Vague legislation that criminalizes speech based on imprecise terminology can fundamentally undermine freedom of speech by punishing individuals for describing groups or movements using alternative terminology, such as referring to 'resistance groups' instead of 'terrorist groups,' thereby silencing political discourse and historical analysis.

The law is so vague that it basically punishes people for describing our banned groups...Ajouté :
Should we get on to talking about this law, the Yan law? Is it in France, your part of the world?
>> It's been in the pipeline for some time, but it's really coming to an end. It's coming to a close and France is considering a fasttrack bill which we call the Yeden Yeden law because of the lady that brought it forward. Her name is Yeden. And this law would expand criminal penalties for certain kinds of speech linked to whatever terrorism, crime against humanity and threat against states. So the most controversial part is a very new offense implicit provocation to terrorism which critics like myself say it's pretty vague and the law is so vague that it basically punishes people for describing or bang groups like you know terrorists what people have been described as terrorist group and to describe them as resistance group. So, let's say I'm writing an article and I'm going to say, well, Hamas, the resistance group, you know, the axis of resistance, that could get me in jail. That can get me 5 years in jail. That can get me literally €75,000 fines just because I'm >> just from a choice of words. Just from a choice of words, >> a choice of word. Because this is really what is going, you know, you can't even discuss their action in a political or historical context, right? Which mean that anybody that would say for example, oh, you know, Netany is a fascist, you know, it's like the Nazi. That's it.
You're done.
You know, that's freedom of speech is gone. You know, if you're calling a Hamas or Hezbollah resistance movement, you're good for. If you're explaining the historical or political cause of violence, you're done for. If you're arguing that Palestinians have a right to resist occupation under international law, you're done for. Why? Because you are promoting the extension of the other states. So the idea of promoting a one-state solution in Israel, that's something you cannot do with this law.
