[00:00:06]Reports from the Falklands say British forces are poised for the final assault to win back the islands following their capture of the settlements of Darwin and Goose Green. Press Association reporters said thousands of British Marines and paratroops were moving towards the island's capital Port Stanley with tanks and artillery in support. Correspondents reported the British troops had taken hundreds of prisoners and had captured the Goose Green airstrip which would be used by Harrier jets. Almost a thousand Argentine troops were stationed at Darwin and Goose Green. The two settlements give access to Port Stanley by way of a metalled road with drainage ditches.

[00:00:41]Argentine military sources later said British troops have taken up positions outside Port Stanley. The official government news agency explained the British advance by saying that after pressure there was always a reaction and this physical low had allowed the British to reach the outskirts of Port Stanley or Puerto Argentino.
