Repairing ruptures in family relationships involves acknowledging problems, taking responsibility for one's part, engaging in collaborative communication, and both parties being willing to forgive and move forward; however, when one party refuses to repair, it can lead to feelings of rejection, and in cases of chronic abuse or manipulation, complete rejection may be necessary for self-protection.

What does it mean to repair the rupture with Family Rejection? #california #therapist #mentalhealthAdded:
Hey, Jim. What does it mean to repair the rupture in family rejection? The reality is that every relationship goes through cycles of what we think of as harmony, disharmony, and repair. But, not every relationship goes through the repair aspect of it. Many people, unfortunately, aren't able or willing to repair when there's been some kind of a rupture or a or a disagreement, discord.
And sadly, that sometimes ends up with with people, even in a family, rejecting one another because they they can't get past some slight or some disagreement.
Now, we're not talking about, you know, if you've lived in a family system where you've been chronically shamed, invalidated, abused, manipulated, sometimes we we need to reject that family system. We need to go no contact with them. But, sadly, I see this happen a lot where where people will disagree with somebody on social media about something and then one person would unfriend them and stop talking to them.
Or maybe there's a disagreement between two people who've had a relationship and one person tries to repair the rupture and another person can't. They are not willing or able to to move on. But, the repair part means acknowledging that there's been this problem that's come up, taking responsibility for your part in it, and hopefully both people can do that, and trying to move on from it. It means collaborative communication. It means both people being willing to forgive and move on. It means both people are willing to repair the rupture. They're they're willing to try to put things back together again. But, sadly, you know, many times that isn't the case and it can lead to feelings of rejection, which are incredibly powerful emotions.
