>> [music] [music] >> As I said, we are from Africa, from a country called Uganda.
We are the Baganda people. Though we perform a lot of different dances, but we are located in the central part of Uganda, which is Buganda Kingdom.
>> [music] >> We do perform a lot of different dances of different and different cultures around the world, not just African cultures.
We are the Bantu people still.
The people of South Africa, the people of Tanzania, the people of Kenya, people of uh North Africa, they do understand when I say what Bantu means. We are a very large group of people who speak a common language with a common suffix of -ntu.
>> [music] >> That is what makes us united.
In Africa, we are one people.
All these people you're seeing here come from different cultures.
They're not all Baganda, though they're performing the Ganda dance right now.
Once in a while, you'll be seeing people performing dances >> [music] >> of different tribes, of different cultures.

These are artists, they're performing artists right now.
>> [music] >> And they're performing in the process of practicing, trying to become perfect.
>> [music] [music] >> These are the Baganda people. It's the Ganda dance.
So, we are having a lot of tribes currently performing.
>> [music] >> These are the Baganda people from the Buganda Kingdom ruled by the Kabaka, one of the strongest and still standing kingdoms.
>> [music] >> It's one of the oldest kingdoms in the world, not just in Africa, but in the world.
Buganda Kingdom is one of those kingdoms that was centralized from the beginning.
We had a centralized system of leadership.
We have a monarchy who is called the Kabaka.
Though some people out there call him the King of Buganda, but here we don't call him King.
Kabaka is a very different title.
It doesn't mean King.
It's a stand-alone word. Kabaka is the Kabaka. He is the monarchy of Buganda, the leader of the Baganda people.
