BEHIND THE THRILLS - DREAMWORLD THEMEPARKAdded:
Hey guys, Shane for Jacks Journeys. I'm here today at Dreamworld Theme Park in the Gold Coast here for the second annual behind the thrills theme park cartel enthusiasts event.
Again, if you listen to the theme park cartel podcast, you'll know that we have these events annually. So our last event was Aussie World this time last year and this year is obviously here at Dreamworld and we've got about 30 people here on today's event. So everyone is looking forward to this and this is stuff that you can't do as a paid guest.
You have to buy a ticket and we sold out all our tickets.
So today's video is all about our behind the thrills experience here at Dreamworld. [music] Anyway, let's go and check it all out.
So why don't you come along with me and join the journey?
>> [music] >> Jacks Journeys >> [music] [music] >> Dreamworld All right, so first off we're going over [music] to Steel Taipan and we've got some exciting things planned that you don't get to do as a guest. So let's go check it out at Steel Taipan.
>> [music] >> And obviously we're here early in the morning before the parks open hence why we all have high-vis [music] vests on and it's really important because there's I guess before the park opens there's vehicles going around and there's all sorts of things happening. So um we're here probably a couple of hours before park open.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> I can feel Yeah. I can feel I can feel I can >> [music] >> feel you with my closed eyes.
I can see I can I can [music] see you with my closed closed eyes.
You got the finest You got the finest >> [music] >> I can see I can I can see you with my closed closed eyes.
I can I can I can see you with my closed closed >> [music] [music] >> I can see I can >> [music] >> I can see you with my closed closed eyes.
I can I can I can see you with my >> [music] >> closed >> [music] [music] >> I can see you.
I can see you.
I [music] can see you [singing] with my closed closed eyes.
I can see you.
I can see you.
I can see you with my closed [music] closed eyes.
I can see you.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right, so now we're in Steel Taipan maintenance bay and we're actually going to be completely under the Steel Taipan. Let's check it out.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right, so now we're about to go into the right envelope of the Steel Taipan.
No one ever gets to go in here. So, the uh train's been locked out, and we're going in.
>> [music] [music] >> All right, so we're actually going to go through now to the tunnel uh where the Steel Taipan goes through after the first drop. Uh again, we're in the right envelope here. Uh this is something you don't normally get to do.
So, this is pretty cool.
Let's go check it out.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> How cool is this? I'm in the tunnel of Steel Taipan.
I mean, you never get to do this.
Maybe you should come along to the next theme park cartel enthusiast event. You get to do cool stuff like this.
How awesome.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> It is really cool to get this close to the Steel Taipan coaster track.
Every single bolt has like a marking for the torque. So if the little marking is out then obviously they know that that bolt needs to be re-tightened or replaced essentially. And depending on the frequency, sometimes there's daily bolt checks. Sometimes there's weekly or monthly or even annual bolt checks depending on where it's located on the whole entire roller coaster.
>> [music] >> I'll tell you what, it's certainly cool to be here in the right envelope. I mean if you followed my channel for a while, you'd remember that I followed the construction of Steel Taipan since the very beginning of the very first piece that was put in essentially.
So yeah, this is really cool and pretty incredible.
>> [music] >> All right, so we're just heading to King Khans now.
Some people here haven't had a chance to ride King Kong yet, so they're going to check it all out and Wilson going to get a tour through from the project manager and all the little Easter eggs are going to all be explained as well.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right, so he's going to say big thanks to Shane boys for giving us information and about the backstory behind King Kong.
Uh now everyone's going to get to ride King Kong. Again, the park hasn't opened yet. We're still here before before 10:00 a.m. So, I think the park opened about 25 minutes.
>> [music] >> All right, these guys are about to ride on King Khla. Excited? Yeah. Yeah.
King Khla.
>> [music] >> Everyone's pumped for King Khla.
Absolutely excited for King Khla. Very excited. You're excited.
You can do it.
You can do it. You can do it.
All right.
All right, wave everybody. Someone's going to be a screamer. Yeah.
All right.
Everyone's here to ride King Khla.
Who excited?
Yeah.
>> [music] >> Excited? Who's excited?
Yeah.
>> [music] >> All right.
I'm going to go down and film these guys.
I'll film you doing 90 k an hour through the station.
Awesome.
Have fun and enjoy.
Hey guys, so this is the operator room of King Khla.
So you don't normally get to see in here. They've got all the CCTV so they can keep a track of everything.
Obviously they've got all the all the stats on the ride there.
And yeah, this is pretty pretty cool being here.
Absolutely.
And some of the Easter eggs you might find in here is some stickers.
You never know what other stickers you might find here at King Khla.
That is.
>> [music] [music] >> YEAH.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> AND HOW WAS IT? GREAT, thank you. Great?
Great, super great. Great?
Loved it?
>> [laughter] >> Awesome. Thank you, feel alive. It was good? Ah, yeah. Next time. Next time.
All good? Good ride. Great ride. Great ride.
Awesome, loved it? Awesome. How was it?
Really good. Excellent.
How was it? Epic as always. Epic as always.
All good? Awesome. Good? Yeah.
How was it?
It was good. All right, so some of the guys are going for a second ride and some of them also doing a little bit of on-ride filming as well. Something else we've got to do for this event.
>> [music] >> All right, we're heading back at house now and we're heading to engineering but uh because it's back at house and in engineering they're not allowing us to film in there, which is fair enough. One hour later.
All right, so we just finished our uh engineering workshop uh tour, which was really cool, really interesting, lots of questions were asked as well. Again, we couldn't film in there, but this is a part of the business that you don't normally get to see and uh like lots of chassis of roller coasters being worked on all that kind of thing.
So, very interesting and uh big thanks to Jeremy uh for taking us through there. It was It was incredible. All right, so we're actually going to head through Tiger Island now and uh walk down to James Rivertown restaurant for lunch and uh we're actually going to have a Q&A with the CEO Greg Young.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Oh, there we go. HEY. HEY.
EXCELLENT.
>> [applause] >> CONGRATULATIONS.
HEY. HEY.
CONGRATULATIONS. That's actually from the old coal ride, so there you go. Wow, man. Congrats.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right, so we just finished with the Q&A with the CEO Greg Yong and big thank you to Greg Greg Yong for taking time out to speak to the group today. We got a lot out of it and also we had lunch as well from James Rivertown restaurant which is always good. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well.
But yeah, heaps of questions and that was great. Some awesome questions there for the CEO and he really took his time to give us some some really insightful answers. So yeah, really big thank you again. We thoroughly enjoyed that session.
All right, for the next part of our event we are now at Wet'n'Wild and obviously it's a seasonal water park so the park is closed currently for the winter months. Reopens again in September. We got a chance now to again look behind the thrills. There's a huge amount of maintenance goes on at a water park.
Pump maintenance, ride maintenance, conveyors like here conveyors that take the tubes up all that kind of thing. And obviously all the water is drained out of the pools and we're actually going be able to go into the wave pool now, Cave of Waves, with no water.
So we're going to check that out.
This is cool.
>> [music] [music] >> Please turn off your cell phones and remain seated.
And check this out. I'm actually in the wave pool with no water. Like, when can you get to do that?
Only if you come and do one of our events. That's That's how. But, how cool is this?
Uh and this is where, down here, is where all the waves get made in behind there.
And obviously, this is the the 1-m depth point right here.
How cool is this?
>> [music] >> All right, guys. So, one of the cool things that we included for the event today was spinning seats on a Steel Taipan here. So, a lot of people hadn't done the spinning seats before, so they got the chance to have a go on the spinning seats on that. Also, we had express for the rides. So, ride express for the afternoon, uh which is pretty cool. So, everyone got to ride all the rides without having to wait in the queues, as well, as part of the experience for our enthusiast event.
Pretty cool.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> All right, guys. So, that's going to do it from the Theme Park Car Tail podcast second annual theme park enthusiast event here at Dreamworld in the Gold Coast. Again, last year's was Aussie World.
We had 20 people at that one. Everyone enjoyed that. Today at the Dreamworld event, we had 33 of us here and the feedback we've got is everyone had an amazing day and I just want to say a big thanks to everyone from Dreamworld who was involved with putting on today for us.
We really appreciate your time and the information you gave us was amazing and everyone got a lot of good value out of today. So we really appreciate it and we appreciate it everyone who attended today and I came along and enjoyed it.
If you did miss out on this one, again, the annual event, so you'll have to stay tuned to the Theme Park Hotel Podcast or Jag's Journeys on YouTube and I'll let you know when next year's event will be held once we announce that in the months ahead. Anyway, if you enjoyed this video, make sure you give it a like.
Also, make sure you subscribe to Jag's Journeys on YouTube to keep the journey going. Anyway, guys, thanks for watching and I'll see you on the next journey.
