When managing a greenhouse with limited space, gardeners must balance protecting tender seedlings from cold weather with the need to make room for new plantings like tomatoes; the solution involves removing overcrowded seedlings, using protective fleece for remaining plants, and ensuring adequate root space for each plant to thrive.

I got the taties in last night cuz it was going to be really cold. So, I thought I would put them in here. Now, I've got a dilemma today. I'm half Leave them in here >> and I'm half take them out. But, I don't know if you can see there. The desire is starting to get flowers on. Well, that's a sign that they're starting to form tubers, potatoes in the bucket. So, that's a good sign. Wa, that nearly flew over there.
>> But I'm thinking I've got to the dilemma is these need to come out because I need to get me me tomatoes planted in this bed, but it's the temperatures at night. What I'm thinking of doing is um I'm going to have a sit down and a drink and sit and think about what I'm going to do today. So, I'll come back to you. Right folks, once and for all. We're sick of dillydallying about here. We be we've spent the last few days because of the weather running backwards and forwards to the plot getting the titties in and getting them back out, fearing the frosts. And it's quite unusual that we're still in in fear of frost at this time of the the bloody year. But this is how it is. Um, we're just going to put all the ties out the greenhouse cuz Debbie needs to get her tomatoes in and uh and we need to crack on like basically. So, we're going to chuck them out doing the bottom there. Stick some fleece with top of them and that'll be that for the T80s this year. If we get another frost, well, it's just tough luck. We'll just have to tough it and see what happens.
But let's carry on. It's far too many potato buckets. It's knocked us up and uh you know we need spring chickens out.
So we'll get on with that.
I bet you're pleased all them are gone.
Why?
>> Being evicted, folks. That's it. They're not coming back in this year. What a carry on we've had.
I'll put it down to someone too soon.
I'll put it down to come back off holiday too soon. And all that's getting bored and too excited. We should have been in Thailand till beginning of April and that would have stopped us sewing seeds and too many potatoes. So the key the way the moral of the story is go on holiday for a bit longer.
That right D.
>> Yeah. And come back at the right time.
>> Come back too soon.
I've decided the tomatoes is going in.
I was twirl my tomatoes up string. But there was one year I didn't have any of this proper string. String string I call it that.
And I use this where that's no good for twining tomatoes up cuz when that's in the soil it rots and I always tie a loop. I'll show you the loop but I tie a loop under the roots and then I string it up and once the roots roots grow into the ground it holds that string in. This is good. That's not.
I've just been out there on the roads.
I'm not what it's like where you live, but it's getting worse around your mind.
I live next to a busy main road. Me and Deb and half the time, especially at this time when the schools come out, there's a school right next to her. Then there's a garage further along. Then there's another school. Then they're building a supermarket in between them two schools. And then there's a roundabout.
And all the traffic from all over the place everywhere comes around that run the boot. And I tried to avoid it at all costs around about half between four and half ass. I mean between four and six to be honest with you and I got stuck in it or four. All I wanted was a bar of string for Debbie. And do you know how long it's took us to date? Half an hour.
And then I was stuck in Home Bargains. I only had three bars of string and somebody was getting a weekly shop in in front of us and I was like how where man at least put another till on do you know what I mean? There was two tills sitting empty.
I never know what's come like but I remember a time when I was a young where it wasn't like this there was ne hardly any traffic on the road unless I'm just you know I'm just fantasizing that's what it was like. I don't know to be honest, but I do remember life being slower when I was a kid. You know, I could be wrong, but I do know for a fact there was a lot less vehicles on the road. And you could say I could say it myself. Well, you're on the road is real cluttering the place up. I That's true.
But I we own two or three vehicles, you know.
Anyway, I'm not going to get into logistics of it. I just thought I'd have a rant. I'm I'm knackered after that. I just, you know, it's stressful going shopping these days. I don't know. I'm glad to be back at the the whole point of it is I'm glad to be at the a lotment out the way of all of that because it's chaotic. What 100 yards away from us?
Chaos rains with the roads and that and you kind of get the junctions and you you n I'm having a winge. But uh I I do me best to avoid that type of thing especially at this time tea time. Anyhow I know why I said that but hey just s your tin and calm dune all is well or that's getting the tomatoes in and I didn't have to come back and eat and put bloody cloth on them titties anyway. So that's a good one. I'm not being a W.
Well, yeah, I'm being a winger, I suppose. But, you know, let us know in the comments if you feel the same. Or am I just an old get new? I think I'm just an old get I know some people will think they're very close together, but I don't. The way I look at it is if I had grow bags on here, I would I've always getting 12 in. I was all I've always had 12 plants in here. So, I've put 12 plants in. And the way I see it is you have to make use of your space. I would love to have them further apart, but I cannot. And I find the still grow. As long as I've got plenty of root space, that's fine. So, I'm happy as I I've got them in. I just need to get all this shifted now.
>> This in out malarkey driving us crazy. It's >> shaking all about.
>> Right now I've got a bit more space. I'm thinking if I jiggle these about a bit, I can actually make some more space. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to put things together.
I think I might put on here what I'm going to give away and then I can see what I'm keeping. So, I'm going to get this done. Right. In fact, no. I tell you what, I'm going to put marag golds.
Going to put these onto here cuz these are going to be getting hardened off soon.
I've done a little bit of jiggling. Oh, they need hold on.
A little bit of jiggling. I think once these sun I think it's the sunflowers, sunflowers, tomatoes, and potatoes that's really hindered it in here. But if I had a poly tunnel, that wouldn't have happened. But it has. Once these go out and once the tomatoes go out, then I'll be able to have a look to see what else I can. So well 40 wies rain stopped clear as you can hear. I can't even hear myself talk.
Got me can hear >> just you.
>> It's like a mumbling like a mumbly >> Anita.
>> I've got these all ready for you.
There's about 18 there. I hope you want about 18. And if you want more than 18, you can have them. So, I'll see you at the weekend. Anyway, >> that's one of our lovely subscribers.
>> She left a Guinness window open apparently and killed all left the window open and killed them. Uh, not good. But hey, life is content to the rescue.
Debbiey's she always does it. She sws too many anyway. So, she's always got to give some away. So, Anita, you're more than welcome, Minnie. We've got a We've got a new plot neighbor as well. I'm going to offload some hopefully as a goodwill gesture. I'm going to say, "Would you like some tomato plants?" So, I'm going to give me plot neighbor some if they want them.
>> All right. I would just like to say seed snails are fantastic.
They are absolutely loving this and they're fine as you can see. So I will be using seeds. Oh, this is too bloody loud now, isn't it?
>> I might go pick it up.
>> So they're looking lovely. I just need some nice summer weather, which to be honest, I know it's cold at the minute, but it's May. It's the middle of May. I wouldn't have planted these out at this time anyway. I think I've just sewed them too soon. And then the seed the seed um what they called root trainers.
They were brilliant and that's why I've getting brilliant corn. So, I will use the root trainers again and I will use seed snails, but I'll maybe do it two or 3 weeks later. Then I haven't got this problem where things need to go out. But the color of these is changing. I can see when they start getting depleted of nutrients to go yellow like that tomato plant there.
But that tomato plant once it gets some nutri lovely green color. The thing about tomatoes as well, I find you can be cool with them.
>> Oh my, >> you know, you can be tough. They're quite you can chuck them about and they'll just grow anywhere. But it's the cold that gets them. But once they get planted in nice soil, they just go woof a bit like these.
Anyway, we came, we conquered, we did what we had to do with my friends. The ties is out. We're going to put a little bit of fleece around them.
>> I've put only ties out. I have hardened them off. I think nine buckets, but the five huge buckets, I haven't hardened them off. But I find sometimes I haven't got time to be hardening things off all the time. It's do or die. And then five buckets of do or die. But I am going to get the fleece, which I've got ready.
I'm going to wrap it around and wrap them up with fleece. So that's the way I'm working. Not everybody has the time to be putting things in, out, in, out.
And I haven't. We haven't. But five buckets is going to be just chucked out.
Get on with it. The other nine have been hardened up. I'm still doing the wrapping, please flee.
>> All right. Right. We'll love you and leave you and we'll see you on the next one. Thanks for liking, subscribing, sharing, all the rest of it.
>> Hype. Don't forget to hype.
>> And uh we'll see you on the next one.
I'm the wy windy moss. We roll and fall in green.
You had a temper like my jealousy too hard to breed.
And I need to when I needed to possess you. I hated you. I loved you too.
Bad dreams in the night.
Told me I was going to lose the fight.
Leaving home. My weathering weathering weathering height. Seat cliff. It's me Kathy. I come home now. So go ho ho. Let me into your window. Wo ho. Eat cliff.
It's me a Kathy. Come on now. So go ho ho ho. Let me into your window.
Eat cliff. It's me, Kathy. I can't hold my tongue.
>> Thank you. Thank you, husband.
