This video examines how Pastor Greg Locke handled the tragic death of his 20-year-old son Evan from an overdose, demonstrating that even those who disagree with a pastor's ministry should show compassion during family grief. The video highlights Locke's inclusive approach by welcoming former church members and his ex-wife to Evan's celebration of life service, and his message about forgiving quickly and loving deeply with family members. The content emphasizes that addiction recovery is a challenging journey requiring patience and support, and that believers should prioritize unity and prayer over criticism when someone experiences loss.

Pastor Greg Locke Shares FINAL MESSAGE Received From Son Evan Before His PassingAdded:
Let's talk about it. Pastor Greg Lockach, whether you like him or you don't like him or you fall somewhere in the middle, if you are a believer, then you should pray for him and his family as they mourn the loss of his son, Evan Lockach.
It's one thing that I've always been consistent on. Those that watch me on a regular basis, they'll tell you, "Will I criticize some of these pastors? Will I call out things about their ministry that are not right?" Absolutely.
But there's never there's never anything about it that is ever meant to see, you know, and I and I've seen others do this where something horrible will happen to a family and there are people who call themselves Christians and they celebrate it.
I I have seen that with Greg Lock making the announcement about his son Evan.
People are are just they're they're laughing at it. They think it's it I don't understand that. I don't understand what would you want someone doing that to you because I just I I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that people who claim to be followers of Christ are are celebrating a man whether you believe he should be a pastor or not. celebrating the fact that he lost his son.
It's It's disgusting.
It's disgusting in every way.
I I'm someone that used to really enjoy the teachings of Greg Lockach and over the years and I and I've shared this before. I I believe that he has really gone down a wrong path for many different reasons. Okay, many different reasons.
But again, we are called to pray for those in need.
That's what I've been doing for Lock's family, and I hope that's what you've been doing as well.
Now, the announcement came, and I got I got a lot more to say on this. The announcement came from Greg Lockach on Friday, May 8th, that his 20-year-old son, Evan Lockach, passed away. And Lach was very transparent about the cause. He said that it was an overdose and that he would have more information to share on Sunday, May 10th. Think about that. Two days. And again, whether you like Greg Lock or you don't.
Two days after this man loses his son, he's back in his pulpit, continuing on.
That's not easy to do.
It would, you know, and no matter what job you have, whatever it is that you do to just go, right? I mean, you know, there's companies they offer you bereavement time. you lose someone and it depends on the relationship and how much time you get but a lot of them will get multiple days sometimes a week block goes right back to it so you have to respect him for that what I want to get into here is what he said during the Sunday May 10th service because not only did he share share a little bit more about Evan, but he also announced the celebration of life service and he revealed some other things as well that I found very interesting.
We're going to cover all of that for you here in just a second. But before we do, I would like to welcome all of you to Not by Sight News. Let's talk about it.
Sunday, May 10th, it was Mother's Day.
Just think about how hard that was for Evan's mom. Now, of course, Evan is the son of Greg and his first wife, Melissa.
So, incredibly hard for her having to hear the news 2 days before Mother's Day that her 20-year-old son had passed away. Now, for those of you that may not have heard the initial announcement, Greg Lockach had posted on social media on Friday, May 8th, that he had just received word a couple of hours before that his son Evan's heart had stopped.
They could not revive him and that it was due to an overdose. And it has been widely known that Evan has had his struggle with addiction. He had been in and out of different treatment centers for a very long time.
There are many individuals who were paying their respects to Evan after the news came out. And I'm talking about a lot of people, and we'll we'll touch on this more here in a little bit, but many families that even used to attend Global Vision Bible Church, they may have had a falling out with Greg Lockach, but they really cared about Evan and they were there and they had witnessed his struggles and all that he had gone through and they were really rooting for him. And so many of them were paying their respects. There were even pastors I saw tributes from even pastors who disagreed with Greg Lockach maybe on everything even. But they were nice enough to put those differences aside and say they were going to lift up this man and his family in prayer. And and that's just maturity, right? that that's just showing again that you can put all the other stuff to the side and and even if you never agree on whatever relating to doctrine and all these different things, you you can still count on the fact, this is the one thing I always stress.
I if nothing else with believers, if we cannot come together and pray for those in need, I we've just lost it at that point. And and it's sad because again, there are there are people that I I have seen it. They were commenting on the videos that I was talking about when I first talked about this. Just trashing this man. Just horrible. Horrible.
Again, you wouldn't want someone doing that, you know, to you or your family.
So, I I don't know why people put that out there. I I I just I don't get that.
You know, I again, I haven't agreed with Greg Lockach. I I've been very critical of him for many different reasons. And look, that doesn't change because of this. But I can again set certain things aside and lift up this this man and his family in prayer. And also hopefully Lock will repent of things that he needs to and and and maybe he can, you know, get it right.
That of course is up to him. But we again just had all these tributes coming in from you know various individuals across social media you know pastors and different friends and those who knew Evan and used to attend Global Vision. That was nice to see.
So again on Sunday May 10th Greg Lock gets up there in front of the congregation.
He had a very I thought a very good message and again having to preach after this has all happened just two days later that I mean that says a lot. That's again that's not going to be easy for anybody to do. But Lock had this one simple message and that was forgive quick love deep especially you know relating to parents out there. If you have a son or a daughter, no matter what your dispute may be, forgive quick. Love deep.
Talk often on the phone, in person. Just hold on to every single bit that you can with your loved ones. There might be some of you watching right now and you might be a parent and maybe you have a quarrel or a dispute with either your son or daughter.
And look, what Lock is saying here is absolutely true, right? Things can happen that you wouldn't expect and it it just it changes everything.
Perspective comes in.
you look at things a lot different.
And he's right. I 100% agree with him.
Are disputes and stuff like that going to come up? Absolutely.
But at the end of the day, is it really worth it? Right.
So, Greg Lock shared a a final message that he received from his son Evan. Now, this was just 24 hours before Evan would pass away. Now, for those of you that do not know, and Greg shared this during the service, Evan had been clean for about the last eight months. Now, he of course and and Lock said this during this the sermon that Evan had gone in and out of many different, you know, just a whole bunch of different treatment centers over the years. He would get clean, he'd slip up again, he'd get clean again, and it would just sort of, you know, go back and forth. It's a struggle. Again, for anybody that knows about addiction, you know, if you're a parent, you have a son or daughter that's battled that, you understand that, you know, they can get clean and then it can just, you know, they can easily fall right back into it again.
So, Greg Lock shared that the day before he received a screenshot from Evan and it was of a a message. It was a conversation that he was having with a woman named Nancy in California who had a treatment facility out there that Evan was thinking about going to.
And this was a lengthy program. It was about 14 months is what what Lach had said.
And Greg had told him, he says, you know, son, you have to figure, you know, you have to figure this out about what you need to do to, you know, sort of better your life and to really be able to to move forward.
And as far as whether or not Evan was going to go to this facility or not, Greg Lock said that the last message that he got from Evan the day before was, "Dad, I have no clue. I have no clue what I want to do or what I should do about whether or not he should go to that treatment facility or not."
And Greg Lock said that was it.
That was the last message.
And he also shared that Evan had been recently back at home with them. He was he was there with them for a couple of months through through Christmas. And he said that was that meant a lot for him being there.
So what he did was he took the last message, that final message from Evan, and he put it into his sermon, like with Evan saying, "Dad, I have no clue about what I should do." So Lock's sermon was about what to do when you don't know what to do and how God can really come in there and and intervene and show you in those times. Lock also went on to talk about that for any parents out there, this is the worst grief that you could, you know, possibly ever have.
And that's everything that he's feeling right now. He then talked about, now this was this was interesting. Now, and I've shared before that it's no secret there are many families, many individuals who have left Global Vision Bible Church over the years for many different reasons. Okay? There have been whistleblowers who have come out. There have been some individuals that have come out and put their names out there.
Okay?
and you know for all different reasons about why they had a fallout with Lockach you know and his wife Tai okay all these things and you know we know Lock's personality he's direct to say the least but Greg Lockach did say that he has had numerous people reach out to him since the news of Evans passing and they have asked him if it would be okay for them to come and attend the celebration of life service because he again addressed them as former members because if they're not in, you know, going to be welcome, then they don't want to show up. But he told them absolutely you are welcome to show up here. He let the congregation know because you might see some people show up here that, you know, maybe he had a falling out with or that, you know, you might not expect.
But he said, "Welcome them, love them, respect them. If you can't do that, then just don't say anything to them."
Greg Lock said that Evan would want them to be there because like I told you, Evan was very close with a lot of those former members at Global Vision and a lot of the ones who are still there. So he said, "Expect to see that." Now, he also said that that morning his wife Tai received a message. Now, he did not reveal who these people were, but he said that he received a message or his wife Ty received a message from individuals who used to go to the church, which Greg Lock said he was shocked about this. They he he called it they sort of fell on their their sword and were asking for forgiveness and had realized that they were wrong for some things that they had done. Now, we don't know what those were. I I don't know who it is. He didn't reveal it. he might reveal it in time. But they had asked for forgiveness.
And Lock said, "Absolutely, they're forgiven." Now, I know what some people are going to say that, "Well, Lock should ask for forgiveness. He should be the one that asks for forgiveness to former members that that he hurt. It shouldn't just be that, well, we're, you know, we'll welcome them back because of Evan, but, you know, Greg's not going to do his part. Here's what I'll say. I get that.
Maybe oneon-one he will do that. Okay.
Th this whole thing may change him. And I don't know, maybe it doesn't. I hope it does.
I hope this will soften him a little bit. I hope that it will, like he said, put a lot of things into perspective about what's most important.
Is that going to be, you know, the moment now for Greg Lock? Time will tell, but the fact is he is willing to allow certain individuals to come attend the celebration of life. Okay? And a lot of people would have probably said he probably there's there's no way he would allow that, right? He's just too he's too harsh. He's angry. All these things.
He's saying anyone anybody who wants to come is welcome. Whether they're a former member or not, they're welcome.
and he's telling his congregation, be respectful and love them. So that's big of him to do. You got to get Look, let me tell you something. We can't be so jaded and I get it. People are going to like you of all people are say I'm telling you guys because it don't do you no favors. Let me be the first to tell you. You cannot be so jaded to the point where just you just scowl at every single person. If if CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS, ESPECIALLY IN MINISTRY, because this is the goal, hear me on this. if they're willing to take a step to show maybe just a little bit of change. C can we not give them a little bit of credit for that? Do we have to be so jaded that that even in times like this where they lose a loved one, we just have to continue to just shovel dirt on them? I I I just Come on.
Come on.
I bet there's a lot of people who are watching that probably never thought that he would even do this.
And here's another point I want to bring up because it was something else that he mentioned.
His ex-wife Melissa, she will be at the celebration of life service as well, which by the way is going to be taking place on Wednesday.
It'll be taking place on Wednesday, May 13th at Global Vision Bible Church. I believe Greg Lock said it would be at 7:00 p.m. and then they're going to have a a burial with just the the family and the close friends on the following morning, Thursday, May 14th.
But he brought up Melissa and he told the congregation, he says, "Look, this is Evan's mother and it's very hard for her right now." He said that there's no no hard feelings there between, you know, at least with him. I don't know how she feels, but he said that she will be there at the celebration of life service. She should be there, he said. And he encouraged everybody in the congregation to love her and to respect her when she comes, just like he did with letting everybody know that former members of Global Vision that may have left, you know, whether on good terms or bad, and I know a lot of them left on bad, but they will be showing up there as well. So, I thought that was good. I thought that was good that he, you know, told everybody to, you know, be, you know, treat her right.
Don't be, you know, again, this is his mother.
So Melissa will be there. And, you know, the way that he talked about it, he said they were sort of all together when the news came in about Evan. I'm not sure where they were. You know, Greg Lock talked about they still don't have, you know, all the information yet about an autopsy and the medical examiner and and who exactly drove Evan to the hospital.
That's all things that they're still figuring out. Um, and they'll find out in time. Uh, Lock wants to focus on, you know, looking, there's a lot of guilt he said that's been on him. And for anybody who doesn't know, Evan, you know, and a lot of former members will tell you this too, Evan loved his father. He really wanted to just be just like him. He wanted to impress him and, you know, he he had his struggles and it's just it's very sad. Another thing that Greg Lock mentioned was that there are going to be a lot of addiction ministries that are going to be on hand for the service as well. ones that were very much involved with Evan over the years. So they will be on hand for that.
And look, you know, thank those individuals because the work that they do is not easy. And you know, whether you're talking about people who are in ministry families or not, right, addiction can hit anybody. I mean, you're not immune just because you're in a you know, the family of a pastor. I mean sometimes to be honest with you I've seen this in a lot of churches that I have been a part of often times the ones who sadly fall into addiction more often than not are either the sons or the daughters of the pastors because there's a lot of pre you know there's a lot of pressure there. You're the son or the daughter of a pastor.
There might be some of you you out there right now who are, you know, they're called, you know, a PK.
So there there's a lot of pressure there to live right, live whole. And I know sometimes, you know, the pastors don't even do that, but you know, the expectations are very high. So those addiction uh recovery ministries are going to be on hand as well.
So, you know, where Greg Lock goes from here, you know, we'll just have to wait and see. Is it going to be sort of more of the same of what we have expected out of him or will we see sort of a a softening of his heart, a changing maybe of who he is? Remains to be seen.
But look, I again, my prayers to his family. I wish them nothing but the best. He also said to pray for the siblings because the grief that a sibling has to face he says is a lot different than you know one of the the father and the mother. So he encouraged everybody to keep them in prayer as well. So I just wanted to share that with all of you and right now I want to hear from you in the comments section. Uh, what do you think here about what Greg Lock had to say during his message about Evan, the final message from his son and the former members being invited and and his first wife Melissa, you know, sound off down below. May maybe you have someone that, you know, you have a son or daughter that has battled addiction and you would like to share about that. Maybe you attend Global Vision, maybe you used to attend Global Vision, maybe you'll be attending the Celebration of Life. patreon.com/notbysightnews link in the description, also pinned in the comments or simply hit the superth thanks button on the YT video here to make a contribution that way. It all helps us out. It's all appreciated and we can't do it without you. What I want to do right now, something I do on all these videos, and that's end this video on hope. It's part of my ministry outreach. This is an altar call. I've been doing this on my videos since 2016.
No matter what it is, I am discussing in the church. We always want to give people the opportunity to receive Christ as savior. That being said, anybody watching now, if you are someone who has not yet received Jesus as Lord and Savior, you would like to do so, I want to lead you in a prayer to do that right now. This is a prayer you can do in your own words, but I will give you the steps you need to bring it before the Lord today. First thing you want to do right off the top, acknowledge you are a sinner. That is something that we all are. The good news is that God gave his only son, Jesus Christ, to die on that cross for the sins of all the world as he died and rose again for you and me.
He paid the cost. What you have to do is repent of your sin. That means to turn from sin. Not just to say you're sorry and jump back to your old ways, but to actually turn from sin, which are those lifestyles, patterns, habits, behaviors, things in your life that go against the word of God. If you humbly go before the Lord though and ask him to forgive you, he'll wipe your sin away. Bible says he doesn't remember it any longer. And then you invite Jesus into your life to be your Lord and Savior. When you do that, you become born again, a child of God.
You will have eternal life. Trust me when I tell you there is no greater decision you will ever make than the one you do to give your life to Christ. And I pray you make that decision today.
Again, more info down below. Thank you all again so much for watching. I really do appreciate it. I'll be back with more. You guys take care. Please be safe out there. God bless each and every single one of you and I'll talk with you soon.
