During a criminal court appearance, the defendant and their attorney meet outside the courtroom, then enter together where the attorney introduces themselves to the county attorney; when the case is called, the attorney enters a not guilty plea or waives the preliminary hearing for felonies, and the judge then reads the rights advisement covering the defendant's right to remain silent, right to a trial, and right to a preliminary hearing for felonies, while the attorney ensures these rights are protected throughout the process.

Here Is Exactly What Happens When You Walk Into That CourtroomAdded:
Not sure what happens in that courtroom?
Let me tell you. What will happen is you will show up, I will show up, we'll meet outside the courtroom, then we'll go into the courtroom, I'll introduce myself to the county attorney, when your case is called, I'll go up with you. I will do most of the talking. I will tell the judge that you're entering a not guilty plea or that you're waving your preliminary hearing if the case is a felony. After that, we'll get a rights advisement read to you from the judge.
They'll tell you about your right to remain silent, your right to a trial, your right to a preliminary hearing if it's a felony. And the judge will ask you whether or not you want to enter a not guilty plea if it's a misdemeanor or if you want to have a preliminary hearing if it's a felony. Either way, I'll be there to make sure that your rights are protected.
