In romantic television series, an ensemble cast narrative structure involves maintaining multiple interconnected romantic storylines simultaneously rather than focusing on a single couple per season, which prevents earlier couples from disappearing from the story and allows for richer world-building and character development across the series.

Off Campus: The Score l Season 2 TrailerAdded:
[music] [music] [music] >> Guys, unless you live in another galaxy, you've probably heard about Prime's new book adaptation, Off-Campus. Lately, I've been genuinely hooked on this new series. And honestly, since it's a book adaptation, I expected something a little more mid-tier production-wise, but the show actually went a little beyond my expectations. Now, if you're into book talk or romance books at all, then you probably knew about Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series long before the adaptation cause Guys, these books are literally over a decade old. And trust me, you can definitely feel some modernizations in the adaptation process, which we'll talk about later.
But first, let's quickly go over season 1. Season 1 covered the first book, The Deal, and followed Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham as the main couple. And I'm specifically saying main couple cuz there are many upcoming leads for future seasons that we already got introduced to this season. If you already watched it, then you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. This series clearly wants to build an ensemble cast with interconnected or simultaneous romance storylines. So, unlike shows that focus entirely on one couple at a time, Off-Campus is constantly setting up future relationships in the background.
In fact, the creator of the show, Louisa Levy, even mentioned in an interview that the series will never focus on just one romance per season. Always being [music] a anchor romance anchoring the season, that will be really key, but I never wanted Hannah and Garrett to ride off into the sunset.
I want them to stay part of the world, but I also don't want to break them up.
So, like they get to have other kinds of story. There'll always be side stories and hints for future couples. And honestly, in that sense, the show reminds me a lot of Bridgerton. As Bridgerton fans, we all know how painful it is when earlier couples slowly disappear from the story. Like Daphne and the Duke basically vanishing, or Kate and Anthony getting significantly less screen time afterwards. But thankfully, it doesn't look like Off-Campus is planning to go in that direction. The setup of the series was honestly exactly what I expected. Hannah is out there minding her own business, being bubbly and unbothered. And then Garrett crashes into her life with all of his cockiness. Their first meeting already told me everything I needed to know because while Hannah's cleaning the locker room after hockey practice, Garrett is casually showering nearby with an unbelievable level of confidence. Like this man didn't even try to cover himself. Naturally, I immediately assumed he was going to be another arrogant hockey player stereotype, but honestly, the storyline proved me wrong pretty quickly. Their relationship starts with a deal that benefits both of them. Hannah helps Garrett pass philosophy because he refuses to use his family name or nepo baby privileges. While Garrett helps Hannah get closer to her crush, Justin.
On top of that, tutoring Garrett gives Hannah extra money after losing her scholarship. So, yeah, it's one of those fake deal turns into real love situations, but honestly, the chemistry makes it work. What I also appreciated was the way the show handled Hannah and Garrett's trauma. Hannah's still dealing with the aftermath of her assault, while Garrett grew up with an abusive father.
Obviously, their experiences are completely different, but both characters are constantly fighting their own demons throughout the season. And honestly, I really liked that Hannah never lets her past define her entire personality. As for Garrett, he's so terrified of turning into his father that he pushes himself to be the exact opposite. And you can actually see how emotionally exhausting that becomes for him over time. Things get even worse after everything with Dean and the confrontation on the rink, which eventually leads to Hannah and Garrett's short breakup. Thankfully, they managed to work through it with some help from their friends. The breakup scene was actually one of the biggest changes from the books. In the book, Hannah is the one who breaks things off, but according to Louise Levy, they didn't want Hannah to come across as scared of Garrett, so they reversed the situation. Frankly, really important to me that at no point is Hannah afraid of Garrett. That change also affected the famous hands-off rule from the books, which I honestly think wouldn't land very well with today's less toxic view of relationships anyway.
Another change I loved as someone who didn't read the books was Justin's area of study. In the books, he's a football player, but the show turns him into a singer-songwriter instead. And honestly, I think that choice adds so much more to Hannah's character because music is such a huge part of who she is. It also makes her connection with Garrett feel even more meaningful. Guys, these are the ones I could find, but if you notice any more changes, please let me know in the comments. According to the books, the second story is actually Grayson and Logan's relationship. Even though a new actress for the role of Grace has already been cast for season 2. We'll have Ally and Dean as the main couple as already been teased, but don't worry, we'll still see the sneak peeks of Grayson and Logan. Ally and Dean have already become fan favorites thanks to their on-screen chemistry. From the dance floor to the chessboard, they are setting everything they touch on fire.
When she called the do not call person, we all thought Ally was going through her Ally's breakup in five acts cycle.
Let's fight Ally, which I can safely say we're in right now.
Then eats her feelings Ally, destroys three bags of hot Cheetos followed by raging diva Ally, then complete and total breakdown Ally has a well, that one's self-explanatory. And the grand finale, late-night phone call Ally, where you begged me to take you back.
>> That is not what I do. That is exactly what you do. Guys, you have no idea how big I gasped when it came out as Dean and not Shawn. The second shock came with the big reveal of Carter St. James as Hunter. I mean, pure chaos. Right where Dean Six Flags DeLaurentiis was ready to become exclusive with Ali, her no strings attached man, Hunter entered the frame. I'm not sure, and please correct me in the comments if I'm wrong, but Dean's sister Summer, who has been mentioned a few times already, might be the reason behind Dean and Hunter's beef. Other than that, we saw so little of both Ali and Dean's lives outside of Briar.
We know Ali has parents who put stakes so high when it comes to love, and Dean's family is a rich Boston family.
His friendship with Bo and the immediate connection between Bo and Ali made me want to see more of them.
But still, there might be some heartbreaking events that occur. Get yourselves ready to sob, guys. However, we will be seeing their backgrounds and the full story soon enough, cuz we might not need to wait for a long time to get the second season. Since the script is written by a group of writers and not one specific person, the process runs smoothly and quickly.
Also, season 2 was greenlit even before season 1 aired, and the cast is going to be right back on the set after the promo run. The first season was filmed from early June to October 2025 and released in May 2026. We can expect something similar for season 2, cuz the filming start date is set to June 1st, so we can expect it to come out in May 2027. To be honest, guys, I can't wait to watch the new season. There are so many stories to tell, and I'm set for it. I wonder how Hannah and Garrett will navigate their relationship while Ali and Dean try to build their own. I was a big fan of Hannah-Ali's friendship in the first season, and I want to see some more of it. Also, I wonder how Logan's going to go out of his crush over Hannah and meet Grace. But the most I'm excited for is the little hints and details that we might catch regarding upcoming seasons, cuz the first season was full of them.
I'll tell you one that I caught, and I hope you have some more to share with me in the comments. You know, Tucker was tasked with taking care of different fruits to get accepted to the frat. But guys, did you actually pay attention to the size of those fruits? They might give some clues about Tucker's own story in advance when combined with the Thanksgiving dinner where he worked like a single parent to make it happen. Until then, let me know who your favorite couple is or what you think will happen in the upcoming season of Off Campus.
And don't forget to follow for more Off Campus content.
