[00:00:00]You got to remember that. This time of year, we should be in the upper 70s across a lot of the South, but temperatures are so far below average, part because of the rain, but in part because of that cooler air mass in place. Saturday's highs in Wilmington, North Carolina only in the low 60s, and then we drop to the 40s overnight.

[00:00:17]Pretty nice recovery on Sunday to 70, but still below average. But, it's really interesting to see what brings the rain to Wilmington, North Carolina, how that evolves in the Northeast. So, we've got a disturbance coming through the Southeast, another one dropping in from parts of the plains and Midwest.

[00:00:35]Those two will combine We're going to see an area of low pressure form off the coast near the Carolinas. Look familiar? We see these kind of patterns in the wintertime, and it can lead to a nor'easter, which I think technically is what we have. It's just going to be rain and not snow. And luckily, it's just a glancing blow for us up here into the Northeast, but for at least a few hours, we're going to have some pretty unsettled weather across parts of New England, to say the least. Rain and some gusty winds. You'll see that mainly as you look at your Saturday into early Sunday timing up there. So again, some rain moving through the Southeast. That low really takes shape once it leaves that area. We still could see about 1 to 2 inches of rain though in the low country of South Carolina, in North Carolina as well.

[00:01:17]Wilmington, we just got moved into the severe drought category as of the latest drought monitor. So, things have continued to get drier and drier. We're running more than 6 inches behind in in the rain gauge bucket there. So, this is not necessarily bad news, but it's tough timing for your Saturday plans. If you had If you're planning to go downtown Wilmington, maybe check out the the market or just enjoying some of the festivities that are always ongoing in Wilmington, we've got rain in the forecast here pretty much throughout the day. And once we get into late night Saturday into overnight and then into early Sunday, here comes the rain and wind mainly affecting you in the Eastern New England out on the Cape.

[00:01:54]And my And mine, too. I mean, I've been to plenty Derby parties where you dress up and you got the hat or the fascinator. Well, the Oaks today actually you saw some rain threatening, but nothing Nothing in the area, and I think we're looking even better tomorrow.

[00:02:07]>> Yeah, you can see the forecast here. I mean, we get lucky with a forecast like this. Maybe it's not quite as warm as you might like it, but I'd say the horses and the jockeys probably don't mind these temperatures and the fact that it's not raining. The The track won't be muddy. So, it It looks good around race time tomorrow. Much better than other years.

[00:02:25]>> we have rain on about half the years that we have the Derby, so it's not uncommon. Temperature-wise, we we average actually actual highs in the mid-70s in Louisville this time of year.

[00:02:34]But, we've been as hot as 94, as cool as 47 for a high. So, obviously, we'll be below average, but not quite as cold as it could be. Yeah, so if you've got plans You know, I I would assume if you're going out, you're probably already there. You've been in the You've been in the spirit of of Derby parties for quite some time.

[00:02:50]>> planes that come in on the Saturday morning of the Derby. Really? Huh, who knew? If you had a Derby horse, what would you name it? Oh gosh, that's a tough question.

[00:02:57]>> we'll think about it.

[00:02:58]>> I like Incredible. An- Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, incredible. I think I like that one.

[00:03:03]>> Incredibolt. Incredibolt. Like a light- Like a lightning bolt. Like a lightning bolt. That's a good one. I don't know.

[00:03:08]Okay. Uh tomorrow, you can see you're across the region. Not looking bad in Kansas City and Des Moines, finally a bit of a break from all the activity we've had across this area recently. And more sunshine, too, tomorrow in the northern plains, and we do start to warm up here. Temperatures back to the mid to upper 70s. So, it's warmer, but we're not hot.

[00:03:24]>> Yeah, I mean, perfect I 76 and sunny, you can't complain about that. Little bit above average for this region, but I don't think anyone's complaining about that, either.
