This video demonstrates how law enforcement officers conduct investigations by establishing probable cause through systematic questioning and evidence collection, showing that individuals with prior felony convictions face additional legal consequences when possessing firearms or contraband, as demonstrated when officers discovered a loaded Glock 17 and over 1,000 grams of marijuana in a vehicle, leading to charges for weapons while under disability.

RECKLESS Hustling 101..The AKRON Edition!! | Heavy Gantt ReactsAdded:
today.
>> He was playing basketball.
>> Just basketball? Where were you? Okay.
You mind rolling your windows down?
>> Listen, guys. Uh, listen. I ain't I ain't messing you or anything like that?
Um, there's a shooting not too far away from here.
>> The eyes, Chico.
They never lie. Uh, if you're not here for the brilliant commentary, the links in the description. Suspect Files TV is the channel. Yes, they have a great channel. Click that link and get up out of here because you should know I only do these videos for my audience. Let's not waste no time. God bless Akan.
>> Hey firm. Uh yeah, there was a shooting that's not too far away from here. Saw you gentlemen sitting here. Okay. Um to be completely honest with you, man, some the description is just black dudes wearing black.
>> Whoa. Easy, officer. What year is it?
Let's not bring race into this.
>> No, hold up. Hold up. Relax. Relax.
There's some black dude wearing black black t-shirts. Okay. It is what it is.
All right. I I ain't saying that you did it. But I also saw my gentleman over here and everybody's like a little sweaty like they've been running for a little bit. All you've been doing is just playing basketball. I promise you I I ain't messing with you.
>> You said sweaty.
>> Yeah, I I know. I know. I know. And I know I know it's crazy, but I I wouldn't I also wouldn't be doing my job if I wasn't checking. Right. Is that fair? Is that fair? How old are you guys?
>> I'm 29. You're 29. 22.
>> Um, okay. No firearms in here obviously.
Okay. Nobody >> actually just I got to cut in here, guys, because it is important to understand that that is a proper use of profiling. Okay. If there was a call about several black dudes in a car, there was a shooting. Should this officer be looking for a car full of white dudes? Should he be pulling over a car full of Mexicans? Should he be pulling over a car full of Asians? Or should he be p pulling over a car full of black dudes? Right? Like that's proper profiling as opposed to improper profiling.
>> Got a gun or anything like that? Cool.
Um All right. Uh you guys got IDs on you? Is that all right if I just check to make sure?
>> Uh my ID.
>> This my car.
>> This your car?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Ask for my ID.
>> Yeah. Where you guys live?
>> Uh >> I live right there on Brown.
>> I live right there off of uh Everybody do it.
>> Maurice, is that how you say it?
>> Uh oh.
Is this some Maurice activity? I think it may be.
>> Okay. Like you said, not no firearms in here or anything like that. Nothing I need to know about. Cool. Um, listen guys, I I ain't trying to trying to mess with you. I promise you. Uh, like I said, I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't stay over here and and ask and see what's some sort of questions, right? Because I'm just explaining to you the direction of the flight path from the shooting would literally bring me right over here. Okay. So, I I I ain't trying to make this harder than it needs to be. I'm going to just check make sure you guys are all good to go.
You said this is your car.
>> No, this is my car.
>> This is your car? Okay. Um, just hang out here for me here for a second. Okay.
>> I swear.
>> Yeah. Nobody's saying you didn't do anything. Like a girl just got shot down the road and the person ran over here.
>> We didn't hear it was like nothing. It was just awkward for us. We coming off the court. What the [ __ ] >> Yeah. No, I mean, nobody's trying to mess with you guys. We're just also not trying to let somebody who's shooting people get away. You know what I mean?
So, he's just going to check you real quick cuz it's what we have to do when we make interactions with the public and then you guys can just get on your way.
The courts actually look pretty good over here.
>> All right. At least.
>> Are they busy usually or no?
>> A couple people over.
>> Oh, okay.
>> What's up?
>> Right past. Check out the court. People daytime.
>> No, I mean a little bit, man. But I work at nights and usually I'm on the west side. So I don't really come over here that of or that often. So >> So you guys work? Are you in school or what do you do?
>> They school.
>> Uh I hope they're not smoking in that car. You you hear me? I hope they're not smoking in the car. But understand they they very well the officer if they are smoking in the car that officer smelt it and they say nothing about it.
Let's keep watching.
Ain't say nothing about it yet.
>> Where you go?
>> Online.
>> You go to where? I'm sorry. Online.
>> Oh, okay. I feel you.
I just got done doing some school online too. Do you like it? You think it's like easier to like do all your other stuff with or do you miss like kind of just like going in person and stuff?
>> Every time I went in person, I used to face online better. The driver is identified as Maurice Phillips.
>> Oh, hold on. I got to snap real quick.
Every time you go to school, young man, you getting suspended, so online classes are best for you. Why? Because you can't handle yourself in public.
>> Officers quickly focused their attention on Phillips after spotting what may be alcohol beside the driver's seat. Court records show Phillips had a prior felony domestic violence conviction, legally preventing him from possessing a firearm. And as the stop continued, officers became increasingly suspicious of what was inside the vehicle.
>> Hi.
>> Hey fellas, I I ain't trying to, like I said, make this any harder. I'm still waiting on some warrant stuff and everything like that just to make sure nobody's good or nobody has any warrants or anything like that. Um, in the meantime, just to speed this process along, you said there's no firearms in the car or anything like that.
>> Okay. Is it okay if we just check to make sure, like I said, that way we can get you out of here as quick as we possibly can. Um, and then you guys can go about your business. I can tell go tell my superiors you guys weren't involved in anything else.
>> I mean everything is cool. I mean like what's the point for y'all to check for firearms in the car?
>> So just to make sure you guys weren't so I can definitively say like okay well these guys aren't aren't you know in involved in any of this and that I was completely wrong. That's all I'm asking.
You know like like I told you before I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't come over here and then ask to 46.
>> Okay.
So, did you run everybody's name, but don't nobody got no water or nothing?
>> I'm I'm still in the process of doing that.
>> Okay. Can you just do that? I mean, did nobody do nothing here.
>> You You got an open container in the car, too, though, my fellow.
>> You said open container.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Open container of alcohol, right? Right. Right. Tucked underneath your door here.
>> All right.
>> There you go. There's your probable cause, young man. There it is. It wasn't weed this time, y'all. It was just an open an open container. Interesting.
Interesting. I was sure it was going to be weed. I'm I'm I'm trying to do you a solid in in a service just to explain to you why I'm why I'm here. I'm not concerned about this open container. I'm concerned about what other potential involvement that you guys might have.
And if it's nothing, then so be it. You guys are going to be on your way. I promise you, ain't nothing going to happen with this open container. Okay?
But if there's something else going on or whatever and you just let me know, I'm willing to work with you now.
>> I ain't got nothing going on playing basketball.
>> So So ultimately what I am going to do though, I am going to search the vehicle. I am in search of the vehicle cuz you have a container of alcohol.
>> All right, that's illegal, right?
>> Um, it is. And >> now he gets to come up in in in the car.
That's all the probable cause he needs to find out what's going on in there.
The, like he said, the open container is not no issue. He doesn't care about that. It's just what he needed to get his foot in the door.
>> I'm just going to conduct my business as as usual here. Okay.
>> Y'all better y'all better leave this [ __ ] alone.
>> So, be that as it is, man. Um, I am going to have you take a step out of the car. Okay. Um, I'm not going to place you under arrest as long as you're cooperative with me, okay? But I just want to let you know we we I could take this a lot farther direction than I need to. Um, so I'm going to ask you guys, and this is question for everybody one more time. Is there any firearms in the car I need to know about now? Okay, cool.
>> That that once that's out of the way, I promise you I'm willing to work with you.
>> All right.
>> What?
>> All right. Um, sir, go ahead and unbuckle your seat belt. You >> get your IDs?
>> I got them right here, right on top of the car for you. Uh, why don't you unbuckle unbuckle yourself and uh >> Hey, brother. Can you unbuckle yourself?
Turn off the car for me, please. All right.
>> That's what I'm saying. Everything is cool. Like, what?
>> Did you listen to everything I just said?
>> Hey yo, my man acting like he got something in the car, ain't he?
>> I promise you, I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I'm trying to investigate a serious incident that happened somewhere else. All right.
Unfortunately, in throughout all this, our paths have crossed. All right, Mr. John, I'm going to have you put your hand Hey, I'm going to have you put your hands on top of your head for me. Okay.
>> Okay.
>> I'm going to have you take a step out of the car. So, go ahead. Put your hands on top of your head. Interlace your fingers. Interlace your fingers on top of your head, please.
>> Put your keys down. Interlace your fingers on top of your head. Thank you.
All right. Go like this. Put them right over your head. Thank you. Just stay right there for me. I'm going to have you take a step out of the car.
>> All right.
One at a time.
Relax. Relax. Keep your hands up there.
>> Oh [ __ ] >> You got some patrol?
You scared of the patrol?
>> Have a step out. Face the car for me.
Put your hands on top of your head.
>> Hands on top of your head.
>> Oh [ __ ] Here we go. Hands on my head.
What the hell?
>> Nothing going up.
You got something on you? All right, >> dude. All you guys were doing was playing basketball.
>> I don't care then. That's fine, man.
You guys good tight?
I know. I'll get you out. Stay right there.
>> We got to go home.
inside.
>> Which way?
>> This way. Like that. Just like that.
>> I ain't got no dude act like that, man.
>> I got I got another phone in my pocket.
>> About to face the door jam.
Hey, and it's very possible that these guys have nothing to do with the shooting, but because some random shooting happened in a nearby area, y'all are getting jammed up. You know what I mean? Y'all ain't got nothing to do with that shooting, but do you have a gun on you? Are you a felon? Do you have weed on you? You know what I mean? So, it's not your problem, but it's your problem.
>> Not your fault. It is your problem, so to speak.
>> You have anything on you that's going to stab you or anything like that?
>> Uh, I got a lighter in my left pocket.
>> A lighter in my left pocket.
>> Stay with him. I'm going to stay with Stay with him.
>> You can stay with him. I'm I'm going to toss this real fast. Yeah.
He's sending me.
>> There it is.
>> We're going to just 13 everybody for right now.
>> Just for right now, guys.
Uh, nobody's in trouble or anything like that, but just obviously we got to do our we got to do our business. Okay.
>> Cuz I want to make sure there's uh there's three of you guys and three of us. Four of us. And uh >> based off based off what I'm finding in the car, obviously. I just want to be safe.
>> Oh, there you go. There you go. There you go, young man. Now you're gone, sir.
Just like that. Just like that.
>> Oh, yeah. There was There's three of you and three of them, and I didn't want to look underneath the seat and all three of them run when there's only two of us.
>> The way you did, I was like, "Oh, boy."
>> Like in some states, if you're a felony, you have a gun. I think in Missouri, it's five years. five years federal. I don't know how it works in Ohio, but it's probably more than likely something similar. You know what I mean? Like again, you're a felon. What are you doing with this? Are you Do you have nothing to live for? I mean, seriously, I mean, I would assume if you're a felon, like I always say, if you're riding around with a gun and you're a felon, you must need that gun.
You must need that gun. But that clearly is an indictment on the lifestyle that you're living. You are living like somebody who has nothing to live for.
That's crazy. Anytime a cop gets behind you, anytime you get pulled over, you know, I mean, that could be a, you know, a trip for five years, you're gone. It's crazy living like that. But hey, man, you get what you deserve, dog. It is what it is.
>> It's a nice glove.
>> It was.
>> You want me to put the bar like the bullet in the chamber back in?
>> You could. Yep.
This is stupid. When you felt that gun, did it feel like it was warm as >> hard to say anything?
>> I mean, they cool down fast.
>> And it's got a port on it, too. So, this these cuts would cool it down in like 20 seconds.
>> It's worth me asking.
Yeah. What's up, bro?
>> Um, just all that stuff. That's my >> the >> Okay.
>> I mean, everything.
>> Oh, there you go.
>> Okay.
>> Hey, there. I got to tell you guys, man, I am going to have to do a dumb drug dealer brisketon so we can put them all together and look at how these dudes get jammed up. Look at this. You got You're a felon. You shouldn't have a gun. Well, he wasn't smoking in the car. That's a good thing. But you got an open container, which is just as bad as probable cause. You got a gun on you, which you're a felon. You're not supposed to have that. And you got a bunch of drugs on you. Yeah, you're a genius.
>> I mean, that's legal. Like, put that >> not that much.
>> Yeah, right. Like, it's way >> hear me out. Hear me out.
Officers located a loaded Glock 17 wrapped inside a towel in the driver's side door pocket along with a backpack containing more than 1,000 g of marijuana in the trunk. According to police, Maurice Phillips later admitted both the firearm and marijuana belong to him.
>> Good job, Maurice. At least you got some integrity. You ain't trying to put this [ __ ] on none of your homeboys. Good for you.
>> Police also say Phillips acknowledged he was not legally allowed to possess a firearm because of a prior felony domestic violence. conviction. Court records later show Phillips pleaded guilty to having weapons while under disability and was sentenced to 2 years of community control. None of the other occupants were charged in connection to the firearm.
>> Oh, so [ __ ] So, guilty having weapons under disability and he didn't get a fair charge. So, I don't know what that is. I don't know how it works in uh in Ohio, but apparently there you go.
That's what happened in Ohio. So, what do you guys think? Do you guys think that's just how it goes down in Ohio or homeboy told him something or what it is? Let me know in the comments.
>> Armor or marijuana found inside the vehicle.
>> All right. So, you're aware obviously you're not allowed to possess a firearm concealed in a motor vehicle with Okay, I appreciate that.
>> They don't.
>> They don't got a thing to do with it.
They're going to be out on the way here in a short short minute. How much tree you got? About a pound, right?
>> Is that a pound?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. Um I appreciate you guys being cool with us, right? Um, I already explained I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't come talk to you guys. I didn't say you guys were involved, but I wouldn't be doing my job if if if I couldn't, right? Um, ultimately at the end of the day, your buddy is going to go to jail. Okay. Um, so we got to we do have a job to do considering what was in the vehicle. Um, but uh, like I said, I I do appreciate you guys being at least open and honest with me. And >> hey yo, and everybody was compliant. It didn't get no worse. the person who should have got the charge got the charge. So yeah, so this is a fairly positive body cam video. Um but yeah, man, let me know what you guys think.
