Old World VS New World: Map Namesakes

So, New England in the US, which is this area of the US as you can see, was obviously named after England and comparatively in terms of size, they're really similar. Do you know, this is stupid, but little tiny Wales, I've never considered the fact that little tiny Wales is the namesake of New South Wales in Australia. That's so obvious, but I just don't link the two at all.

[00:00:23]And it's so crazy to think that this is derived from that with like all the millions of people that live here. And I did not know that Nova Scotia over in Canada was named after Scotland. That's mad. I mean, you can see it when you break down the word. Then we've got Hampshire, which I mean, Hampshire, no one thinks about Hampshire in the UK. I couldn't even point to Hampshire on a map, but New Hampshire feels so much more famous over in the US. And then we've got one that's not British Isles related. We've got Netherlands. So, Zealand, Netherlands, a small area of the Netherlands is what ended up naming the entirety of New Zealand. History and the the knock-off effects that things have are just like mental to think about, aren't they?
