Last hot day before rare July cooldown

[00:00:04]All right, folks, looking at the Ozark Mountains Sports Complex, looking at a sky, a mix of clouds coming in from the north and clear skies farther down to the south. Those clouds are moving in ahead of a cold front. Had some rain early this morning, and still ongoing uh just to the northeast of our coverage area, off towards Cuba and Sullivan and St. Louis, and even Jeff City and Columbia are starting to see some rain showers this morning. Those have faded away, but the big picture is we got this cold front, a couple of them. Uh the main one, the weaker one, coming in first, now south of I-70, then a secondary one kind of reinforce the cooler air coming in, sitting up to the north, crossing out of Iowa into northern Missouri. Little bit of rain along that front, but as the fronts move through the Ozarks, not expecting to see any rain here locally today. Probably going to keep the skies mostly sunny to partly cloudy for the day today. It's going to be hot, too, today. 77 already this morning in Springfield, 78 Ava, hanging on to 80s places like Stockton and Clinton. Winds now out of the south and southwest about 5 to 10 mph for us here in Springfield. Heat index today is going to be another hot and steamy day.

[00:01:11]Talking heat index values of about 105, 110 in southern Missouri to 115 in some places in northern Arkansas. That is dangerous heat, okay, for today, especially if you're going to be working outside. Drink water, take breaks in shade, cover yourself up, wear sunscreen, okay? Don't be outside in the middle part of the day if you can't help it. Uh heat index though for tomorrow, guess what? Those fronts coming in handy for us. We'll find temperatures in the middle 80s for a Wednesday. Big, big improvements there. Now, when the front comes through this afternoon, might squeak out a thunderstorm to the southeast, across the bootheel and northeast Arkansas. Otherwise, we're going to be staying dry for today. So, some storms possible, but a lot of the data keeps the area dry in central southern Missouri, northern Arkansas when the front blows through. Still going to be mostly sunny for today. A few clouds, you know, here and there, but a lot of sunshine, too, and that will allow temperatures to really climb.

[00:02:04]Middle to upper 90s and then heat index values up to 110 to 115 at times today.

[00:02:09]Tonight, we're clear, we're calm, we're comfortable. Things in the upper 60s tonight and Wednesday will be sunny and in the 80s. Things look great for tomorrow. Do not want to miss the weather for Wednesday or Thursday. And then Friday, we sneak in some scattered rain and storm chances throughout the day and then clouds will clear early Saturday morning. We jump right back into hot weather Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for next week. Rain is followed by some heat again. So, quick shot at some showers on Friday. That goes away and the heat builds right back in. The hot weather, the heat dome takes over once again. It looks like next week will find multiple days of pretty hot weather for us. So, today, 96°. Morning rain chances off to the northeast. Cold front comes through about middle of the day today. Still going to be hot though and really humid today. It's going to be dangerous heat for this afternoon. As we go into tonight, that's where we're going to feel those impacts. Upper 60s to low 60s to the north and east.

[00:03:06]Tomorrow, middle 80s, decreasing humidity, a lot of sunshine. Tomorrow night, very comfortable. Wednesday night into your Thursday morning. Thursday itself, 85°. Mainly sunny but a few clouds building in later in the day.

[00:03:19]Might sneak in a rain shower west of I-49 Thursday afternoon as well. Friday comes with scattered chances of rain. And then Saturday, Sunday, warm weather builds back in. We're going to be hot again into next week.
