Formula 1 circuits have unique characteristics that influence team strategies and car performance, such as Montreal's low-abrasion surface with minimal high-loaded corners, which creates challenges for front tire temperature management and requires teams to focus on rear traction and thermal tire degradation rather than mechanical wear.

🔴 F1 Watchalong - CANADIAN GP - FP1 - with Commentary & Live TimingsAjouté :
Hello everybody. We're back.
>> We're back.
Hello. Hello. Yes, we are live. There's always that delay where I then get the messages start to come through and I'm like, am I live? Am I not live?
We're good afternoon everyone. How are you? How are you? My day has gone very well. It's a nice three-day weekend here in the UK cuz we have what is called a bank holiday. So, we get the Monday off uh which is lovely and it's supposed to be very nice weather this weekend. So, thoroughly looking forward to it. It's lovely here in the UK right now. It's 26/28 degrees depending where you are uh here in the UK. It's for where I am is around that anyway. So lovely, absolutely lovely Friday. And let's hope that the F1 that we've waited a long time for, yes, another 3we break, we're just getting over now. Hopefully that is going to provide some entertainment for us this weekend. So uh then before we know it, we're heading into a lot of races and it's been a long time, hasn't it? No more three slash5week breaks to to look forward to until we get to a summer break, which is not until August.
So, at least we've got a good few months now of consistent racing ahead of us.
And we have a sprint weekend ahead of us here this week. So, uh yeah, for the first time ever, Montreal, Canada is holding a sprint race uh in a shakeup of the sprint race calendar, and I'm intrigued to see how it's going to play.
Just going to see how it plays out. No idea why my channel didn't pop up. Any idea? Well, in relation to notifications, uh I wouldn't know that either. It did seem like there was a little bit of a delay with me uh clicking the button and going live. So, uh maybe that was the reason why. Uh but yeah, if you should have that bell notification on, you should get a notification like half an hour before I go live. So, just double check your your notifications. But good afternoon everyone. Good to see you, TC. Good to see you, Lee. Uh, do we have any Canadian drivers we can cheer? There's one.
There's one.
L Strong. Lstrom is the only Canadian driver on the grid. So, you can cheer him.
You got a notification. Yeah, sometimes it's I don't think YouTube's notification system works well enough to be honest. Some I've had like the MS has got notifications on for me and she will get notifications sometimes hours after I've posted a video or like gone live.
So, it's not always great.
She Okay, she's sitting in her pram.
H toy pram. Yeah. No, not the actual pram. Toy pram.
Fair enough. Uh what are the teams that have updated packages? Well, I've got something ready for you. Should we have a look at at least the top teams? I don't know about the other teams but I do have the documentation but details out of the top four teams i.e. Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari what they have brought here this weekend. Let's have a look at those before uh the practice sessions start.
So here we are. Here we are. These are the documentations that uh their FIA push put out every single weekend in relation to uh updates. And as it was told um by Mercedes back in Miami, they were bringing a big update package here for uh for Canada. And that is what we've got. Eight new components on the car and they are all aerero specific uh as you can see. So it says the updated components. the primary reason for the update, the geometric differences compared to the previous version, and then a brief description on how the update works, which is very informative for us. So, uh, they've got a brand new front wing by the looks of it. The front wing outboard elements dropped in height and run into the foot plate. Uh, they have a new front wing end plate. Uh, so the front wing end plate and foot plate adjusted to accommodate the above. So, they work obviously in tandem with one another. And the reason for their new frontwing end plate is um to result in more robust flow structures, improving flow to the rear of the car and gaining downforce. So more performance through the corners for them. Of course, Canada here this weekend. How efficient will it be for them? Uh we will see. Of course, not many high loaded corn hard are any really high loaded corners here. It's all hard braking zones with uh like primary chicanees. So it's more so about the rear traction and the rear stability of that car. um on throttle than it is through midc corner, you know, mid corner or exit exit on the corner. Um so front corner um says here performance flow conditions, everything's a related uh front cake tin upper lip camber reduced and increase inlet and exit size. So I presume that is uh the front the right corner. So the front side of the side pod probably um up the front of the car just behind the rear wing um and the tires front wing and the tires. Uh so uh the fl the right reduced upper lip cabber improves flow structure robustness throughout the operated envelope improving the onset flow to the rear wing and then the uh other the cooling range uh is due to high braking demands in Montreal increasing the duct inlet and exit size increases mass flow feeding the discs resulting in more cooling of course yes um a lot of while it's not necessarily the actual temperatures themselves like the air temperatures are an issue for uh drivers at Montreal, teams at Montreal. It's always the brakes. The breaks take a lot of hurt here. We've seen famously, I think it was Nikico Rosberg have those I think it was Daniel Ricardo's first ever win for Red Bull was here at Montreal and that was because he was able to benefit from Nico Rosberg having to manage his brakes. Uh so really definitely calling is going to be important. So they've addressed that.
And then the floorboard. So they've got reprofile elements to the floorboard. Uh it says here to improve local pressure distribution and reduce separations at the extremes of the operating envelope resulting in increased local load.
Yeah. Uh basically just all to increase performance. Uh they've got flow floor corner additional slots. Uh they've done the floor body. So a lot has happened to the floor. Rep-profile diffuser roof. Um and uh that's interesting to and generate more local. All of that is is for the same reasons. And then the rear corner, rear winglet span and position redistribution.
So, lots of lots of um additions there for Mercedes. Of course, the power unit, they have the fastest power unit, so they can't do anything in relation to that. But that's a lot of updates for Mercedes. However, they're not the only team. Well, that's Red Bull. Let's have a look at Red Bull first and then we'll go to McLaren and Ferrari. Uh Red Bull have got four updates. They've got the front wing or a a revised front wing.
They've got a revised brake duct exit geometry. So similar to uh what um Montreal requires which we just spoke about for Mercedes to try and obviously uh direct more air flow through the C uh through the car so that they can cool it more sufficiently here at Montreal. Um the floor a bip edge trim and revised forward floor devices.
So uh a slight adjustment to the floor there and the engine cover has also been um changed due to cooling exit panel option.
So to give more cooling to the um the tight tightly packed Red Bull engine that they have there.
Uh have you missed any other team changes or is it all Mercedes? No, no, it's not not just all Mercedes. Uh there are other updates I think up and down the grid, but we're only just covering the top four cuz that's all I've seen.
So we've covered just Mercedes who have eight brand new parts. A lot of it to the floor as well. Um and then we have Red Bull who have only four parts.
Ferrari have nothing, by the way.
>> Ferrari have no updates here this weekend. Make of that what you will. But McLaren have seven brand new updates, which is interesting. And one of them is on the halo. So, there's a new front wing, but they have they have a new engine cover, some new body work um to improve aerodynamic flow conditioning towards the rear of the car, as well as some cooling exits. Um they have cooling louvers. So, yeah, to help with the cooling and management of the temperatures in the engine, the halo.
Now, they've got a halo winglet, a new winglet on top of the halo, aiming at improved management of aerodynamic flow around the cockpit and central engine cover. That's interesting. Maybe I haven't seen any images of it yet, but I wonder if that's similar to the the winglet that Ferrari had on the car, but it says on top of the halo. So whether that's sim different to what Ferraris was, which was more at the central pillar lower end, that that's quite interesting. Uh, and then they've got rear wing end plate change. Rear sus interesting rear suspension. Revised rear suspension fairings. Small modifications to the rear suspension fairings aimed at improving aerodynamic flow, conditioning, and load generation around the rear corner and diffuser.
That's interesting. That's that's quite even this is a small modification, I think that's actually a lot more anything to do with the suspension is always more substantial than they kind of let on. So that's that's an intriguing uh update that they've brought here. And then they've revised floor edges as well. Iteration on the floor edge devices aimed at improved overall floor conditioning and aerodynamic load generation on the floor and diffuser. So some interesting updates there and and interesting from I mean Lando is just playing down the he was very much so playing down the the impact of these updates.
Um so we'll see whether to we believe him or not. I think it's likely that he's going to play those always play those down and um act like they're not going to have that big of an impact. But I think that's uh definitely good news if you're McLaren fans that they've brought that. And as I said in my preview uh stream yesterday, if you missed it, McLaren coming in with this many updates, if they can match the performance of Mercedes here this weekend at a track which we expect Mercedes to be strong at, I think that sets up very well for the works. Um, sorry, very well for the works, very well for the rest of the season. So it shows that actually McLaren have figured out their car sooner rather than later.
Um, and they can push Mercedes potentially. uh more than what we was initially expecting. Is Red Bull still overweight? That I don't know. I They will gradually, of course, reduce the weight of that car, as will all teams.
Williams is another team that's considerably overweight. Um so I I think teams are going to struggle to shed it as quickly as they um at this part early part of the season. But they will eventually, but I don't know. Oh, TX, thank you for becoming a member by the way, buddy. We remember for 10 months now you renewed.
Oh, welcome back. But welcome everyone.
Hope you are well. Hope you are ready for uh what is going to be uh an interesting weekend here. We have some intermittent weather on the way. Not for this evening. Uh of course we have a sprint qualifying session this evening uh with a sprint race tomorrow. Saturday looks dry as it does today, but Sunday there is definitely lots of rain in the vicinity. So that could we we thought we were going to get it in Miami. We never did thankfully and we were provided with a great race. We could see our first wet race of the season.
Uh what time is sprint quality? Sprint qual is at half 9 this evening I think it is UK time. Uh so just looking at now so that will be yes it is at half 9 UK time. So you're talking you're talking 4 hours from now basically. I will be live uh half uh half an hour before the session goes live. So, I'll be live in Yeah, 4 hours pretty much.
Who will challenge Mercedes?
Well, it's going to be interested to see I'm interested to see Red Bull. We were removed from seeing how much performance that Red Bull had in race trim really because Max had to recover that race and he was on a completely different strategy and completely different uh setup. Oh yeah, the track map is wrong.
Let's go a trap map. Why has that not sorted itself out yet?
No, there is a trap map.
Is it? No.
It is the right track. It just looks odd, doesn't it?
Yeah. Have they added a full zone then?
This little section here has now been added by the looks of it.
So, there's definitely Yeah, from the track map that we looked at yesterday, let me check the F1 website. definitely the F1 website that we checked yesterday.
So maybe that's something that they've of course they're entitled to add straight mode zones and so forth whether they see fit. Not it's going to make too much of a difference I think but um yeah they they've clearly added a straight mode zone to where is it? Hang on.
Yeah, they've added a straight mode zone. So, they've added one here between turn nine and turn 10 looking at the track map from yesterday.
So, I mean, it's not too big of a deal.
Uh, but they've definitely added one.
Why were the drivers driving for Cadillac?
Yeah, clearly they haven't. Once they get out there, the timing tower will sort itself out and we should have plenty of color on the track. Or maybe it's just the data. Again, we have had issues unfortunately with F1 and the data output uh throughout this season.
So hopefully we don't get that here. Uh I don't think we had any last time around when we was in Canada, but nice simple setup. Uh who do I think will win the sprint? So, we did my predictions yesterday and if I remember correctly, I think McLaren are going to have a strong weekend and I'm back in McLaren to have the advantage over Mercedes on in the shorter format. So, Mercedes start procedures aren't they're not going to be fixed anytime soon. They're something that they have to contend with for the for the whole season. if the information that I've heard is correct.
Um it's something to do with the way that their gearbox is is set up and they're they're stuck with it basically.
So the only thing that they can do is try and mitigate how slow they are off the line and and it seems to be George is a bit is better with his race starts than Kimmy, but they're still slow in comparison to McLaren Ferrari.
And McLaren we've seen have very good race starts. So even if they don't qualify on pole, if they're on the second row, even with the short run down to turn one here, I would expect at least one of those McLarens in the form of Norris Pastry to get into turn one first. And I think that the McLarens over the shorter format will finish one and two again. At least a double podium.
And I think one of them will win. I said Norris. I said Norris and Pastri first and second. And I think I said third George because I think this will be a strong circuit for him. And when it comes to the race though, I did switch it up. Uh I said George to win for the main race on Sunday. I said Lando second and then third. I went a bit rogue and said Max for Stappen because I don't know. I just still I still think there's a bit of pace in that car. Um, Ferrari is an unknown, I think, coming into this weekend, especially bringing no updates and them not having the greatest car at Miami. And then, and then you've got, of course, who knows obviously what Kim is going to be able to do. Will he be able to do four in a row? I'm not quite confident about that.
Uh, but it's it's an interesting circuit because it's a high energy recovery circuit. Lots of hard breaking zones here, of course. Um, and with the weather coming into play on Sunday, who knows? So, uh, this track could play into Ferrari strengths a bit more. Um, it could play into Red Bull strengths a bit more because there's less there. I I suspect there will be very minimal super clipping. Maybe we'll just see some down the back straight into turn 13, which is the Wall of Champions there, where where the Wall of Champions is there at turn 14. Uh, so yeah, I think this track is I think this track is in a good sweet spot for these regulations.
Uh, it was quite a bit of a break. Could Red Rebel improve their casting significantly? Well, they've brought updates. It depends on how impactful those updates are. And well, they brought updates to Miami as well, and it definitely worked because Max nearly qualified on pole. And I was, yeah, it's a shame that we didn't get to see the true performance of that Red Bull because Max was then completely out of sync with everyone else because he was on a different strategy trying to recover his race. And he did still did well to hold off like Charles and George for as long as he did, but it wasn't it would have been interesting to see did he does that Red Bull cuz it supposedly doesn't have that bad of an engine.
Would he have been able to have stayed with Kimmy and uh Lando Norris? Where would he have slotted into the pecking order?
Uh, I suspect you are going to watch the final match day before tuning into the race on Sunday for the Premier League. I will be. Yes, last day of the season.
West Ham United, my team, one of two teams that can potentially still go down. We have it all to do. We have to win. It's a must-win game. But, of course, Tottenham Hotspur, they only need a draw. So yeah, we'll see. We will see. Is the chance of rain on Sunday 90%. It's very high. Yes, it's around that. 90 to 70%. It's 70 to 90% depending on what time of the day you look at. But yeah, it does seem to be pretty much guarant like nailed on, but it's going to rain Sunday. But of course things can change. The weather can change between now and then. We thought exactly the same for Miami and there was no rain at all. So that that can change.
Are we going to see a wet race this season or the FA will just intervene like Miami? So Miami was different. So Miami got postponed and pushed back for two reasons. One, yes, the level of rain that was going to come through.
>> Uh and uh the second one was because primarily due to lightning. So the there was forecast for thunderstorms and there was a big storm that came through earlier on in the day that thankfully didn't hang around and there is a local law in Florida uh sorry yeah Florida/Miami uh where if there is an outside public events uh especially sports event I think it just means public event uh if there within if there's lightning seen within an 8 mile vicinity of that event it has to be cancelled or postponed and everyone has to take shelter. Um, so due to I think I think that was set up because of something that happened potentially. I think it was NASCAR even uh of course RIP Carl Bush. Um, that's very sad news that came through yesterday. I'm not a NASCAR fan. I don't really watch the sport. Um, I heard of of course Carl Bush. Um, but really sad obviously too taken too young. Uh, but yeah, I think that's because that rule came into place for for NASCAR because of something that happened in NASCAR.
Is Tom a West Ham fan as well? I know he's an Essex boy. I know he originates from where I grew up as well. So, I hope we stay up. Of course, I hope we do. Especially if it means at the expense of Tottenham.
Hello, AJ. Yeah, very good. Thank you. I think the weather at Montreal is looking nice and clear. You can see their track temperature is 37.2 degrees, air temperature 15 degrees. Here in the UK, it's nice and sunny. Finally, it's 26 28° here in the UK last time I looked.
And yeah, it's looking like it's going to be a nice weekend for us. Happy days.
As an Arsenal fan, you've clocked out the Premier League season. All right.
All right. Some of us aren't in that luxurious position of winning the Premier League.
And City, yeah, you've just lost your uh your manager. So, what does the future hold for you? Hey, uh, Mike Muel, look, good to see you. I just finished work.
Looking forward to this weekend. Canada is one of your favorite tracks. It has a bit of everything. I think we are in for a good weekend. I really do. If Miami is anything to go by, and this track, we know it can provide racing for us. We saw it last year. We saw we've seen it throughout many a year at this circuit.
So, I think yeah, we've got some with it being a sprint race as well with teams only having this onehour practice session to dial in that setup and plot out their energy strategies and so forth, uh, deployment strategies, which I don't think is going to be too difficult here, uh, for them. It's a bit more of a straightforward track than Miami. It is a track that they've been coming to for many years. And of course, it's not that long either. It's around a 1 minute 15 second lap, I think. Uh, just over the 1 minute 10 mark. So, it's not it's not a a long circuit at all. Uh so but it's all about how the cars are under braking, how they'll be able to deploy that battery. Uh but there's lots of areas here for them to be able to recover that. So uh it's going to be interesting. We'll see the lower downfall setups here for the first time.
I primarily for the first time I think for this season. Uh so yeah, let's see how they all fare.
Do I plan on watching the Sidemen versus France match on Sunday? I didn't even know that was going on. I did tune into the charity match where they had not really my sort of content that I consume though.
I wonder why they did if I didn't do a 90-minute practice session like I did for Miami. So, the main reason I did a 90-minute practice session for Miami was because they made changes to how the engines were operating. So, that like they dialed back the the battery efficiency, didn't they? And uh the impact of of the battery unit and how much they could recover. So because of those changes to the reg side of things, they wanted to see they wanted to get sufficient data uh to ensure that those changes had the desired effect, which I think they did uh to a certain degree.
We we can go more. I think we can make the cars a bit slower and have less of the um of those like super clipping moments and and clipping. But yeah, that's why there was a 90-minute session. This time it's back to normality. So, hey Andy, good to see you, mate. I'm very well. Very well. So, session is about to get underway. The timer has counted down. And there we go.
Green lights. Away we go here at Montreal for the first session that we have had an F1 for 3 weeks. And we are back. Now, uh drivers, it seems do the data is showing that there's no colors out on the screen right now. So, you just have to see uh on the timing tower and out on the track map. So, you just have to obviously look at the initials.
I'm sure that will sort itself out. Uh but uh it is a green track. This the track itself will get quicker and quicker the more running that it has on this weekend cuz it's a track that is not really used throughout the throughout the year. Has very minimal racing on it. Uh so yeah, these cars will get the lap times will get quicker and quicker and qualifying later on is going to be really interesting with track evolution as well just like we saw at Miami.
But I very well everyone hope you are good. Welcome. Welcome. I don't watch ice hockey. No, it's not a big sport here um in in the UK. So it's not something I ever tune into. I know that there is a big quarterfinal um being held at this time, isn't there? Uh is it the the local team for for Montreal is playing in the quarterfinals of the Stanley Cup, I believe. So, uh, yeah, there's a lot of a buzz at the moment in, uh, the the city, uh, with those sporting events occurring at the same time. So, good to see. Uh, where are the colors? I don't know. I don't know. Seems to be a delay with the colors, so it is what it is. I'm sure it will sort itself out that we've we've had discrepancies with this before, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who's Also, what was that from Max? Max just went All should adjourn the outlap. Facts just bull.
Fair enough.
So yeah, I'm not the only one who's suffering with a lack of uh of colors on the screen right now. So that is that is an F1 data issue.
I do I watch any world uh championship BTCC? I don't watch too much of a motorsport to be honest guys. No, I don't. Uh I'll tune into it every now and then when there's kind of not much on TV. Uh but yeah, F1's kind of the only motorsport that I follow kind of actively. Uh but other motorsports is not really I just kind of I sporadically tune in. Um I watch of course a lot of football, lot of golf. So F1, as much as I love it, it's not the only sport that I follow.
But welcome everyone. Hope you're good.
Uh thoughts about the Arsenal win that over the course of the season, they deserved it, didn't they? wasn't the most exciting of seasons, but there we go. That's all I'm going to say about uh football and Arsenal.
No color is just confusing, a little depressing. It will appear eventually.
I'm sure it will. Not much we can do about it right now. And it is off-putting. I will lie. It is off-putting. But we'll see what drivers can do. Of course, updates uh quite uh large for the likes of Mercedes and McLaren. How will they fair in this FP1 session? It's only practice session that we have before we then head into qualifying. Uh we have the C3, C4 and C5 here this weekend entire compounds. So those on the hard compound tire right now on the C3. Um Serge Pres on the softs is on the softest compound that we have available this season which is the C5. And that is always the case here at Montreal. It is a circuit where tire degradation isn't high. It's a very low abrasive circuit. It was relayed back in 2024 and the track isn't really known for that anyway because there's like no high loaded corners here. The car doesn't there's no there's no real kind of under steer that will occur. Um there is of course lots of over steer that you can get while you're getting on throttle because a lot of these are slow corners.
Um, so a lot of focus on the rear tires, the rear traction. And what the drivers have the difficulty of doing here at this circuit is balancing the temperatures of the fronts to the rears because there are no high loaded fast corners here. The front tires get cold very quickly. They're not able to get their tires up to temperature. That's why we see lots of lockups with the hard braking zones. Those brakes, those tire, well, the tires in particular just aren't up to temperature. Whereas the rears, you have to manage the balance of course of keeping those rears not too hot and uh getting uh trigger happy on the throttle because if you do, you will get Oh, there's a yellow in the pit lane.
So, what's also interesting as well is that we don't even have any colors for the yellows out on track when there's a yellow flag. Oh, no. So, it says yellow in the pit lane. So, I don't think we ever get a yellow when it says yellow in the pit lane. We'll see if there's another yellow. Um if if any of the flags come up as colors as well. Maybe there's just an an issue with the D.
There is there clearly an issue with the data. Uh Franco Colapinto reporting issues with his throttle already. That's not good. Pit lane is now clear for that reason. That that yellow flag was because Colinto was just trudging back into the pit lane with that throttle issue. But yes, going back to the tires.
the teams the tire what you'll see here is that uh the drivers and especially when you watch the TV coverage that you will see a lot of uh graining on the tires throughout the race and that is because it's all about thermal degradation. So uh the tires are not uh degrading via the um sliding of the car tire carcass over the track. It is because of the inter the internal temperatures and external temperatures and that's why you get that that band of rubber around the tire. Um so it's uh it's intriguing. It's an intriguing track and it could play into the strengths of uh some teams here uh that normally would maybe have struggled at some of the more free flowing circuits.
Is Botas stuck or is it telemetry? Uh can't quite tell. I'm watching I have got a TV coverage on next to me and I cannot yet see him out there. But I've just seen Lonoris lock up down into the last chicane. So just talking about that exactly what happened there. He's picked his braking marker and his front tire is clearly not up to temperature for him to be able to uh break where he wanted. So he'll have to adjust that the next time he comes around.
Dan Red Bull make half a decent car and Vstappen slaps that RB22 on pole. Still, it's only practice. It's only practice and they're on the hards. We will see some push laps I believe at some point in this session as we always uh do tend to see when we have the last qualifying session uh sorry last practice session before qualifying as oh Max just ran over uh the grass on the exit of turn seven there just a little bit too much so yeah threw up a lot of dirt there Max just uh took his eye off the ball there just a little Uh, do I reckon Ferrari is going to fare any better this weekend? I I have quite low expectations of Ferrari to be honest with you. Uh, because they haven't brought any updates and this hasn't been a good circuit for Ferrari in the past.
And now, of course, different regulations here, but just something doesn't it just seems to be that they just don't make the right decisions here. Charles also has the worst um worst record against his the worst head-to-head record against his teammates here at this circuit. No other circuit does he have a worse record than here against his teammates uh but he's been up against in uh Bettle Bet S and Hamilton. Of course, he hasn't raced here against Hamilton, but yeah.
Uh so something always seems to go wrong for Charles here as well. So I have low expectations. um they potentially could pull something out, but I think after what we saw at Miami, I think McLaren definitely I think McLaren are the team to look at challenging Mercedes, especially with the same engine that they've got. Red Bull Red Bull's still a bit of an unknown.
They really are. Now, the Miami pole uh the Miami front row start for the sappen was very interesting and it raised a lot of eyebrows. Oh, we have Lawson off. We have Lawson potentially in the wall at turn four. We have seen drivers lose it here before. I'm waiting to see if he is indeed Lawson into the wall. We'll soon find out if there's a red flag because that there is no room for error there.
Um it's very difficult for cars to um get recovered from that section. There is a VSC that's been deployed. So maybe he hasn't quite crashed. Maybe he's come to an unfortunate stop due to mechanical issue. I'm about to see and find out on the coverage.
Um they are taking a very long time to show it. I don't care about Lonorises on board right now. I want to see whether this car has crashed or not as uh Lawson not sure. Oh, he's just come to a stop.
So Lawson has come to a stop um to the left hand side. It's a very awkward position for his car to be in. So, it's a mechanical failure in the one and only practice session here for Liam Nson in the Vcar.
He's lost power steering. He's lost power steering. So, he's had to pull over Liam Lawson and well, Liam Lson has done four laps, four laps here in this FP1 session and he's going to have to go straight into sprint qual um in a few hours time. So, not a good start for the VCarb. And thankfully though, he is okay and the car is okay cuz that's a always a bit of a hair raising moment when you see someone has stopped on the exit of turn four because we've seen many a driver uh bin it there and they get very close to the exit or uh to the wall on that exit.
Apologies. Yeah, if you're just tuning in guys, it is not my fault. The I'll try and refresh right now. Look, we'll try and do it while there's a VSC. But it does seem that there is an issue with the F1 data at the moment. And there are no colors. Yeah, there's no there's no color colors that are coming through.
Unfortunately, no team colors for any of the the teams and drivers, which is very frustrating for, of course, myself and and you viewers. So, I do apologize, but it's out of my control.
Looks like Liam um punted into the wall.
Did he? I don't think so.
It seems like just when he shifted, it just went. So, can I refresh the map? I have. I've refreshed. We've refreshed everything.
If it's not coming through this timing tower, then it's not going to come onto the map either. So, so I'm checking other channels and they're also not got like color at the moment. So it is um via via the platform that we are using of course which is multifer.
Why is everyone great? The f F1 decided that we all should be color blind.
Oh red flag. Damn. In the one and only FP1 practice session, uh we have a red flag and I presume that is because of Liam Nson. Uh, and they just can't they they just can't remove his car safely.
Max is asked on the impressions of the initial downfall uh downshifts.
Max happy with the car. Max happy with the performance of the car from the feedback that he's giving his engineer.
So, if you're just tuning in guys, we do have a red flag here and it is because Liam Nson has come to a standstill on the exit of turn four. His car is okay, but he's has clearly has probably a hydraulic issue in that VC carb after only four laps. And he has uh pulled over to the side, stopped having any power steering, which is of course dangerous for um the drivers here. And yeah, he is waiting for this car to they're waiting for the car to be able to be removed safely. Uh what's interesting I I think it looks like their weight the the marshalss of course with how much influence the battery has here the marshalss are not willing to touch that car yet. Um so it seems to be that maybe the car is not in a safe condition uh for them to move it because he's right he's parked right next to an escape road as well yet they're not willing to um yeah they're not willing to to touch that car right now.
Understandably, the last thing I want to do is receive a severe electric shock.
Yeah, back to 80,000. Thank you everyone. Thank you. We did lose, of course, subscribers over the period, the 3-week period because once again, it was quite a quiet period, wasn't it? I I didn't really I'm the sort of person, obviously, my time is quite limited, so I can't put out content every single day or even every single week. Uh, but even then, I I thought there's not really much to discuss. I'd much rather just put content out there when there's something to discuss. You know, it was a very quiet three weeks. Um there may be something for us to to mull over um in the next period because we're going to get getting races thick and fast after this weekend. There is another two week wait until we head to Monaco, but then we start getting double headers come at us quite quickly. Uh so, uh yellow flag. Yeah. So, it seems like they've removed the red flag because everyone has made it back into the pit lane. Uh but they will be waiting probably for the VCarve team to get up to uh the his car and be able to do what they need to do to disengage it. Make sure it's a safe car to move.
Uh why do I only show the numbers and never the actual cars? Because that would be copyright. I cannot show live footage of the cars. Uh because yeah, copyright reasons.
Um, is this training? It's practice. It is practice. Yes, but that timer is counting down. They only have one hour, these teams. They only have one hour.
So, no 90-minute session like there was in Miami. And it has already been interrupted. And the names are all white because F1 is I'm going to change the pinned message.
It's a F1 issue.
But welcome everyone. Hope you are well.
There you go. Pin that message. People will still ask me anyway in the chat.
You think the global interest in F1 is slowing down? I don't think it is to be fair. I think it's actually very consistent. I think unfortunately for F1 this season, um it has been massively interrupted due to um due to circumstances outside of their control.
I mean, we all would have loved to have seen races at Bahrain and Saudi. Uh maybe not so much at Saudi. I think Saudi would have been a very interesting race potentially for all the wrong reasons because of the whole it was a track that's by on dead last when it comes to the energy recovery side of things. Uh super clipping would have been horrendous there. But yeah, we the season hasn't been able to get into a good flow. and Miami. It's a shame because Miami was a great weekend of of racing um for entertainment and it's a shame that we then had to then go into another 3-we break, an extended break um that was always going to be on the calendar anyway, but after already having the enforced fivewe break. So, uh I think the see I think F1 is still in a decent enough position. Look, of course people are complaining about the regulations, but you do speak to and I speak to a lot of people who know that I'm big on F1 and and they're not as big in it as me and they are enjoying what they're seeing at the moment because they don't care about regulations and about what the drivers like and dislike. They're watching it for wheelto-wheel racing to watch it for action and that is what F1 is providing at the moment. Um, so the viewership is still there. I'm still seeing it, of course, with you guys tuning in as well. Um, but that doesn't mean that F1 is above criticism and above reproach. Like they they need to keep a happy medium between the teams and everyone involved and and of course the the fans as well. So Jackie, good to see you all the way from Ireland. Uh, haven't chat to you in a while. Love seeing my interaction with my daughter. Yeah. Well, you wouldn't like to have seen the interactions with my daughter this morning today. She has been h like temper tantrum city today.
She doesn't know whether she's coming or going. Uh yeah, been one of those days at home with her.
Ah, free practice one will be extended by four minutes. That's the first time they've done that. That is Wow.
Who Who are you? Formula 1, who are you?
to the FIA.
We have never seen them extend a practice session with a red after a red flag. What the hell? Someone's feeling very generous.
Fair play. Fair play to them. You heard Max is happy. He is happy. That's what I heard on the radio. He said he was happy with the downshifts and and the gearing and and the locking of the car. So, the FIA is changing. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's let's let's just wait and see if they are or not. They're still being run by the same individuals or should I say individual. So, uh yeah, let's let's just hold fire. But positive there. Positive.
Oh, thank you, David. Much appreci, you are committed. I'm not going to lie. If I didn't have to or if it was my own decision, I wouldn't get up at 3:00 a.m.
to to for an FP1 session. So, I appreciate you, buddy. you're a mad man.
Um I would be I would be suggesting to you to get some sleep before we then head into the sprint qual session which is uh in three and a half hours time.
But thank you buddy. Much appreciated.
Someone FIA doesn't have doesn't trust having less testing time for these regs.
Yeah, unique circumstances perhaps. I mean it does make sense because it was so early on and they've only got one one hour, you know.
So Albon up to P4. So frustrating not be able to see the colors. I don't know what's occurring here. Um it's outside of my control. So apologies for that. Uh right now the growth of endurance and GT racing is a call for action for sure because despite F1 being popular, the other categories are steadily growing and with how available those are to viewers.
Yeah, I did watch not all of it because I I mean anyone who sits down and watches a 24-hour wait uh race from start to finish, I mean, credit to you, but it's not something I can do. I did tune in and out of it, of course, just to see how it was getting on. And yeah, it's always good. I've always, not just because of Max, but I think whenever F1 drivers have participated in other motorsport events, I have found myself tuning into them. Alonzo when he did Indie Car, uh the likes of Hulenberg when he did the World Endurance Championship and like Lemon, uh when you see Alonzo when he did it as well. Of course, he wasn't an F1 driver then. Um, and then Lander did Daytona, of course, a few years ago. I think it was before he became an F1 driver. Um, or maybe it was his first year in F1 he did it. Um, but yeah, it's I feel like of course F1 is the is the largest viewed has the largest viewership for motorsport um across the world and it's a positive thing for for other motorsports to have that. Whether F1 will allow that in the future, I'm not so sure. I mean the Indy500 is on this weekend, isn't it?
And they've I mean the the race is going to be happening at the same time as this, isn't it? Pretty much. So, which is frustrating because I would like to tune into that and it's always quite a fun race to tune into even though it is of course, as you will say, just turning left. But the Indy500 is always a an entertaining um race. So, it's a shame that that'll be on at the same time as Formula 1. But hey ho, the perks of being an engineering student. You don't sleep at 3:00 a.m.
That's fair enough. Yeah. Are you still upset with sign senior didn't replace NBS? Well, the system has been uh rigged, hasn't it? Martin Brundle, you're a bit risky. That's health and safety violation. He's sticking his hand out of a gap at the wall of champions.
Um that's a bit of a health and safety risk, Martin.
I think it's also due to the rise of other series rising in popularity, too, like endurance racing DTM. Yeah, I think I I don't think it's necessarily people saying that F1 isn't as popular because F1 is still as popular. Uh but the thing is is that whenever you've people will dip their toes into other motorsport series when yeah their favorite drivers also do that and then they may tune into that the next time there's a special event on or something or like the next race is on uh whether their drivers tuning into it or not. But yeah, there's just plenty of good racing out there.
different forms of motor racing on not just on four wheels but two as well.
Moto GP is also something that I've been meaning to get into but I haven't. Uh that's sounds like it's always very uh entertaining and quite dramatic. So I think uh so man car 2 it was free on ITV. Yeah I mean having free to air TVs also helps with the popularity of series. So right we are seeing some soft tires well on Fernando Alonzo's car at least. Fernando Alonzo who does like it around here but how the Aston Martin who have been given a bit nicer reprieve to be able to work on their engine they've been given special dispensation by all the teams to um give be allowed more money basically in development time on their engine because they are so far down in performance and for the betterment of the sport with Honda only supporting uh one team as well they have yeah given them that special reprieve as Fernando Fernando Alonzo goes up five.
So, Vstappen and Hajar currently first and second here. Hajar of course needs a big performance here after the woes that he had in Miami. Of course, crashed out in the race. Get did get disqualified for a technical infringement. Wasn't his fault um and started dead last and then eventually crashed, but look at at the end of the day that he was subpar compared to Bastappen with those new updates and we will see if he's going to be able to get that gap a lot closer here this weekend. Russell favorite for this weekend I think for many even though after Kimmy Antonelli has three race wins in a row did go first for the short while until Pashri took it back from him. Uh so the top three separated by less than a 10th that would be intriguing if that carries over to sprint qual fingers crossed for cirville nerve having some thrills in store for us this weekend. I think we will. I think we will especially with it being a sprint race weekend. declare up to P6. Where's Hamilton? P 111 at the moment.
Where is Hamilton? I can't even see him.
Oh, there he is. Making his way through turn six. He's just gone fastest in the first sector and he's got a bit of clear track ahead of him. So, so what points does Russell need against Kimmy to take the leader of championship? Well, he needs he needs to needs 21 primarily. That's what he needs. He's 21 over um Antonyelli this weekend, which realistically would require Kimmy to have probably like a retirement and for George to convert race wins. I mean, not not necessarily because there's 20 there's 33 points on offer throughout this weekend uh for first place if you obviously eight points for the sprint race and 25 for first place in on Sunday. Let's keep an eye on Lewis Hamilton though because he is on a push lap here. Kimmy's also on another push lap but not fastest in the first sector.
Hamilton has had a lot of success here at Silk Circuit as he comes across the line. Hamilton does go fifth fastest.
So, oh, he was very wide. He went deep and wide into the hairpin of turn 10 as I just saw there. So, not a good last sector really for Lewis Hamilton. Uh we'll have a check on those sector times uh in a moment. Uh so, yeah, seventh fastest he was. He was three attempts down on Kimmy Anteneelli and George Russell um in that last sector. So Hamilton not particularly quick in that last sector as Pia Pastric now goes fast is in first.
I can if you look at the pinned message in relation to colors it's outside of my control.
It's F1 data that's the issue. Oh, Anthony now goes fastest. 9 th000 of a second ahead of his teammate there.
Still no colors from Formula 1. This is really frustrating.
Really frustrating.
Lando's uh thing is broken. Uh what do you mean? What? in relation to his car out on track. I'm not sure. Pastry flying by the way on 11 lap old hards and he's got quicker and quicker. So 21 4 23 six and that is 4 and a half attempts quicker than George Russell overall but George is only half a tenth off in the first. So yeah, this track is going to get quicker and quicker guys if you're unfamiliar with this circuit. Um not a lot of racing happens throughout the year. So it is quite a green track which means that the more that there is as George Russell has a very slow middle sector. So I wonder if he locked up there as Okon says I'm smashing the ground at every bump. It feels like we are at 10 ride height. It's awful. So Aon not happy happy with his house right now. Uh but yeah the this circuit uh doesn't have uh sorry is evolves very quickly. So, the longer you stay out there, the quicker and quicker the lap times get.
Uh, put a Merc in front of Lewis with the Rosberg livery on and I'm sure you'll find those last times for sure.
Maybe. Oh, Kimmy Antonelli green. Uh, purple in the first sector.
Lando's tracker is broken. Uh, yeah, he seems to be in the pit lane. And Botas as well was also uh yeah, broken. So, F1 having issues with the data, it seems.
Great. We wait 3 weeks for F1 to come back and then uh the data transponders stop working. And we also have no colors when it comes to uh the the screens. Oh, we have a yellow flag. Oh, someone stopped there. Oh, it's Alex Albon. And it's a red flag as Albon crashed here.
Oh, no. That means Albon's binned it.
Albon's bend his Williams. Surely for this he's binned it for it's an in they threw that red flag instantly.
Medical car has been deployed. Oh, I wonder if he's okay.
Oh, that's a big hit. Oh my god, there's nothing left at the left rear. Oh, the front wing's damaged. Oh, what has he done there on? He's clearly lost it on throttle. He's hit the wall hard. Uh half of the rear wing is missing.
Oh, Alex Alburn. And that's our second red flag of this session. Well, they afforded they afforded them four minutes of extra time for Liam Lawson's red flag earlier. I wonder if they will give that again or maybe even more for Alex Albon's uh incident here because what happened there? It almost feels it looks like probably what he's done. He's had a tank swapper on the rear. So, as he's got on throttle out of turn seven off cber corner there, you're rising over a little crest off camber. car is quite weighted on the left hand side and you really have to kind of like short shift through there in in F1 cars or in open wheel cars as you're applying the throttle to try and not um obviously try and maximize your traction and with this track still being pretty green um he has probably just lost the lost grip there and had a tank swapper um out of turn seven. So wait still waiting to see a replay. He is safe. He's out the car.
Yep, he's a okay. He's a-ok. Okay.
He's He's moving fine. He got out of the car straight away pretty much. Um and he is uh yeah, walking away from that car absolutely fine.
But not a good start to the season for Alex Alban. Is it not a good start?
So still waiting to see what happened. I think he was greedy on throttle. Most likely. Most likely.
or he's he's come off he's maybe ridden the curb too much through turn seven on the inside. It unsettles the car as you come off of it. So, you're applying the throttle. We know these cars have a lot of torque as well with the the power distribution being 50/50 between the battery and the IC. So, the the engine, the internal combustion engine, but waiting still yet to see a replay of what occurred. They're waiting a very long time before they show a replay, which is interesting. But yeah, our second red flag is not smooth operating at all. No, but that is a lot of the air. I mean that will Williams be able to be able to repair that car in time between now and sprint qualifying. Francointo as well is is out of his car. um his car, the Alpine team are still working on his car. So he at the end of one lap um had a throttle issue. So he has done no running at all. Franco Colinto after of course what was a good good weekend for him in Miami.
That was a flying lap and again a red flag but relief but Alex is okay. Yeah, I'm I'm sure I mean look the top teams have got kind of enough running in. I guess Lando was on the set of mediums, but we may see them go to soft sooner rather than later.
They're still waiting. They're still waiting for uh the coverage, by the way.
just listened to Sky there. That's why I went silent for a few moments. Uh they're still waiting for the TV coverage or camera footage of Alex Alburn's crash. Um so we hopefully will get that soon.
How many years has Alex been in F1 now?
Oh, that's a good question. Someone can figure that out. He had a year out, didn't he? Is this maybe his fifth year, sixth year? Feel like he's been in F1 for quite a while.
Yeah. Let's have a look at the sector timing, shall we? So, apologies. Yes, everything is in all white. I F1 is having issues with the data. I don't know why. It's uh yeah, very frustrating. Uh so hopefully this will be fixed by the time we come to sprint qualifying. Uh but yes, Antonelli fastest in the first sector, Oscar Pashri fastest in the second, and then Russell fastest in the last. Uh Lewis did improve.
What did Lewis do by the way? Time Lewis Oh, Lewis went second fastest in that.
So, uh, he did improve in that last sector and he went second fastest. Still 4/10 behind Oscar Pastri though. Uh, so Pastri had a much quicker I mean look at that middle sector by Pastry. That's a lot quicker than anyone else thus far.
Uh, almost uh three and a half attempts there on every on Norris on Norris's teammate and Hamilton there. The Clair Vstappen Antelli even. Um, so Pastry definitely utilizing something there in the middle sector different to everyone else on that lap at least. Uh, maybe different deployment strategy. Uh, but yeah, much better for Hamilton in the last sector and pretty close between them all to be fair.
Uh, you think he hit an animal? Did Alex hit an animal? What? Did he hit a groundhog?
No.
Did he really? What? And that damage his car.
Oh, hang on. I'm going to check I'm going go check Twitter. This is where Twitter does come into is quite handy.
Um trying to see if something has happened uh with album. Come on. Someone surely post it.
No one's actually reporting yet. Appears he Yeah, the race is saying it appears he may have hit a groundhog.
My goodness.
If that if he has that's so unlucky for Alex Albon. There's still no footage yet.
Oh no. I think he has.
Well, I mean there Well, there's there's an image here of an onboard. It's only an image quickly. There you go. I can only quickly show it on screen. You can go back and pause that. Of a groundhog there. Uh, but that seems like it's running the opposite direction.
I don't know. I mean, I'm still yet to see if that's actually confirmed.
They're saying it appears um appears to appears to have hit a marmmont, but there's no actual there's no footage yet.
So, we are still waiting. We're still waiting. But thank you everyone for all for subscribing by the way. Yeah, over 80,000 subscribers. Much appreciated.
Much much appreciated. If you can continue to hit that subscribe button if you're if you are new here or if you've been here a long time and you're still yet to see that subscribe button, be much appreciated because we are trying to push to 100,000 subscribers. Uh that would be amazing. And put that silver plaque right silver play button right up here.
That's what we're trying to do. So, yeah. Thank you everyone.
I wonder why they don't stop the clock when an accident happens. It's only one accident. Yeah. Well, the thing is is that they have a whole session. They have a whole schedule for the day and if they do pause it, then that affects F2.
It affects the support races um and can affect the session later on this evening as well uh for sprint qualifying. So, they do have to to a certain degree run down that clock.
Still not seeing a replay. And maybe this is why they're not showing a replay is because Alex did hit an animal.
Ted Kravitz is now confirming he hit a groundhog.
So, I suspect he's hit the animal. It's caused damage to his car.
and he's gone straight into the wall as a result of it. Maybe that's what happens.
You saw that they're bringing V8s back.
Uh that's a rumor. That's Muhammad bin Salam just saying stuff. So, no one's posted actual footage of it yet. No one's got like a replay.
I mean, it's a lot of damage to his car.
Obviously, he's hit the wall afterwards, but it's Oh, hang on. Oh.
Oh, it literally breaks his suspension.
Oh, man. I've got a link. I've got a link before it gets uh taken down. I've got a link for you all so you can see it.
Oh man. like he literally he he hits it and it breaks the suspension of his car and he goes straight into the wall as a result of it.
You can check that out.
Oh, that's a real shame. That is a real real shame. That's so unfortunate. Like you you can't Yeah, it just breaks his suspension and he goes straight into the barrier because of it. Oh, are we going to get push laps now? I think we will. Yes, I I think we will.
Uh, they've probably got enough data that they can get. Of course, it's not a long session anyway, only an hour long, but I think they are. Yeah, they can probably get something out of this uh out of what they've got now. Uh the running and they'll go on to set off probably.
Why do I want to see him killing an animal? Well, for one, you can't really see it, and two, it's relevant to what we're talking about here and why he went into the wall. I wanted to see it. So, it's not like he's got out the car and physically killed the animal, has he? And you can't see it really anyway. So, but yeah, poor thing. Alex is okay. And uh yeah, he has uh crashed his car as a result of it.
So, really, really unfortunate. Cool.
Peter, didn't uh last year Lewis damage his car by hitting a mom as well? He did indeed.
Yeah, he received floor damage. Yeah.
Yeah, they're quite prevalent around um around this circuit.
Uh, he's not Lewis who famously tried to murder birds here a few years back.
Yeah, Sebastian Veter went, "Oh, I slowed down for the for the seagulls and Lewis didn't.
They should extend the session." They should extend the session, but they probably won't.
They probably won't. They've done it all once already. Let's see if they do it again. Will they give them an extra 10 minutes or will they not?
This this extra bit of time, is it helping Colipinto or not? probably not because the countdown is is still continuing. But yeah, video is on Reddit. Uh well, I've put a link into it into the ping chat so you can see that if it's still active before Formula 1 takes it down. Formula 1's very aggressive with their copyright strikes. So you will see something on Twitter, save it, go back to it, and it will be removed. Same thing on YouTube and so forth. That's why there's no like reaction videos to to F1 stuff and and things.
Um, which is a real shame, but it is what it is. That's why there's very minimal amount of kind of footage that is used in videos, content, and stuff.
So, yeah, even just bringing down that image, I'm a little bit scared when I do that for for copyright reasons.
How many lap laps in the Canada GP? Uh, quite a high amount of laps. I will check for you because it's quite a short circuit. It's on the higher range.
Let's have a look. Uh, so the race is 70 laps.
No driver colors due to an issue with the F1 data. So session will resume at 13 minutes past the hour. So we are talking 2 minutes time. Just under 2 minutes time.
No, FP1 is going to resume. And yes, thank you guys for the 80,000 subscribers. Much appreciated. Yeah, hit that nice target now. I will alter that for uh Should we alter that now? Hang on. Let's just see if I can do that the sub count.
Let's change it to 85.
Or do we just go 90? Let's go 90. Try and get to 90,000 subscribers. That's our target. Our actual target is 100k, but I like doing it in in kind of smaller intervals.
Did I watch it in 24 hours? I caught bits of it. Yeah, it was Yeah, it was all right. It was interesting to watch.
I think watching competing in endurance racing is a lot more fun than watching it. can be a bit of a hard watch sometimes endurance racing, but that's why personally I I kind of like check in and out of it. I watch the start, watch a bit of it, watch the end.
Are they going to do a soft tire run in this final 35 minutes? I think so. Yeah.
Oh, so they have extended. What is going on with the FIA? They've added another 15 minutes to the session.
What is going on? We have green light pit exit open and we have an extra 15 minutes added onto this session. Wow.
Wow. The FIA is changing, Matt. I I know. I know.
Fair enough. Do I like Radio Head? I can't say I do or don't, to be honest with you. I can't think of their music off the top of my uh top of my head. So, no pun intended.
Yeah, unlucky for Albon. That is unlucky for Albon. Uh, what do I think about Canada being streamed on the US Netflix but not on Canadian one? Is it not being streamed on the Canadian Netflix?
Really?
I I don't agree with that. I mean, surely you've got to stream it in the home like in the the country it's being held in, right? But maybe then it's TV rights.
It all comes down to TV rights. Maybe Canada has a specific rights holder um like we do in the UK which is Sky and they're like no we're not doing that.
Whereas Netflix and Apple have agreed a deal. So the leaderboard is gray, no colors due to an issue with the F1 data. We've tried fixing it. It's outside of our control. So, we are beholden to the the powers that be from Formula 1 in relation to the data here. I don't know why. I'm sure it will be fixed by the time we get to by the time we get to spring qualifying, which will be in a few hours time. Let me see actually if there is any way to fix it. Just checking the multiviewer.
Yeah, confirmed it's an F1 problem. So, it is not us in relation to the I just checked the multiviewer Discord and it is definitely confirmed as an F1 F1 problem.
Is this on Netflix? I think it'll be on the US Netflix apparently. They've done a deal that it's going to be streamed on US Netflix.
Uh, can the changes with regulations help McLaren? Uh, potentially. I mean, McLaren are still using the same engine.
I think for McLaren, their issues were more so on the software side of things, uh, about how to figure out that engine with their own software because they're not using Mercedes software. Um, so I think they've got on top of it. I'm intrigued to see how they get on this weekend. Uh Lando's transponder is not working, so apologies for that. They are still out there all on hard compound tires. We've had two red flags, one for Liam Nelson and one for Alex Albon, unfortunately colliding with a groundhog and it broke his suspension and he went into the barrier. Uh but they've added uh overall I think nearly 20 minutes of extra time to this session because of red flags, which is unlike F1, which is unlike them.
They can extend the session, but not their data info. I know. Unbelievable.
Your family isn't happy about this, but it's worth it. Finley, what? You could take a little break from uh your holiday getaway just to tune into a bit of F1.
Usually TSN or CBC in Canada. So, yeah.
So, I presume they haven't signed a deal with Netflix for it to be shown. So, that's probably why uh it's only being shown in the US.
Did I see F1 in IMAX in the USA? I think I did see a clip of it. Yeah, I mean I couldn't say I'm I'm too interested to do that because I of course do these watch alongs. Uh, of course I'm happy to be streamed on IMAX. Put me on the IMAX but for sure. Uh, Russell fastest in the middle sector and a green first sector.
So Russell's going to go quick here unless he bins it into the wall of champions which he hasn't done. So uh he comes across the line now. What lap times he going to set?
Oh 114976.
So not the quickest last sector for George, but a big improvement in the middle.
It's an F1 issue for the colors. I'm going to change that now. I I need to put that pinned message back up.
We need to put that pinned message back up. But uh yeah, the reason for Oh crap. What happened there?
There we go.
Uh, who has the fastest last sector at the moment? Uh, fastest last sector at the moment belongs to George Russell with a 29.820.
Uh, the fastest middle sector is Jules Russell as well with a 23.636. 636 and then Antonyelli has the fastest first sector which is 21318.
Russell will win this GP given his liness with this track. I think he's strong. He's my prediction to win the race on Sunday. Yeah, he definitely does like this track.
He's always done well here.
Time will tell though. Oh, Oscar Pastri.
Did you see that? He just went [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] That was very bad. So, he wasn't happy about what just happened uh for his lap. Um potentially made a mistake in the middle sector as Antinelli goes fastest.
There we go. Big improvement in the last sector at 29619.
Unable to do well, he was able to do what his teammate wasn't last time around. Uh which was improving the last sector. Pier Gazley up to P14. Bman down in 20th. Colapinto still got issues with that car, so he's not out there.
hasn't been out there at all other than the first outlap. There's Russell. Oh.
Oh, Georgie boy. Georgie boy pushing.
He's gone fastest in the first sector.
Let's Let's stay on board of him, shall we?
Uh, did I see F1 Monopol they got have an F1 Monopoly set now? I did see that.
I didn't look at the exacts though of like what each square was.
So, George Russell is yellow by the way in the middle sector, but by 100th of a second from his fastest. So that middle sector that he's just set is still quicker than Kimmy's last time around.
So he's coming down the back straight now. Let's see how he fares.
What just happened?
Why did that just switch?
F1 data honestly is I mean I'm not complaining. It's not like the the track did just flip. The the track just flipped of its own accord. I don't know why it just did, but it's all right. It's all right.
Uh Russell goes fastest there. 114560.
So, a good good lap there for George Russell. Fastest overall. Uh basically able to match Kimmy's last sector of time, which is a 29 656.
What's up with Lando? Lando is out there. Lando's okay. He's just not his transponder isn't working.
There's There's issues with the F1 data.
We've just seen the track flip. We've just uh we've seen Lando's transponder not work. We've seen Botas's transponder not work, and we've got no colors. So, yeah, I don't know what they've been doing in this three weeks off, but they clearly haven't focused on troubleshooting their data, which has had issues this season.
Everyone's going have to go counterclockwise now. Yeah. I mean, it's not too offputting, is it? Let's be real. It's uh it's it's okay. It's not like the orientation of of the track is is unsettling in any way. I actually think last year this was how the track was orientated. So, I think the other way round was actually off-putting. So, I actually prefer it like this.
Lucky the drivers all stayed on track.
Yeah. But thank you everyone for tuning in. By the way, hit that like and subscribe button if you haven't already.
Uh how many likes are the stream? Is the stream out? Uh 276 likes. Not bad. Not bad. Uh hit the yeah like button. Let's see if you can get to 500. That'd be amazing uh for us. It does actually help the channel um move forward and continue to grow, which we are doing at over 80,000 subscribers. Uh so George Russell fastest first sector is improving.
George is starting to get into a groove, isn't he?
>> He's uh trying to get into he's Well, he is getting into a groove. Not trying, he is. Let's see if he goes purple. He's got purple in the middle sector as well.
He's done 21 laps on this set of hearts, by the way. That's interesting.
Has he done? Yeah, he has done 21 laps on this set of hard compound tires and he's continuing to improve. So, that just shows that this track is getting quicker and quicker.
But Anteli, oh my god. And he's just Antonell's just gone two attempts quicker in the first sector over George.
What?
So George coming across the line now and he does a 114 444, but Kimmy's gone two temps quicker in the first sector. Now really this kind of doesn't matter too much. He's just lost uh three temp four temps there nearly in in the middle sector. So he's probably had a maybe he used too much battery in the first sector. Maybe they're playing around with the battery deployment, trying to see the battery deployment strategies and see where's where uh where it's good and where it isn't uh to deploy. That's obviously what practice is all for. Remember, to try and figure these things out. It was definitely where Mercedes were subpar in relation to McLaren in the sprint race last week, last time around at Miami as well. Well, it still worked fanti because even though that is obscene, the fact Kimmy was able to to get two temps on George in the last sector. So maybe that is the strat. Maybe that is a different deployment. I'm not taking anything away from Kimmy here, but maybe that is a different strategy there of deployment. Um deploy more in the first sector, lose a bit more time in the middle sector, and then down the back straight, which is of course where you want it. It's where you want it.
Uh, would I be open to having a sponsorship deal for these broadcasts?
Uh, yes. Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
Yeah. Well, I mean, I'm open for discussions over everything to do with this to be honest with you. Yeah.
Obviously, it has to work with uh what we do.
I did get approached last year by um by one of the one of the big um I think yeah I don't know how long that NDA lasted so I can't say who it is uh but I signed an NDA with someone uh basically with a company that wanted to do washalongs um a well-known uh what what should I say outlet motorsport outlet uh that wanted to do wash alongs. They wanted me to be a part of it. Um and but they wanted to do it in their own format and I refused uh because it was um not how I do things. So because of that, yeah, we didn't proceed with it.
So, it has to still work, you know?
Like, I know what works. I know why you guys tune in. And I'm not going to do something that interrupts the streams, you know? So, I'll offer you a sponsorship. Give me a membership for a bag of chips. Well, funny enough, I think I actually have sp not sponsors. I think I have uh Oh, no, I don't. I still don't have any free ones to give. I get 10 gifted 10 free gifted subs per month to give. So, right, George Russell hardly anything to split them two, by the way. Half attempt separating them. Oscar Pashi P3 Norris P4. Um, quite an ominous gap there between those at the top, isn't it?
Between Mercedes and McLaren. Uh, Hamilton. Hamilton close to Lando Norris. Um, improvements to be made by the CLA Vstappen one and a half temps down. Just listening to Vstappen radio.
He says, "I'm getting these weird snaps a lot in the lower gear downshift." So Vstappen not too he was happy with the car earlier, but now that car's starting to cause him a little bit of concern, so maybe that's why he's down there in eighth. But then again, it is just practice. We haven't seen push laps yet.
They've only been running on the hard cop. We have another yellow flag. We have another yellow flag there briefly.
Was there another groundhog on the track? I mean, it was Lance Stroll making his way through that section, so it could have been for anything. Maybe the stewards just saw Lance Stroll coming through and went, "Oh, yellow flag." Uh, but the Max just watching Max is on board now as he says he's having his little weird snaps on. Yeah, he's struggling to get the car turning in uh Max right now in that red ball. But they may be running, they may be doing also a different run plan, hence why he's only done a 158 compared to Antony and Russell have done 114s 114s. So yeah, many a reason as to why times drivers are where they are right now.
Is it supposed to rain on Sunday? It is.
Yeah.
Which team am I with? I'm with no team.
I'm McLaren and Red Bull sandbagging. I don't think they're sandbagging. I don't think they're hiding any true pace as I watched Lando also take to the grass through turn eight and nine. Uh I just think they're probably doing their own run plans and figuring things out. It's been quite an interrupted session, don't forget. And Anthony and Russell, look, they might not even go out there and do any laps on the softs. I I suspect they will with Russell in the pits right now.
Um but they've all got updates on the they've all got new updates on the cars except for Ferrari. And maybe they just want to do some long runs and figure things out that way. Maybe they haven't quite pushed the cars yet, whereas Mercedes have. They've taken some fuel out. You don't know. We won't get a true We won't get a true sense of performance until we go into sprint qualifying later on uh this afternoon or evening here in the UK.
Any particular reason why Bman is still slow? I haven't heard anything why Bman is down in 19th place right now. But Okon isn't too far ahead of him. Well, he is to be fair. He's seven times quicker. But yeah, Har I'm not sure if they've got updates here this weekend.
Maybe Har genuinely struggling.
But Bman, the fact Bman still hasn't done a lap time quicker than Lawson on it who did one on a set of mediums and only was out there for like four laps before his car broke down probably means that he's on he's doing higher fuel runs and they're doing something quite different to everyone else. So, uh there will be soft runs. I presume there will be soft runs as we head into the last 20 minutes of FP1.
I didn't hear about the Oon exit rumors.
I did and they were unsubstantiated. It was someone taking things out of context.
Um I think it was Yeah, it was one of those typical accounts taking out of context what the journalist actually was reporting on. So >> predictions for sprint qual McLaren's going to pull something out the bag here. I I think George Paul, Lando second, Kimmy third.
Uh I I think it'll be like an all I think the top four will be Mercedes and McLaren.
Oh, what's Lewis doing?
and Lewis locking up into the last chicane. So yeah, drivers having issues with do getting those fronts up to temperature as we mentioned they would do at the start of this session.
Is that what they're doing, Jim? Then that would make sense. Uh Jim says, "Understand that Har is testing up an upgrade with Bareman and if they work will be added to Okon after the sprint race." There we go. That would make sense. CA is clearly on a specific run plan for that reason then.
Did Alvin crash into a groundhog? Yes.
If you're just joining us, well, what has happened in this FP1 session? Well, we've had two red flags. The first one was due to Liam Nson having a mechanical issue with his car, which lost him power steering, potentially a hydraulic issue.
Car is intact and okay, but he had to pull over to the side of the track just um past turn four. Then we had a second red flag for an actual crash this time because Alex Albon as he was exiting turn seven crashed straight into a groundhog and it uh broke his left suspension and he went straight into the wall. Uh so that Williams has quite a significant amount of damage. Alex is okay but really unfortunate circumstance for him and of course the groundhog as well. Um so yeah that is uh the nature of this circuit isn't it? Lewis Hamilton last year received quite a significant amount of damage to the underside of his car after striking um a groundhog. So yeah, they're very prevalent rounds here and could have an influence in the course of this weekend.
And that's where we are right now. And well, normally the session would be done by now. But they instead of letting the timer just completely run down like they normally do when there's red flags because I presume we have had a 3we break and because it is a sprint race weekend uh they have afforded Formula 1 extra time. They've reinstated the time that was lost from Liam Lawson and Alex Alborn's red flags which is very kind of them.
Kimmy flying again. Hey, he's not quite flying right this second, but yeah, he's in the pit lane. So, there we go. George Russell want to set us off. Here we go.
Here we go. So, we're going to see some push laps now. George Russell want to set set us offs as we head into the closing stages of this uh F interrupted FP1 session. Of course, we'll be back for spring qual, which will be in a few hours time. Uh if you stay tuned into this live stream, when I end it, it will send you straight over to the live stream if it is already set up. the waiting room for sprint quality. But let's sort with George Russell right now as he's on a brand new set of softs. He Let's see how the race winner of last year um is going to fair. He's only got half attempt separating him and his teammate uh at this moment in time with them setting laps on the hard compound tire. So here he is on the soft. So he's just done a 20.899.
Oh, we he's just the first driver to go.
Sub 21 seconds in that first sector.
Let's see how he fares in the second sector. Need to be careful under breaking here into turn eight. We're seeing quite a lot of lockups and drivers go miss the turning point and and go straight over the grass. I presume we'll also see that when it comes to sprint qual later on. And unsurprisingly, he's also gone quickest in the middle sector with a 23.3, which is sticking uh three attempts over three temps. Three and a half temps on the next fastest time, which was Oscar Pastro for 236.
So, Russell full throttle now. Straight line mode open, rear wing open, front wing dropped as he heads into the breaking zone into through the water champions. Not into the water champions, through past the water champions. And here we go. Full throttle to the finish line. What is it going to be for George Russell? And it is a 113.8 with only a green last sector. So George, no error that I can see from him down into the breaking zone of turn 10.
So little bit little bit of a over steer on the exit of turn 10. I don't know how much that cost him, but maybe he didn't have enough battery as well down there.
But 113.8 as Kimmy is now so now also onto a set of softs.
Seems like Hamilton is better off with that simulation. Yeah, Fernando Alonzo doing quite nicely. Yes, but he's only done l he's done laps on the softs quite early, bearing in mind. So his lap time there in P10 is because he's on softs whereas no one behind him other than his teammate and Perez has set a time on softs. So, uh, he will drop down once everyone decides to come out on soft, which they then undoubtedly will be doing now as we are 40 minutes remaining of this FP1 session as Pastry comes out the pit lane on a set of softs and I now assume everyone else will as well.
Uh, if you was Jules, you'd be pissed, too. I get that Toto's trying to help Kimmy because he's really young and talented, a little bit like Max, but as a middle child, I feel so much for George. I guess it's just look, timing is everything for everyone in F1 as Kimmy goes fastest in the first sector again at 20.7. He's beaten George's first sector time there. Um, time is everything. I mean, George arguably should have been in Mercedes two years prior to when he actually did. Uh, four years was when four years was how long he was made to wait in that Williams car which was fighting at the back of the grid. He should have been he should have replaced Botas a lot sooner than that.
Um, and then yeah, now finally gets to be be at the front with Mercedes because when he joined Mercedes they were not at the front and now he's uh he's having a fight. Obviously he's his teammate who is now the new favorite in the team.
Wow, what a last sector that is for Kimmy Antelli. By the way, four attempts he just made up on George Russell in that last sector. What is he doing in that last sector different to everyone else?
I think that's I think that's a different battery deployment strategy.
That's got to be. I know Kim is good, >> but you don't make four attempts up on your teammate alone through basically just two corners.
Like you don't that that is that is a difference in battery deployment there uh for Kimmy and George Russell. Maybe that's the intention of this session is to try out different uh strategy uh modes. But yeah, the fact that he was slight or only slightly off of George's time in the last sector, but for him to be four attempts quicker than George Russell in the last sector seems LIKE THERE'S DEFINITELY OH, WE GOT COLORS BACK on the screen. Better late than never.
Better late than never. They're back. We can see who is actually who.
The color is back on screen. Ah, beautiful.
Lovely.
I wonder if one of the Merk deploy strategies is better in a race versus one in qualifying potentially. Yeah, it's difficult to know as Oscar Pestre goes fastest by the way in the middle sector, but he has um he's quite some way off of the time Antonelli set in the first sector. He's half a second down in that first sector. Pastry on Kimmy Antony.
Here we go. Oh, I think Oscar Pastry is going quite slow there. I think he's just had to cut the chicane into the last sector. Yeah, he has. Oscar Pastri.
Bit of a lock up for him. I think as I'm watching him now, undoubtedly having to cut the chicane there through uh turn 13 and 14, which we have seen quite a lot as well from drivers in this session. as I'm watching him. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It wasn't just a lock up. It was a big lock up. Both front wheels for Oscar Pastry there as he hit the brakes.
>> What's that tire Charles is using? Uh, it will be a soft compound probably.
>> Oh, no. Actually, he's probably done the hards and maybe he's out on the softs now. But Hamilton will is on the softs as is Charles Declair. As is Landon Norris. Landon Norris, we don't know where he's at right now. Uh, he sets the time. He's just done his first sex time at 269. So he's out there just plotting around.
I did lad nicely up there by the way in P7. Not too bad. Backs for Stappen still not out there. I'm interested to see what Mats can do. Of course, just because teams are not particularly quick right now doesn't mean that they won't be able to figure things out and get the car set up in the right uh state when it comes to qualifying in a few hours time.
So, George Russell here goes green in the middle sector. So, he's about a 10th down on he's just over a 10th down on Antonelli's first sector time on this second push lap on this set of softs.
Oh, bearing in mind he actually already bowed out of a second push lap because he locked up into turn one. So, this is his uh why he's on five lap old softs.
It should normally be four. That's a much better middle sector for George Russell at 23.2.
But then the last sector is where he is down on time compared to his teammate.
That is where the four attempts difference is compared to Kimmy right now in this session. Can he improve?
And if that last sector here now is not as quick as Kimmy's or a good few temps off, I am going to presume it's a difference in battery deployment.
So that's better for George. 294.
That's still 1 and a half attempts off of Kimmy's last sector time. The fact of that he's going a lot quicker than Kimmy in the middle sector. It can be due to driver driver input.
Of course it can.
Would they use different battery deployment strategies across the garages? I think so.
Track record is a 113 set by Valkyrie Bot House in 2019 supposedly.
Did Kimmy go backwards on the telemetry?
Uh, I don't think so.
>> No, he's gone into the pit lane.
So, the pit lane entry here is at the end of the back straight as Lando goes fifth fastest with a 114799.
Why is Rebel so slow again? Uh, they've just been doing their own thing. They've just been doing their own thing. I mean, Max didn't particularly do a quick lap there, did he? A 115. No, sorry. Max is on a push lap now. So, he's just done a 120. He's just done a 21.2 in the first sector. Lewis Hamilton's also on a push lap, but he's getting caught behind Ollie Bman. So, I wonder if that's affected his lap here. And it does seem like Hamilton has had to bail out of his lap unless Bman is moving out of the way of Hamilton here. Hamilton did a 234. So yeah, Hamilton still on for a decent lap time. It's good for the Ferraris can get sub 20 21 seconds in the first sector, but Max Stapen not going to be mixing it up with the Ferraris in this FP1 session.
Hamilton picking up quite a bit of traffic on this push lap. Ollie B in the middle set to Gazzley for the last chicane. And there's a yellow flag as George Russell as Hamilton goes third fast here. As George Russell is going very slow. has George Russell locked up into the first corner and that's where he's gone wrong there as Mustappen goes fifth fastest.
Much better last sector for Max Vstappen.
What happened there to Jules? Did he lock up again?
As Pia is reporting the flat spots for understandably uh what was the Oh, issues with Pastry's uh front wing.
Uh so they're saying that due to they're asking Oscar Pastry to manually deactivate straight mode because that was what caused the lockup. So interesting.
Oh, apparently Liam Lawson might be getting a grid penalty. I'm not entirely sure what for, but Ted Kravitz just reported that. So Liam Lawson unfortunately could be getting a grid place penalty for the start. I don't know why but so watching George Russell's replay as to why he was going slowly and I think he did just lock up into turn one and oh George actually spun round.
Oh, he actually hit the wall.
George hit the inside curb of turn one and actually went into a spin and he hit the barrier.
He went across the pit lane entry exit and he went into the barriers. There's a double yellow now for Estban Oon through turn five and I think maybe is Estban Okon going slowly now. All happening here in the closing stages of this FP1 session. We only have five and a half minutes remaining. They've removed those yellow flags. I don't know if that is for AON.
Um, he was only slightly that he touched the barrier. There's a red flag. There's a red our third red flag of FP1.
What has happened here?
Has someone crashed? I I don't know what's happened here. Is there some debris out on circuit from George Russell's tap with the barrier? I mean, it was very slight. He might have some front wing damage. Estabbanon has lost his front wing. Oh dear. Esban Oanon is driving around with no front wing. I kid you not. And it is he's hit the wall.
Yes, Esban Okon has hit the wall through turn four, the exit of turn four. And the front wing and debris is kind of everywhere. The front wing itself and the nose cone. So when I say front wing, the front wing and nose cone of Espanon's car is currently displayed out of the exit of turn four. And Okon is uh driving around his house to the pit lane with no nose cone.
So waiting to see exactly what happens.
Here we go. Replay of Ebanon as he makes his way up into the breaking zone of turn three. Turns in, gets over the curb. Fine.
Oh, that's harsh. That's Oh, that's very harsh.
So, he actually doesn't touch the barrier. So, Aon has already, and this is interesting, so Aon was actually quite far away from the wall. His car has bottomed out on the curbing. He was complaining about the curbs earlier and filling every single bump in the car.
And well, that I think is is the cause of his crash there. That car has ground out for Esban Noon, no fault of his own.
You would never ever expect to see a car crash like that. And as he's applying the throttle, the car just goes round on itself because he's lost all contact with the um with the ground. So yeah, that's not Okon's fault. That's a car setup issue. And that's uh something Har clearly need to address and something Okon raised earlier on in the session as well.
Is the session going to be done? Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.
Oh, for his for his crash with Gazzley, Liam is getting a penalty. Oh, that makes sense. Yeah, because it would be carried over. I did. Yeah, I completely forgot about that. That's how long we've had no F1. I forgot about that crash.
So, yeah, that makes sense why uh Limson would be get because he also retired as well. It makes sense that he's getting a grip place penalty for that cuz he couldn't serve a penalty in the race cuz he retired.
The session is stopped right now, but we'll see if they add maybe a little bit more time. They've done it with the two previous red flags. Are they going to give more time to the drivers here in this session?
leaving him with a huge bill for Toyota to foot. Well, that wasn't his fault though. That wasn't his fault. You think McLaren are sandbagging? I think they are to to a certain degree. Yeah, I think they are. I wouldn't call it sandbagging. I think they're just on their own run plan.
They're just using testing for what testing actually is. And they've got a lot of updates on the car. They got seven updates on their car. Mercedes have the most in eight. So, they're wanting to figure things out.
Scott will be on pole tomorrow driving his F1 kit. Yeah. Oh, you're making me want chocolate now.
Aston Martin improved a lot. Uh well, to be fair to Aston Martin, I don't want to take anything away from Alonzo, but uh no one else has done really kind of proper push laps on S yet, so it's a bit too early to say, but they've they've improved.
Session will resume at 48 minutes past the hour. So, you're talking 1 minute now.
What is that message from Lando? Lord, it's my fault.
Murky sandbagging in my opinion. I think there's more. There's definitely more in the tank. There's definitely more in the tank for all of these cars and we'll find that out very soon because we've got sprint qualifying in a few hours time.
Do you think McLaren's update is not working well for them or not? It's too early to say. It really is. Uh they've had some lockups. They've had quite a lot of lockups. So, I think I think there definitely needs to be some tweaks for McLaren because they have probably had more lockups than any other team that I've seen, but Mercedes also have had quite a few lockups. George Russell has had his had his own spin, but not for a lockup. That's because he covered the inside curb too much. So, qualifying later is going to be intriguing for sure.
If Murky Sandbag and Kimmy going to lap the whole field twice in a sprint. Not quite. Not quite.
But right, so no additional time here.
No additional time. That's a shame. Uh so we didn't get to see everyone kind of really wanted to see do some push laps.
Uh but it does seem like that it is going to come to an end here. We have had two extended amounts of time added to fill those red flags which we don't ever get from the FIA. So clearly they thought the third time was enough. Um two times three times too many. So yeah, here we go. Drivers just making their way around now and it will be of course them probably starting or doing their start procedures.
Uh it was just happy the race is wet weather. That's potentially for Sunday.
Yes, that's how the weather report looked. It could still not happen. Of course, if you tuned in last time around for Miami, that was of course uh forecast to be rain and we never got anything. So, Russell feeling the heat. I'm sure he is. Yeah. And I'm sure he he knows he has to capitalize here on a track where he's strong at, but Antony Lee clearly strong as well.
Maybe a podium could happen at the end of the season for Aston Martin. I I doubt that to be honest. Starting so far behind.
This isn't the F1 movie. They aren't Apex GP.
They don't have uh don't have Sunny in the car. Sunny Hayes in the car.
I do have Fernando Alonzo though, arguably better. But yeah, uh that who knows I it's too much to ask that Honda are so far behind. I don't think this season is is going to be very positive for them.
But there we go. Track is clear. We have the green flag, but it was only for them to really do an outlap and then they will be coming around to do their starts procedures for this one and only practice session before we then head into qualifying in a few hours time. We have a rundown of the end of that FP1 session. That very interrupted FP1 session. Kimmy Antonelli P1 with George Russell P2 one and a half attempts separating the two of them with Lewis Hamilton seven attempts basically eight attempts back from Kimmy Antonelli. So quite a large gap from the two Mercedes.
Then to the next car which is Lewis Hamilton and the Ferrari Charles um who is 9 and 1 half back from Kimmy Anteneelli. Vstappen basically 9 and a half back from Antony as well in P5. Norris and Pastry 1.4 and 1.5 seconds back. Definite improvements to be had for McLaren. I don't think that's their true pace at all. So I expect them to be pushing a lot harder and and to be a lot quicker when it comes to sprint qualad session for him. P8 uh his teammate unfortunately had mechanical issues very early on. Only four laps for him and then he had to retire his car.
Hulkerberg when that out is working.
It's all right, isn't it? Um in P9, Fernando in P10. Not too bad. Oh dear.
Estabban Okon has been noted for leaving the pit exit on the red light.
What? How's that possible?
Oh dear. Okon. 5second penalty for Okon potentially on the way. Uh cuz that's quite a big uh bad infringement if he's done that even in practice. Uh so Philando Alonzo yet P10 good for him. I still think a lot of the drivers behind weren't able to put proper like laps in uh because Isaac Bletto's there in P1.
Hajar 12th quite a large gap there but he had his uh push lap interrupted so he wasn't able to do a push lap at all on the softs. Okon we know he lost his front wing and front nose cone and now he's being investigated for leaving the pit exit on the red light. Uh, Albon crashed into a groundhog and then subsequently into the barrier because he broke his front suspension. Science 15th, even though Albon did crash into a groundhog, science is in behind his teammate there. 15th. Gazzley 16th. Not a great session for Alpine. Weird session for Alpine. 16th for him. Stroll 17th. Lawson we know brought out the red flag early with an early retirement in this FP1 session. Bman has a lot of updates on his car and they're figuring things out for that in 19th. Bartas and Perez 20th and 21st. And Colapinto didn't do any laps at all. He came in at the end of his outlap uh due to a throttle issue which they were still trying to repair. And there we go. That is it. Did Hel do a push lap on softs?
No. He the red flag came out when he was on his push lap. I think he got through the first sector and then the red flag came out.
I'm surprised Marclair lots of lockups.
Seems like they're struggling in a lot of the heavy breaking. Yeah, and that's something that they will assess of course. Yeah, lots of lockups for them.
The Mercedes weren't also immune to that either. They have plenty of lockups.
Uh, am I going to be watching the the 500? Um, it's on in 5 minutes.
Uh, the Weenie 500. Uh, I may tune into it. May not.
What time is Sprint quality? Sprint quality is on at half 9 UK time. So you are talking uh two and a half hours time roughly. Um so yeah, I'm going to leave it there, guys. Um have a lovely few hours. We're going to go uh grab some uh dinner and yeah, we will see you then.
Thanks for the subs all. And this is going to send you straight over to that live stream. I'm going to run a poll of who you think is going to be getting sprint poll, a poll for poll position.
And yeah, we will see you then. Have a lovely lovely few hours, guys. See you in a moment. Bye.
