heard and he answered. I sought the Lord and he heard then he answered.

[01:32:26]That's why I trust him. That's why I trust in God.

[01:32:37]Oh.

[01:32:40]Oh. I trust in you, Lord.

[01:32:44]He will never fail.

[01:32:51]Yes, Lord.

[01:32:54]I just want to encourage some people in this room that are in a season of waiting and have been tempted to not trust God.

[01:33:04]I want to encourage you. You're right where you're supposed to be. Waiting upon God is not a Hello. Okay. Waiting on God is an active movement towards God's plans and purposes for your life. So I want to encourage you guys stay in the place of waiting. Stay in the place of trusting in God.

[01:33:38]He will fulfill all that he has promised in our lives in his time in his way. We can trust in his character. Amen.
