Sunday night 5/17 forecast. Let's talk thunderstorms the next few days.Added:
Hey guys, meteorologist Doug Hedrick. I hope you had a fantastic Sunday. Another super windy day out there. We've had over the past 3 days, we've had pretty consistent wind gusts kind of 30 upwards to about 40 mph. And we're going to see that again as we go into tomorrow. Let's go ahead and break it down. We do have some thunderstorms in the forecast.
Bridgewater Roofing Weather Center takes care of you want rough at a time. In our Temp Co radar, you can you can actually see the tornado watch is kind of in effect across the North Kansas and then central parts of Nebraska up into Iowa.
We may get a straggler, one or two guys that try to get in here late tonight.
I'm going to keep my eyes on it, but I really think most of us are going to stay dry over the next several hours.
But thunderstorm chance is definitely increasing by morning. Also, the allergies crazy. The tree allergies very high. The grass has been high. So, if you are a sufferer, you are suffering outside over the next few days.
Hopefully a little bit of rain will kind of wash that out just a bit. Firm Foundation Repair evening planner, it's warm. 80s, 70s, very windy, should stay dry, but we could get a random storm in here after midnight. The big severe threat is out across central Kansas up through parts of Nebraska. Now, as we go into Monday, a level four out of five threat, but this is mainly just to our northwest. Stay safe Midwest storm shelters. Mainly just north of Wichita up toward Manhattan to Topeka.
That's where that main threat is going to be. We could get a few random storms in the afternoon. We are going to have a severe threat with those, but I think our higher threat is tomorrow night into Tuesday morning as we get a line of showers and thunderstorms that drop through. Let's look at a couple projections. Let's look at a couple different models. This is one of my favorite short-range models, Futurecast Pascal Air Plumbing and Electric. So, as we go through tonight, notice this band of storms near Kansas City. Some of these guys will try to get into Southwest Missouri, so our northern counties and then into Southwest Missouri. We could get some strong to low-grade severe storms early in the morning, 6:00 7:00 8:00 a.m. So, I'm going to get up early. I'll make sure that I'm watching these for you. And then we get scattered thunderstorms mainly on the Missouri side as we go into the afternoon. So, once our instability starts to kick in, some of those storms could be strong to low-grade severe. Focus your attention back across central Kansas once again, storms fire and this whole line drives in as we go through tomorrow night. And it's going to be late. I mean, after midnight to about 6:00 a.m., but we're going to have a severe threat with these. Main threat is going to be gusty winds and large hail. Look at this line dropping through as we go all the way into Tuesday morning. Boys, calm down back there.
Fighting. So, showers and thunderstorms to start Tuesday morning and then we'll see if anything else can refire again as we get into Tuesday afternoon. Here's a different model, in-house model, trying to pick up on a few storms tomorrow afternoon, northwest Arkansas, southwest Missouri. So, that's why I'm going to put the chance in for some morning storms and a few more popping up during the afternoon tomorrow and then of course the main line tomorrow night.
Tuesday, south of I-44 late Tuesday evening, Tuesday night, additional scattered thunderstorms, but we're going to be on the north side of the cold front, so those would be non-severe storms as they push through. And then we have thunderstorm chances returning as we head toward the holiday weekend, which of course I know nobody wants to know or doesn't want that to happen, but of course we'll kind of focus on that as we go through the week. All right, the winds are going to be strong, still gust 35 to 40 tomorrow and then they come down a bit with our front as we go into Tuesday afternoon. So, that is definitely good news. It's been so windy the past few days. Maple Leaf temps tonight, look at this, we only drop back near 70. On your Monday, upper 80s for afternoon highs. And your Downstream Casino 7-day forecast, again, severe threat tomorrow, tomorrow night, and Tuesday. It's not a screaming high threat, but let's keep our eyes on it. And then cooling down for the middle of the week. Thunderstorm chances returning late this week toward the weekend.
All right, guys. Have a great night.
