8 REAL Forest Encounters That Turned HORRIFYINGAñadido:
In these real encounters, calm outdoor moments suddenly turn dangerous and unknown.
A paramotor flight spirals into a devastating crash with life-threatening injuries, while deep in a foggy forest, something unnatural begins moving straight toward a camper from within the mist.
When everything changes that fast, what would you do in that moment?
On that crucial day, YouTuber Anthony Vella had been preparing for this moment for a very long time.
In a video uploaded on April 27th, 2024, he climbed into his paramotor personal flying vehicle and lifted into the air for a brief moment.
Everything felt exactly the way he had imagined it would.
Then, something changed, and the machine began behaving in ways he could no longer control.
The realization hit him quickly.
He was going to crash, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
He struck the ground hard.
48 mph. Come on, baby.
Oh.
Hey Siri, call 911.
Hey Siri, call 911. Call 911.
Emergency.
Ah. Ah. Ah.
>> [screaming] >> Lying there in severe pain, he called 911 and tried to explain what had happened and where he was located.
911 emergency. Help me, please. I crashed my flying machine.
Okay, where are you at, sir? Do you know where you are at? Uh, I'm in Shady Hills. I'm in the desert.
Okay, are you going to be in Are you in Texas? Yes. Yes, I'm by abundant living in the desert just to the east. And what was it that you crashed? Uh, a paramotor.
Do you need those precious? Let me get you transferred real quick. Give me 1 second, okay? Okay, please help. Do not hang up.
>> [screaming] >> He remained there for more than an hour waiting for paramedics to reach the scene.
Thankfully, a good Samaritan arrived just a few minutes after the crash and managed to remove the paramotor from him.
He was quickly stabilized but suffered a broken neck, back, and pelvis along with a shattered right arm.
It appears the crash was caused by a small tension knot that he failed to notice which caused the glider to collapse during mid-flight when it tightened. If the good Samaritan had not stopped or had only slowed down, noticed someone lying on the ground surrounded by wreckage, and decided it was too dangerous to approach, Anthony would have remained there in the field with a broken neck unable to move while the paramotor weighed down on him.
He would have been left alone for over an hour in an open field and that could have cost him his life before emergency crews even arrived. Maybe small details matter more than they appear and sometimes help comes from unexpected places. But what would have happened if nobody had stopped?
The fog in the forest started rolling in rapidly and before long something terrifying appeared to form inside it.
A woman named Dee, creator of the YouTube channel D's Dark Adventure went on a camping trip on January 26th, 2024.
She traveled deep into the dense woods of Ohio, bringing only her two loyal dogs, which she allowed to roam freely off leash.
What began as a peaceful escape into nature soon became a disturbing experience that made her question how far she had wandered into the wilderness.
Oh, that's rotted.
It's all rotten.
Gosh.
The first several hours were relatively normal.
Keeping up with two energetic dogs was not easy.
They constantly moved around guided by [music] instinct, chasing after things she could not even see.
D tried to keep them nearby unaware of the real danger lurking within the forest.
As she pushed through the thick underbrush, she heard a strange sound, something so unnatural that it genuinely unsettled her.
Oop.
See, I don't want to be going back this way either because I'm going to take them right to the swamp. Oh, there's so much fog.
That's all fog.
Okay.
Normal forest, right?
A little bit fog, a little lots of fog.
Oh my god. Okay, girls, stay with me.
Hold on.
Would you It sounded unlike anything she had ever heard before.
Then another noise followed that seemed even more unusual.
The dogs immediately sensed something was wrong.
They ran deeper into the woods as if tracking something unseen.
What made the situation worse was that the area where the sounds were coming from was covered in thick fog, while the rest of the forest remained completely clear.
It felt as though the forest itself was trying to hide whatever was inside.
Okay.
Yep.
Okay.
It's fine.
Why there's no fog?
None. But right there, tons of fog just in that circle. Look at it.
Trying to gather her courage, D moved farther in, speaking out loud to show she meant no harm.
But whatever was happening did not stop.
Suddenly, one of her dogs began walking directly toward the fog.
Their instincts seemed to pull them in, but D stopped them, refusing to let them disappear into the heavy mist.
Then, the fog suddenly started moving toward her quickly, like something from a horror movie.
I heard a bark, but I don't know if that was a dog or It sounded like a like a barking like Girls, stay close.
Mark.
From inside it came another disturbing sound.
And then she noticed something shifting within it, something unnatural.
See, there's something over there, dude.
I'm not taking them.
Something moving?
Dog, can you please, for a minute, come.
There's something Dogs, dogs, dogs, dogs, dogs.
Woo.
Yeah.
Let's go. Now.
We're leaving. Was it a person, an animal, or something else entirely.
She did not stay to find out.
Her safety came first.
D quickly left the area before the situation could become worse.
If there was one thing this camping encounter taught her, it is that being alone in the woods intensifies fear, turning every sound and every shadow into something truly terrifying.
Sometimes the forest seems quiet while something still feels wrong. And once you finally realize it is it already too late.
On February 1st, 2025, a man named Andre went on a solo camping trip deep inside a remote wilderness forest.
He later uploaded the footage to his YouTube channel Wild Happiness, where he documents his life in isolated, untouched environments.
He often spends time in the taiga living and traveling close to wild animals.
This time, he traveled far into the forest using a snowmobile.
Along the way, he demonstrated his ability to hunt small animals and prepare food out in the wild.
Once he reached his destination, [music] Andre set up his tent by carving space into the snow.
He placed a small stove inside to keep warm and began preparing food and hot tea.
As the night grew darker, he lay down to rest and appeared to fall asleep. Then suddenly, he heard movement outside.
At first, it sounded distant, but it slowly came closer.
Soon, there were soft cries and howling noises.
It quickly became clear that a pack of wolves was circling his campsite.
>> Andrei stepped outside to see what was happening.
The moment he realized how close the animals were, he quickly went back inside his tent.
He decided not to wait until morning.
Sometimes in places like this, even the smallest sounds can mean more than they seem, especially when nothing else is around.
What would you do if you realized you were not alone out there?
A trending clip from Mexico shows a chilling moment unfolding.
It started at a campsite deep in the forest where a group of friends began feeling an uneasy presence as though something was watching them nearby.
They heard odd noises and slowly realized they were not alone there.
Around their camp, they spotted strange tracks.
Wanting to investigate further, one of them attached a hunting camera to a drone and sent it into the air to scan the area above. After a few minutes, the operator saw a very tall figure moving between the trees with no light.
The footage shows the group gathered at their campsite. And as the drone descends, a disturbing silhouette appears in the distance, clearly watching them.
It was not one of their friends who had wandered off.
In places like this, even small signs can feel larger when everything is quiet.
So, what do you think was truly out there in the forest? [music] The account comes from Man Dog Wild, an outdoor bushcraft channel focused on solo wilderness camping [music] and deep forest exploration.
On April 12th, 2020, the creator traveled to a remote woodland area in the United Kingdom to spend the night alone.
Before he even finished building his shelter, he shared a local legend tied to that exact stretch of land.
Two hunters were said to have encountered a tall, dark figure partially hidden in the brush.
What made the story memorable wasn't just what they saw, it was what followed.
Both men reportedly experienced sudden, intense headaches at the exact same moment the figure was spotted just before it completely disappeared.
No proof, no confirmation, but enough to set the atmosphere.
He stayed anyway. So, I guess it would have been round about now, dusk, that uh uh hero would have encountered well, would have had that encounter.
Dusk, dawn, probably the creepiest times when out here in the wilderness. You know, things just look different. They do look different than during the day. I remember walking a trail once. I I I was walking it during the day, coming back at night, the trail looked completely different. Had me thinking, is that is this the is this the right way?
It's just going really windy all of a sudden.
We're going to be in for a bit of a breezy night.
Later that night, something changed.
Multiple lights appeared in the sky above him, moving together in a tight formation.
They were too far away to capture clearly on camera, but visible enough against the dark sky to get his attention.
His first thought was satellites, specifically Starlink, which seemed like a reasonable explanation at the time. I checked the Starlink tracker um this morning.
And according to that, it wasn't Starlink last night. And I've seen Starlink before, long line, lots of lights. Um this wasn't like that. This was a very much shorter line, maybe six, seven lights close together. The next morning, that idea didn't hold up.
He checked a satellite tracking tool to see what had been overhead during that period.
Nothing matched. No scheduled passes aligned with what he had observed, and the tight cluster of lights didn't fit the long, evenly spaced pattern typically associated with Starlink.
The explanation he had settled on no longer worked. The rest of the night itself had been quiet, wind-forest sounds, isolation.
Nothing approached.
Nothing moved on the ground.
But the focus of the experience had shifted upward because what he saw in the sky was the part that didn't have a clear explanation.
Not proven, not confirmed, just something [music] witnessed that didn't match what it was supposed to be. The Starlink theory was the most logical starting point, and even that didn't fit.
Something was up there that night, and the tracker showed nothing.
What do you think those lights were, and would you have stayed in that location after hearing the story about the hunters?
Ghost Theory are two explorers and paranormal investigators traveling across the UK looking for places known for unusual activity, aiming to distinguish fact from legend in each location visited closely.
The video was posted on April 12th, 2026.
The name might imply otherwise, but these two do not create scares.
Their approach focuses on careful exploration and historical context instead of reacting to every shadow, sound, or moving object.
In this specific video, though, they decided to camp in what many consider the most haunted forest in the UK, and what they encountered had nothing to do with the paranormal elements whatsoever.
We've just arrived here in this beautiful forest. And obviously, being the day, it's not so bad, but we're going to be exploring as far as to try and get to all the most haunted areas.
Epping Forest has stood here for thousands of years, once serving as a royal hunting ground for kings and nobles. This forest wasn't just a wilderness, it was dangerous. Outlaws used these woods as cover, disappearing into the trees after robberies along nearby roads. There have been so many places for people to hide. I mean, it still is currently 600 acres, but during Dick Turpin's time, this would have been more like 20,000. That's bigger than it is now.
>> [laughter] >> Epping Forest has existed for many thousands years.
It once served as a royal hunting ground used by kings and nobility during medieval times period.
This was never simply a quiet stretch of woodland. Outlaws, highwaymen, and smugglers used these trees as cover, slipping into the forest after committing robberies along nearby roads in the area. Darkness came on quickly.
Before long, the two were moving through the forest path in darkness, searching for a suitable place to pitch their tent and settle in for the night there.
Just heard what sounds like a bottle.
Um, did it sound like rustling?
Well, I mean, here is Yeah, yeah. very, very campsitey.
>> [laughter] >> It's so silent here. Do you know they say just everything dies here? Like the sound dies, things don't live, and it is just silent. It's been so noisy. Right.
That is bizarre, isn't it?
We got the campsite set up as quick as possible so that we could begin investigating straight away.
>> This is a time lapse, we're not actually that quick. Once camp was set up, they moved through the trees to check if anything out of the ordinary was happening.
They spent a considerable amount of time doing it.
Nothing stood out.
They made their way back to the tent to wind down, and that is when the atmosphere shifted.
That's 100% something else.
The red light was still on.
What was it?
Come on.
Is it recording? Yeah.
I'm going to turn my light on cuz Wow, that is Footsteps were heard right outside the tent.
They stepped outside to look around.
Nothing was visible.
Whatever had made the sound was either gone or no longer nearby, or so they assumed.
They switched on an infrared thermometer to scan the tree line for heat signatures there.
What appeared on the device was enough to make them both run.
Was that heat signatures in the water?
I don't know. It's just a log, isn't it?
Look.
Can you see Where is that? That's just across, literally straight across where the the lights were coming from.
Yeah, I think that's enough for me tonight.
>> Yeah. That is absolutely more than [ __ ] enough for me tonight. That's hm that's someone. That's that's not that's someone there.
Hello.
A figure of a man was visible behind a tree across from them, partially hidden watching.
The two immediately linked him to the footsteps they had heard circling the tent earlier.
The history of that forest made his presence feel far more threatening than it would elsewhere seem.
They grabbed their gear and cleared out without hesitation.
The possibility that the man tracked their movement all the way to the forest edge made everything worse overall situation.
Places like this carry real risk and the danger is not always the kind that legends warn you about. A man hiding in the dark watching two people at their tent is hard to explain as simple curiosity.
The forest has a long history of people using it to stay out of sight and that context does not make the sighting any less unsettling.
Do you think he was just a stranger passing through or was there something more deliberate about the way he was watching them?
This unsettling camping encounter comes from Rachel and Tommy, a US-based van life and wilderness exploration channel focused on real-time outdoor stays in remote rural locations.
It takes place in April 2025 in Southern Oklahoma, United States. Before anything begins, they reference a previous visit.
On that earlier trip, they described noticing movement behind the van while eating something they could not identify.
They also mentioned hearing howls coming from multiple directions, creating the feeling of being surrounded or triangulated.
Nothing was confirmed at the time, but it left a strong enough [music] impression that they returned. Just turned the camera off and we heard a sound out here when we heard it. It was not a howl, it was not a roar, it was a rumble.
It wasn't an airplane or anything. I know what you know, obviously.
I was born in 1971. I know what airplanes sound like.
But this is about the time of day last time whenever I was eating and something walked across behind us and it was just right at dark.
We heard something howl coming from over there and one from back over here.
And then one from back out here.
>> Yeah. As darkness sets in, the sound continues.
One of them points out a clear direction, suggesting it is coming from a fixed location rather than shifting randomly.
That detail changes the way it feels.
It is no longer just background noise.
It feels placed, controlled, and deliberate.
Let's see if y'all can hear this. Let me get over here where it's quiet.
>> [snorts] >> All right, I'm going to zoom in.
Zoom my camera in.
Go away.
I don't know what that is coming from down in that area.
Not so much over here.
Well, I don't know.
Instead of remaining inside, they make a choice.
They exit the van and move toward the wooded peninsula where the sound appears to be coming from.
Visibility drops right away.
Headlamps only illuminate small sections at a time.
Insects fill the air and the terrain becomes harder to interpret.
They continue forward anyway, trying to follow something they still have not seen.
There is no confirmation, only the same unclear direction drawing them further in. In most situations like this, the natural instinct is to stay put.
Stay in the van, stay in the light, and maintain distance from the unknown.
But here, they do the opposite.
They hear something they cannot explain and choose to move toward it, not because they understand it, but because they want to.
That decision changes everything from simply observing to actively stepping into it. Sometimes, the difference is not what you hear, but what you decide to do afterward.
And when you keep moving toward something you do not understand, at what point do you realize you may have gone too far?
The last unsettling video comes from Destination Unknown, an outdoor exploration channel focused on immersive hiking experiences in remote locations.
It is February 4th, 2023, in the Blue Ridge Mountain region near Asheville, North Carolina, United States. The group starts their hike along a secluded forest trail.
So, we went on a hike. We're in Asheville, North Carolina. We're just gradually It took us like forever to find this mountain, and it was beautiful. So, we're going up there. It was just us.
All of a sudden, I hear like footsteps behind me, and it's like this girl. It was what she said that like gave me and Chip the creeps. Weird. Like, we're like a half mile into this thing. Right. Out of nowhere, didn't see her following us.
So, all of a sudden, I look behind me.
I'm like, "Oh, you know me. I'm like, 'Miss Shy Girl,' right?" So, like, "Oh, hey." I'm like, "What's up?" I was like, "I'm so sorry. If you want to go ahead of us, go for it. We're just taking our time." So, it goes What did she say?
You're going my pace or something like that.
>> my pace. So, if you don't mind I'm just going to stick with you. I mean she didn't say >> If we're going your pace and we haven't seen nobody for like 20 30 minutes >> Yeah.
>> And now you're right up on us. I mean the trail head you start right from the street and then you go up. So there's no other way. At first everything has the tone of a standard travel vlog with steady walking along the path, casual conversation, and wide shots of the surrounding woodland.
As they move deeper, the environment becomes more confined.
The trail tightens, visibility decreases, and no other people are seen.
They are far enough in that any encounter should be expected to be either ahead of them or approaching from behind. I didn't see her when we got here.
Haven't seen nobody on this trail.
There's no other trails, there's nobody in it. Where'd that girl go, babe? Did we Did we leave her?
I don't know where she went, but she went somewhere else. She just disappeared. That's so creepy. Was she real?
Where would she have gone? I don't know.
It's crazy, man. I mean She literally disappeared.
Unless there's a different part to this trail. Then a woman is suddenly there behind them.
No footsteps are heard, no prior sighting. She is simply there walking the same trail after a long stretch where no one else had been visible.
The timing is what stands out. Later, they try to make sense of it. They go over the trail layout and surrounding terrain, noting how limited the movement options are.
The path is clearly defined, and even with reduced visibility, it should still allow nearby movement to be noticed.
But no one remembers seeing her leave.
By the end of the hike, the question is still unresolved. They revisit the moment focusing less on how she appeared and more on how she disappeared because that is what does not [music] fit.
Seeing someone on a trail is not unusual.
Even in remote areas, it is expected eventually. But, it normally follows a clear pattern. You notice them approaching.
You hear them coming. You pass each other, and they leave in a way that makes sense.
Here, that pattern breaks.
She appears without build-up, and disappears without a clear transition.
And once that sequence breaks, it is not the encounter itself that lingers, but the missing part in between. Sometimes, it is not what you see that feels strange, but what you never actually see happen.
So, if something like that happened right behind you, would you notice it in time, or only realize it after it was already gone? That's it for tonight.
Which moment creeped you out the most?
Drop it in the comments. Have your own story? Share it with us, and stay tuned.
The next one is even darker.
