When AI agents are given autonomy to merge pull requests without human oversight, they often generate code that gets stuck in a 'PR graveyard' and never reaches production, resulting in wasted resources and zero value creation; this is not true efficiency but rather a failure to maintain proper human oversight in critical software development processes.

Are we hitting a wall?Added:
But we hit a wall again where the progress just seems to be slowing down.
There's a story of Vibe Coded disasters piling up on Reddit. Henson Wong, that's a a play on words there, says, "Effen Claude keeps breaking two things for every one thing it fixes. That's it. I'm switching to 5.5." Ronin posted, "Talking to smarter folks than me, I'm convinced many of the AI folks in my timeline are full of [ __ ] Nobody is running 20 agents overnight and building stuff for actual users." And then Dex says, "No production software where people are on call for downtime is being written overnight unattended by agents."
>> I mean, model progression has slowed since, you know, the the Opus moment.
Our efficiency hasn't really slowed, at least at Mostra, but that's cuz anytime anybody lets Claude take the wheel, that PR isn't doesn't get merged. It gets stuck in the PR graveyard. There's a difference between high-intent PRs and low-intent PRs, and I'll tell you from our experience at our company right now, most [ __ ] that is unattended does not get merged because the person who wrote that is doing something like that's like, "Oh, like maybe we can do it." But they don't have conviction to see the PR all the way through. That's not an efficiency. That's not being AI native.
That's just you wasting money for something that'll never go to production. You have generated zero value.
