It's about knowing exactly what to post to attract people to your account. There are so many topics and subtopics in fitness and once you've been working out for a while, you lose touch with what is relevant to your target audience. You make content on what you think is relevant to you, not what is relevant to your audience. This is the first and often the biggest mistake of new content creators. They create for themselves and not their audience. The audio was crisp, transitions on point, and text already preloaded. It was like having viral content stencils, and all I had to do was color inside the lines.

[00:22:44]This is a really useful way just to put all your clips into different folders.

[00:22:48]If you have a specific running route or you know there's lots of shots of you jumping in the ocean or training in a specific gym, just an easy way to label them and at least break you down in some basic categories so you're not waiting through tens of thousands of photos. So once you've got them into useful folders, you can then basically go in, select from a folder and put together some videos. Here's a bit of an example.

[00:23:11]I just took some running content to show you what it looks like stitching together multiple pieces of content. So, you select whatever you want. You can do a multi select. Really useful if you're pulling a lot of content at the same time. It will then chuck it into Cap Cut. Note, whatever order you selected, it means that that is the order that it will arrive into your Cap Cut editing.

[00:23:31]This is all on your phone, by the way.

[00:23:33]There is a Cap Cut native app to desktop. Um, I film and shoot everything on my phone, so all the content's already there. So, I edit on my phone as well. Once you're there, you can scroll through and you can look through the different clips. You then have the ability to split down the bottom left.

[00:23:49]Split is a really useful tool. It essentially obviously splits a clip into two different portions. That means you can keep both of them or you could delete one of them. Then what you want to be doing is taking the best part, whatever section that is, you can bring the clip inward by dragging that little tab. It's like a sticky tab. Um, it will go to where you are paused or you can sync it up to beats, which I will show you shortly. You then basically can go through all of your clips and take the best part that you want. Once you have your clips and they are ready to go, you may find that you want to reorder them.

[00:24:25]Simply hold down on it and it creates panels. You can then drag across and it will reorder the clips. Once you have them in the right order, you can tap on the bottom left and you can hit audio sounds and then you can import from your library. Just a bit of a heads up.

[00:24:42]Importing audio. There is integrated audio on there, but they have a pretty limited range. The way that I take viral audio is that I screen record the video from Instagram. That then saves the sound on a video on my phone. I then put all of my screen recordings into a folder called audio. And you can do that because the iPhone allows you to access all of your screen recordings. Go into audio and then I have all the viral content that's in there. It's a little bit of a hacky way of getting around it, but it's really hard to put and find viral audio that's already on the Cap Cut app. You can then import and what it basically imports it as as just an audio file. So you can see all of these little uh frequencies which basically shows the sound waves of the audio. You can then do this super useful thing that I didn't find out until a lot later on. I wish someone had told me which is beats.

[00:25:38]Beats put these yellow little markers where the beats of the audio are. This is how I sync all of my clips to ensure that the frame is changing as the beat changes as well. This setting creates a sticky dot and you can drag your audio files to make sure that it's changing every time it hits the beat. You can then also cut your audio to ensure that it's at the right length. Next, we have our key framing. Now, what key framing does is it just creates a more dynamic shot. It's really useful as a post editing, particularly if you've used a tripod. It can be very boring just being in the same place the whole time. Key framing allows you to zoom into certain things and then zoom back out. Key framing is a super useful tool. I highly recommend you use it, particularly if you have a shot where you're in the middle and you're doing some sort of dynamic move. It just creates a lot of engagement and allows the audience to track the most important visual part of your video. The way that you do it is up next to the undo button, there is a little plus and a triangle and a diamond. What you do is you add a little sticky diamond at the start and then you zoom in and you can add one at the end.

[00:26:52]What this is saying is that at the start you want it to start at this frame and at the end you want it to zoom into this frame. You can also add them in the middle of your video um to create a more of a dynamic in and out. It takes a little bit of playing around with, but you get pretty quick at it once you've done it for a few videos. You can see here it adds this nice zoom in effect.

[00:27:12]It makes a little bit more engaging to watch.

[00:27:16]Next, you have your text. Now, text you can add in. Super simple. Write the text that you want. There are so many different fonts. There's so many different styles. You can move it around, add it, make it bigger, make it smaller. There's so many ways to play with it. You've got text in there.

[00:27:33]You've got colors and you also have animations. What animations allow you to do is things like the typewriter text where it comes in or it zooms out, can dissolve in, can fade out, fade in. So many different things to play with there. You can also shorten the text.

[00:27:51]You you treat it like an audio file or like a visual file where same princip principle applied. You can split it, you can drag it, you can cut it. You can then also turn text into voiceovers. The voiceovers on Cap Cut are okay. I'd probably use another platform if you want to do voiceovers. I can add the platform that I use with a link below.

[00:28:13]Now, we're talking about audio. Now, audio u obviously you have your sound audio if you've screen recorded some viral audio from Instagram. Another way that you can do it is you can add a voice over. You can add voiceovers directly into Cap Cut, which is an awesome function. Simply click sound voice over and it will bring up a recording dashboard. Hit start. You'll have 3 seconds and then you can speak.

[00:28:37]Don't worry if you don't get it in the first state. You can clip up your different audio. You can split it. You can make it smaller. You can speed it up or slow it down. There's loads of functionality there to ensure that you are speaking at the right pace and that you're speaking and voice over matches the clips that you have on screen. I've just given a short example here where I've said the text that is on screen.

[00:28:58]Now, if you wanted to do this the other way around, which I would recommend where you do your voice over first and then you go, "Ah, this would be more engaging if I had some captions with it, a great thing you can do is you can delete, obviously, I'll delete the text that's on screen now." And click auto captions. What auto captions do is it allow you to pull either from the video or the voice over or a combination of both. So for this example, I'm going to use the voice over and I'm going to generate some automatic captions that then basically listens to everything I say in the voice over and puts these captions on screen. They often have some animation in there as well where it will highlight the word that's being said as it's being produced. This is a super useful tool. It saves so much time and you basically got text that is synced with your audio. There you go. That was a quick crash course. I know that's a lot of information. And there are some more comprehensive guides here on YouTube from some other creators that spend a lot more time on Cap than I do.

[00:29:56]That is the very basics. I think if you can master those four elements, you are going to be ahead of a lot of people.

[00:30:03]Again, this is a skill that is refined over time. It is incredibly frustrating at the beginning because you are a beginner. I recommend you go through, you refine these, you have a few plays at it, and then you'll start to see viral content and go, "Ah, I know exactly how they created that." Patience is key. I think editing content takes patience. Uh, it's really hardest at the start because you're slow, inefficient at editing, but also, you don't have a bank of clips built up yet. So, I have obviously thousands and thousands of videos now, so I can always go back in the bank and I'm not filming new clips every time I want to show an exercise.

[00:30:38]can simply go back in the vault and pull one out. So, don't feel discouraged. It does get easier. You also get a hell of a lot better. My biggest tips would be order your content into folders. This is something you should do at the start.

[00:30:51]It's a very useful thing to do on your phone. Cap cut allows you to pull directly from albums. So, I would segment clips into things like running, lifting, sunrise, food, however you want to do it. But the more detailed you can get those folders, the easier it will be to pull specific clips. I would also go with the plan. Make sure that you film for the edit that you want to make. So know what the end product is and then reverse engineer everything you need to get there. Lastly, I would reuse your clips that perform well. This is something that I have done a lot of.

[00:31:21]Obviously, there is an upper limit until your audience get a little bit bored of the same clips, but there's always going to be some clips where you're looking incredibly, I don't know, vascular, shredded, or looking at your PC. Don't be scared to reuse them. Your audiences are mine and it's a visual to complement the value that you're delivering.
