Owls possess specialized adaptations for night hunting, including night vision 100 times better than humans due to their large tube-shaped eyes (occupying 5% of body weight), the ability to rotate their heads up to 270 degrees to compensate for fixed eyes, super sensitive hearing that detects microsecond delays between sounds in both ears, and silent flight enabled by comb-like feather edges that smooth airflow and soft fuzz that absorbs sound.

Owl - the assassins of the night. #fypAñadido:
What?
During the day, the sky may have many kings, but at night there's only one ruler, the owl.
These nightstalkers don't waste their energy under the sun. They prefer to strike when the world sleeps. [music] By day, they look like sleepy winged cats, but once darkness falls, they turn into masked assassins of the night.
>> [music] >> Thanks to powers humans can only dream of.
Their night vision is about 100 times better than ours. [music] That's because their eyeballs are huge, taking up nearly 5% of their body weight. If a human had that ratio, >> [music] >> each eye would weigh around 6 lb.
And here's the twist. Owl eyes aren't round, [music] they're tube-shaped.
Great for seeing in the dark, but terrible for moving around, since they can't roll their eyes. Instead, they rotate their entire head up to 270° like a possessed swivel camera.
Even blindfolded, they can still hunt.
>> [music] >> Their super sensitive hearing lets them locate prey just by detecting the microsecond [music] delay between sounds hitting their two ears. Combine that with their round fluffy face [music] acting like a built-in radar dish, and boom, they can lock onto a mouse rustling from yards away.
>> [music] >> When diving, that big flat face turns directly toward the sound, amplifying every squeak and shuffle. It's like turning on Dolby Atmos mode in real life. Only deadlier.
And as if that wasn't unfair enough, owls [music] have mastered silent flight. Their feathers act like noise-canceling tech. The comb-like [music] edges smooth airflow, while the soft fuzz absorbs sound. The result?
They swoop in completely silent. No whoosh, no [music] warning. So, as night deepens, the owl doesn't just wake up, it powers up.
>> [music] >> The darker it gets, the deadlier it becomes.
