This is this day is the scripture fulfilled in the in the hearing. Um, and that's why I'm changing my name. He told me um that my name was changed. He was giving me a new name and I'm being obedient.

[00:03:59]Well, um, in the past there was, um, gosh, you know, let's say like Oh, you said criminal. Uh, I'm guessing it's um maybe forgery. This was maybe 20, 30, 30 years ago. Um and then uh maybe um a fraud maybe about 10 years ago. I think that's the only two things.

[00:05:44]>> Oh, wow. Um maybe maybe maybe 3 years probation.

[00:05:57]>> Yeah, I guess you could say that maybe 97 to 2000 to maybe when the case was done it was, you know, it started in 97.

[00:06:28]>> Um 36-month sentence.

[00:06:51]>> Uh no, it was in a I don't even know what penitentiary. I I doubt if it was a penitentiary. I think >> prison jail.

[00:07:45]Okay. So um just looking at the requirements for the law in Texas in order for someone to get a name change when there is a past history that in includes this type of criminal conduct. So, um, why don't you explain to the court why this name change would be in your best interest?

[00:08:26]Old things have passed away. Behold, the new has come. I'm a new man. I'm changed.

[00:08:33]And um what the the old name is no longer associated with who I am. And this new name in Christ is who I am.

[00:08:51]Um I come in my that's my father's name.

[00:08:54]That's the name that my father named me.

[00:08:56]My father in heaven. And um I received that name.

[00:09:04]as a new man, as a minister of God.

[00:09:27]>> Because I was renamed. I had an encounter with Christ Jesus. He and I sat together and he gave me a new name.

[00:09:39]>> Okay. And then my next question um Mr. Norwood is how would granting this name change be in benefit to the public?

[00:10:01]The public would benefit because the law is intended for righteous people.

[00:10:14]And my name change would showcase someone new. Someone is that is not of the old man of the of a old center. Um, my life is a new and the old man is dead. The old me is gone. So, changing this name would benefit the public and they would be able to see a name that represents a new man.
