This video reports on the US-Iran diplomatic crisis where the US military conducted defensive strikes on an Iranian ground control station near Bandar Abbas, shooting down four Iranian attack drones that posed threats to maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The US administration continues negotiations with Iran and Oman over maintaining the ceasefire, with President Trump rejecting Iranian proposals for control of the strait and denying reports of easing sanctions. The situation remains volatile with both sides maintaining military postures while diplomatic efforts continue.

US-Iran War LIVE: US Launches New Strikes On Iranian Military Site Near Bandar Abbas | WION LiveHinzugefügt:
fragile ceasefire. The US military carried out new defensive strikes inside Iran overnight, targeting what officials say was an Iranian drone control station near the key port of Bandar Abos, as you mentioned, and that's along the street of Hormuz. Now, US officials are saying that American forces also shot down four Iranian attack drones that were considered an imminent threat to US troops and commercial shipping in the region. Officials say then a fifth drone was preparing to launch when the US struck the ground control site. So the Pentagon continues to describe the operation as being measured and defensive, not an expansion of war with the goal of keeping the straight of Hormos open and protecting maritime traffic through what is considered one of the world's most critical oil shipping lanes. It's interesting because the strikes come as the Trump administration continues delicate negotiations with Iran and Oman over maintaining the ceasefire and preventing a wider regional escalation. Of course, Vander Abbas is Iran's main military and shipping hub near the street of Hormos.
And why Oman? Well, Oman has been playing a quiet mediator role between Washington and Tehran. So, um you know, that's why Oman is now in the picture as well. Uh and the US of course keeps emphasizing that these are self-defense strikes. Uh possibly they're saying that continuously to avoid signaling a broader offensive campaign at least for now despite the fact that the president says all options are still on the table.
>> Right. Well Susan to recap those details we're just tracking right now and this is according to a US official speaking with Reuters. The military targeted an Iranian ground control station in Banderabas. Well, that station was reportedly about to launch a fifth drone. Well, this follows the shoot down of four Iranian oneway attack drones that officials say posed a threat around the straight of Formus. Well, thank you so much Susan for joining us on the broadcast and getting us all the details. Our top focus on beyond at this hour. The US military carried out new overnight strikes in Iran targeting a military site and shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat near the straight of Formos. And this according to a US official. The official told Reuters that the targeted site was an Iranian ground control station in Bandhar Abbas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone. The official described the action as measured purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire. Iranian media said the revolutionary guards fired at an American oil tanker after it attempted to pass through the straight of Formus with its radar system turned off forcing it to stop and turn back.
Iranian media also said that the US military struck a scorched earth area around Bandurabas and that the three explosions reported earlier were linked to the incident. This follows an exchange of threats between Iran and US.
Iran on Wednesday said a return to war was unlikely but its military was nonetheless lying in wait while US President Donald Trump threatened to finish the job if the Iran did not agree to a deal. US President Donald Trump has said that he's not satisfied yet with the terms of the deal being negotiated with Iran. He said that Thran was very much intent on reaching an agreement to end the conflict, but added that so far they haven't gotten there. Speaking to reporters at a cabinet meeting, the US president repeated Washington's willingness to resume strikes if a deal is not reached. His remarks come after Iranian state TV reported what it described as details of a draft agreement. Now it included US lifting its naval blockade on Iran's ports in return of Iran restoring commercial traffic through the straight of form.
It said the management and routing of the vessels will be handled by Iran and Oman asked whether he would accept such terms. Trump answered in negative.
Listen to this.
>> Nobody's going to control it. We're going to watch over it. We'll watch over it, but nobody's going to control it.
That's part of the negotiation that we have. They would like to control it.
Nobody's going to control it. It's international waters and Oman will behave just like everybody else and we'll have to blow them up. They understand that they'll be fine.
>> The US president also denied reports that he was considering easing American sanctions on Thran or was willing to allow Russia and China to remove Iran's highly enriched uranium.
>> US considering easing sanctions on Iran to allow Iran to sell its crude to market? No, we're not talking about any easing of sanctions or giving money. No sanctions, no money, no nothing. Uh we have control of money that they claim is theirs. We'll keep control of that money. When they behave properly and when they do what's right, we'll let them have their money. But right now, we're not doing that. And it's not one thing is not contingent on the other.

Always a pleasure speaking with you. And uh let's start right off. US maintains that the strikes were defensive in nature to maintain the ceasefire. Uh in your understanding, in your appreciation, can strikes ensure the continuity of a ceasefire as fragile as this?
>> Well, in many respects, we're seeing both sides violate the ceasefire. Mhm.
>> And I think part of what's going on here is that these uses of military force are in the service of trying to put pressure on the other side to make a deal at the negotiating table. If either side wanted to go back to war, they have more than the needed excuse to do so. But the fact that the United States is going after a particular drone, a particular speedboat, a particular radar at a port in Bonder Abas that suggests that this is more about coercive diplomacy. The message being sent is we are still in you willing to use force. We will use force when we need to, but we'd rather settle this at the negotiating table.
Will this turn into a wider war? Could something trigger a a more tactical use of force into a a wider return to full-scale bombing? Yes. But at least for now, both sides are holding back.
Both sides are still pushing and hoping for a deal at the negotiating table.
>> Right, Dr. Captain? And now coming to the big headline. Of course, US President Trump has said that he's not satisfied with the ter terms of the deal as of yet, but he has reiterated that Thran is very much intent on agreeing to these terms, but uh agreeing to a u you know an agreement on the larger scale.
But of course, we understand that concessions have to be made on both sides and Donald Trump has said that the midterms are not going to put him on a spot where he would accept a bad deal and they would not accept a deal at all instead of accepting a bad one. How are you reading into that?
Well, it the offers that we hear the Iranians are making are not serious offers. They're about continued Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz. They're about a US withdrawal from the region.
They're about America releasing frozen assets and dropping various economic sanctions that have been on the country for a very long time. And there's no mention of the core issues that the United States is looking to address in particular the nuclear issues the future of enrichment and what happens to the stockpile of high highlyenriched uranium. So in some respects we're still not really out of the starting gate.
We're still at a situation in which the two sides are talking past each other. I do think that on some level when Trump says, "Hey, I'm not in a rush. I don't care about the midterms." I think he's sending the message that he's got time here. He thinks that time is on his side. But the reality is that he is in deep trouble politically, that this is a war that is very unpopular in the United States, that gas prices are continuing to rise. So I think the Iranians to some extent know that Trump is under a lot of political pressure. Trump knows the Iranians are under a lot of of pressure because their economy is collapsing. I think that's one of the reasons that today they began to reopen the internet.
They need an open internet for the economy to function. So both sides are trying to say I'm tough. Time is on my side. But both sides are facing a lot of pressure to try to to make a deal sooner rather than later.
>> Dr. Gopchin, I think these sporadic issues of violence they are it's twice in less than 3 days already and more experts we've spoken to they analyze as these amount this amount of violence may continue but a larger scale of war it may not re uh resurface because both sides are under pressure as you correctly mentioned as well. We've heard that analysis from other analysts as well. Uh let's wait and watch how this one pans out. That was Dr. Charles Gupt joining us here on WorldN.
All right, breaking news coming in. The Trump administration has placed additional sanctions on Iran as part of an economic pressure campaign >> and this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of form. While the official described the action as measured, purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire.
And just to put this into perspective for our viewers, this is a highly calculated move by Washington by targeting the ground control station in Bandharas. >> No, we're not talking about any easing of sanctions, giving money, no sanctions, no money, no nothing. uh we have control of money that they claim is theirs. Uh we'll keep control of that money and when they behave properly and when they do what's right, we'll let them have their money. But right now, we're not doing that and it's one thing is not contingent on the other.
>> All right, there's more on this. For that, we're now going to be joined by Dr. Charles Kupchin from Washington DC.
He's a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Kubchin, thanks so much for making time.
M >> and I think part of what's going on here is that these uses of military force are in the service of trying to put pressure on the other side to make a deal at the negotiating table if either side wanted to go back to war. They have more than the needed excuse to do so.
>> Right, Dr. Captain. And now coming to the big headline. And of course, US President Trump has said that he's not satisfied with the terms of the deal as of yet. But he has reiterated that Thran is very much intent on agreeing to these terms, but uh agreeing to a u you know an agreement on the larger scale.
They're about continued Iranian control of the straight of Hormuz.

We've heard that analysis from other analysts as well. Uh let's wait and watch how this one pans out. That was Dr. Charles Kchin joining us here on World.

Well, we have some breaking news that is coming in at this hour. The US military says it has carried out new strikes overnight in Iran, targeting a military site and shooting down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat around the straight of Hormuz.
Well, this according to a US official is the statement. While the official tells Reuters that the military site a struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Banderabas that was about to launch a fifth drone attack. The official describes the actions as a measured purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire. Well, this is what we are getting in as of now. The US military has say it has carried out new strikes overnight in Iran's targeting a military site and shooting down four Iranian one-way attack drone that posed a serious threat around the straight of Hormuz. Well, the official uh US official tells Reuters that the military sight struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Panderbas that was about to launch a fifth drone strike. Well, the official described the action as measured purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire.
And just to put this into perspective for our viewers, this is a highly calculated move by Washington by targeting the ground control station in Bandharas. Well, for more on this, my correspondent Susan Therani has joined us. Susan, can you get us more details on what is happening and how do we get all the information? Can you get us more information on the same?
>> Right, we're hearing from Iranian and US officials now that despite a fragile ceasefire, the US military carried out new defensive strikes inside Iran overnight, targeting what officials say was an Iranian drone control station near the key port of Bandar Abos. as you mentioned and that's along the street of Hormuz. Of course, Bander Abbos is Iran's main military and shipping hub near the straight of Hormos.
>> Right. Well, Susan, to recap those details, we're just tracking right now and this is according to a US official speaking with Reuters. The military targeted an Iranian ground control station in Banderbas. Well, that station was reportedly about to launch a fifth drone. Well, this follows the shoot down of four Iranian oneway attack drones that officials say posed a threat around the straight of Formus. Well, thank you so much Susan for joining us on the broadcast and getting us all the details. Our top focus on Beyond this hour. The US military carried out new overnight strikes in Iran targeting a military site and shot down four Iranian oneway attack drones that posed a threat near the straight of Formos. And this according to a US official. The official told Reuters that the targeted site was an Iranian ground control station in Bandharbas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone. The official described the action as measured purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire.
Iranian media said the revolutionary guards fired at an American oil tanker after it attempted to pass through the straight of Formus with its radar system turned off forcing it to stop and turn back.
Iranian media also said that the US military struck a scorched earth area around Bandar Abas and that the three explosions reported earlier were linked to the incident.
It said the management and routing of the vessels will be handled by Iran and Oman. Asked whether he would accept such terms, Trump answered in negative.

So, the Pentagon continues to describe the operation as being measured and defensive, not an expansion of war with the goal of keeping the straight of Hormos open and protecting maritime traffic through what is considered one of the world's most critical oil shipping lanes. It's interesting because the strikes come as the Trump administration continues delicate negotiations with Iran and Oman over maintaining the ceasefire and preventing a wider regional escalation. Of course, Bander Abbos is Iran's main military and shipping hub near the straight of Hormos.
The military targeted an Iranian ground control station in Bandharas. The US military carried out new overnight strikes in Iran targeting a military site and shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat near the straight of Formos. And this according to a US official. The official told Reuters that the targeted site was an Iranian ground control station in Bandra Ababas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone. The official described the action as measured, purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire. Iranian media said the revolutionary guards fired at an American oil tanker after it attempted to pass through the straight of Formus with its radar system turned off, forcing it to stop and turn back.
Now it included US lifting its naval blockade on Iran's ports in return of Iran restoring commercial traffic through the straight of four moves.
>> The US president also denied reports that he was considering easing American sanctions on Thran or was willing to allow Russia and China to remove Iran's highlyenriched uranium.

>> All right, there's more on this. For that, we're now going to be joined by Dr. Charles Kupchin from Washington DC.
He's a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Kubchin, thanks so much for making time. Always pleasure speaking with you.
M >> and I think part of what's going on here is that these uses of military force are in the service of trying to put pressure on the other side to make a deal at the negotiating table if either side wanted to go back to war. They have more than the needed excuse to do so.
>> Right, Dr. Katherine. And now coming to the big headline. And of course, US President Trump has said that he's not satisfied with the terms of the deal as of yet. But he has reiterated that Thran is very much intent on agreeing to these terms, but uh agreeing to a u you know an agreement on the larger scale.
They're about continued Iranian control of the Straight of Hormuz.
>> Dr. Gupchin, I think these sporadic issues of violence they are it's twice in less than 3 days already and more experts we've spoken to they analyze as these amount this amount of violence may continue but a larger scale of war it may not re uh resurface because both sides are under pressure as you correctly mentioned as well. We've heard that analysis from other analysts as well. Uh let's wait and watch how this one pans out. That was Dr. Charles Kchin joining us here on World.

And just to put this into perspective for our viewers, this is a highly calculated move by Washington by targeting the ground control station in Bandharas.
But the fact that the United States is going after a particular drone, a particular speedboat, a particular radar at a port in Bandur Abas that suggests that this is more about coercive diplomacy.
We're still in a situation in which the two sides are talking past each other.
>> Dr. Dr. Gopchin I think these sporadic issues of violence they are it's twice in less than 3 days already and more experts we've spoken to they analyze as these amount this amount of violence may continue but a larger scale of war it may not re uh resurface because both sides are under pressure as you correctly mentioned as well. We've heard that analysis from other analysts as well. Uh let's wait and watch how this one pans out. That was Dr. Charles Gupt joining us here on WorldN.
All right, breaking news coming in. The Trump administration has placed additional sanctions on Iran as part of an economic pressure campaign >> and this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of formoose. this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of Hormuz >> and the sanctions target Iran's Persian Gulf state authority and any person or entity cooperating with the agency that approves transit in the straight of Hormuz and charges.
Well, the official uh US official tells Reuters that the military side struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Panderas that was about to launch a fifth drone strike. While the official described the action as measured, purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire.
And just to put this into perspective for our viewers, this is a highly calculated move by Washington by targeting the ground control station in Bandharas. Well, for more on this, my correspondent Susan Therani has joined us. Susan, can you get us more details on what is happening and how do we get all the information? Can you get us more information on the same?
>> Right, we're hearing from Iranian and US officials now that despite a fragile ceasefire, the US military carried out new defensive strikes inside Iran overnight, targeting what officials say was a Iranian drone control station near the key port of Bandar Abos. as you mentioned and that's along the street of Hormuz. Now, US officials are saying that American forces also shot down four Iranian attack drones that were considered an imminent threat to US troops and commercial shipping in the region. Officials say then a fifth drone was preparing to launch when the US struck the ground control site. Of course, Bander Abbas is Iran's main military and shipping hub near the straight of Hormos. And why Oman? Well, Oman has been playing a quiet mediator role between Washington and Tehran. So um you know that's why Oman is now in the picture as well and the US of course keeps emphasizing that these are self-defense strikes and possibly they're saying that continuously to avoid signaling a broader offensive campaign at least for now despite the fact that the president says all options are still on the table.
>> Right. Well, Susan, to recap those details, we just tracking right now and this is according to a US official speaking with Reuters. The military targeted an Iranian ground control station in Banderbas. That station was reportedly about to launch a fifth drone. Well, this follows the shootown of four Iranian oneway attack drones that officials say posed a threat around the straight of Formus. Well, thank you so much Susan for joining us on the broadcast and getting us all the details. Uh, >> top focus on Beyond this hour. The US military carried out new overnight strikes in Iran, targeting a military site and shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat near the street of Formos. And this according to a US official. The official told Reuters that the targeted site was an Iranian ground control station in Bandra Ababas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone. The official described the action as measured, purely defensive, and intended to maintain the ceasefire.
Iranian media said the revolutionary guards fired at an American oil tanker after it attempted to pass through the straight of Formus with its radar system turned off forcing it to stop and turn back. Iranian media also said that the US military struck a scored earth area around Bandurabas and that the three explosions reported earlier were linked to the incident. This follows an exchange of threats between Iran and US.
Iran on Wednesday said a return to war was unlikely but its military was nonetheless lying in wait while US President Donald Trump threatened to finish the job if the Iran did not agree to a deal. US President Donald Trump has said that he is not satisfied yet with the terms of the deal being negotiated with Iran. He said that Theran was very much intent on reaching an agreement to end the conflict but added that so far they haven't gotten there. Speaking to reporters at a cabinet meeting, the US president repeated Washington's willingness to resume strikes if a deal is not reached. His remarks come after Iranian state TV reported what it described as details of a draft agreement. Now, it included US lifting its naval blockade on Iran's ports in return of Iran restoring commercial traffic through the straight of form.
It said the management and routing of the vessels will be handled by Iran and Oman. asked whether he would accept such terms. Trump answered in negative.

>> Nobody's going to control it. We're going to watch over it. We'll watch over it, but nobody's going to control it.
That's part of the negotiation that we have. They would like to control it.
Nobody's going to control it. It's international waters. And Oman will behave just like everybody else. So, we'll have to blow them up. They understand that. They'll be fine.
Uh we'll keep control of that money and when they behave properly and when they do what's right, we'll let them have their money. But right now, we're not doing that and it's not one thing is not contingent on the other.

Well, Susan, to recap those details we just tracking right now and this is according to a US official speaking with Reuters, the military targeted an Iranian ground control station in Banderabas. That station was reportedly about to launch a fifth drone. Well, this follows the shoot down of four Iranian oneway attack drones that officials say posed a threat around the straight of Formus. Well, thank you so much Susan for joining us on the broadcast and getting us all the details. Uh top focus on beyond at this hour. The US military carried out new overnight strikes in Iran, targeting a military site and shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat near the straight of Formos. And this according to a US official. The official told Reuters that the targeted site was an Iranian ground control station in Bander Abas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone.
US President Donald Trump has said that he's not satisfied yet with the terms of the deal being negotiated with Iran. He said that Thran was very much intent on reaching an agreement to end the conflict but added that so far they haven't gotten there.

That's part of the negotiation that we have. They would like to control it.
Nobody's going to control it. It's international waters and Oman will behave just like everybody else. So, we'll have to blow them up. They understand that. They'll be fine.
The US president also denied reports that he was considering easing American sanctions on Thran or was willing to allow Russia and China to remove Iran's highly enriched uranium.
>> US considering easing sanctions on Iran to allow Iran to sell its crew to market?
>> No, we're not talking about any easing of sanctions or giving money. No sanctions, no money, no nothing. uh we have control of money that they claim is theirs. Uh we'll keep control of that money and when they behave properly and when they do what's right, we'll let them have their money. But right now, we're not doing that and it's not one thing is not contingent on the other.

But the fact that the United States is going after a particular drone, a particular speedboat, a particular radar at a port in Bandurabas that suggests that this is more about coercive diplomacy.
>> Right, Dr. Captain. And now coming to the big headline. And of course, US President Trump has said that he's not satisfied with the terms of the deal as of yet, but he has reiterated that Thran is very much intent on agreeing to these terms, but uh agreeing to a u you know an agreement on the larger scale.
>> Dr. Charles Guptin joining us here on World.
>> All right, breaking news coming in. The Trump administration has placed additional sanctions on Iran as part of an economic pressure campaign >> and this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of form. The Trump administration has now placed additional sanctions on Iran as part of an economic pressure campaign.
this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of Hormuz >> and the sanctions target Iran's Persian Gulf state authority and any person or entity cooperating with the agency that approves transit in the state of Hormuz and charges.
Well, we have some breaking news that is coming in at this hour. The US military says it has carried out new strikes overnight in Iran, targeting a military site and shooting down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat around the straight of Hormuz.
Well, this according to a US official is the statement. While the official tells Reuters that the military site a struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Banderbas that was about to launch a fifth drone attack. The official describes the actions as a measured purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire. Well, this is what we are getting in as of now. The US military has say it has carried out new strikes overnight in Iran's targeting a military site and shooting down four Iranian one-way attack drone that posed a serious threat around the straight of moose.
>> Right, we're hearing from Iranian and US officials now that despite a fragile ceasefire, the US military carried out new defensive strikes inside Iran overnight, targeting what officials say was an Iranian drone control station near the key port of Bandar Aarab Boss.
as you mentioned and that's along the street of Hormuz. Now, US officials are saying that American forces also shot down four Iranian attack drones that were considered an imminent threat to US troops and commercial shipping in the region. Officials say then a fifth drone was preparing to launch when the US struck the ground control site.

Will this turn into a wider war? Could something trigger a a more tactical use of force into a a wider return to full-scale bombing? Yes. But at least for now, both sides are holding back.
Both sides are still pushing and hoping for a deal at the negotiating table.
>> Right, Dr. Katherine. And now coming to the big headline. And of course, US President Trump has said that he's not satisfied with the terms of the deal as of yet. But he has reiterated that Thran is very much intent on agreeing to these terms, but uh agreeing to a u you know an agreement on the larger scale.
They're about continued Iranian control of the Straight of Hormuz.
Charles Kchin joining us here on WorldN.
All right, breaking news coming in. The Trump administration has placed additional sanctions on Iran as part of an economic pressure campaign >> and this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of formoose. The sanctions target Iran's Persian Gulf Strait authority and any person or entity which is cooperating with the agency that approves transit in the strait and charges to the latest development we're tracking for you. The Trump administration while negotiations are on sporadic experts of violence being seen in the state of Hormuz. The Trump administration has now placed additional sanctions on Iran as part of an economic pressure campaign.
this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of Hormuz >> and the sanctions target Iran's Persian Gulf state authority and any person or entity cooperating with the agency that approves transit in the state of Hormus and charges to well we have some breaking news that is coming in at this hour the US military says it has carried out new strikes overnight in Iran targeting a military site and shooting down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat around the straight of Hormuz.
Well, this according to a US official is the statement. While the official tells Reuters that the military site a struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Bandabas that was about to launch a fifth drone attack. Well, the official uh US official tells Reuters that the military sight struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Panderas that was about to launch a fifth drone strike.
>> Right, we're hearing from Iranian and US officials now that despite a fragile ceasefire, the US military carried out new defensive strikes inside Iran overnight, targeting what officials say was an Iranian drone control station near the keyport of Bandar Abos. as you mentioned and that's along the street of Hormuz. Now, US officials are saying that American forces also shot down four Iranian attack drones that were considered an imminent threat to US troops and commercial shipping in the region. Officials say then a fifth drone was preparing to launch when the US struck the ground control site. Of course, Bander Abbos is Iran's main military and shipping hub near the straight of Hormos.
The US military carried out new overnight strikes in Iran targeting a military site and shot down four Iranian oneway attack drones that posed a threat near the street of Formos.
Iranian media also said that the US military struck a scorched earth area around Bandar Abas and that the three explosions reported earlier were linked to the incident.
Now it included US lifting its naval blockade on Iran's ports in return of Iran restoring commercial traffic through the straight of formoose.

He's a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Kubchin, thanks so much for making time. Always pleasure speaking with you and let's start right off. US maintains that the strikes were defensive in nature to maintain the ceasefire. Uh in your understanding, in your appreciation, can strikes ensure the continuity of a ceasefire as fragile as this?
>> Well, in many respects, we're seeing both sides violate the ceasefire. And I think part of what's going on here is that these uses of military force are in the service of trying to put pressure on the other side to make a deal at the negotiating table. If either side wanted to go back to war, they have more than the needed excuse to do so. The official described the action as measured, purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire.

Listen to this.
>> Nobody's going to control it. We're going to watch over it. We'll watch over it, but nobody's going to control it.
That's part of the negotiation that we have. They would like to control it.
Nobody's going to control it. It's international waters. And Oman will behave just like everybody else. So, we'll have to blow them up. They understand that. They'll be fine.
The US president also denied reports that he was considering easing American sanctions on Thran or was willing to allow Russia and China to remove Iran's highly enriched uranium.
>> US considering easing sanctions on Iran to allow Iran to sell its crude to market?
>> No, we're not talking about any easing of sanctions, giving money, no sanctions, no money, no nothing. uh we have control of money that they claim is theirs. Uh we'll keep control of that money and when they behave properly and when they do what's right, we'll let them have their money. But right now, we're not doing that and it's not one thing is not contingent on the other.

Always a pleasure speaking with you. And let's start right off. US maintains that the strikes were defensive in nature to maintain the ceasefire. Uh in your understanding, in your appreciation, can strikes ensure the continuity of a ceasefire as fragile as this?
>> Well, in many respects, we're seeing both sides violate the ceasefire. M >> and I think part of what's going on here is that these uses of military force are in the service of trying to put pressure on the other side to make a deal at the negotiating table if either side wanted to go back to war. They have more than the needed excuse to do so. But the fact that the United States is going after a particular drone, a particular speedboat, a particular radar at a port in Bandur Abbas that suggests that this is more about coercive diplomacy.
>> Right, Dr. Captain. And now coming to the big headline. And of course, US President Trump has said that he's not satisfied with the terms of the deal as of yet. But he has reiterated that Thran is very much intent on agreeing to these terms, but uh agreeing to a u you know an agreement on the larger scale.
Charles Guption joining us here on World.
All right, breaking news coming in. The Trump administration has placed additional sanctions on Iran as part of an economic pressure campaign >> and this time targeting the country's newly created agency that is trying to control shipping through the straight of moose. The sanctions target Iran's Persian Gulf Strait authority and any person or entity which is cooperating with the agency that approves transit in the strait and charges to the latest development we're tracking for you. The Trump administration while negotiations are on sporad experts of violence being seen in the state of Hormuz.
Well, this according to a US official is the statement while the official tells Reuters that the military site a struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Bandas that was about to launch a fifth drone attack. The official describes the actions as a measure purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire. Well, this is what we are getting in as of now. The US military has say it has carried out new strikes overnight in Iran's targeting a military site and shooting down four Iranian one-way attack drone that posed a serious threat around the straight of Hormuz. Well, the official uh US official tells Reuters that the military side struck was an Iranian ground control station in Iran's Pandas that was about to launch a fifth drone strike.
>> Right. We're hearing from Iranian and US officials now that despite a fragile ceasefire, the US military carried out new defensive strikes inside Iran overnight targeting what officials say was a Iranian drone control station near the key port of Bandar Abbos as you mentioned and that's along the street of Hormuz. Of course, Bander Abbos is Iran's main military and shipping hub near the straight of Hormuz.
The military targeted an Iranian ground control station in Banderbas. That station was reportedly about to launch a fifth drone. Well, this follows the shoot down of four Iranian oneway attack drones that officials say posit formoose. Well, thank you so much Susan for joining us on the broadcast and getting us all the details.
