Dimash sings Phantom (Budapest Reaction)

[00:00:12][music] It really is terribly exciting for me because it  is kind of the first really major biography of Dimash and I'm very proud to be the person who has  written that. It's William here, the Bangkok Voice  Coach and I have had this amazing video sent to  me this morning all the way from Budapest.

[00:00:31]Jeanne and Karen have sent me a fan-cam of Dimash  singing The Phantom of the Opera. This is one of my favorite parts of that incredible musical by  Andrew Lloyd Weber. I love this duet so much.

[00:00:48]I know it really well, actually, because I used to sing  it a lot So I I know every note of this  -- every word. Let's start -- with the soprano of course Dimash is in a tuxedo, looking song handsome.

[00:01:25]This is in D minor, the original key, but it  switches to G minor.

[00:03:34]This is very easy for Dimash!

[00:04:08]Oh, that is absolutely brilliant. So they did it  exactly as written there by Andrew Lloyd Weber.

[00:04:18]All the keys were the same, but Dimash shared  the lines there at the end with the soprano.

[00:04:23]They alternated the high notes. And so, as you can probably tell,  he sang a B flat 5, then he went to the C6, but she finished on the E6. Which he could have  done, too. Of course, he looks terrific.

[00:04:34]I am glad he didn't wear the phantom mask, because I think that's been done so much, hasn't it? He is, of course, the most perfect  Phantom that you could ever get probably anywhere on the planet. But it's not something he's  going to do, is it? He's not going to sing Phantom the Opera in the musical. If he wanted to,  he could tour doing it for the rest of his life, but he has other things to do, hasn't he?! It was a  magnificent performance of a fabulous duet and a great choice because it is classical crossover and  it suits him so perfectly.
