[00:04:52]>> Officers quickly focused their attention on Phillips after spotting what may be alcohol beside the driver's seat. Court records show Phillips had a prior felony domestic violence conviction, legally preventing him from possessing a firearm. And as the stop continued, officers became increasingly suspicious of what was inside the vehicle.

I mean, seriously, I mean, I would assume if you're a felon, like I always say, if you're riding around with a gun and you're a felon, you must need that gun.

[00:15:20]Officers located a loaded Glock 17 wrapped inside a towel in the driver's side door pocket along with a backpack containing more than 1,000 g of marijuana in the trunk. According to police, Maurice Phillips later admitted both the firearm and marijuana belong to him.

[00:15:41]>> Police also say Phillips acknowledged he was not legally allowed to possess a firearm because of a prior felony domestic violence. conviction. Court records later show Phillips pleaded guilty to having weapons while under disability and was sentenced to 2 years of community control. None of the other occupants were charged in connection to the firearm.

[00:15:58]>> Oh, so [ __ ] So, guilty having weapons under disability and he didn't get a fair charge. So, I don't know what that is. I don't know how it works in uh in Ohio, but apparently there you go.
