We head to the courts now where a three member panel of the court of appeal Abuja has dismissed the appeal filed by Julius Sabur challenging the leadership of the Labor Party. Justice Peter Lee of the Federal High Court had on January the 21st reaffirmed the earlier judgment of the Supreme Court that removed Abur as the national chairman of the Labor Party and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission Ink to recognize Senator Nadi Usman as the legitimate leader of the party to the exclusion of all others. Dissatisfied with that decision, Mr. Bur approached the court of appeals seeking to overturn the judgment of the lower court.
However, in the lead judgment delivered by Justice O Jaju Yumi, the Appalate Court affirmed the decision of the Federal High Court. The court further held the Supreme Court had conclusively settled the leadership dispute within the Labor Party when it nullified the convention that purportedly returned Abur as the national chairman. In the meantime, Mr. Abur has rejected the appeal court ruling on its leadership dispute, maintaining that issues relating to party leadership remain internal matters. He has also confirmed that the party has commenced legal steps to challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court.

The former governor is standing trial for alleged finance in crime and abuse of office by the independent corrupt practices and other related offenses commission the ICPC.
Proceedings at the Kaduna State High Court were short-lived as a presiding judge, Justice Darius Kobo, announced a new date for the continuation of ruling on the bail application filed by former Kaduna State Governor Mr. Nasser El Roofi.
Give it give it please. The former governor is facing multiple charges bordering on alleged financial impropriy and abuse of office filed against him by the independent corrupt practices and other related offenses commission.
Council to the defendant who had filed an application requesting the court to grant him bail arguing that Mr. Erui poses no flight risk and is willing to comply with any conditions imposed by the court to grant him bail. Hello.
Please leave the road. Please leave the road.
However, the prosecuting council objected by arguing that the former governor could interfere with the ongoing investigations if granted bail.
However, after listening to submissions, the presiding judge, Justice Darius Kobo, adjourned ruling on Erofi's bail application to the first week of June 2026.
The court in its wisdom decided that because um Nasi Urufa is a former governor, therefore he is going to interfere with investigation.
Therefore, he's not entitled to bail in an allegation of financial impropriy.
So we are grateful to his lordship for the learning that he has shown but we respectfully disagree from the beginning everything about Nasi Rufi's travails have always been political this is mainly the legal arm of it we deal with what comes they file papers we reply that's that's what the law requires us to do and that's what the law says they should do so um their papers don't don't have politics written on top of their papers they are legal papers so we reply to them >> security presence around the court premises remained noticeable while supporters of the former governor received the news of the adjournment with mixed reactions.
>> When we look at the situation the country is yes we can understand you know he is with the opposition but be that be is that a basis will that be somewhat you know uh a bit of an alibi to keep him uh in in custody. This is the third time that the court will adjourn the bill application of Mr. El Rufi who remains in the custody of the independent corrupt practices and other related offenses commission.
Members of the accord party loyal to Professor Chris Imumo are asking the independent national electoral commission in to recognize Professor Chris as the authentic chairman of the party. During a protest as the at the INC headquarters, the demonstrators claimed that they have a court order to that effect and questioned why INC chose not to obey the court order. Professor Chris and Barister Maxwell Budd have been laying claims to the chairmanship of the party and held separate primaries that produced two governorship candidates for the forthcoming ash state governorship election. Ink has also currently recognized Barister Maxwell and Buddh as it and his national working committee as the authentic leaders of the party.
>> This letter is addressed to the chairman of INC independent national electoral commission. This is a formal notice of illegal interference, abuse of process and demand for immediate compliance with court orders and recognition of duly elected leaders.
Yes, sir. We write to formally draw the urgent attention of the independent national electoral commission in to a serious and unlawful development threatening democratic structure within our party and undermining the rule of law.
>> My name is Professor Christo.
>> I'm the national chairman of this party.
But yet INC have not complied by the order that that that that was given by a competitive court. INC is under a con obligation to obey valid court orders.
If there is any claim that the court order have expired then the critical question remain why was it not obey why it was subsisting? Why? So what we demand from ING are follows. One immediate recognition of professor Christopher Imum as a national chairman in full compliance with subsisting court orders. Two recognition of all Julie state chairman with valid Congress and tenure.

During the fierce encounter, three brave soldiers paid the supreme price. The governor commended the troops for their bravery and resilience, noting that the military and other security agencies have made significant progress in curbing attacks through intelligence gathering and the elimination of threats.
>> Army has been the army and other state agents have been able to subdue most of the attack here through intelligence um information. they've been able to meet in the B attacks before they happen. So do those that happen are um are far and few in between from what they plan from the intercepts we get from the security agencies. Um most of the attacks are planned well in an audacious manner to um basically also demoralize the citizens to demoralize the military. But this isn't attack. Um civilians were not attacked and there was no kidnapping. It was just um a frontal attack against the military. Um and that is to show that they're getting desperate and they want to military to vacate the area. The area has been uncomfortable for them. But also what we see is that they're not in this state.
They're not in Guara state. They're in Niger. They cross the border, attack and go back to United States. They're not here at all. Um the army has secured our borders here. But I mean as you see the border is very wide and porous. Um the kangi forest reserve is size of Lagos state. So it's difficult to patrol, it's difficult to manage.

And the domestic equities market sustained positive sentiment for a second day as earnings continue to pour in. John Mcqua tells us more.
Good evening everyone. Welcome to the stock market report. Well, at intraday we saw the NGX in the negative territory. However, between the intraday and the close of trade, investors brought in 171 billion naira and that brought us back to the gaining momentum.
The all share index we see is closing at 0.07% in the green and we're sustaining the 218,000 level. And after bringing that 171 billion, we see the market cap holding on to that 140 trillion naira level. The drivers of this well are not those that you would normally expect because we see the Fugers and all of them in the red.
However, we have some gainers that contributed to that green color. NASCON is one of them. Union Daikon as well as WACO. Well, you wouldn't really expect them, but they are the ones who brought the green color. But we also have those who still experience a lot of profit taking today. Um, a Bay Building, Stand as well as Charms. But the good thing is at the close of the day, we still have the bull.
