Pingβs clinical detachment while handling a lethal predator perfectly illustrates how intellectual mastery can transform a life-threatening crisis into a mere data point. It is a sophisticated display of professional composure that values education over sensationalism.

Deadly Snake At Her Horse StablesAdded:
What is up? What is good? And what is going on everybody? And welcome to another video.
We are heading over to the suburb of Tokai, which is about half an hour from where I stay on the Atlantic Seaboard for a suspected puff adder at a stable yard. The lady has given me a call. She said she's watching the snake. It's hiding behind a water fountain. So, it should be fairly straightforward. Um which is fortunate cuz it's probably take me about half an hour to get there.
Guys, I just want to say thank you so much for supporting on the videos. If you're enjoying the channel, please remember hit the like button, hit the subscribe button. Drop me a comment below. I'd love to hear from you guys.
But, uh you guys know the drill by now.
As soon as we get there, I'm going to strap on the GoPro and we're going to take you guys along for the ride.
Am I in the right place?
>> [laughter] >> Hi, there. Sorry it took me so long. I mean Is it over here? Yeah.
Okay.
Okay, cool.
Okay, cool. Just a little one.
This will be fairly easy. Can I just close this door quickly?
>> [laughter] >> Oh, he's already quite upset.
Was it Was it behind you the whole time or was it somewhere else?
Okay.
We'll get him out. There's our little puff adder just squeezed up on here.
Let's pull him out quickly.
I'll pull him out. I'll bring him here just so you guys can have a look, but he is Yeah, he's quite small. So, it'll be fairly fairly straightforward.
Here we go.
Yeah, he's just a little one.
And it's a little um it's a little male.
So, the males have got quite a long tail. You can see the tail starts about there and it goes all the way to the end.
Whereas if it was a female of this size, it would be about half the size.
Um and obviously the Yeah, the tail in the females is much shorter. Um with the males, obviously the tail houses the reproductive organs.
So, it's much longer.
No, this is still a like a really small one. This This one's probably not even probably not even a year and a half old.
He's still Yeah, so they have the exact same venom, but they just have smaller amounts. But, the problem is with things like puff adders, the venom is so potent. Even a tiny drop, you can lose a finger.
Yeah. Um they do kill a lot of people across Africa, but not so much sort of in the southern parts cuz we have good medical care. You know, so you get bitten, you go to hospital.
Co- Compare Com- compared to when I say good medical care, compared to central and West Africa where by getting bitten by a non-lethal snake can actually land up Yeah. So, yeah. Any Any hospital that has a trauma unit. So, they'll be able to stabilize you and if they don't have antivenom, they will get antivenom.
But, obviously I would recommend uh not going to your local public hospital.
Yeah.
But, I just No, you guys are fine. I'm just going to grab a quick video of him just performing.
Yeah, you can imagine at this size, he's so vulnerable because everyone wants to eat him, you know?
Yeah.
Let me get him before he goes on a run.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah. But, if you guys are all happy, I'll put him in his little tube. And then what what I'll do is Yeah, I'll just find a safe They are. They've got beautiful sort of the chevron patterns. And you can imagine, obviously I mean if it's tucked away in the grass like that, you would never see it. You walk right past it. I mean, you could stand right next to it.
And you people often think, you know, snakes are just out there to bite you. I mean, if he wanted to, he would have. You know what I mean?
Often if you startle a snake, you know, it much like a dog or a cat, if you accidentally stand on their tail, it might just give you a little nip.
But, snakes are much the same. I'm just going to We obviously don't want to stress it out any more than we need to. So, we don't you I'll never grab it behind the head and pop it in. So, we just coerce him in there.
Yeah, so Yeah, so the obviously the value of the pop is it's nice and dark. So, he thinks it's a little hidey hole. So, often they just climb straight in.
So, as long as it's secured, >> [laughter] >> I'll find a safe spot like back in the park just to release him away from all the houses.
Guys, a lot of people have been asking me, how do we join the channel memberships? Right next to the subscribe button or subscribe as it should say if you're watching the video, click the join button. And then it allows you to join the channel memberships, access to exclusive videos, and help support me and the channel.
So, guys, that was a quick and easy call. Um crazy part is it took me 25 minutes to get there. It's going to take me 25 minutes to get home.
And I'll probably spend 10 minutes Well, just obviously getting to this place in the veld and then releasing the snake.
So, puts it into perspective. These call outs take a significant amount of time.
Um but, let's open up the tube, give you a look at this little puff adder.
He is really small.
Like I was saying to these people, he's probably a year and a bit old. He's not very old at all. Um you can see he's quite cold now.
Um putting it out in the sun, he'll probably get his life together once he realizes that he's free and he's on the go. You can see just how beautiful those chevrons are on the body.
And just how well he actually blends in to this environment.
I switched up for my miniature ASI tongs. Much better to deal with these small snakes. Um with the proper size equipment really. Um snakes like this are super delicate. So, you do need to be extremely cautious and uh just treat them with a lot of There's no reason to rush around um jumping and screaming and then potentially injuring a snake that you're trying to you're trying to rescue really. So, it looks like this puff adder is going to start going on his way.
Um and just I know everyone asks, but this is obviously a puff adder. They have a potent cytotoxic venom. They are found all across Africa, right from the southern tip here in and around Cape Town all the way up through in isolated populations um all the way up into Morocco. Um and all the way up there. Um but, let's let's get this little guy on his way.
And then he can get out and I can get back to hopefully getting a few more calls. Guys, thank you so so much for watching. And as always, I'll catch you right on the next one.
