Create Aeronautics is INSANE!Added:
I don't want to alarm anybody, but after 5 years in development, Create Aeronautics has finally released. This may be the greatest day ever. Oh my gosh, look at all these blocks it adds in. I don't even know where to start.
That's a lie. I know exactly where to start by making a plane.
It's nothing fancy yet, but this is going to be the base of my plane. So, the first thing I need to do is make this into a physics object, which I'm pretty sure I do with this physics assembler here. But first, I got to glue all this stuff together. And obviously, I got to use the honey glue from Simulated, the fancy new type of glue.
And then hold and drag to assemble.
Oh, that's so cool. Now that it's assembled, I'm pretty sure I can just break this. And then before I start making this into a plane, I want to try one thing. So, I'm pretty sure now it should be two separate objects. Yes. And then if I use slime ball here. Slime ball. Oh, and it goes back into wood.
That's so cool.
Wait, I'm getting distracted. I'm getting distracted. But I have to try this out. So, we hold, we drag. This one's assembled now. And then if I go here and wait, I can't. Why can't I connect it? Oh, it's out of range. Yeah, that's no problem cuz I got the creative physics staff, which also looks awesome.
And then can I Oh. Oh, it's so cool. I don't even want this on my plane. I got to break these apart again. But that's so awesome. I'm pretty sure if I pick this up and then left click. Yeah. Oh, it even tells you it's locked in the Oh, it's so good.
Okay, it's locked in the air. Now I can start making this into a plane. It looks like there's a whole bunch of different kinds of propellers, but I'm going to go with the OG propeller bearing and then some sails along with it. So, I need the propeller bearing down first. Then I'll use a stripped oak log and we can get a couple of these sail blocks going around the outside. There we go. I'm just going to assume all these need to be glued together here. And now for power, we have Oh, I forgot I can't do that anymore.
Don't worry, guys. I'll fix it. I'll fix it. It's fine. We'll put the red portable engine here, maybe. And then I can flip it around. And then I can glue the back of this onto there. Oh, it's so It's so good. If I fuel this, does it work? Oh, it works. But it's spinning in the wrong direction. I think it's going to blow it that way if I drop it, right?
H.
Yeah, that's not really what I was looking for.
This is so stupid.
But it works though. It's working. It's doing something and it's not breaking, which is a great sign. All right, let's let's fix that. I'm pretty sure some temporary landing gear to lift it up a bit. Should fix that. And then we can see the controls with this are so wonky. But there we go. So now I can drop it. Yes.
Yes. Now it moves. it. Not exactly the way I was hoping, but it moves.
And I can flip this here and it should make it go forward. Oh, and you can even see you can see the stats of how much thrust and air flow it has. That's awesome. Oh, this is going to make me sick. Oh no.
I made some modifications and I superheated the engine. So, let's see how this works now.
Oh yeah. Oh, now we're cooking with gas.
The particle effects for it are so awesome, too. Okay, problem one solved.
It can move. Now we got to get it in the air. It seems like the regular windmill sails are used for the wings, and then the symmetric sails are used to produce drag for controlling the plane. So, I'm going to want to replace the going to take some getting used to. Uh, I'm going to want to replace that with some regular sails here to act as wings.
And then I can reattach this. Oh, it's out of range. You know what? I'm just going to place it back down right here.
So, that'll just go there.
I have no idea how many wings I'm going to need, how much lift they generate, but there's only one way to find out.
So, we put the seat down here, and then I can reassemble this. And what happens?
H. Well, it's not flying, I'll tell you that much.
Okay, take two. Does it work?
Uh, okay. The back is lifting up, but the front is not. And now we're spinning out.
Okay. It needs more wings in the front.
H. Uh, it appears while testing stuff I have ended up in the ground.
Huh?
Okay, it took tons of modifications to this and it's not it's not going super fast, but I finally got it flying at this really weird angle. But you know what? Once it gets up here, it's really smooth. I don't want to be using a creative motor in the end, but I got it working. And we're just we're just kind of cruising down. Okay. You know what?
Okay. Okay. Aeronautics, I see you.
This looks so funny. That's a good start. Now it's time to fall right out of the sky. And I'm in the ground again.
Wait, what?
It breaks stuff.
What?
Oh my gosh, that's crazy. Okay, I'm making a plane. We don't have time to mess around with that right now, but that's crazy. Oh my god. Okay, I've spent so long trying to figure out how to add ailerons and elevators to this plane so I can control where it's flying. And I may know how to do it now.
And it all centers around this block, the torsion spring. You guys better be ready for this cuz it's so complicated.
So the torsion spring can have a max angle set on it all the way from 360° to 1. So let's just say 45° here. And if it gets rotational power, it'll turn up to that. And then when it goes away, it turns back. So I'm pretty sure this plus a mechanical bearing is how we'll be able to control those. What are they?
The symmetric sail blocks. So if these are down in front of it, then we can turn them 45° one way, 45° back to create drag to turn it either left or right.
Oh, that's right. This needs to be set to only place when it's destroyed. So there we go. It turns that way. And then if this were to be reversed rotation, it turns the other way. So this is a big win right here. Uh it's kind of simple enough, but the minute you need to start having all the controls on the plane, I have a bit of a fear that it's going to get way bulkier and more complicated.
I think this is going to be what I do for maybe the ailerons on the front because the direction is reversed. So if I disable the redstone signal to the clutch, they're getting rotational power and they turn opposite directions. And then if I gear shift them, they flip the other way. So it would be like this would be to turn the plane to the right, I think. And this would be to turn the plane to the left. And then it it needs to be something like this in the back as well, except the rotation needs to be in the same direction. Okay, it's time to try to put this on here and make it work.
I What? I don't understand why. How why did it just crumble into like a million different pieces? Oh, it's because this connected to all of these and then it just ripped every powe.
That's not what you want to see. My bad.
Look at this five head move. I've added the support here so when I go and break this stuff, it doesn't fall apart. So now I can place down the gear shift and the clutch and it stays together. And then I can get rid of all this. Bam.
Oh. Uh, that was the wrong side.
Okay, wait. This is a good sign. Uh, I have concerns that now I'm going to be flipping the rotation of the propeller in the front, but I'll deal with that later. So, this would disable it, which would also make me fall right out of the sky. But, if we ignore that, if I flip this, yes, they go the other way. We're making progress. So, I I think I have the controls up here. I just need to test if these actually work properly to turn it left and right as well.
Yeah, look at this bad boy. Now, we got so much stuff going on here. My brain feels like it's mashed potatoes right now. But uh I installed create connected so I could get the inverted clutch and also so I can get the brass gearbox. So in the back here now I have the clutch which lets these both rotate and because it has the brass gearbox they're going in the same direction. And so it would be this is how we would make the front go up and this is how we would make the front go down. And then in the front here we have the same setup except with the inverted clutch. So now when it's powered, it lets these start going. And this would be to turn to the right. And this would be to turn to the left. So it works really well in theory and with levers. I just need to try to link all of this stuff. And I think I have to just use regular redstone links because drive by wire is not updated yet. I'm in danger.
H I'm pretty sure I found a bug with the redstone links on the contraptions. If I try to make anything move, it doesn't work. But it is the correct frequency since this is the same one right down here. And if I set this to receiving, you can see the one down there gets a signal and these don't. I also have the redstone link wildcard option disabled from create connected, which is usually the problem with these. So based off what I've read in the Discord, this is a bug with create connected. So, I think I have to get rid of the regular ones and then either use the modulating linked receiver or the directional one. And these each have their own features. So, I don't know which one I'm going to pick. Maybe I'll just try the directional one. And I think this should work. Yes. Okay, it works. I don't think it'll break anything else. And does it?
Yep, it still works up here. So, I guess that's the fix right now is just replace all of these with the fancy directional linked receivers.
Oh, that was a that was a terrible call because they're directional. They actually the devs did a great job. They work perfectly where now the top ones detect it and the bottom ones don't. And when I come down here, the top ones don't, but the bottom one does. Okay, maybe the modulating linked receivers will work hopefully.
And these settings are minimum range and maximum range, but I'll always be within 64. So, I think I just need to set these. I'm going to set it down to one.
And then I think these should work. I hope these work. So there we go. That would be to go up in the front and that would be to go down. So they do in fact work. Oh, saved. The build is saved, guys.
I'm really hoping the plane is good to fly now. I've made a ton of modifications. I added the vertical stabilizer in the back using the symmetric sail so it's not rotated all over the place. I think it's all good to go. So, it is time for the final test flight hopefully. Wait. Oh, I didn't even know that when you're in the free cam, you can zoom in and out. Oh, that's so good. If you're just scrolling in and out. Oh my gosh. Okay, I hold shift to start it.
We are in the air. Yes, the elevators in the back work.
Yes, the ailons in the front work.
Yes, it's so good. But it's got a little bit of extra lift in the front. So, I got to keep using the elevators to control it. But it's so good.
And the sounds are so cool, too.
Oh, I can't believe I actually got it to work. The aileron and elevator system is so much more complicated with this than previous mods for it, but it's really rewarding once you finally get it to work. Wait, can I do a loop? Can I do a flip in the air? Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Oh yeah, that's awesome.
Oh no. Ah, man. Down. You know what?
Before I finish up with this plane here, the landing gear is definitely looking pretty weak. Even though the devs definitely acknowledge that grindstones are used as landing gear because they made them slippery so they can slide on the ground. But they also added in a section with a wheel mount and a bunch of different tires. So, I really want to test these out. I don't know which size tire would be the correct one for the plane, though. So, if I put a wheel mount right here and then I can just put the tire right on it. How do I How do I get the tire off? What if I don't want this tire right? Okay. Well, what about the regular small I think the small tire is a little bit more appropriate here.
Oh, you can't place them on their own, though. It has to be placed on the front of a wheel mount. So, unfortunately, you'd have to put it like this in the back, which doesn't really look great. I don't know if there's a way to make this a singular wheel, but I'm not I'm not seeing it on here. It just rotates it.
Maybe they can add that. That would be really cool. Either way, you can still use a grindstoneone in the back at least. Yeah, that looks good. I like that. And then, oh, there's the setting.
It's on the top for the suspension strength. What if we we crank it all the way up? It doesn't really do much, but Okay, here it's a little bit bouncy. So, I feel like 10's probably good. The suspension doesn't need to be super stiff for this. Yeah, this is awesome. I still got to make the landing gear working. That'll be a future thing. Uh, but the plane is super cool. It works really well. It's a little bit more complicated to make it work than previous ones, but it's really rewarding. Okay, that's awesome. Now, let's see if I can land it this time.
We're not going to crash landed. Here we go. Come on. Steady. Steady as she goes.
Here we go. Here we go. We're watching it. Yes. I mean, can you really hope for anything better than that?
Everyone on the plane lived. So, the plane is like onetenth of all the stuff that aeronautics or creates simulated offers. I also want to take a look at the hot air envelope and hot air burner.
I just need to make a quick little hot air balloon here, which at this point I should be an expert at.
If I glue all that together, then I can put the assembler on there. And Oh, there we go.
Yo, maybe maybe we cut that out.
Yeah. So, this is like the most basic hot air balloon that any human being could make, but it should do the trick because we're going to fill this area up with hot air. And I'm pretty sure I just put the hot air burner down here. Oh my gosh, it actually lets you set the the exact Well, it's increments of five, but the exact cubic meters of hot air output that you want. That is crazy. I assume I just need to get some coal to power this. I can't right click it in there.
Do I need to like hopper it in? Wait, you know what? We play create. We use the chute. Although the chute is going to go directly above it. No. Am I an idiot? Don't answer that. There's no way. It needs redstone and fuel, right?
Wait, why? It It doesn't have fuel. I didn't give it fuel. Does this not need fuel? If I crank this up, will I get in the air?
I didn't even give it fuel. Why does this not need fuel? Okay, so it's telling me that the balloon is essentially full right now. And I assume it's going to eventually cap out at how high up it brings us. This is awesome, though, with Distant Horizons. What if I bring this down? Oh, I think we're stabilized. That's awesome. So, it does stabilize you where it kind of like equalizes with the amount of lift that we have and the air pressure around here. Man, they thought of everything. I think they also Yeah, they have an altitude sensor. So, if I slap that down right here. Okay. Yeah, we can see the height and the air pressure. Man, they thought of everything. That stuff is crazy. Although, I think I'm sinking down because I added weight to this. And if I increase the strength by one, will it bring us up at all? No. Oh, right.
Because it's based off the size of the balloon. So, this is going to be the max height that we can get to with this size balloon. 213.54.
And then if I come out here and let's say I make this stupid and yeah, it's gonna I get it. It's going to sink for a second. It's Oh, it's sinking a lot.
Just put me on top of it. There we go.
If I get there and then I go inside. Oh, and I break these. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep.
Yep. Take me up. Take me up. Now it's going to fill back up. The volume is greater. And I believe the height we should go to should be higher. Yes, we passed it. It was 213 before. If you want to go higher in the air, you need a bigger balloon so that you can go up to a lower air pressure. If I reduce this to nothing, do we just fall right out of the sky? I wonder how long it takes for the hot air in here to start dissipating. It still has Oh, dude.
There's no way. I'm an idiot. I'm pretty sure this altitude sensor is giving off a redstone signal powering the burner.
Oh, that's that's definitely what it is.
It's Yeah. Oh, and now we're going down.
That's awesome. Wait, can you you can use this then to maintain you at a specific altitude really well because it can turn off and on the burner. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I think I should land at 168. I should stop going super fast at 129 and then slowly make my way up to 168. So, the gas output should start decreasing.
Yes. Yes. Oh, and then I think I'll oscillate between those. It'll take me up until it starts dissipating and then I should oscillate between cuz it'll kick it back on. Oh, you can make it like an actual airship. Like it's bobbing. Yes. I want to see it from the outside. It looks a little silly cuz of the size. It goes up and then it comes back down. Oh, it's so good.
>> A few moments later.
>> All right, final test. I want to see how high we can go. And also the visuals for this get insane when you crank it all the way up. Look at this thing. I found out a super cheaty way to make the hot air balloon go up insanely high. Here we go. 290. Yep. We're getting up there.
Air pressure is getting low. Oh, is this where we cap out? Okay, it's way higher.
We're way up here. You just got to make your air balloon look like that. Okay, I made the plane. I did the hot air balloon. These are so basic. It's barely scratching the surface of this mod.
There's so much more to do, but I it's it's awesome. It was well worth the wait.
