Babylon, located on the Mesopotamian plain, served as the cradle of civilization where nearly every foundation of modern society was established, including writing, law, astronomy, the 60-minute hour, the 360° circle, the wheel, and the first written stories; despite the physical destruction of its iconic structures like the Tower of Babel and Hanging Gardens, the stories and knowledge from this civilization have endured through clay tablets and historical records, demonstrating how cultural and intellectual legacies can outlast physical monuments.

Evolution of Babylon | Fixed-Camera Timelapse: 4326 Years of the Tower of BabelAjouté :
Welcome [screaming] to evolution time lapse from a single fixed camera watch 4326 years of Babylon the cradle of civilization from an empty Mesopotamian plain to the city of Hammurabi the Hanging Gardens the Tower of Babel and beyond.
>> Thank you for watching this journey through 4,326 years of Babylon. When I started researching this video, one thing kept astonishing me. Nearly every foundation of modern civilization was laid right here, on this single patch of Mesopotamian plain.
Writing, law, astronomy, the 60-minute hour, the 360° circle, the wheel, the first stories ever written down.
All of it, here.
Every event you just witnessed was cross-checked against primary historical sources.
Cuneiform tablets from the British Museum and the Louvre, the Babylonian Chronicles, Herodotus, Berossus, the Hebrew Bible, the records of Robert Koldewey's German excavations, modern UNESCO documentation, and the Iraqi State Board of Antiquities. The visuals were generated using artificial intelligence, but every date and event behind them is real. What strikes me most is what survived. The Tower of Babel is gone. The Hanging Gardens are gone. Hammurabi's empire, Nebuchadnezzar's empire, Alexander's empire, all gone.
But the stories endure. We are still reading clay tablets written by people who walked this plane 4,000 years ago.
If this video meant something to you, please consider subscribing. Next time on Evolution Timelapse, we travel to another place where the oldest roots of human civilization still echo. Until then, keep looking up and keep wondering.
