This discussion provides a clear, evidence-based justification for extreme quarantine measures that often seem excessive to the public. It effectively bridges the gap between complex virology and the harsh logistical realities of international travel safety.

Clio Joins Us After BBC & RTÉ Coverage of Tenerife Cruise Ship DramaHinzugefügt:
Ladles and jelly spoons. Tim downfield for living with MSE Tenneref. Here we are in our favorite spot at the moment on a Wednesday, which is the uh Terasanolo. We're just going through the uh the card here and deciding what we're having. I think I'm going to go for I'm going to go for a starter of um Gambas alo garlic prawns and sardinas alapanche grilled sardines and Chris might be going for the chicken breast and the croettes of chicken as well. Yeah, cool dude. So before we do that >> some ioli. You going to get pan with ioli or something like that or just a portion of ioli?
>> Here's Chris.
>> She's she's at my right today. Cleo will be joining us soon. Let's see if I can turn it this way.
Yes, I can. There we go.
Uh, let's come back to me. It is midweek meet up.
And here we go, ladies and jelly spoons.
Let's see if we can get Chris in the picture while she's still presentable.
>> Be totally gum.
Well, you can't get drunk on this, can you?
>> We got Soland Deabas water. That's pretty cool.
So, Chris, um, I'll put this on you just so you can talk until Cleo comes cuz you know Cleo's like, she's like the female Webby. Hope she's not watching.
She's been uh Cleo's been with RTE and BBC and she'll tell you all about it because she is the independent uh journalist that that does the English language versions of what's going on with the virus ship. So, you're going to wait till after 6:00. She's just having a rest. She just finished and she's going to have a bit of a rest. Then, she's going to saunter down halfway through. So, we said we'll start and uh she can come in and then we'll get an update from Cleo and then we'll order the food and when the first food arrives, we'll finish. So, let's see who's on and whether you can hear me or not. I think you can hear me. Uh don't forget the count. You're watching timothy dow.com.
Don't forget if you want to join us, you can go to timothydow.com/events and join us any week uh either Wednesday or Friday or for a walk Monday through Friday. And if you want to join us on Monday on the podcast, which is a bit more serious and it's getting a lot bit more traction, um, or if you want to suggest a topic, go to timothy.com/live.
There you go. Ladles and jelly spoons.
What we got? What we got? What we got?
People coming in and commenting.
Commentarios.
There we go. Right. Who was first?
Adam's first. Hi, Adam.
Adam >> and we got evening Tim and cool dudes dudets Christine and Tim managed to put two lives left and right side on top of the other live screen squashed. Oh dear. Squashed but watchable. Is my live stream squashed? Hope it isn't.
I'll just check my live stream. There we go. Upcoming Terasanolo with Cleo and the saga. It looks okay with me. And it looks like the CC's are on as well. I have remembered. I'm going to take a slick look at this. It's my favorite beer. And Manola got it specially for me.
Oh, that's cool. Chris Jones is on.
Ivonne's on. Dane's on. Hi, Dane. Hope you're both keeping well. We are. Me and my family are all fine, too. That's good. And weather hasn't been too bad in Aberin. That means uh 10 degrees, right?
And sunny. Katherine's on. Cleo, Carney Fiesta, please. Okay.
Um it's on us today, by the way. So, we're going to have Carne Fiesta and a bottle of wine. And if you want a starter, you can have a starter as well.
And uh it's not actually on us, it's on you because not you, Cleo, you guys.
because you guys have been great this week and you have contributed through the Revolute card in the timothydow.com/sponsor and you've contributed enough that I can invite um Cleo who's had a a a hard day.
Um we we've got we we've got enough and we've saved enough up to be able to pay for Cleo's meal as well. So, thank you so much for all you guys >> that contribute there. And don't forget you guys that uh that uh watch the adverts, you're doing a good job as well. So you don't have to send us money.
>> Say again.
>> Going to enjoy my wine today.
>> You're going to enjoy your wine today.
Do we need two bottles then? Do we >> need another bottle of wine?
>> If I enjoy doesn't mean I need more people.
>> Yeah, I've got to we got to be careful with Cleo, you know. Hey, bang, bang, bang, bang. She's guzzling.
But for her, it's a school night, so I'll I'll just tell her that you a school night. Don't go don't go crazy.
My favorite starter every time. There you go. Evening, Tim.
Jimmy's on. Shirley's on. Amarie, thank you, Amarie, for all your wonderful moderation there and your good friendship. It's nice to hear you this week.
and Shirley uh saying hi to Katherine Craig say everybody Christopher Cunningham from Virginia see you in June my friend unless of course you can't afford the flight anymore or your flight gets cancelled because of all the uh all the things I've looked into that by the way and um a lot of the left wingers are going oh it's all doom and gloom and a lot of the right wing are saying ah it's okay and I don't know who's going to who's to tell you the truth. So, we might get into that later, but uh from all the sources that I've looked at, there is a shortage of jet fuel and certain uh flights may be cancelled, but I think they're saying that the chartered flights and the ones that are sort of like with um hotels involved or something like that, they should be okay. And nobody's talking about a search charge at the moment. So hopefully, cross your fingers. Charlie's on. Do you think it will be Tenneref rejecting the ship because Tenneref is a big cruise port, doesn't it, Tim? You know, if it we'll let Cleo say it, but as far as I can gather, they're allowing it to dock in Granada, which is not the capital city, and then they're going to transport the people directly who need to go to um to Candelaria for treatment in the hospital. The the the doctors are waiting there. Um, the rest of them, I think, um, well, we'll let we'll let Cleo say, but I mean, from what I can gather, I don't think they're going to send them home on on tourist planes. I think they might repatriate them some some other way or I don't know. I really don't know. So, let's wait till Christine comes. But basically, the Spanish government have said to the World Health Organization, >> Cleo comes. Christine is here already.
>> Did I say Cleo? Did I say Christina?
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, Cleo, I meant >> Christina's here. I'm so glad you are.
>> And um yes, I don't know how they're all going to get home, but Cleo should have more. But she did say the story is changing every 5 minutes. So, if you listen to her in the morning, she had more information at lunchtime on BBC and then more information in the evening.
So, um we'll wait to see what the latest and greatest is. But um it's the local government that are complaining that the Spanish government did the deal without informing or getting their opinion. So it's become a political football. So it's not really to do with the people's health. The people's health obviously comes first.
Uh but there is a sort of a bit of you know what polit you know politicians do.
try and get some some uh points from each other. So, but don't worry, the people who are sort of uh in charge of the um of the health stuff is all they're all ready. They're all ready.
So, I think they're I think they should be arriving up to now the ETA's Saturday. So, we'll see what happens between now and Saturday. Whether Granadia is going to be the port or whether they're going to go straight to the capital or whether they'll come to the south, I don't know.
I don't know. Uh, Shirley all over the news here too.
Louise Parks is on. Gary Taylor, Chris, hope you and Christine do. We are. Thank you. John Patton, uh, David Bala, Eugene McGiver, smasher one. Now, Adam was saying, "What is the cruise ship and how does it spread?" you know, um, it usually spreads from rats, but they have found a human to human strain, but I don't know how it's passed. I don't know whether it's through touch, through the air, or through liquids, but I'm sure um I'm sure Cleo will know.
Sound a picture. Great. CC's are fine, says Craig. Thank you very much. Uh, Eugene and Green's Adventures are on. Uh Dave Moridi, Trish is on.
What's the cruise ship hand of you?
Okay. Yeah. Um got to wait for Cleo.
Kevin Davis.
Can I get the field trip?
>> Yes, my darling.
>> Thank you.
>> Uh Brian's on.
Uh Louise, of course, David, Craig, Allan's homemade vlogs.
Hope you're enjoying yourselves up in the Kingdom of Trune. Nigel, when we come over next week, we'll definitely try that place you're in. Looks fab. It is really good actually. I mean the um it's a quite a quite a I don't want to say oversea bar. How do you say that?
>> It's quite a good menu.
>> So uh Okay, this is this is the English one. So you basically got breads and salads and then you got this long line of sort of tapas right that they call to share wrinkly potatoes, saute potatoes with garlic and rosemary. I want to try that, but I don't want to waste fill myself up with potatoes if it's a big plate. I'll see what see if Cleo will share it with me cuz you get chips or potatoes with the main meal as well. Uh, padron peppers, black pudding, meatballs, broken eggs with churitzo, pork crackling with goofio, fresh Canarian cheese with mo sauce and roasted red pepper jam, charitzo crockett, chicken crockett, Iberian ham crockett, garlic prawns, garlic mushrooms, and then you got a cheese board and Iberian acornfed ham board. And we had the cheese board last time. It was pretty good, wasn't it? A lot of cheese. Lot of cheese. Uh then they've got the Canarian selection which is scolded Gfield which is a bit like a um it's that one there I think in the corner and then they got the Canarian fried chicken. They got the rabbit in Salareo.
They got ribs, potatoes and corn which I've seen a picture on here. I think ribs, potatoes and corn. No, it was online. If you go on to Google and put in Terrasa Manola, look at the pictures.
There's some good pictures on there. Uh they got the steaks here as well.
Uh ribeye, beef, entric cop, black pig chop, lamb chop, t-bone, and chicken breast. Chris might go for the chicken breast, she said. Um the fiesta meat is what's uh that's that one with the chips there. I think we had that last time.
And it's like pieces of pork done in a special spice. And there's uh fish of the day at the bottom there. I don't know what that is yet, but there's baby fried squid, grilled sardines, which I'm going to have, the fried octopus, and the Andalusian style caramari. You got rice, which is uh four types of paella for two people. Black rice paella, seafood paella, meat paella, vegetarian paella. They're 36, 36, 32, and 30 respectively. And then there is a for one person grilled vegetables, which isn't paella. It wasn't It wasn't grilled vegetable pa. It's a plate of grilled vegetables. And I saw that it's quite good actually. It's like a long plate and the grilled vegetables are sort of separate, you know, it's not like a mixed up uh thing. It's all different ones. And you've got eggplant, you've got um uh zucchini, but the the calabasin, the the white one, you've got there's a load of stuff anyway. Load of stuff. And then you got extras. You got the fries. You got the wrinkled potatoes. They're €4 a pop. Then you got three sauces in case you want sauce on your steak. and a portion of mo or ioli for 150. Ask about our daily specials and they come out with the um with the what's it called?
Uh desserts. So that's like homemade desserts. It's like creme brulee or some sort of chocolate pudding or the more like puddingy type things um that you can check there. So that's pretty cool.
So have you decided what you're going to have? Yep.
Chicken criquettes and chicken breast.
>> So, you're having chicken. And what do you want me to chicken breast?
>> Salad and chips or salad and canarian potatoes.
>> Salad and >> whatever you're having. I'm having the opposite. So, you get both.
>> And chips.
>> Salad and chips. Okay. I'll get Canarian potatoes with my >> salad. Four of ioli.
>> A portion of ioli. There you go. Ladles and jelly spoons. So, Emarie, Nigel, Trishious, et all s that's gone. I saw Sulford there.
Sulford Eddie and Vi.
Oh, Sul Sulford Red Devil. Sorry.
Sulford Red, not Eddie. Sulford Red Devil. Good evening all. Shirley's on.
and Marie saying hi. A up the hearties.
I missed the hearties. I must have gone.
Louise saying hi. Emma Kelly.
Daniel David. There they go. Evening.
Some of the cruise guys already sent to the Netherlands. Tim, they came off in Cap Verde, which is way south from us.
There's an English doctor who was working on the ship who was very ill and two others. And even though he was an English doctor, I think they did send him to the Netherlands. You're right.
Uh Allan. Allan, good evening. Good evening. Graeme's Advent Greens Adventures. Good evening, everyone. Uh Allan, congrats on the 500,000 views. Cool, dude. I don't know how many views I've got. There was an independent journalist on the radio today and I thought they said it was Cleo. Probably got that wrong. No, you didn't. That's it was Cleo. That's what she's been doing all day and that's why we're inviting her out for dinner tonight because she's knackered. She said she was she did RTE yesterday. I think she was an RTE uh 2 RT1 uh BBC 1. Hang on. She's told me what she do this afternoon. I'm frazzled. She says uh BBC BBC Wales, BBC Northern Ireland, BBC Scotland and so we can do BBC Tenery 2. I says, "Don't forget to mention balcony banter and Timothy D's YouTube channel." And she said, "Every time, >> everyone."
>> But, uh, she's knackered, she says. So, she's probably going to look frazzled when she comes.
>> I'm frazzled.
>> She's frazzled.
>> I've got my TV face on.
>> You got your TV. We on the TV as well or just the radio?
>> Yes.
>> Which TV was it?
>> BBC News.
>> BBC News?
>> Yeah. Christian Fraser.
>> Was that going out at 6?
>> I think. No, I was live. Live five.
>> Live five.
>> So, if you got catch up, >> there you go. Sorry, I'm a bit tired.
>> I I preempted everything and told everybody what you've told me and what I've heard. But uh >> but you you've got the latest. You got the latest, have you?
>> Can I sit here?
>> This is your spot and this is your microphone and Christina will speak into my microphone.
>> It's a big surprise. Yay.
>> Amen.
>> I listened. Where's me red book?
>> Okay, I'm going to get a cushion, but they will get one for me.
>> I'll get one for you.
>> Oh, would you? Thank you.
>> Uhhuh. So, hello everybody who can't see me.
>> Yes, he is a gentleman at times.
>> Well, he usually is, isn't it, Chris?
>> As long as you give him a beer >> and he has his beer. How are you?
>> Man, >> great. You look you look, you know, I haven't seen you >> the signing of you look more relaxed and just happier.
>> has helped a lot a lot.
>> I I can see it.
I'm just saying Christina looks happier the last couple of weeks.
Are you going to get a glass of Do you want to I'm going to get a bottle with the food?
>> Yeah. Can it be white?
>> No.
>> Or do you want red?
>> Oh, will you get a glass of white now and then you can share the red later?
>> Okay.
Blanco sec. Gracias.
>> Oh, you can get white as well, can't you? Cuz you're having chicken, aren't you?
>> She's having chicken. Chicken.
>> Having chicken. Chicken.
>> She says you're a gentleman.
>> Am I a gentleman?
>> I know.
I don't know.
>> A gentleman. When I wasn't listening.
>> Yes, I was.
>> What did she say? That I'm frazzled.
Hello, everybody. Hi. The frazzled is here. The frazzler. Frazzle Rock.
So, Cleo, take a breath. Wait for your wine to come.
>> Yes.
>> How are you, darling?
>> Um, every couple of years a big story breaks at the Canary Islands and it's what being a journalist is all about.
>> Yeah.
>> I live and breathe it.
>> Mhm.
>> So, there's an adrenaline rush. I mean without being rude or ignorant about say the people who are on the boat at this time but I it's been a while and since the last time my health has deteriorated now I've done at least 10 interviews today.
>> Mhm.
>> And at about course to 5 today I just thought I've got four more interviews to do. Can I keep going? I really thought I was just >> Do they do you do it personally or do they do they approach the town hall and the town hall?
>> No, this is this is done in a personal level.
>> Okay.
>> So, this is like my work. So, I do all my town hall work as well.
>> I'm just going to adjust your mic.
>> Yeah, I was doing all my town hall work today as well.
>> Okay. So, let me just pull this up here.
>> Pull it up.
>> And as the bishop said to the actress, >> you can't say that anymore. Can you?
>> I suppose you can.
Manolo.
This this guy this guy he got he got my special beer in. He's got the best food in on the island, I tell you.
>> And uh we're going to try something different today as well.
>> Salute.
>> Salute.
>> Salute.
>> And if you if you mention that you saw him on my channel, then he gives you uh he charges you double.
>> That's yay. That's some kind of voucher.
>> Anyway, I did at one stage think so yeah. So I mean I I work as a freelance and I work for the town hall.
>> Okay.
>> Um but because I am now known so I would be like the BBC would have a huge contact list. I presume it's all online and they put in Tenneref English speaking journalist and my name would probably come up.
>> Mhm. I did like today I've done BBC Wales, BBC Northern Ireland, BBC Scotland, um BBC television news, and I did the Times Radio, which is also a Zoom call.
>> Okay.
>> And a couple of different RTE programs as well.
>> Like that for I listened to both the RTE ones.
>> Did you? In fact, Peter Glennon >> Yeah.
>> sent me the link to the one I hadn't watched. I watched the RT2 one and he sent me the link to the RT1 one.
>> You heard it cuz I wasn't >> heard it. Yeah. Yeah. And uh and I said I was meeting you tonight and he's paid for your wine.
>> Oh, Peter, thank you very much.
>> There you go. I was saying everybody was has been really good this week. So, in fact, we're going to cover the whole bill tonight.
>> Oh, and I'm only No, I'm joking. That's really nice. Um, but like then I also I mean I spent my first couple of years working as a freelance journalist. So, you never say no to a gig.
>> Exactly.
>> So, BC Scotland, they got back to me.
They said, "We see you're doing our drive time. Do you mind doing the morning program? I said, "Yeah, that's fine. 6:15 >> tomorrow."
>> Yes.
>> Oh dear.
>> Yes.
>> Is that live on the radio?
>> Yes.
>> They're all live.
>> Can't you just um have different answers to what you they might ask and then just press the button?
>> No, I prefer to do lives. I like doing lives. I mean, >> well, I I thought that the RT1 was going to get the cover of what you said in the morning with the guy >> and then they were just going to ask the questions that he asked and then you just blend in your answers. But when you say, "Well, Rachel, >> that was the the 1:00 news." Yeah. But the news had changed considerably by that stage.
>> Yeah. I was saying to to the guys here, they were asking me some questions like, um, why is Tenneref not wanting the thing? and um >> and why why um uh some of the people have already been gone and what what's going to happen with the people? How are they going to get from here to wherever they're going to go?
>> And I said, I don't know. And it's changing every 5 minutes. So, >> I mean, the latest is first of all, it is Granada. I heard you say that.
>> Yeah.
>> So, it's not Santa Cruz. And I presume they pick Granadia because it's not used by cruise ships, right?
>> It's in a smaller It's not in the middle of a city.
>> Granadia's up. Well, actually, Granadia is up on the mountain, so they're not going to go up there. The port and is just up from the airport. It's It's basically >> it'll be between the airport and Santa Cruz.
>> Yeah. So, probably about 20 30 km.
>> Yeah. Um but it's not in it's not in a tourist area, so it's not Los Cristianos. It's not in a city, so it's not Santa Cruz. And it's a very sensible choice.
>> Um and the boat doesn't get here till Saturday.
>> Okay. So you're imagining, one would imagine that that will give So all the way I'm understanding it is that the Spanish government have already agreed that they will take all the Spanish nationals off the boat and they will go straight to Madrid to a military quarantine unit.
>> Okay.
>> Now there's 23 different nationalities on this boat.
>> So they're going to do military aircrafts.
>> Yeah, I imagine so it'll be a military lift.
Um, I know Iette Cooper is already talking to the World Health Organization about repatriating the There's 19 British passengers and four British crew on board.
>> Two Irish.
>> There's two Irish, but there's also Belgian Japanese people from New Zealand, people from France. So, I don't know how that's going to happen. I mean, I don't know. or the Irish going to send an air force jet for two people or as I mean I know they do in the past when there's a disaster zone you will get a couple of countries working together right >> so maybe one jet will bring four different >> national Britain can do >> Britain might bring the two Irish as well yeah so but they have until Saturday I mean it's >> it's this is I'm not saying therefore they will get it all sorted but it's not it's not a volcano where people are in immediate danger or it's not you know a forest fire >> and how does I mean a lot of people have been asking how does it transmit cuz I know it antivirus was caught from rats >> and the human to human um transition but is it is it touch is it air is it salv air I think it's airborne I'm not sure I'm not sure if it's we got to check if it's airborne that's terrible >> well I but they're saying I mean there was a a a doctor on I think she was like a WH doctor saying this virus has been around for years we know how to deal with it so It's not it's not corona.
It's not new and scary and will do things that we don't expect.
>> And do they know the um patient zero at all?
>> They are there is a possibility there was apparently this is an expedition ship. So they were picking up people when they were down they were in Tiara del Fuego in Argentina and they were bird watching. Now they think that there were two of the passengers who were bird watching in a landfill area.
>> Mhm. And they believe that that's where the virus possibly was >> because of the rats.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> But I mean again all of this is now that's a very interesting question about how it's how it is spread. I don't know the answer.
>> Okay.
>> So >> if anybody knows uh how virus is spread between >> the humanto human strain >> strain and I'd be very interested. I'm going to put that a little bit lower for you. There you go.
>> That should be good. And you can this is on right.
>> Yeah. And I mean, in fact, I've been I know one of the passengers.
>> You do?
>> Yeah.
>> All right. Who's that?
>> Uh, her name is Anne Lane.
>> Is she one of the Irish ones?
>> Yeah. And she's this amazing 80-year-old.
>> Just a little village island, isn't she?
>> Just a little village.
>> She I mean, she worked as she was Mary when Mary Robinson was first was president of Ireland. Yeah.
>> And Lane was her political aid, was her like right-hand woman.
>> Mhm.
>> And Mary was a friend of our families.
And my mother was very involved in the Labor Party. and Nan Lane was member of the Labour Partre Ireland is a village so she's a family friend and I know she gave an interview to the Irish Times newspaper so that's how I knew she was on board >> now I don't have her number we're not like besties or anything but we've stayed in touch over the years >> okay >> she's been interested in what am I doing so I have been texting her >> oh you you're you're actually in contact with somebody on the ship >> oh you're an inside inside thing then aren't you >> but I mean she doesn't want to do interviews so I haven't given her that's I respect that >> she said she doesn't want to >> she said that there is enough negotiations going on at the moment between the crew the company the governments and you know for a passenger to to come on the line and start giving opinion she feels would just muddy the waters >> right >> which is a very sensible opinion to have >> that is very sensible yeah that is very sensible >> and she's fine I mean she's in good form and she's just she's a real powerhouse for woman she's she's written a couple of books She takes photographs of sculptures around Ireland. And these kind of expeditions are are the things she loves to do. So, you know, it's her third or fourth expedition with this company. And she was asked one another friend of hers was on the radio today and he was asked, did Anne say that she will never go on another one of these expeditions? And she said absolutely not. She'd be on one tomorrow. So, she says the ship and the crew have been amazing.
>> Oh, well done.
>> You know, and it isn't their fault.
>> Mhm. Um but that they have acted brilliantly and as a passenger she feels safe, well looked after and >> so we're going to be professional now.
>> Yeah. What are we being professional about?
>> Journalist. Oh, there you go. Oh, look at me. And I've got full caps.
>> That was uh automatic, >> was it? All right, >> let's edit that.
>> I even have makeup on today, you know, with my TV face.
>> I thought you looked a bit TV there.
I only realize it's amazing when you look at yourself in the mirror. It's one thing, but when suddenly you have to go on a Zoom call and thinking, "God, this is national television." I think, "My ears are huge. I shouldn't have had my haircut so short."
>> Your ears aren't huge. They suddenly slim.
>> My They suddenly looked it when I was on television. And you can't see yourself because you have to look straight at the camera, not at the zoom.
>> Mhm. It's like like us and it's like >> Yes. Let's look straight at the camera.
And also, it's not a split screen, so you can't see what's actually going out.
>> Oh, you So, I'm even better than they are.
>> You're much better than they are. You're much better than the BBC.
>> Have I earned my dinner now?
>> You have engineered. The other thing was if you've mentioned her now, that's She's out. She's outed now, isn't she?
The the your mates.
>> Oh, everyone knows she's on the ship.
>> All right. Okay.
>> Yeah. No, no, no. She was she like she did a long interview with two newspapers.
>> Okay.
>> But she says, "Please don't call her.
Don't contact her. She doesn't want to do any more interviews.
>> No more interviews. Basically, it's good because if two two different versions come out.
>> Yeah. And a couple there was an American guy who did a couple of interviews as well and he was I mean he was very upset and emotional um preparing for the um lawsuit.
>> Yeah. Who knows? Um but I mean I I think her attitude is you know excellent.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. And I mean as a journalist I would never force and I just said okay great well let's chat though I said privately how are you doing so I'm said now saying it publicly but she's fine and well if anybody knows her okay >> and you know >> but are there any other people ill on the on the boat?
>> No no any all three people were taken off by air ambulance today and brought to the Netherlands.
>> That was the English doctor and >> doctor and two others. So they were flown directly to the Netherlands >> and the others are asymptomatic.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Which means they they might have it, but they're not showing signs.
>> Exactly. And the quarantine period.
Quarantine. Quarantine.
I would say >> I think can be up to 45 days. Again, I don't have all the details about this virus.
>> So, if you want a 45day holiday in Madrid, be Spanish and be >> Spanish and and be prepared to have a holiday in a in a military zone. I mean, obviously, some people were asking questions earlier. I mean there were times during CO when certain countries if you flew home to them you had to stay in a hotel for 2 weeks and you'd pay for it yourself.
>> I remember all that during the first couple of months of co when people were trying to get home.
>> Yeah. Right. Right.
>> In this situation I imagine it will be different.
>> Well if you go if there's only a boat full and it hasn't gone into the general public.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> And um >> and if somebody's going to be brought home and they go straight to their home and don't leave their home.
I don't know. I mean, I have no idea.
And different countries again, >> ankle bracelet time.
>> Yeah. I the I the problem has been I think you mention a virus. You mention the word virus and people panic understandably.
>> That's also true. Let me just go see if there's any um >> any questions for you.
Uh uh oh, he mistyped. It's not next week.
Niger said, "When you come over next week, we'll try it." And oh, I mistyped.
It's not next week. It's June.
>> And then his wife came on and says, "Oh, I thought it was a surprise."
>> Dear.
>> Oh, can I tell you one lovely thing as well? Or no, look at your comments first and then I'll tell you lovely thing.
>> Alan, you might have missed it, but what I'm doing, I'm saying um we're trying to get the moderators not to ask for thumbs up to see if it to see if it changes the amount.
>> Okay? So whether if the moderators say thumbs up or whether they don't say thumbs up, I want to see if the amount changes. And so that's that's why we've asked the moderators not to ask or or anybody not to ask uh for thumbs up. I don't want to say beg for thumbs up, but ask for thumbs up. I want to see whether it makes a difference. Uh obviously you can als you can change that to say if you're not subscribed, subscribe. We're still doing that one. But just don't uh don't mention don't remind the thumbs up. But I want to see if there's any difference. Uh, thought of Nigel had a surprise up your sleeve. Uh, Alan's multitasking. There you go. Evening Shirley and Okay, somebody else is live at the moment. I think Rick and Shel are live singing.
>> Homes heart is good evening Katherine.
Nigel saying Shirley too, right? But she feels like an age away. I'm still grafting. I want to stop. All you got to do Nigel is stop. That's all you got to do. Eugene McGiever saying in Tenneref memories are co are fresh updates on BBC website.
>> Okay Eugene >> uh Tony Patty's on >> we are fine. Craig says Bauta Deino.
Uh Amarie saying hi to Dena and Peter.
Congratulations Cleo. Great work today.
RT News at one very informative and professional. Enjoy your evening. And he sponsored the the bottle.
>> Thank you very much Peter.
and where he's on evening all just popping in was nearly ready then off to tavern for football Bayern versus PSG that's Paris San who's going to play Arsenal in the >> hoping for hopping for a great game well don't hop too much and uh no hoping for a great name he says obviously Cleo Connor >> Atuayanimich >> see I'm tired You tired?
>> I'm a little bit tired, but Tommy gamay.
>> Uhhuh. Tommy Gamay.
Uh Cleo sounds fab on radio 5 Live and was giving great detail and info into very very understandable and professional manner.
>> Thank you, Nigel.
>> She is very good. Gosh, Cleo, you are very busy today, says Amarie.
>> And Weby's talking about football again.
Cle's very knowledgeable and articulate.
She is.
>> And Dave Midi saying, "What's RTE?"
radio television airing. I know.
>> Uh Katherine says it's BBC in Ireland.
>> It's better.
>> It's better.
>> I don't know about that.
>> It's an Irish TV show. I think he's just joking.
>> Yes, I think he is joking.
>> Uh John Lori is on. That's it. Where the Mercy ship docks near all the windmills.
>> That's right. Near the windmill. Yeah.
>> Near the wind farm.
>> The wind farms. You know, I looked at that coming from Santa Cruz, you know, and I'm thinking that's why it's very windy, isn't it, on the coast in El Medano, you know, you got it's a waste of electricity, though, just doing that for the wind surface, >> isn't it? It's gas.
>> It's a waste. It's a total.
>> Yeah, but think of all the wind surfers who come here for the windmills.
>> But it means Donald Trump will never come here because he hates windmills.
>> It's going to be a Netflix series next year. We're going to get Cleo in as herself. Cleo.
>> Oh, really? Am I going to in a Netflix series? Netflix series.
Radio television. Aran, >> am I going to be the disaster journalist?
>> You're going to be the disaster journalist. Adam Hussein, foreign and Commonwealth Office. There you go.
>> Do you think they need a vaccine for it?
I don't think so.
>> There were there was talk about that.
Apparently, there isn't a vaccine.
>> No, but it's not worth it because it's it's you know, they can't develop a vaccine for something that only 10 people are going to get eventually.
>> Yeah. And it is but the your question is a very pertinent one. How is it passed from human to human? Um, but like I said, the doctor who was on was saying like >> don't worry about this is new. It's not a new virus and it's been around for years and years and years.
>> And you know, apparently it is seen quite often in rural rural village mostly in rural villages in South America.
>> Gotcha.
>> And people unfortunately die. And the two main causes of death are respiratory or kidney failure. This is what I was listening to on the radio. So smokers and drinkers have had it, haven't they?
Really?
>> Cheers. That's your liver, love.
>> Oh, is it?
>> Isn't it?
>> I think it is. But I think you can damage your kidneys with too much of this as well. The filter.
>> We can try >> the filtering. Talking about damaging guilt. Um, do I have another beer or should I get a bottle of wine? If you want a white, you know, you can get a bottle of white.
>> All right.
What you mean a bigger one than this?
>> Yes.
>> But I will I am up at 6:15 in the morning or earlier. So, do you want white wine with your can of >> Yes, I will. I'm sticking to white wine today.
>> You're going to stick to white wine?
Okay, then I won't I won't buy a bottle of red then.
>> Would you like a Would you like a glass of red >> or can you drink half a bottle of red and I'll drink the other half and I won't have another beer?
>> Are you going to have white wine, Chris?
>> Are you going to have white wine?
>> The question is, do we get a big bottle of white wine and we all share it >> or do you want a a bottle of red?
was very funny.
>> You want red, don't you?
>> I'm going to have red.
>> Why don't Chris and I get a half bottle of white between us?
>> You can drink a bottle, can you? Between you.
>> I'm I'm really am going to take it easy tonight.
>> Okay.
>> Because I do have like if I'm on air at 6:15, I will be up by 5.
>> Just get glasses then.
>> Yeah, >> there's many glasses.
>> I have I got new one.
>> They're spectacles, dear.
>> Oh, yeah. Sorry.
>> Maisy, send the ship. Case Hinekin. That stuff will kill any gyms. I'll simply use hands of viruses typically spread by rodents through feces, urine and saliva.
People become infected when they breathe particles in the air.
>> It is air >> containing the virus.
>> So it is airborne.
>> So the thing is how far can the particles travel and >> um how do you is it is it >> wear masks again?
>> No, it's the other way around. See I mean although that information is correct, right? I assume.
>> Yeah. Then the question is do you have to breathe in the particles from smashing the feces right or is it are humans who were infected exuding the virus in their breath >> there okay this is again information that I've just absorbed today like I think there's 40 different strains of this v of this virus and the particular strain that they identified >> in the people who died was a humanto human strain >> right but human to human doesn't doesn't tell you how it's transmitted. And if it's air transmission, is it is it the person sweating?
>> Uh it's their aura or is it breath or is it cough?
>> Yeah, I mean that's >> So that's the one I want. I mean that's what we need to know. So if it's just if it's just your aura.
>> Yeah.
>> Don't think it's an aura based virus.
>> No, but you know we all give off we all give off gases, don't we?
>> Yeah, we do. Yeah.
>> So is that enough to infect?
>> Or do you need to sneeze on >> or you need to sneeze on somebody or breathe on somebody or kiss them? Yeah, that's that's the question.
>> It says breathe particles, but I mean um >> again distance is relevant.
>> And not only that, but how big are the particles? What's their atomic weight?
How how quick do they drop?
>> Are they?
>> Um um how long are they active?
>> And do you know something tip? We probably wouldn't have even thought about these kind of questions precoid because we would have kind of gone particles >> but co gave us all a level of scientific >> information. I think that before co >> I wouldn't slightly different look where the football says Craig Eugene says I think we need a deep clean the cruise ship now >> I'd say they're doing that >> I think they are >> I would imagine and I >> shared on Facebook Ruth if everybody shared on Facebook I'd be a millionaire tomorrow >> anywhere >> I mean I I have the where crew there were members of the world health organization and the center the European center for disease transmission and control >> have already been on the ship >> and I as far as I'm aware I could be wrong they some of them might be staying with the ship >> right >> during the incubation period um simply due as we said the incubation period for the virus can range from 2 to 8 weeks >> 45 means it's still possible more passengers will develop the symptoms >> yeah which is why they when they arrive in the Canary Islands they're not just going to be said off you go have a nice holiday they will need to be either quarantined quarantined here or flown to their national countries for it. They will probably have to undergo quarantine as well.
>> Marie's just saying she's not asking for thumbs up. Just saying.
>> Keith Glith Chris Godfrey's on evening. Jojo's on uh Dave Don.
>> Yorkie lad. Sorry I'm late coming in.
Have you got a note?
Uh are they chatting about uh they are chatting about on ITN news and TV. Did you get any independent um people asking >> Times Radio? That's all.
>> Just Times Radio >> who I've worked on before and it was Hugh and I'm they're such a good organization. I'm always really happy to do them.
>> And I do get I get a buzz out of speaking to people like Christian Fraser and Hugo Riiffken. I'm thinking oo they're really famous.
>> Shirley thinks it's saliva coughing etc. Uh Ian's on kissing and coughing says Shirley.
>> There you go.
>> Coughing and breathing I think says Craig.
>> Breathing is that's worrying.
>> It is worried of his breathing. Yeah.
Passenger unhappy with ship's response but company insist procedure was followed. some that maybe it's the American passenger you're talking about Eugene >> because >> well I mean I'm not going to say what Jim said about lawsuits but inevitably you're going to get there's a there's you know 122 people on board so not everyone's going to be happy with how it's being handled >> and Amory says close contact is mentioned okay so >> I mean it's not it's not a happy situation and you know the people who are on the ship they they ain't going to going to their local pub anytime soon.
>> Okay. Do you want a >> fiesta?
>> Do you want Yeah. Do you just swap car fiesta and >> Yeah, I think so.
>> You don't want any um henchin crocket or padron peppers or >> and then get so full up that I can't take my car a fiesta and you'll have to finish it for me?
>> No, no, no, no. I'm going to get one myself. So, I'm going to get >> Let's have a look. I haven't even looked at the menu. I've been talking too much.
>> What are you having?
She's having the chicken uh crockett and the chicken breast.
>> Okay. So, you're chicken chicken.
>> Chicken chicken.
>> Chicken chicken. White wine.
>> So, everybody's having a store.
Are we all having stories?
>> Well, I'm not sure what I'm I'm going to sardines. So, I was thinking of having the Canoblau Garnell >> Dan to share. Is that the starters now?
>> To share. It's basically para picar.
>> Why don't I have some sweet Canarian black pudding? Oh, if you're going to have that, I'll I'll share it with you.
We'll >> share it. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Okay, we'll do that then, >> cuz that's yum. That >> is yum. I wasn't sure you were a a sweet black pudding person.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Yeah. Like a bit of black pudding there.
>> Black pudding.
>> Tina's on. Jimmy says, "Just read that one of the passengers."
>> Oops. Uh, who has died are checking the flight they've been on.
>> It was a KM flight. If it is the same person, yeah, they are trying to contact everybody who is on the same flight. If I'm if it's the same passenger you're thinking of, he was ready to board or was taken off the plane before it departed because his medical symptoms were so bad.
>> Right.
>> That was a KM. What are the symptoms that just broke I think this afternoon.
>> Is it like respiratory?
>> I think it can be respiratory. Yeah. And I think an overall unwwellness >> again this like I said to you today like from the from this morning until this evening.
>> Mhm. like between 11 and 1 when I was doing two different radio programs at first they were saying well you've been on that program so like I know RT because I worked there so they have a very particular policy that if you've been on a program that's 2 hours before they're on air >> you're not going to go on that program that's fair enough you know >> but they came back to me and said no the program the story is changing so much please do come on >> all right >> because it was just like the first five or six hours today >> Mhm. you had the health evolute, the health story was evolving, but also this political row with the Canary Islands was evolving. And I mean this evening, um Monica Garcia, who is the national health minister, has kind of more or less said to Fernando Clavico, the Canarian president, >> could you kind of put this political route to one side, >> right?
>> And and it is politics really, isn't it?
>> Yeah, I understand.
>> Is Clavico in a in a different um thing than Sanchez? He Sanchez is >> he's PP is he >> no he's coalesion Canario but he's in a coalition with PP right okay >> in the regional government >> so basically it's like Welsh nationalism and reform together >> type of thing >> against the labor >> against the Labor government so it would be like if the Labor but I mean legally and officially Sanchez has the right to tell the World Health Organization that they can dock in any Spanish port >> right right >> so whether it's the Canaries or Seville or Galatia >> or Morocco >> Sueta Sa.
>> Uh Magnetronis is on. Had tappers at Manolas last week. Fab food. Really good service.
>> Yeah.
>> Thank you, Magnetronis.
>> Did you pay double? Did you tell them Tim? Thank you.
>> No, they just keep quiet about say hello to Tim.
>> And Amry is saying, "Chris, I put you on 10 seconds so you can comment Dave M. No need to delete." What's happened there?
>> What happened to Chris? Is >> that a bad thing?
>> What happened to Chris?
>> I can't even see it.
>> There's one guy kept saying, "Why am I deleting com?" I don't delete comments.
>> But uh this one guy me sort of comments where is it? Where? I said we'll just write it here and I'll see whether it was good or not. And it didn't. He didn't write it there. So it must have been that bad.
>> Just let me know what suits Shirley and I'll be available. There you go. Is that a private conversation they're having?
>> Well, as long as I get Nigel, >> so I I I don't I I get commission from Nigel. So, >> better not say anything though.
>> It wasn't initially deleted by me. So, I'll put 10 second timeout so he can return. There you go.
>> That's a moderator for you.
>> The moderator.
>> So, I could do this. Can I do a thumbs up? Look.
>> Oh, Chris Godfrey was accidentally timed out by Marie.
>> I'm doing a thumbs up.
>> Yes. Doing a thumbs up.
Tina. Dina.
Oh dear.
Chris G says, "Jojo." I'm Timmy Bobs.
Yeah.
>> And this is Jojo Bobs. And somebody probably read it as Jojo boobs.
>> Well, that's probably you.
>> Katherine says, "Good evening, Trisha."
>> Okay, that's it. Right. So, let's order, shall we? It's 6:30. 6:44. Oh, please.
>> We said we're going to order 6:30.
You're hungry.
>> I've been up since 6:00. So, you're up since six. So, you chat with my wife.
>> I shall chat with your wife >> and I'll go on. So, let's go and order them.
>> Yeah.
>> So, basically, do you want to order the ioli for me?
>> The ioli for you? Yeah. So, we're going to have uh one where is it? One chicken cook. One sweet sweet black pudding.
Uh do you want bread and butter or bread and butter?
See, it's lots of food before the main course, isn't it? Does my main course come with chippies?
>> Yeah, I think it comes with either chips or >> chips. I want chips.
>> Chips.
>> Oh, chips today.
>> And you're having chips as well.
>> I want chips.
>> So, I'll take >> Winklies.
>> Wrinkies.
>> Too much.
>> So, we're doing one >> thing is >> the thing is the bread will come quickly. That's the nice bit, isn't it?
>> Well, I was thinking of getting bread with mo and ioli. Two portions.
>> Go on.
>> Yeah.
>> Cool.
>> And then we can share two portions.
>> Yeah, that makes sense, doesn't it, Chris?
>> Oh, >> yeah.
>> And then you got your ioli and mock. I'd have to order it separately.
>> That's quite sweet, isn't it?
>> Even though it's not real. Of >> course, it's real. I can see it.
>> It is real.
>> It is real. It's not your imagination.
Doesn't matter how much wine you >> fagment. I haven't had that much wine yet, have I?
>> No.
>> Anyway, listen. No. Oh, the lovely thing I was going to tell you.
>> Okay.
>> So, yeah. Been a journalist for 40 years. I'm in my 60s.
>> You think you get used to people saying nice things about you when you do a good job. My dad's 91 and he's in a nursing home. And he never ever knows how to work his phone. He knows how to answer the phone. He phoned me.
>> No. He phoned me to say he'd heard me on the radio this morning and just wanted to congratulate me on how professional I was. And I'm even tearing up now. It that was the nicest thing that happened to me all day.
>> That is nice.
>> It really was. And it was just like I'm really proud of you. I thought you did a really good job. And I just thought it makes it all worthwhile.
>> I mean, it really does cuz dad, you know, dad is, you know, there's a certain type of family who they don't say things. You don't you don't need to say things. You don't need to be emotional and you know be expansive and >> I'd love to be able to talk to me dad.
>> Hey, >> I'd love to be able to talk to you.
>> Well, I love talking to mine. I phone him nearly every day. Um and it's just he phoned me and I was like, "Oh." And I called him back cuz I was on the phone to BBC something and I phoned him back.
I said everything all right. He said, "Yeah, I just wanted to tell you I heard you on RT today and I thought you were really, really good."
>> Oh, wow. You were good. I I heard you on RT2 and RT1 Canarian black pudding pudding English. No Canarian black pudding.
Mhm.
Cleo is poinch.
Okay.
only did you order.
Um, no.
And >> we ordered it with the bread. And if you want more, I'll order more. Okay.
Thumbs up.
>> Thumbs up.
>> Tons.
>> I didn't You're I didn't know I was on RT2. They must have used the clip and put it Did they put it on the RT News?
>> No, it wasn't RT2. It was two guys.
>> I was on radio one in the morning on a kind of feature show and then I was on the >> Oh, was it both radio one?
>> Both radio one.
>> Somebody said you're on RT2 and I just thought one of them was RT2.
>> Okay.
Uh all I did is I went uh RTE Cleo O Flynn.
>> Ah okay.
>> But it would have been Clea >> Cleo on radio one >> with David McCulla >> interview. Yeah. Uh interview with Cleo, Irish journalist on >> Oh, that was for co >> That was February 2020.
>> That's neither today nor yesterday.
Neither today nor yesterday.
>> Today with David McCulla we did that one.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh journalists LinkedIn. Are you on LinkedIn?
>> I'm on LinkedIn. I like LinkedIn very much actually.
>> Tik Tok. All the medical experts are saying this virus is not at the level of >> Tik Tok.
>> However, regional leader F has refused to allow the ship to do and Cleo Flynn freelance in Tenneref joined.
>> So Tik Tok that's RT radio one. It is radio one.
>> Yeah.
>> That was my fault. It's not.
>> No, but the news bulletin. Sometimes we'll take a clip from a an interview and and stick it on the news bulletin.
>> Mhm.
>> Oh, I'm ticktocked. I've been ticktocked.
>> We always want our parents to be proud of us, says Trisha. You're exactly right.
>> And it and you don't you can't ask them to be proud of you. No.
>> But when they say it to you, it's just like >> makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it?
It's um I don't I don't um say well done to me daughter that often cuz she never calls. She does call.
>> But that's what I mean. It's cuz but maybe you're like my dad and I would never expect him. I know he loves me and I know he is >> proud of the work I do and stuff like that. So he doesn't need to say it, >> but if he goes out of his way to phone me from his nursing home bed, I'm thinking >> that is really special for me. That's like really special.
>> I'm just glad about that. Got it.
>> Beep beep.
>> Gracias.
What does foreign.
Yes.
Did you want water as well? Yes. Okay.
Jesse BBC.
What he's in what what Mano was saying was interesting because you know he was saying like the political row should have been done quietly, >> right?
>> You know, you don't need to do it in front of the cameras. You can pick up the phone.
>> Well, isn't that the whole point of political rouse?
>> Yeah, I suppose so.
It's funny. I was I was joking with I I won't say which BBC producer but obviously they are just wallto-wall local elections.
>> I mean so I was up next after a discussion about the local elections, the Senate elections and I was joking with the judiciary saying so I'm a bit of a distraction.
Yeah, thank God. So, cheers big.
>> Love you guys.
>> We love you, too.
>> You're like my fam.
>> We are your fam. Talking about your fam.
When's your little girl going to come and be a star on our show?
>> Right. She apologized for not coming on last Monday, but she is a busy body. I mean, busy in the best way. She she really does want to come on next Monday.
So, >> she's working today. Actually, she called me.
>> Brianna, if you don't know, she's done um everything to do with show business.
She's tried it, right?
>> Yeah.
>> And at the moment, she's transitioning from Dublin to London.
>> She'll move in she moves in August, but she's got a place in a school called Allin Actors in London.
>> So, she got a place there and starts in September.
>> Okay. Okay. So, if anybody knows all in actors in London, let us know what it's like, >> please. Yeah.
>> And uh if you know anybody in there >> who who wants to rent a room >> Yeah. exactly >> to a 21-year-old who's full of life, but she's she's quite she's quite clean.
She's very good at tidying up.
>> Oh, yeah. I saw that. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> She can do it on Monday as well.
>> But, uh Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's good.
But she's also I mean I told him like she recently joined a dance troop a couple well a couple of months ago and she's now dancing with the troop for our Ireland Africa Day on the 17th of May.
>> Oh cool.
>> Yeah. And I I will happen to be there.
>> So I'm telling people I'm going to be in Ireland. But I was kind of thinking wow is it kind of you know all these notes about cultural appribation and stuff like that. But the African leader of the dance troop insisted that she be part of it.
>> Cool. And I thought, well, she was born like a 100 miles off the coast of Africa, so she's just she's she's okay here, >> so you know, she's Canarian, so >> Canarian.
>> Yeah. So, I'm dying for that. And she loves the dance group. They're really good.
>> So, the food is about to arrive. So, this is the >> bird.
Oh, and the alioli >> and the mo and the alioli and everything.
>> So, do you want bread?
>> I told you my my ex. You haven't met Josie yet who is not a bad person. My ex he's a good >> I think I did meet him.
>> Did you possibly >> and he used to run Laramantica in here in Kayaki if anybody remembers it but he used to say how do English people say this is okay slightly rude. How do they say mo rojo and it was mo rojo >> mojo.
You like you you need a coahony for your for your back.
>> I have a [ __ ] Yeah. I've just got cohones cohin >> voting tomorrow uh in Britain um in Scotland at least and I think there are some uh >> in Wales and in like 130 local councils throughout Britain as well throughout >> very important that this is more important than the general election to show your uh affiliations cuz they will be >> depending on how you vote in Britain tomorrow or in the next I think it's It's It is tomorrow, isn't it?
>> I think Scotland's tomorrow. I don't know whether Wales, but there in England, but it's it's soon anyway.
>> Yeah. Over the next day or two.
>> Yeah. And whoever.
>> Will I put alioli on your plate, Chris?
Or on your bread?
>> There you go. And I'll put some more on your plate.
>> Sorry, Tim. I interrupted you.
>> You talking to Chris.
>> Um, it's important because the results of those >> Sorry. This is a This is a British.
>> Hello.
>> Hello, Times Radio.
>> So, this is the black pudding. This is sweet black pudding. Chris doesn't like it. Did you?
>> Yeah. I did something this share this with Cleo.
>> Unless you don't come back.
>> Sure. What time?
>> Comes with a little bit of uh sauce on the bottom. Yep, that's fine.
>> Yeah, Zoom with gives me time to get up and put on the skin up, >> please. Can I'm actually out for dinner with people. Sorry, and that sounds rude, but can you confirm on WhatsApp?
You have my WhatsApp number? Yeah, that would be really good.
>> Sorry about that.
>> And it's the same time as here. You know that? Yeah. So, 8:20 your time.
>> All right. Super. All right. Bye.
>> Bye. Bye.
>> She's coming back.
>> Who was that?
>> More work.
>> I think you take the skin off the black pudding.
>> That was Times Radio.
>> Times Radio.
>> Yeah. Monica again. Tomorrow. But they do it as a Zoom. So, it's like a little video interview as well.
>> I think you got to take the skin off these.
>> Okay.
>> It's very nice.
Oh, looks good.
>> Cheers.
>> Hi guys, I'm back. Sorry about that.
>> So, we're going to um Montag Mon. The S SNP keeps reform out of Scotland. There you go.
>> Yeah, I thought I heard I read that the S&P were going >> Oh, your mic was on.
>> No.
>> Mhm.
>> Luckily, I didn't say anything rude.
>> Okay.
>> Could you hear both sides of the conversation?
>> I couldn't hear it, but they can.
Gracias.
>> There you go, Chris.
>> Do you want me to put them all on your plate?
>> Did you all hear all of that conversation, guys?
>> They heard your side of it, probably.
>> Okay. Where I talked about needing to put my face on.
>> Uhhuh.
>> Can I have one?
>> Can I have one?
>> Of course. She says these are the croet deo, which is chicken croettes.
And uh we're just going to wait for the carne fiesta and stuff to come >> and then we'll finish. Yeah.
>> Mhm. Well, the carney fiesta is a main, so we're waiting for the mains.
>> Mhm.
>> Mhm. Is >> that okay?
>> Oh, yeah. Absolutely.
>> You don't mind eating on camera?
>> But please, people just tell me how much of the conversation I heard and have I completely embarrassed myself.
>> Well, depends what you said >> again.
>> Depends what you said.
>> I'll do that. So, no.
>> Sorry, I'm having another one. These are for sharing, of course. Are you having black potato, Chris? Black potato. Black pudding?
>> No.
>> Oh, I don't like it.
>> You don't like it? I love it.
>> She's never had it.
>> I'd never eat this at home. I mean, I'm not a big fan of Well, Kilty black pudding, I have to say, is pretty special.
>> Well, you got to you got to eat a lot.
>> Only on one side. Oh, what happened there? Heard every word of that, but only one side.
Oh, well, >> well, all you heard was me being booked for the radio tomorrow, so you know what time to listen in.
>> Uh, she also said Tim's paying a bill.
>> We are paying the bill, but um but luckily enough, you're paying the bill because we've had so many people support the channel this week that we are able to uh invite Cleo for dinner, >> which I am extremely grateful for. Guys, >> thank you so much.
>> Are you a Moa fan?
>> No.
Then I'll take it cuz >> I'm a verde fan.
>> Looks like nobody's having it.
>> No, I like the verde.
>> So this is a mojo, >> which is paprika and chili.
>> And the moco, which is the green one.
>> Cilantro.
>> Is cilantro. Yeah. Or coriander as you may call it in Britain.
>> I often wondered >> there are certain words that I just don't know.
It was like the first for about 15 years I lived with the father of my childh >> Jose who is >> he's originally well he's Catalan so he's big Barcelona fan.
>> Mhm.
>> So I learned how to watch Spanish football in Spanish.
>> Right. I have to swear as well >> completely.
>> I need somebody to teach me how to swear in Spanish in the car. I want to say >> this has to put intermittent on you.
>> Well that'll do. I mean, you're doing very well on your own. Yeah.
>> But you don't say that to the police when they stop you.
>> No, no, I just say to the police, uh, ah, >> it was his fault.
>> No. Again, depends on the circumstances.
>> You know about my crash.
>> Yes, I do.
>> I went to the police afterwards >> and explained >> and they said what I was explaining was impossible.
>> And I said, "Well, I can show you if you want." And they said, "We It's closed."
>> Yeah. Case closed.
>> So I said, "I know what's going on here." And they got upety about it.
What's going on here?
>> I didn't even >> This was local.
>> Mhm.
>> Okay.
>> I'm having this one, Tim. And you're having that one.
>> I'm having this one. Did you eat the skin? No.
>> I kind of did.
>> Was it crispy? I don't mind the crispy skin.
>> Oh, yeah. Well, no, I can't eat the skin. That was a bit gummy, rubbery.
So, you can't do this the Chinese joke anymore, can you? This chicken's rubbery. Oh, thank you.
>> Oh. Oh, no. Yes.
>> Yeah, you probably can't. I do remember going to a local Chinese restaurant here after Brienne Brianna was maybe two months old or 3 months old went out for dinner and a very lovely Chinese woman who worked in the village for years asked me what Brianna's name was.
much.
And first she did ask us if we like the lo the lo wine.
>> Mhm.
>> And then she asked for Brianna's name and she did say >> but >> no thank you. No thank you. No no no no.
>> Can I have it?
>> But I mean I'm sure Chinese people have great fun poking fun at our pronunciation of stuff. So >> they do >> cuz we can't hear it.
>> As they should.
>> We can't hear it, you know.
and they can't and like like Spanish people. Okay, this is me now going to kind of lose every Spanish friend I have, but anything that starts with an S is an ES.
>> An ES. Yeah, >> espaetti.
>> Estan Stefan. Espaei, >> escandal.
So, I actually read somewhere why that is. And it's um it's it's how you're brought up, right?
you can't say any difference.
>> And the Chinese, they have one word but five different vocals of it.
>> Okay.
>> So if you go and there's and there's like the tick and then the thing.
>> Yeah.
>> And um if you grow up in a Chinese family, >> then your ear will hear that. But if you if you're a older than six, those um nodes on your on your in your uh what do they call it? Eard drum or whatever >> or the stirrup or the something or the anvil. Yeah.
>> Whatever it is, they turn off.
>> Oh, okay.
>> Because uh children only listen to the words that are being talked around them.
>> And that's why adults find it harder to learn a foreign language. Yeah, >> because I was about to dispute what you were saying that, you know, they can't because Briana and her friends who grew up here in bilingual households.
>> Mhm.
>> They will switch languages in the middle of a sentence.
>> Yeah. But >> and they don't just switch languages, they switch switch accents.
>> But the thing is, >> but so they've been learning it since the since zero.
>> From zero, all the sounds you hear, your ear will accept it. But if you don't hear the difference between and >> or and yeah like or see I think the Irish language has sounds that are very similar to certain Spanish sounds like the which doesn't exist in English. I think >> it does when you're choking.
>> Okay. So but like in Irish you'd have I means I went. Mhm.
>> So hi is there and that's a like there's that use of the back of the throat and your muscles know how to make that sound cuz they've made it before. I always tell people the J in a is like the H in huge >> huge but it's huge but in fact it's made huge is at the front >> huge >> but is there it's the back of your throat >> now if you if you look at people who speak a different language it probably looks is very rude because you're staring at them >> but look at how they use their mouth >> Mhm.
French I mean I wonder are French people's jaws just automatically kind of slightly more because they're exactly >> good business they their muscles of their mouth have actually been used in a different way since they were since they start to speak >> right >> and I think it's not just that it's not just the way you're hearing it but probably the muscles of the muscles that you use to speak have become accustomed to a different usage because of the different sounds that you're making. But I think that you're able to >> with practice to do the speaking bit, but you will never be able to listen to the sounds if you haven't heard it before you're 6 years old because your ears turn to >> probably. I don't I mean you could be right. I'm I have no idea. So I'm >> I'm never wrong.
>> I mean I did an interview today. I was interviewed today which was another thing by the diaris.
>> Mhm.
>> Um >> Oh, you said that.
>> Yeah, that's coming out in Sunday. So that's kind of fun.
>> Mhm.
>> Um and so it's a young it's a young journalist.
>> Daily reporter I think that translates to, doesn't it?
>> The or the daily news.
>> Aiz is a is news is >> Oh yeah. Okay. Or reports. Yeah. No.
Yeah. Okay. But I mean the guy the guy used to work with us when he was a student journalist and he's really he's a sound as hell. He's a big Manchester United fan like spent a year like six months in Manchester. It speaks good English and stuff but he anyone who's Irish be listening to this. He sent me questions in Spanish but asked me what was it like for a jackin to be living in Tenneref. Now only a Dublin person will understand that I think.
>> Right. Okay.
>> A jackin is a is like a curse word that country people might use for a Dublin person.
>> All right. Okay. Okay. But us stubborn people have taken it and we use it proudly now. I'm a Jackine.
>> Is a Jackine the female version or is the other >> No, no, Jack. It's just a jack for every Jack and a Jackine.
>> No, no, no. You're a Jackine. It's the diff like you're if you're a culty if you're not from Dublin and you're a Jackine if you're from Dublin.
>> Oh, got you.
>> They're very rude decision.
>> Opposite of a culty.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> Um but I mean so he's he's a smart cookie, you know. Anyway, what I was going to say is he was talking to me today. We did the interview and I can when he's chatting to me, when my when my work colleagues are talking to me, I understand everything they're saying.
>> Mhm.
>> So I can I I hear them replying. I know I'm making mistakes grammatically, but so I do understand them. So I I >> think you can learn to listen maybe because our languages all have the same these are European languages.
>> I'm not saying you can't listen to what they're saying. What I'm saying is there are certain tones that >> But is it also to do with the kinds of language?
>> No, it's to do with the tone. You know, it's the diff it's the difference between 105 um hertz and 106 htz. A lot of people can't tell the difference when when when it changes, right? And so in Chinese because it's such a it's such a singong language.
Yeah. then some of the sounds, not the actual words, but some of the some of the vocalizations you cannot hear because it's already turned off in in your language.
>> That's that's what I'm that's what I'm asking. Is it >> like and you know there's there's there's certain and like Irish Yeah.
Like Irish. Well, like any language, they've got certain things that foreigners can't speak or can't hear.
They don't they say well it's the same >> and it's got nothing to do with the roots of the languages because there are different roots surely but like Russian as well like there'd be cerillic kind of languages or the Russian languages that I wouldn't even know where to begin whereas if I hear Italian >> Mhm.
>> I don't speak Italian but I because I speak French and Spanish I have a fairly good idea of what they're saying. I could probably get by in a restaurant um because it is it is a kind of language that I'm used to. uh spag bowl.
>> But do you know what? I don't know.
That's a very interesting um conversation we could have.
>> Craig's been on Google. Panta virus refers to a strain of viruses spread through by rodents through the body fluids and excrement. Humans often become infected when they inhale particles from dried rodent droppings, >> which is where the the patient's earn smell anybody else's [ __ ] >> but only if they're not a rat.
>> Well, I know a few rat.
>> Exactly. You You dirty >> dirty rat.
>> Actually, there's a whole generation that doesn't know that, right? Like the one below us.
>> Chat's gone quiet. Yeah, you don't have to chat. It's rubbery.
>> I think everybody's gone anyway. There's only Oh, there's 99 people still watching.
>> 99.
>> It is It is interesting, you know, what we do here. And I think it's a lovely restaurant and >> we can see the people coming in >> on this side. And uh we're just hoping that the food's going to arrive and we can show the food as well.
>> And then we can turn it off.
>> Yeah. And I mean it it Yeah. Days like this as well make me I was walking down having heard you badmouth me before I got here. No, but I mean I I do love living here and I I do like being a correspondent from Tenneref now and then to be able to explain that things are not as bad as they may seem to be or to explain or to clarify.
And it is kind of a nice position to be able to hold now and then that people think oh well >> it it makes me proud that people think well we can refer to Cle and she'll know what's going on. I don't always know the answers and I hope I always say actually I don't know the answer to that question.
>> Do you know what cle is in German?
>> The word the German word cle >> it's clover.
>> Clover.
>> Is that notingish?
>> It is. I remember when I first went to Germany to Opair Christine, I was 16 and I saw an ad. I had never lived in the States or anything, but there was an ad foring which is a soap.
>> Mhm.
>> And it means Irish spring.
>> Irish spring. Yeah.
>> And it was a red long a woman with long red hair running barefoot through a field of clover. And I'm thinking, what the hell is she there? Like I have no idea. But it was the Irish Spring. And I turned to the people I was opairing for and I said, "Never heard of that. We don't have that soap in Ireland."
>> No.
>> And I probably did arrive actually 20 years later. You probably You remember that from Germany? Was it still around?
>> I don't think so.
>> Do you remember?
>> No.
>> As a soaping, >> you remember it? No.
>> Yeah. But it was uh German people, right? Speaking German set in Ireland.
Yeah.
>> It was just a German product. It was soap, wasn't it? Or was it clos soap?
Soap for the machine or something. Or a It was something to do with bodily smells.
>> Oh, I thought you meant a soap opera.
>> No, a soap.
>> I thought there was a soap opera called Irish.
>> What you wash your hands with, Tim?
>> I got IA butter. No, that's stuff that you put in your mouth after it's been on your bread.
>> So, you put it on the bread first >> and your mouth will go about the bread.
Do you want any more bread?
>> No, thank you.
>> Do you want any more bread?
>> I might have it with my car fiesta, though. So, Oh, do you want it? Oh, >> no. I'm just going to get rid of it.
>> Oh, getting rid. No, no, no, >> no, no. I'm not hungry. I'm fat.
>> No, no, no.
>> Tina's saying goodbye cuz it's all boring now. No, she's not saying that.
>> By now, >> one for the kids. There you go. Hope this stuff isn't putting you off the black pudding, Tim. Obviously not.
>> We uh is Oh no, it's a fly on the outside. Look.
>> Thinks is it much?
>> We're We're ready. We're ready for big for big meal.
>> We got to show everybody what we're having.
What are you having? Chicken. Chicken breast.
>> I'm about mate feast.
>> Meat feast.
>> You were we won't be able to finish that.
>> Oh, that was No, that was two portions, was it? That we had last time.
>> We'd also had steak and chicken and shrimps and prawns and black pudding and croettes. And I'm trying to be sensible this time and not stuff myself.
>> I can eat a buffet. Eat a buffet. Eat a buffet, too. The most common virus in the United States is spread by the deer mouse. There you go. What's interesting the poor demigra stop googling mate stop googling >> but according to the experts I was listening to on the radio today which is as bad as googling different countries have different rates of succumbing to the virus >> really >> yeah I mean there were depends you mean >> yeah maybe again the same >> we're not all the same or maybe it is to do with the food we eat the environment that we grew up in you know our our immune systems are stronger or not so strong depending on the kind of vitamin or calcium.
>> I pressed a button on this and it started recording on that.
>> Are you still listening to my phone call, guys?
>> Oh man, >> Times Radio will never forgive me. I'll be cancelled. Cancel culture.
>> Cancel culture. I never understood that.
>> Chicken and Liverpool accent.
>> Chris is saying, "Enjoy your meal.
Thanks for the stream. See you on the next one. Take care." They're just getting bored now. Okay, >> ladies and gentlemen, we just wanted to show you what the food was like. But what I'm going to do, I'm going to finish it here and take a photo of it.
Yeah.
>> And I'll put it up. Thank you very much.
Gordon just come in.
>> Peter again.
>> He's saying my house in my house. Oneish and one still totally Scottish. But Grace mix. She says Scottish words. And it's really funny to hear it. Uh >> he's uh he moved from Scotland to Dublin and uh he's got two sons and one's speaks Irish.
>> Well, I have a friend here whose daughter she's got a daughter and a son and her daughter when she speaks English sounds totally English, but when her son speaks English sounds like a Canarian speaking broken English.
>> Really?
>> My brother-in-law, she's from Manchester and the dad's from Offra in Santa Cruz.
>> My brother-in-law's Scottish from Wick, right? It's way up north there. And all his brothers have got broad Scottish accents.
>> And his dad and he has got like a Cheshure North Wales accent >> cuz you've been there 40 years there. 50 years.
>> 50 years now. God.
>> Well, Bri when she speaks Brianna grew up here, but when she speaks English, she has a Dublin accent. Always had. I mean, you met her when she was a kid.
>> She didn't have a Dublin.
>> Maybe it was more slightly Midwestern.
She didn't have an English accent, though. I mean, her English learned from me.
>> Do you think she had an English accent?
>> I thought she had an English accent.
Yeah, >> I thought it was more. She was watching too much I Carly and Nickelodeon. So, she'd Irish combined with Disney TV.
>> Oh, that's that's what I remember. So, like >> now she's very Dublin, but when she speaks Spanish, she's very Canarian.
And it's funny like her accent, she just everything, even the way she speaks, like we were talking about mouth shape.
The minute she starts speaking Spanish, her hands start to move more. I try to speak I try to speak in a in a Spanish accent when I'm speaking Spanish.
>> As do I.
>> Because I got a mate who's Irish and he speaks a lot of languages all with a Gway accent >> which is >> every one of them.
>> Oh, there you go.
Oh yeah, >> do you want some more of this, Chris?
>> Uh, >> wow. Look at that, guys.

>> Maybe a bit of this. These chips are the >> real chips.
>> Chris, I would stab him with it this time.
>> Yes, they're underneath.
>> They're underneath.
>> On my side of the plate.
>> On your side of the plate.
