Crews were called to Frankfort after the odor spread with reports also in Tinley Park. Fire officials say they left the scene once Nicor Gas arrived. They later learned it was not a gas leak, but a spill of the foul-smelling chemical that is added to natural gas. No evacuations were ordered.
