Jet engines require unobstructed airflow and proper fuel management to operate safely; using inappropriate fastening methods like zip ties in high-velocity airflow environments can cause catastrophic failures, as demonstrated when a $70,000 jet-powered vehicle caught fire due to debris being sucked into the engine, resulting in significant financial loss.

My 3,000hp jet car caught on fire. (F1 Build Part 1)追加:
Better get it off the road or you call the law. I live on this road and y'all a bunch of troublemakers for this road.
>> We're not making any trouble.
>> Yeah, I know. You start it up. I'm calling the law.
>> What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of F1 cars?
>> Like how fast they are, >> how slow they are.
There's a lot going on here, so you guys can get here fast.
>> Millions of dollars later, I've acquired my own F1 car. So, this F1 car is fresh from Monaco. They were going to use it in like the Grand Grand Pricks or something.
>> Grand Prix. It was in the Monaco Grand Prix.
>> So, that this is like one of those cars.
>> Wow.
>> Oh god.
>> This is great.
Let's go off-roading.
>> ALEX, >> I just wanted to yell that to to freak him out. He's not even running. You know, back when my estate was sold for $600 million, I bought um a yacht. I didn't even realize the F1 car was on the helipad. So, when I bought my helicopter, there was nowhere to land it. So, I had to get this F1 car out of the way. When I hit that patch of dirt, this scoop, I felt the car like slow down as it scooped up a load of dirt into the car.
>> Dude, you were hauling the ground. I just did that with no engine, no brakes, anything. Went all the way from the top of the driveway to the bottom here. No, that was great, though. So, that was the first rip in the F1 car. The steering is actually I like the steering now. It took a while to get used to, but it is so responsive. Yeah, it's like Formula 1 car steering.
>> It's so fun.
>> Can I go?
>> Um, no. We tend to save these things for professionals. I just have one concern about this and that is >> be gentle.
Ah, >> there's just one problem. The car does not have an engine. We have all these parts. It came with like the exhaust and >> that's it.
>> It's not missing that much. So, the engine would go right here and it's very sturdy. So, it's nice. We have this massive space to work with to put a new something in to get >> that big of a space.
>> We have a jet engine expert on site.
This is Robert.
>> Robert the jet engine expert.
>> He's going to give us a quick rundown on how to test this, how to run it so that we know how to run it. This is rocket science.
>> We've checked the thermalouple to make sure that our exhaust gas temperatures stay where they need to be. We've tested all of our safety features. Now we got to see if it runs properly.
>> Would you say it's like meticulous to start or is it pretty simple? They're very precise, but they're old pieces of equipment, so you need to uh be very precise in your metering of your fuel going in. This engine is probably 1970s vintage.
>> Jeez.
>> Imagine what they have now.
>> Once it's running, there's a uh there's a spot basically your idle RPM, and you can do whatever you want from there.
Hopefully, we don't screw anything up.
>> And the biggest thing is like having enough battery voltage cuz you run the batteries low, it spins slow.
>> Correct.
>> To put that in simple terms, the faster the jet engine spins on startup, the cleaner and smoother it's going to start. If it's spinning really slow, like we had low battery voltage sometimes on Monster Max, it would just dump like flaming diesel out the back and it would just burn it all up. How much is this engine worth?
>> Knew they were about a million dollar.
>> Really? To buy a used one now that's off of an airplane. 25 to 35,000.
>> Oh, so there is depreciation.
>> So we have 750 gallons of jet fuel for this. So we could burn that up in about a minute.
>> I'm handing out earplugs to everyone.
>> Thank you. Hey, Cody. What?
>> You have mops on.
>> Your mouth.
>> Oh my god, bro.
>> Robert operates and races Jet Draxers, so he knows what he's doing here. He actually helped us come up with this whole idea for this. That is Wow. You operate the starter?
>> Yeah, cuz there's no starter switch inside the car. That's the igniter switch.
>> We had to build this custom battery cart with all these batteries >> here for 36. There's like birds chirping outside and everything. I'm assuming he knows what he's doing. He's not exiting the building that way. There's no way out.
>> Back up. Back up.
That was way louder than I thought.
>> When the afterburner hit, that felt so good. It torch the epoxy.
>> I haven't hopped in it yet. Going to run me through the controls.
>> Cody, that's not how you get in at all.
>> Go that side.
>> So, you can operate it standing up. The human uh element of drag would definitely be a concern.
>> So, as I go in, what if my knee hits the red button?
>> It's going to activate the afterburner.
>> It only has brake pedals.
>> So, you got these buttons that actuate your electronics.
>> What is this?
>> That button there makes the smoke. With a jet car, everything has a backup. Like you saw with the the merrygoround, right?
>> I killed it. I killed it.
>> Oh, it's not stopping.
>> Kind of need a lot.
>> 1 2 3 4 5 six emergency shut offs.
Sounds safe.
>> And still accidents happen.
>> Yeah, I wasn't counting.
>> Accidents can happen though.
>> Yeah. I wonder why.
>> What if I'm driving and that happens?
>> That has happened before. And people have grabbed this.
>> Permitted for 305 m an hour.
>> All right, we have a round bail. So, we're going to torch this bail until >> nothing is left at all.
>> Who wants to hide behind the bail?
Oh.
Oh my god.
That was insane.
>> That was amazing. Wow. Our happy employees at work >> putting in the hours with a hope for one vacation day.
>> Watching his videos always made me feel sort of bad for his friends. Maybe it was just a bit for the video, but he always seems to be kind of like a to him.
>> It's like the Guang Dong steel mill in China. Most miserable job in existence.
>> Get that off the ground.
>> I have not driven this yet. Uh, the jet engine guy just left and he said it's just up to me to figure it out. I'm going to try to hit top speed going up the driveway.
>> No, you will not.
>> I should be able to operate it.
>> You pull the levers and then >> What do you do?
>> There's a lot It's a lot more complicated than that, honestly.
>> One second. My ride is here.
>> Holy.
>> Everybody ready?
>> Yeah. I'm ready to roll.
>> I'm so scared. So, what do all these controls do?
>> You should know this by now. So, I'm going to flip this on right now.
>> Yes.
MY BIKE DIED.
>> YEAH, BABY. LET'S GO.
>> OH MY GOD.
>> I'm buying five of these. We just got a bunch of rain, so I'm going to go mudding with it.
>> They're not meant for this.
>> This meant for mudding. If I get stuck, all I have to do is hit the afterburner and blow myself out.
This isn't good.
It's burning the ground.
WHOA.
DUDE, the tests were good the whole time. I never passed 70% throttle.
>> Oh my god, it's got more.
>> I got high centered right here really bad and I was like I was like, "Oh, someone could push me out or I could push me out." So, I throttled up and hit the burner. It was like a plane when it hit like 80 90% throttle when I was like getting out of that. When I was going up the path, it was like um the sound it almost muffles itself. It's so bad. Like >> that's when I saw the blue flame whenever you were going up it.
>> Maybe I'm using the after burner too much. I think so. You feel like I'm getting >> No, no, no, no.
>> That was like 30 gallons of fuel.
>> Crazy. All right. So, we're on the road with the Jet Dragster. I want to get really familiar with this thing. So, I'm going to go on a cruise down the road. We'll hit the afterburner a couple hundred times.
>> Instead of getting it off the road, I'm going to call the law. I live on this road and y'all a bunch of >> trouble makers for this road.
>> We're not making any trouble.
>> Yeah, I know you start it up. I'm calling the law.
>> We're starting it up.
>> I was just wondering if you was going to let me buy or not.
>> I was just telling them that thing here should be on the road.
>> Oh, I don't know. Like a damn rocket.
In case of emergency, Brady needs to know how to operate the 10,000 horsepower fully semi-automatic jet >> should be easy, right?
>> I actually don't remember how, but you'll figure it out. It's maybe, possibly.
>> There should be no like guessing though.
>> No, no. I know. I know 100% for a fact that it's maybe, possibly that lever.
>> You just said maybe and possibly after saying 100% known for a fact. Well, I'll figure it out, I guess.
>> Just whatever you do, don't hit the wrong one. There was our problem last time. It got 1,000° too hot.
>> Wait, what?
>> It's supposed to say at 7. We got to 850.
>> What if you didn't put enough fuel quick enough?
>> Guys, you're confusing me.
>> Just operate it. Hey, what's this red button you do?
>> Uh, don't worry about I don't know. All right, go.
>> It's so easy to run. It's like you just press smoke after burner and it lights.
>> So before we disassemble this jet dragster for the F1 car, I need to get as much use out of it as possible just for fun cuz it's going to get scrapped probably. The one thing that this is made for that they're not telling you at Jet Drasters RS. It's where everybody gets their Jet Dragster cars. What they don't tell you is that it is capable of climbing vertical slopes off-road.
>> They don't tell you that cuz it's not meant for that.
>> And it has an inch of ground clearance.
Watch as this wheelie flip backwards. Oh my god, it goes.
>> Yeah. Anyways, that's not going to happen, you idiot. It's very simple.
What I plan to do, I'm going to throttle up to roughly 6 to 700%. Open the valves twice the fuel you're supposed to do.
Hold the brakes until it starts pushing the car uphill with the brakes locked.
Then I'm going to release all that and quickly I should hit 12 to 1300 mph.
This is meant for like a very clean drag strip. And we're taking it up a dusty rocky like hill. Our mechanic team installed these shields to keep it from picking up.
>> That's not going to help at all.
>> In the event that a cameraman is sucked into the jet engine. Keep filming.
>> Oh, this is the last thing we have to do with this. So, I hope it's good. This is a million dollar brand new jet engine.
Was a million dollars new. Oh, also if it starts a fire, we did we did a test patch. It will burn the whole field.
>> Get some air in the tires.
>> It's actually the opposite of like typical off-roading. You want to air up?
>> I got a little pillow cuz it's hot.
>> So rough inside this. Even on pavement, it's rough. So, this is really going to suck. Should I strap in? No.
>> If it flips, I'll put my arms out to stop it.
>> Yeah. Well, like Jeep people do at >> Moab. Anyways, this is my suspension.
So, that's going in here.
>> Super dangerous. My only concern is all along here in case something goes wrong.
Every team like needs a fire extinguisher or two. They all need scattered evenly. I'll be able to kill the fuel right away if something goes wrong, so it should be fine. But the grass is likely going to catch on fire, but Brady and I tested it. It doesn't spread quick at all. I can stomp it out.
Put in my hearing plugs.
>> Hearing plugs?
>> Dude, they should make earbuds that amplify the sound around you.
>> Yo, those hearing aids.
>> They should call them earbuds. That'd be so much better. Hearing aids? When you're sick with a disease?
>> Oh, the pillow helps so much.
>> Bro, >> you got to do it.
>> This is going to suck.
>> Wait, don't go yet. Hold up.
>> Don't go yet.
>> It was nice knowing you, man. Not really at all, actually.
>> Does anybody have a jacket or anything?
>> Holy Cody.
>> Hit it. All right, hit it.
Oh no. Kill it. Kill it. Kill it.
>> What happened?
>> It pulled the plywood up >> into the engine.
>> Yeah, but not the whole way in. It's stuck.
>> Oh, that's terrible.
>> We're good. WE'RE OKAY.
>> WA. WA.
>> WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?
>> OH.
>> HEY. FIRE EXTINGUISHER. FIRE EXTINGUISHER.
BRAKES. BRAKES. BRAKES. BRAKES. BRAKES.
Stay on the brakes.
>> SPRAY IT NOW.
>> FIRE EXTINGUISHER.
>> NO. GET THE OUT OF IT NOW.
>> COME ON. UNDERNEATH. UNDERNEATH.
>> Spray it.
underneath.
>> Spray it. No.
>> I got to get out of here. GIVE ME A >> YOU CAN GET OUT.
>> IT'S GOING TO ROLL.
>> You're good.
>> You're good.
>> GIVE ME A WHEELCH.
>> GET OUT.
>> Go grab the fire extinguisher. That's it. That's it. That's it.
>> Fire truck.
>> Wheelch.
>> We need more now.
MORE NOW.
FIRE'S NOT GOING OUT. The fuel The fuel is just dumping, dude. The fuel is just pouring out of there.
>> It's done, >> dude. It's going to take the whole tank.
>> It's done.
>> Call the fire department. Tell the fire department. Go.
>> There's a lot going on here. So, if you guys can get here fast, I'm going to go ahead and open the gate now.
>> It's done. We just lost it, bro.
>> It's okay.
>> All right. I'll be at the bottom of the driveway waiting for you guys.
>> Look at how much fuel it's dumping, dude.
>> I'll be able to kill the fuel right away if something goes wrong, so it should be fine.
>> There's way too hot of a hot start.
>> It wasn't a hot start.
>> We need to get it out of the field.
>> How did this just happen again?
>> Told you, dude. Well, actually, the flyway is what us.
>> It sucked the floor in, bro. This I didn't even think of that. It pulled his zip ties up.
>> It's done.
>> It's rolled backwards.
Hold it. Hold it. Hold that. It's fine.
Let go.
The grass is likely going to catch on fire.
>> What's on fire?
>> Uh, it was a jet engine car. The fuel's leaking. It caught on fire. We tried controlling as much as we could without the fire extinguishers and it wouldn't do anything.
>> Hey, IT'S ACTUALLY SELF-CONTAINED NOW.
EXTINGUISHERS.
>> Get more. Come on.
Oh my god, dude.
>> Sorry for yelling at you, David.
>> In the heat of the moment.
>> Yeah. Well, we just lost $49,000.
I mean, it probably cancelled the fire department, maybe.
>> It's salvageable. Hey, >> it's not salvageable.
>> It would have been fine if it wasn't for the piece of wood.
>> It sucked the plywood in and killed all air, but you had all that fuel.
>> He used zip ties.
>> Yeah, it's fine. Don't blame him.
>> You don't need You don't need to find someone to blame.
>> I did find someone to blame.
>> Don't.
>> Hey, Nick. Oh, Nick, >> you owe me $50,000.
>> There's a fire in the in the chamber.
>> Oh my god. All right. Well, I guess we'll talk to them. Mission under control.
>> It was like pretty on fire and then we got it out and used like 20 extra.
There's another fire just going. It's unreleased.
>> In a grass field. They're like, "What is this? The fire?" No.
>> Five fire trucks, two cops. Yer was probably like a terrible disaster.
>> What did you tell them?
>> I told him what happened. I was down at the gate following me in.
>> There's a lot going on here, so you guys can get here fast. Fuel's leaking. It caught on fire.
>> So, I'm running the dirt bike down. They all stop over here for this fire. I'm like, "No, >> that one's unrelated."
>> I just told him I was like, "We have a car that's on fire and fuel's leaking."
>> Say it exactly the way you said, "Can we get a car on fire?"
>> Yeah, >> I knew like two cop cars, five fire trucks.
>> Dude, the FBI was out here. CSI rolling down and I'm like, >> John, do you guys need a fire extinguisher?
What the? He had a fire extinguisher. I watched him and Brady watched him stand there. You stood there. You told me to film for a little bit and then come down.
>> NO, NO, WE'RE ON FIRE.
>> Keep filming.
>> Oh, >> you had the only fire extinguisher and then you fell on your face.
>> I I did roll. Hey, at least you can't say I wasn't hauling ass down the hill.
>> Hey, Nick, we need to have a chat.
>> My friend, what point do we need zip ties?
>> I'm pretty sure it's the driver's responsibility to turn the fuel off.
>> I turned the fuel off first thing. That was immediately what I did. But there was a lot sitting in the afterburner and leaking. I want everybody to know that for the first time ever, nothing at all was my fault. It was all Nick's fault cuz he used zip ties to fasten down.
>> That was your idea though.
>> It was my idea. But you chose to use >> I said I could just zip tie it on there.
They're like, "Yeah, that sounds good.
>> Look at this. This is horrible." I heard that happen. I'm like there's no logical reason.
>> Yeah. I didn't know what happened.
>> That sound was just like >> and it just killed it immediately. I tried throttling up again. I was like, >> "Oh, that's where all the fuel came from." Ah, >> soldier out, bro.
>> You're right. I was like, why is it not running? I remember that now.
>> You know the >> sounds about right.
>> I actually think the engine is fine cuz I think this killed air flow immediately. Let's start it up.
>> There's literally holes in every fuel line on it.
>> I actually genuinely think cuz this is made for high heat.
>> You could literally just replace fuel lines and it should be fine.
>> I think so. Everything has aura now.
>> It does look sick. We can't paint it.
>> No.
>> You're welcome.
>> Thank you. Well, Nick, if you can fix this, I'll back up.
We'll do another run in 10 minutes.
>> Oh my god. You can't even blame Nick.
>> I would have made it, too. I'm going to do it again with the next car we have.
Holy. Good luck stopping.
>> It runs him over, bro. It was It was running so good.
>> He thought zip ties were going to hold the 7 trillion suckage of air going through.
>> Thrust. Thrust.
>> All right, whatever. Uh, we'll get it cleaned up. So, my goal is to get this running completely by myself with the help of Tyler, who will be doing it all.
>> All of it. Uh, if you're not aware, this is Tyler here, our like mechanic.
>> I built the thinnest street legal car.
>> This is my top secret kilowatt class laser robot. We have our 800 lb permanent rare earth magnet on a crane barge.
>> Yeah, we just need this like F1 car running.
>> Yeah, normally these motors are like 700,000 for just this part.
>> I take that back. We need it running faster than it would normally ever go.
>> 214 mph >> is average. So like 500. I haven't actually seen one of these in person before, so we're going to have to like disassemble it to its last part. Check out the differential, the axles, make sure they're chromoly hardened, 300 m shafts, high voltage EV battery pack, carbon fiber.
>> I don't know what that is, but thanks.
Oh, Tyler, one more thing. We did get you some stuff to do it.
>> Oh, an engine. So, it's like um there's like whatever you could need.
Really?
>> None of this is going to work.
>> You said something the battery system.
There is a battery. That's like a toxic hazard.
>> Oh, shoot. This is actually off of my truck.
>> Stop. Give that back.
>> This is just a box of scraps.
>> Tony Stark did this cave with a box of >> That didn't actually happen.
>> Oh, but one more thing just to help with the process.
>> We do have a fully operational fighter jet powered drag car to use for the build.
>> Okay. So, it's good to go.
>> This engine you want to put in that?
>> Whatever you need. Notice anything weird?
>> Um, it looks like it was recently involved in a fire of some sort.
>> No, this is exactly how we got it.
>> So, you got it like half off cuz it's all burned up probably.
>> No, we got it fully on.
>> It looks really rough. Actually, >> haven't used it yet.
>> You want to put this in the F1 car.
>> We were going to do that if it works still. There is a problem with the fire.
It's hard to explain.
>> It caught the fire. That's not >> I wouldn't say it caught >> I bet you probably caught it on fire, didn't you?
>> The fire caught on to it.
>> This was definitely your fault.
>> Listen, we just we just need Can we stop with the Stop with the music, please?
>> Why is there a band here? So that we can have like some audio.
>> You know, you can like use a speaker, though.
>> Just add it in later. I didn't think of that.
>> Why is there a Please supply one in there?
>> We covered it to keep birds out.
>> That was a problem.
>> What? I was trying to protect it actually and I suggested that Nick should put plywood on the floor to cover from dust cuz we're doing a hill climb.
>> Oh, what?
>> Whenever I throttled up to 100%, it sucked all the wood in.
>> Oh my god.
>> There's so many things wrong with that sentence that I can't even begin.
>> I was like, that's weird, but maybe it's out of fuel. So, I tried throttling up again. It dumped a lot more fuel into the back and then that fuel started a fire and then it may have rolled down the hill. The fire was mostly contained from like here to maximum maybe here.
>> That's the whole engine.
>> Have you done a turbine inspection yet?
>> We have looked at it. Yes.
>> All right. Hey, everything looks fine.
>> No major damage.
>> That being said, move that engine into that car.
>> So, this is a J85 jet engine. It weighs the same as an F1 powertrain. So that's going to go from here all the way back to like here.
>> I think this is going to work really good.
>> I think it's going to work great.
>> That's good on the music. Thanks, guys.
>> Yeah, we'll just have to go over like the details for the wiring.
>> Thank you. That's good.
>> And then budgets as far as you know the >> budget. We have not gotten a chance to talk about the budget yet. All right, let's let's pack it up, guys. Come on.
I'm I'm done.
>> Sorry about this. Uh >> pack it up.
