A creek bed nursery uses natural water flow to provide bottom watering for potted trees, reducing manual watering efforts while promoting healthy growth; trees are dug from winter storage, placed in the shallow creek bed where they receive constant moisture, and will be permanently planted in the ground during fall or winter once they reach sufficient size.

Creek bed tree nursery, big snap turtle visiting,Added:
Uh, you see this as snap turtle?
This is a creek bed I'm uh putting my uh trees uh that I dug out from the uh from the winter uh ground.
And I try to put them back into the by the creek so that they will continue to nursery uh to to grow.
Here you have the water on the bottom and the the sun is nice.
And I don't know why this uh turtle is joining here.
It's a snap turtle.
Snap turtle, come on. Go.
And uh so he likes this place. Anyway, so I was working here and uh went away to do some bamboo shoots.
Now he showed up.
He showed up here.
Should I let you go?
Should I let you go? No? Yes? Yes? Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
>> [laughter] >> Uh he just don't want to be caught by him.
All right, you can go. You can go.
So Ah, this is maybe the place he was actually staying. Who knows?
Anyway, so uh you see this uh flat bed area that uh played a crucial role in the summer for as a nursery place. I don't have to water it and uh I can focus on you know, having them grow. And last year I actually had uh 16 single stem birch.
And my wife bought uh 50 small uh crab apple.
So it's all here.
Uh I think I dug the 50 % of them out already.
So there's still about a 30 to go.
So, this bad area is going to come down to this side. And this is actually good for not just the you know, normally have water on the bottom, but also when I try to water them from top, it's very easy as well.
And so, um without this uh this smaller tree is a very difficult to keep them growing.
The birch I had when I got them is like a it's only about a feet and a half.
Now, they're as tall as I am. Although, they're still very thin. And I think what I'm going to do is I will um plant them in the ground permanently uh this winter. This fall. So, that will At least the 16 of them will be gone. And then the other one I'm going to see what I'm going to do.
Yeah.
