The reviewer provides a sharp, necessary dissection of how this crossover sacrifices narrative logic for cheap shock value and unearned deaths. It correctly identifies that a provocative title cannot compensate for rushed pacing and a fundamental lack of respect for the source material.

Predator Kills The Marvel Universe Review (What A Waste)Hinzugefügt:
All right, so this is going to be my review of Predator Kills the Marvel Universe. This was sent to me by my friend Chris. Thank you as always, brother. And yeah, so um real quick before I go any further, I know some people have been asking, "Hey, when are you going to do a review of of Justice League versus Godzilla versus Kong 2?" Chris did tell me he's sending that, but it's being delayed and there's a chance it may not even come at all.
So, he'll have to like cancel it and send it again. So, yeah, that is coming.
Um, just not it's just kind of slow. And yes, there will be a review of TMNT Power Rangers 3 um soon once that book arrives. I know people are asking me when am I going to get them. Um, and this is not a knock on Chris. Let me let me state that right now. This is not a knock on him. This is more of a knock on the the postal service and the delivery system than anything else.
I hate you, Bezos. Anyway, um anyway, um but for right now, let's talk about the comic at hand. So, what did I think of Predator Kills the Marvel universe?
This is, of course, the end, quote unquote, end of Ben Percy's, uh Predator versus Marvel continuity. This is the culmination of his Predator versus trilogy, which was Wolverine, which I really liked. I think Predator Wolverine versus Predator is one of the best uh Predator crossovers that we've had in a long time. I Let's be real. Batman vs. Predator is the GOAT. Like there there is no way you can top Batman. There is no way topping Batman versus Predator.
But Wolverine versus Predator basically made us all go, "Yeah, that was pretty cool." Then came Black Panther versus Predator. And good god, I I didn't talk about this, I don't think, in this um in my review for Black Panther versus Predator, but um in that comic, I think it's the weakest first off. And it's mostly because I feel like Ben Percy doesn't know how to write Black Panther.
I don't even like how he writes them is very MCU. It's very much like he just watched the the um the MCU Black Panther movies and aped and uh aped off of that and copied off of that.
So that's what it really felt like. And I really I was really excited for Black Panther fighting Predator. I thought that was a really cool idea.
Yeah. Sorry, I lost my train of thought there for a second. But yeah, Black Panther versus Predator just felt like it did like Ben Percy didn't know how to write the character and that's what really bothered me cuz he's just doing the Yeah, he's just he's just doing the MCU version and it doesn't feel right.
Like there's no definitive voice. If this was like I swear if like Reginal Hud Hudland or Christopher Priest was writing that crossover, I feel like it would have been much better. Um, and then we had uh Spider-Man versus Predator. And Spider-Man versus Predator, I reread it and every time the artwork is great. There's some uh cool stuff, but I swear to God, it was clearly meant to be Craven versus Predator. I like I'm gonna I'm gonna copy off I'm gonna ape off of what um comic pop said and Sal's theory is that that was meant to be Craven versus Predator, but after how bad Craven the Sony verse was doing, Marvel is just like make it Spider-Man. So, and that's why it feels so like Spider-Man does nothing in the book except fight predators that aren't even um that isn't even the main focus predator. Like that's all Craven.
So that so it was okay at best. There's it clearly feels halfbaked.
So yeah. So I was coming into this book with some trepidation. So let's let's get into Predator Kills the Marvel universe.
Predator kills the Marvel universe.
Let's talk about the positives first.
This, of course, is the Yaoucha tribes coming together now with vibranium weapons and Craven is kind of like their safari guide in a way coming to Earth to hunt down the hunt and kill Marvel superheroes. And yes, this there are deaths. This is this title is not a is not a like uh punchline. It's not like to draw you in, but no one really dies.
No, characters die. And that's my problem with a lot of these Marvel Kills universes because like when these characters die it a lot of them in this book they don't die with any dignity and yeah dying by predators not it like sometimes you but there are some really undignified deaths like why is it that Cyclops just gets punked out like a [ __ ] Yeah. And there are other deaths in here where I'm like there's no way that works. Like there are literally deaths in this comic where I'm like, "Okay, that character clearly have survived that in this comic." And then there's other deaths in here where I'm like, "Yeah, that shouldn't work." Like um how they take out Thor. Yes, they do take out Thor and they do take out Hulk um in ways that just feel not right. And there are other deaths that are just offscreen. Cap. Uh yeah, Steve, Natasha, Clint, all of them get and yeah, this feels like a variant of the MCU. Like it feels like it's like the Predators went to a version of the MCU because we have the MCU version of the Avengers for the most part and a ' 80s version of the X-Men and a Steve Ditco version of the fant Stanley Jack Kirby version of the Fantastic 4. So, it's a very amalgam universe. It's a very like hodgepodge of of stuff. And clearly you know which characters Ben Percy really likes because there like the of course Wolverine uh Nightcrawler and you know Spider-Man which he does have a decent voice for Spider-Man in the most part but I don't I don't think Ben Percy is like would be a suited writer for Spider-Man. I think for team for like guest stars here and there, but like yeah, I also do think that like, you know, um I think he kind of wants to write Iron Man. I get this feeling that like Percy wants to write Iron Man. Um cuz he clearly has some reverence there for that character. But like um a lot of the car there's even like a scene that just makes me so mad because it doesn't make any goddamn sense. Like there's a scene where like we see She-Hulk, Daredevil, and Doctor Strange all strung up and dead. And like I'm sitting here going, "How did you kill?" Like She-Hulk doesn't make any sense. As much as you didn't kill Banner cuz it if if like how you the way they killed Banner, they should have done the same thing with She-Hulk. So, I feel a little like we're just saying Jen's not worthy of of a death like that.
But Doctor Strange makes no goddamn sense. That's the master of the mystic arts. And there's no way. Oh, predator weapons are enhanced by vibranium. Yeah, we've seen strange cast spells that nullifies vibranium. He should have been the heart. Like, how did the hell did they even get into the sanctum sanctorum? Yeah, we don't even see some deaths like Storm, um, Colossus, Kitty, they all die offcreen. And say, and also there's a death with Magneto that I'm like, they just kill him with a magnet.
Magneto with a magnet.
Okay.
Now, there are things I did like about this book. I know I'm I'm [ __ ] on it, but like there are things I like like how Hulk holds his own. Like they give reverence to the Hulk and when he goes down, but then like you also have Craraven himself. Craven is actually treated like a big threat. I do like that Craven is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains. And I know my friend Chris who did on social media talk about this book and how he thought he was good. Um, he was appreciative because for Chris Mal Vernon kid, that's his Craven is his favorite Spider-Man villain. So, I'm sure like he got he was happy that Craven gets to be like a major force. But by but also like and I'm going to talk about the length of this book. It's five issues. One, we get one more over the usual four issue crossover. And I still feel like this wraps up way too fast. I feel like this should have gotten at least a sixth issue. Like this should have been a six issue event because even with five issues, an extra fifth, there's really like it wraps up way too damn fast. Um, and that's been the problem with all these um Predator versus comics is that they just wrap up too fast. And I know like I talked about like that's a problem, but here's the thing. Jonathan Hickman's Alien versus Avengers had four issues and it kind of wrapped up pretty well. like given four issues. And I also heard the Captain America Aliens crossover, while it also had four issues, also wrapped up pretty well. I haven't read that cuz I'm waiting for trade on that one. But yeah, um it just feels like Percy writes too much of a grand sometimes Percy writes too much of a grandio story and it doesn't translate to just five issues. I haven't even talked about Predator X.
Like, yeah, Predator X is a is the uh through line of like Dr. Cornelius, the head of Weapon X, making his own Weapon X version of the Predator that he that he kidnapped from uh Predator versus Spider-Man. And yeah, that character just feels like you could have just cut him out entirely cuz he he provides nothing to the story other than taking out Craven. And they kind of tease of uh Ben Percy teases that maybe Predator X will be back hunting more of the Marvel universe. Yeah. I don't know what you have left. You've literally killed all but four s four or six superheroes. Um yeah. So I just kind of feel like we could have this Predator X storyline did nothing. Like all it did was uh kill Craven, like just have Craven killed off in a in a one-page fight that barely has Craven do anything. And on top of that, they build up this whole thing of like Spider-Man, I mean, um, Craven getting ready for a big fight with Spider-Man.
Yeah, that never comes. That plot line means nothing. Like, it's a once again a plot line that was teased in Predator versus Spider-Man and it was supposed to be a payoff here, but that never happens. Like, yeah, to see like Pred like Craven decked out in like Predator Gear and see him fight Spider-Man. Yeah, that never happens.
And I know someone's going to say, "Oh, but Spider-Man doesn't kill." Yeah, you could have still had the fight and you could have had Craven fight Spider-Man.
He beat Spider-Man still beats him with all the Predator gear, with all the Yaucha gear, and then he's dishonored.
He lost a fight, so he has to like off himself like in Craven. He could even use like a plaster c a plasac caster to his head to reference Craven's last hunt. He could just blow his own brains out with a plasac caster. That'd be a cool way to have like, oh, we're doing Craven's last hunt. Yeah.
So that's my problem.
Yeah, that's my that's my thing is that we have this whole buildup to many to all these different story lines and then it gets wrapped up way too fast in in the fifth issue. Um even the pre the Yaoa king in this story line like he's basically um uh an idiot. Like he they literally say he didn't pay attention to the ya to Craven's list of heroes. Uh he was more like a a general sending pawns to die.
I'm like there is no Yaoucha warrior like an elder or a ruler like that that would be that stupid. I Yeah, I know Ben Percy is like a massive I've talked to him and he's a clearly a massive fan of like the dark horse and the lore and you see it shine here, but I'm like that feels like a that I feel like we just wanted to end that story line way too fast. Also, Sue breaks the moon at the end. So, uh, good luck with trying to fix the world now. Anyway, there's some cool there's some decent stuff in here, but this feels like a waste. So, a lot of it is just shock value and a lot of it may and yeah, I get it. It's Predator kills the Marvel universe, but the fact of the matter is the kill should have been mattered more rather than just be shock value. That's my problem with these kill the Marvel universes is that they're more interested in seeing your favorite superhero go out like a [ __ ] most of the time than seeing them actually go down swinging. Like at least Hulk got to go down fighting. Um we don't see that with the X-Men. We don't see that with Captain America or Black Widow or anyone. Um yeah, Ben Percy clearly loves Wolverine the most out of every ex and Nightcrawler. Yeah, him. Yeah, Wolverine and Nightcrawler like Yeah. So, um, yeah, if you like Punisher, he doesn't even get a dignified death.
Someone's just wearing one of his just wearing his shirt. So, I would imagine if we do a sequel like the characters we didn't see bodies of, I don't think Moonnight was among the dead. I don't think he was. Um, but Moon, yeah, maybe Moonnight, maybe. Um, definitely Deadpool because again, Ben Percy loves Deadpool. though. I imagine if we get another one cuz again we do tease this whole thing with Predator X. Um I guess maybe Deadpool will be there.
Maybe Moonnight or Hunter Moon. Um I guess like Sabertooth maybe because again I'm going by like yeah the characters Ben Percy really likes to write. Um just a couple like yeah any character you didn't see on panel die. Yeah, they could he could easily retcon that maybe Frank survived and the Predator just took his shirt. Maybe. I don't know.
Anyway, this was just meh. The whole outside of Predator versus Wolverine is just me. In fact, if you really wanted to, I just like uh Predator versus Wolver Wolverine versus Predator is really the only one you want to read. the rest I feel like all like once it became a series once Ben Percy wanted to make from black from Wolverine versus black excuse me Predator versus Black Panther onward it just goes downhill like clearly this was a halfbaked idea that he that like uh if this was just separate continuity stories it would have been better and Predator kills the Marvel universe um just feels lackluster like I would have appreciated more if we had less characters being killed off screen or dying like a [ __ ] Um, and giving like at least give it an ex I feel like this should have been six issues, but even then I have that fear that maybe we don't get enough there.
Anyway, so yeah, sorry for this long review, guys, but I had a lot to say about this comic. Chris, I know you thought it was fine, but I I think Predator kills the Marvel universe does not live up to the title. It feels Oh, yeah. Yeah, the Guardians of the Galaxy also get taken out like just like idiots. Like okay, yeah, Gamora, the most dangerous woman in the galaxy gets one shot KO'ed.
And yeah, you could say, "Oh, the Predator snuck up on her." That should I've seen her fight invisible enemies.
Like, she should have said her and Drax should have immediately s I can't snap my fingers, but yeah, like that. They should have immediately sensed it, but whatever. I know I sound like I'm a goddamn power scaler, but like I feel like some of these characters get cheapshotted. I hate power scaling, by the way. It all depend. It fights win by how the writer puts it. So, um yeah, I just feel like um a lot of characters get [ __ ] killed in this comic. Anyway, so yeah, that's my review of Predator Kills the Marvel universe.
probably my longest comic review as of late. But you guys tell me in the comments below what did you guys think of Predator Kills the Marvel universe.
Uh Chris, thank you once again for the comic. And other than that, hope you all enjoyed this. I'm Mr. Multiverse. I'll see you next time in the multiverse.
