This video explores how anime's distinctive visual style and storytelling elements are increasingly influencing Western animation, with Disney's new sports series 'Dragon Striker' cited as an example of this trend. The hosts discuss how anime's expressive character designs, emotional depth, and supernatural elements are being adopted by Western studios, while also analyzing various isekai anime scenarios and evaluating which would be most survivable for humans, with 'Slime' being considered the easiest due to its overpowered protagonist.

>> He's on assignment.
>> He's on assignment >> in Japan.
At night, at night. It's It's night time there, I think, though, right? Yeah.
>> No, no, it's morning. It's like early morning.
>> Yeah, it's like early morning. He just text me, actually. It's weird. Anyway, >> go to bed.

>> Fan service. I'm the winner of the Nick Freriedman lookalike contest out level.
>> Where is it that they usually have the lookalike contest in New York?
>> It's like Washington Square Park or something.
>> Square Park has become just like a lookalike contest.
>> It's costing me a lot to get there every week. Yeah, >> it's your boy Le Alex Murray >> and I'm Le President and together we are going to see just how powerful the effect of anime >> really is.
>> Okay. So, do you guys watch Blue Lock?
Did you ever watch it?
>> Oh, yeah. That show.
>> Hello.
>> Hello.
>> We We have the resident Blue Lock lover.
I just We noticed something a little interesting.
>> Mhm. which is Disney is kind of creeping into like a little bit of an anime narrative space with their new sports inspired series.
>> Mhm. It's called Dragon Striker. I've seen I've I started seeing this like last year, like maybe two years ago, and I think it's because they showed it at an or something a couple years ago, some animation an animation convention. But >> it looks very cool. And it it's funny before we got on I was like Disney XD still exists because it's going to be on Disney XD but um >> so many good memories.
>> Yeah, I know man.
>> XD.
>> Yeah. So, >> you know like the >> Yeah, the >> I don't know even know how you would put it. It's like >> page. The thing that's cool here is that it's it's blatantly inspired by anime like a lot of you like you see a lot of western animation is right now and it does have like and and Leah brings a blue lock because it it's Soccer.
>> Yeah, >> soccer and supernatural powers. So, there you go. This is interesting because we're starting to see a lot more serieses >> do this in terms of being more anime inspired whereas before like maybe we've only had a couple.
>> Avatar did it first for the western front in my opinion.
>> Avatar, Teen Titans, Teen Titans has Titans >> and fired stuff. So, do you guys think this is a trend that we're going to kind of see pick up again? Because I feel like it was happening and then when that age of animation kind of like petered off, >> we were getting more cow arts animation and now we're starting to see >> western animation adapt that anime kind of styling again. I think a couple things, but I think something that really like stands out to me is first of all the expressiveness of that type of animation style. You're able to really go there with emotions in the way that I don't really see as much in like a lot of different more western animation styles.
like the huge eyes, like the the expressions, the manorisms, it really kind of brings it to like a new unreal place. And then also, I'm thinking like more and more people are connecting with anime art, anime stories, and it's kind of like just adopting itself in >> to to more of like that western animation style because I wouldn't say like it's definitely anime inspired, but you can see like the flavors of, >> you know, >> right? I I see a little bit even like in the design of the worlds like a little arcane in there. I see a little bit of like but then I see like the Pokemony side of it too and the avatarish side.
>> So I'm a little split on it. But at the same time, I'm like, I don't really see, well, honestly, you guys can tell me if this is the wrong place to even bring this discussion up, but like >> when when we see like like the Batman anime, >> Yeah.
>> it's not really like it's sort of like not adopting like a DC comic style art.
>> It's like it's kind of a blend here. So like how how when are we getting to the point where it's like we're just like blending the mediums and blending the art styles?
>> So I think this is more of a question of less of blending the styles and more of what production studio gets it because when you think about like especially the recent Batman anime like those the the anime movies those were specifically done by Japanese production companies.
when they did the Batman Gotham Knight anthology series, those were done specifically by Japanese production companies, whereas you see like the newest Batman animator series that is done by an American animation company.
So, the difference like I don't know if we're ever I don't want to say ever, but getting a true blend of the two I don't think is going to necessarily happen in the way that we think it's going to.
>> Do you think there needs to be a level of care there? Well, I think it might come naturally as the people who are being put in charge of these projects even in the west are growing up with anime and they're just having that as their frame of reference for like what they think is cool or how they think the medium of animation can bring out the full extent of the story it's trying to tell. So I think the blending is coming in that way where the influence and the artistic vision is so influenced by this thing that has become ingrained in their lives that they can't really see it any other way. Uh and so they're seeing it with the like the western animation they're seeing. They're seeing it with the anime they grew up with. They're seeing it cuz in addition to all the things you listed, I'm getting like Inazuma 11 vibes from this of like not just the series but the the 3DS games too. just like this is an accessible way to take something that is undeniably cool and package it in a frame that is more open to people of all ages. Uh and also as everyone in the world is doing right now trying to capitalize on that World Cup hype. So I can get why you're pushing that forward right now. Cool thing about the studio too, uh the studio is a French studio who also is developing the upcoming Dreamland series and to give it even more of a uh Japanese connection here, Kevin Pinkin is doing the music for uh the show as well. So that in itself definitely has my attention. But I think we're going to continue to see this trend. I think we're going to see a lot more serieses that are are anime inspired or have like some kind of anime in its DNA, especially when you have like Avatar Studios coming back and they are very much >> put it in theaters.
>> They very much have said you know how much you know Avatar is inspired by Eastern cultures. So, it's like I guess it's like you know how like for a certain stretch of time classic Disney movies look the same and then we had a certain stretch of time where like the new animated Disney movies all had the same kind of like phenotype archetype animation style and now I think it's leaning more into like what kids are like vibing with these. It could be that simple but I think I think like there is a level of like care and homage that I would like to see as well. And you know, >> and I know that like Avatar Studios has even brought that topic up >> and I thought about this this week because Tom Kane just passed who, if you guys know, he was the the voice of Professor Utonium and Powerpuff Girls and Craig McCracken, who is a was a big part of Cartoon Network's history. A lot of his animation style really like paved the way for a lot of like the cow art stuff that we got.
>> So, >> it's I I I think you're right. I think it's a generational thing. I think it's, you know, the artists that are coming up and what they're inspired by and it drives specifically what we're seeing um as far as like animation goes >> and and I mean, you're also seeing specifically around sports, you're seeing athletes be more open with their fandom, too. And it's kind of an easy tie-in to get the athletes excited of like, oh, they've been talking about Naruto forever and do inspired goal celebrations, then to see >> your favorite artist favorite artist.
>> Exactly. Like it it's it's almost like a a come and get me plea to the athletes to be like, "Hey, you want to do some free promotion for us cuz this cool stuff's happening." So that's just that's smart budgeting.
>> Hell yeah. Well, we will keep track of this. Comes out June 9th, if I saw the date correctly, which is very soon.
>> Two days before the World Cup starts, I believe.
>> Oh, hell yeah. Yeah, it is. Cuz it starts on June. The timing. The timing.
But until then, we're going to catch up on what we're watching.
Right.
>> Right.
>> Right.
>> Hello everyone.
>> Hello every since you are the the rotating host today. Why don't we start with >> Yeah. And in true uh Nick fashion who recommended I started Gals can't be kind to otaku and I love it. It's sweet. It's also not just in like a fun anime tropey way, but it also just kind of reminds the viewer of what it's like to show someone something that you really like or find someone else out there that you may not expect that's a big fan of something you're also a big fan of and sharing that back and forth and just being along for the ride or introducing someone else to the deeper aspects of fandom. It's also cute and adorable and everything you would like to see out of like a >> anime high school romanceesque series.
So, it's silly, it's fun, and then it'll also be like, man, that's really cool.
So, I I think it's one that everyone should catch up on right now.
>> Yeah, that one's definitely on my list.
Gals can't be kind to u streaming on Crunchyroll.
>> Crunchyroll.
>> Crunchyroll. Leah. Well, funnily enough, I also have a Gatu themed.
>> Oh my god, I should have brought mine this week. The only reason I didn't bring mine this week is cuz Nick wasn't here.
>> Hit the button, >> right?
>> Gatus, you know, I love my Gatus. You know, I love Shugara. You know, I love Marin Kitawa. You know what I mean? And so I had to check out more than a married couple, but not lovers.
I honestly think I'm trying to remember back in my mind palace if Nick had recommended this one. Also, >> this seems like one he would recommend.
This is definitely >> I vaguely have a remembrance of that, but you know, he inundates us with every every romance has a romcom.
>> Love you. But this one is so so cute. It is about this bizarro scenario. It's like if someone took like home economics and like turned up the love meter cuz it's like their school is making them like you know how like when you have like I never experienced this but it's like a typical thing that like TV shows say like kids in American school do which is like take home like a little baby and you're supposed to make it not cry and stuff like that. It's like that except they're they have to take care of a marriage. So students get paired up with each other and they have to live in this fake house and like basically like play house and they get like a ranking system. It's like a class they have to take. They call it the practical like and the main the MC has a crush on a girl hopes that they get paired.
>> Spoiler alert, this is not too much of a spoiler alert. like 2 minutes or 10 minutes in like he actually gets paired with this Guaru who usually bullies him, but they each have like a crush that they want to end up like getting paired with later on because if you get a high score, you can like switch your partner among like the the top earners. So they're like, "So we have to be good at this." So they like hate each other, but they have to like learn to like love each other so that they can love the person that they want to be with. It's like a whole twisted like love triangle thing, but it's so funny and it does not make sense in any universe, but it's hilarious and I'm loving it so far. And the art style is so cute. It's like so bubbly and like vibrant. It's so cute.
>> And then main character figure figures out he has a gutter cake.
>> YEP. YEP. SPOILER ALERT. They kind of THEY THEY BE VIBING WITH the fantasy.
>> This sounds like something on the E network or something more than on Crunchyroll.
>> Catch it on Tuby.
>> Yeah. Oh my god. More than a married couple but not lovers now streaming on Crunchyroll.
>> Yeah. Check it out.
>> Hell yeah.
>> What about you, Lee?
>> I picked this one and I was totally picked this one before we picked our main segment today.
>> Yeah. Another guatu show.
>> A skeleton night in another world >> on Crunch Roll. I've been enjoying that one. What can I say? I'm a simple man.
>> So is Ark. He is also well I guess a simple skeleton in this.
>> Simple skelly.
>> He wants two things. He wants to eat and he just wants to acquire as much gold as possible.
>> I already have questions.
>> You said that's it. He just wants to eat and collect his monies. That's it.
>> But wait, if skeleton, how eat?
>> I don't know. But he shows up and like the first episode he's like, "Oh man, I'm hungry, but I don't have any money."
I'm like, "Bro, you don't have a stomach." Let's start there.
>> Bro, you don't have skin.
>> You don't you don't have organs.
Look, Brooke already paved this trail >> so Art could run. Yeah, >> it's but it's such a like a quirky like funny like because it it doesn't take itself seriously cuz you know there's there's like two spectrums of isekai takes itself way too seriously.
Doesn't take it seriously at all.
>> Yeah.
>> Vending machine.
>> Vending machine. Love vending machine.
It's not serious at all. Who's going to fight a superpowered vending machine?
Nobody I know of. But he's gaining XP by selling people the Picari sweat. Um, but like he ends up becoming like, you know, the Ark ends up becoming like the savior of like the elf kingdom. And I'm like halfway through the season now, but it's it's just so hilarious to me what the setup is. And he just he's like, "Oh, I'm a skeleton. I must have like is here." Okay, cool. And that's it. He just rolls with it and just starts accepting mercenary jobs and like beating down crooks and stealing rich people's money and like it's >> I'm like, "All right." And then he gets like a like a like a spirit pet along the way. Um, >> sure, why not?
>> Who? Yeah, sure. Because why not? And then, you know, there's >> a familiar.
>> There are so many like bone or skeleton puns in this show at like every turn. At one point he's going after these crooks and Arc says, "I have a bone to pick with you." And I'm like, "Stop. Stop.
Please. Where?" Stop.
>> That hit me right in the funny bone.
>> But it is a fun series. So if you are a fan of Isakai, definitely definitely definitely give this a watch just cuz it's it's >> super funny. And I've been watching the dub cuz I've been like watching it while I'm like, you know, doing work and stuff and it's so the dub is actually very very very good. So shout out to the the dub cast. So yeah, that's that's that's me. I also finished Cultro.
>> Oh, you finished it.
>> You loved it.
>> The tears, bro.
>> We should talk about it more when it gets back.
>> Yes, the tears, bro. So, yes, Skeleton Night in another world.
>> He's He's going through things. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Going through stuff.
>> And we'll be talking more about later on in the show, too.
>> Are you also binge watching our top anime picks for this week? Drop us a review and let us know cuz we love to hear what you guys are watching. Yes.
And if you want to check out our current obsession, you can find the links to the anime serieses in our episode description.
>> Watch mine first.
>> You're the guest. Well, I guess. Yes.
Watch his first because he's the guest.
That's fine.
>> Next up, we are breaking down all the anime news of the week to make you a better and smarter and faster and stronger fan. Stick around.
It is the news, y'all. Let's jump into the headlines of the week.
All right.
>> I know you want to take this one.
>> Hell yeah. This is our big one for the week, y'all. Or one of them. I got some Gundam announcements. Y'all like Gundam?
So, it's the 50th anniversary. Wild.
>> That's of Gundam. Insane.
>> Oh, man. And with that 50th anniversary, we are getting some surprises with it.
We know the live action is coming up from Netflix. They just announced a bunch of the cast, but we are also getting a new Gundam Wing project.
>> Let's go.
>> I mean, what do you want out of it?
Like, what what do you guys >> 10 hours of Hero UI laughing?
>> Being an absolute maniac.
>> Yeah, absolutely. I love like Endless Walts is probably one of my favorite like anime movies ever. Yeah. mostly because I feel like it capped off Gundam Wings so well, but then also it did a really good job of reddesigning all of the core like Gundams. So, I would love to see like another step in that like hey, what have they been doing for the last however many time skips and then like >> what's the new Gundams look like?
Because that's going to be a big thing for the series. I mean, especially when you see like Wing Gundam show up for the first time and like in the in the SWAT form and it's just these big wings.
>> It's like the coolest thing ever. Yeah.
>> So, >> it needs to happen.
>> And I'm still just so curious about what this is even going to be >> as a liveaction series. I just I I'm don't know. I'm skeptical, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
>> Yeah, cuz they haven't really said which era they're doing. They haven't picked a specific Gundam series as far as >> cool to go like retro tech with it.
>> I think that's what they're doing. I think it's going to be like based off of like the original Gundam series is what it looks like because really the only thing we know of of is the casting.
>> Noah Centino, hope I'm saying his name right, who's going to be in Street Fighter. He's uh going to co-star with Sydney Sweeney. Um so that is a >> pairing. Yeah, but we will see.
>> I like some of the Gaga songs. What does she know about cameras?
We we we will see.
>> Uh and I I they also released this like 5 minute retrospective video I guess you could call it as part of this. Also shout out to them for helping people plan way ahead of time because it's not the 50th now. It's coming in a few years and they're like get ready. Mark your calendars. So I appreciate that. We're we're busy. Like we can't be ready for everything. But at the end of this video that they made where it's essentially just like people looking at how cool Gundams are. Like when they showed all of the protagonists from all the Gundam series over the years, like wow, there are so many bangers in this catalog.
>> So like Alex mentioned, the actual 50th is in 2029. But like he said, they're just prepping us for prepare to spend your money. I'm just saying if you like if listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen if you are into gumpla prepare your wallets because I'm sure they're just they're gonna they're gonna flood the block and we all going to be messed up we just going to be messed up together >> let's see how top gun it gets >> also part of this we're getting a remaster project of the 79 TV anime but then also there is a >> Gundam seed project that will be a part of this too which is going to be a prequel movie called Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom Zero.
Give me all the Gundam. Give it Give Give me all the Gundam. I want it all.
>> Yeah, keep it coming.
>> Keep it coming.
>> Alert your financial adviser that there is this huge thing that you're going to need to invest in in 2029.
>> Hey, uh I'm going to need to uh set some money. I got I got robots to buy.
>> I'm excited for this. I'm always excited for new Gundam stuff. We'll see. I'm sure we'll get more announcements as we go, especially cuz Hathaway soon or two, right?
>> Yes.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Speaking of live actions, >> we got another one coming, but it's a stage play.
>> That's true.
>> Princess Monoke is getting a stage play and we got some first looks. Honestly, way more classical than I was expecting.
>> It really is. I was >> very classical stylings to the hair, the makeup, the costumes. Like, yeah.
>> I mean, they look good. Like, they look fantastic. I was not expecting it to be this traditional, though.
>> Yeah. Honestly, it's very like what is it? They just there was just a new anime out that talked about this ancient like sto it was like a storytelling art.
>> Are you talking about a kanachi? Is that >> I think so. Yeah, it's kind of giving that.
>> Yeah, cuz there it looks like it's a it's a kabuki stage. So that >> Yeah, there you go. So that that could that could play into it.
>> Yeah, no US dates yet.
>> I don't I don't know if we're getting US dates.
>> I I'm holding on for hope because look, we got Sailor Moon the live show. We got Attack on Titan, the live show. Both were very very good. Both were very very different.
>> We're also starting to get more like anime like orchestra like tour stops too. So maybe >> maybe >> Yeah. I'm >> ultimate come to Brazil.
>> I'm curious to see what this is like as a stage play cuz this movie in particular is really messed up.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh so I don't I don't know how you >> more blood than I expected. bring that to the stage in a compelling way. I'm sure they can do it, but my goodness, that's a challenge.
>> Mhm. Well, we'll have to see.
>> Hell yeah.
>> We've been talking a lot about the East and the West, and this story is no different because Hollywood is getting into the anime and Kawaii game yet again with Hello Kitty because the creators of Moana 2 and Ultra Man Rising have just signed on to the project.
Insane.
>> Yeah.
>> Ultra. Okay. Ultram man and Hello Kitty.
And now are they in in the same universe now? What's happening?
>> Yeah. She's not a cat and she's an Ultra Man.
>> Well, she's not a cat at all.
>> Yeah, exactly. That's what I mean.
>> She's like a magical girl or something, which make it make sense. But peace and love, >> they make it make sense.
>> We're going to let We're going to listen to the lore. We'll let the Lord we the Lord we will let the Lord lead us. This is what I said when we were talking at the top of the show like everyone wants to jump on that anime swag and jock that swag.
>> I don't I don't know how I feel about this. Maybe because I don't know enough Hello Kitty lore to be >> silly. But I don't know how I feel about it because like I because I know they had the like old Hello Kitty like anime or like animated series and I know they've been like shorts and stuff like that. So I don't know how I feel about this >> in particular.
>> The license for Hello Kitty is >> it's crazy. It's wild.
>> It's insane. But they do so much cool stuff >> which you wouldn't think would be cool because you're like that doesn't match and then it happens. Like I saw like I don't remember where I was but somebody was wearing the the Gingiito Hello Kitty collab tee and I'm like this looks incredible.
>> How does this make sense? Like it just it doesn't but it does. And the only thing I can think here is that like almost the same reaction I have when they said they were doing the Mario movie. It's like >> what? And that's what I was thinking about.
>> It turned out both of them great in my opinion or even Sonic for that matter.
>> Yeah. I was wondering like are they gonna go like because Mario it was a little tongue and cheek. It was a little like the the representation of it was like it was silly. It was like more I don't know how to describe the humor.
Like almost ironic.
>> And I'm wondering if they're going to go that same direction with Hello Kitty cuz if you remember back Hello Kitty had a show. They had a a cartoon and it was very like a kid show.
>> Yes. Very much so.
>> Like very much like Friendship is Magic type beat.
>> So I'm interested to see like how like what flavor they decide to give this and like the kind of tone that they're going to set.
>> Mhm.
>> But yeah, >> and rounding us off today, probably one of the weirdest stories that has ever crossed our dash. I literally was like, "What the heck is this?"
>> The collab you didn't know you needed.
>> Do we need it?
>> I think we do need it.
>> Do you need it? So, the anime film King of Prism, your endless call to hold a dual cheer screening with the Last Shark NATO.
>> What?
>> Of course.
>> What? Why? Why not? I mean, make it make sense, but at the same time, >> I need you to see the two of these KVs next to each other.
>> It's unhinged. It's very unhinged.
It's just this this I don't even I mean, I guess it's a sci-fi anime, I'm guessing, next to just Shark Nato. Like, I don't Okay, we're Okay, I You know what? I think that's >> kind of awesome. We live in a wonderful world. Yeah, I'm ready for the popcorn buckets for this one. Like what do they look like?
>> Glittery sharks is what I'm guessing.
Glittery sharks.
>> This is what Nicole Kid was watching.
>> Lisa Frank >> in the AMC spot.
>> We come to this place for magic.
>> Oh my god. They retired it. You can't use it anymore. You can't use >> Did they really retire it?
>> Yes, they retired it. You can't use it anymore.
>> Dang.
>> They'll bring it back for this DMCA.
>> You have to pay Nicole Kidman royalties every time you use it or something like that. Okay, that was it for our wonderful and weird news for the week.
Um, but there is so much more that we have in store that you are missing out on. If you want the latest info on what is hot in the world of anime, so hot, check out Crunchyroll News. The link is in the episode description to all of these stories. So, you really got no excuse for missing out.
>> True. We'll be checking.
>> It's right there.
>> Yeah, we'll be checking.
Next up, we're diving deep with our feature segment. The truck [ __ ] sent us where?
>> Mhm.
>> A guide to surviving isai anime's deadliest worlds.
>> Yeah. Will we make it?
>> We'll see. Get out of the road.
>> We didn't hit the isekai button earlier when you were talking about your pick.
>> We didn't.
>> We were saving the battery. Was that I got to say got to save the trocoon battery.
>> YOU THINK BATTERIES GROW on trees?
>> Do you like isekai? Do you love isai? I I love it. I love Do you ever wonder what it would be like to slip into a world of your favorite world traveling hero? Of the three of us, I do consider myself an isekai expert, >> I would say. So, >> our feature segment this week will not only put my skills to the test, but also test my brave co-host.
Brave. An overstatement for myself.
>> Ready? Whatever weapons you got, stock up on them potions.
>> It's time. Make sure you got enough blue.
>> Enough blue.
>> World number one.
>> Mhm. We setting the scene.
>> You awaken within a labyrinth as a weak monster. M >> around you lurks venomous monsters, demon armies, ancient dragons, and beasts who grow stronger with each kill.
>> Ooh, >> a warning carved into the stone before you reads. Those who enter the maze become its next meal.
>> Dude, this is like Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
>> Above you, the gods wage war to trick fate itself. But down below, none of that matters. To survive, you adapt and outwit monsters much stronger than you.
Welcome to So I'm a Spider. So what >> will >> So what >> you survive?
>> Hell no.
>> No. This is a bad match. This is a bad match.
>> Make it to dungeon one. Girl, scary dungeon. What am I going to be holding a lamp like a torch? What?
I do like the smell of like a musty basement though. Do you know what I mean?
>> You know what I'm talking about?
>> Like weapons.
>> Weapons. Oh, you mean like the horror movie weapons? I was like >> there's a lot going on bringing weapons to this particular >> basement that you use. I mean, coming from the Midwest, I mean, it's a basement you use for storage. It has stuff and it just has a basement smell.
>> That good smell.
>> Yeah.
>> They need to bottle that up.
>> Can you Can you make a candle out of Midwest basement?
>> Yeah. Give me that. I've been flooded once based on >> Axe body spray if you're listening.
>> No, no, >> DON'T DON'T LET AXE HAVE THIS IDEA.
>> ALEX, what about you? How long do you think you're surviving?
>> Maybe 20 seconds. I am not equipped for this.
>> Yeah, this I I'm not I'm not built to be a weak monster. I'm not built to be a monster. I What? Like what is that? Like a I What weak monster would I be? Am I a spider? Technically, yeah, you'd be a spider.
>> So, I'm going to be the mushroom from Delicious and Dungeons.
>> I'm going to get killed immediately cuz I don't like spiders. So, I'd disgust myself.
>> That's what I was going to say. I'm not a spider person either, unless it's like Spider-Man, >> which isn't really a spider. Well, I mean, depending. But, I mean, yeah, somewhere in the multiverse.
>> It it would it it is true.
>> She love >> I would spend more time freaking out the fact I'm a spider instead of trying to figure out what's going on. So, I don't I don't know if I'd I don't know if I'd make this one.
>> Yeah. Not being humanoid, I think, would really throw me for a loop.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. I'd be like learning how to walk with like eight legs.
>> Your eyes multiply. Like you got to >> It gave me shivers thinking about like >> glasses already. Do my glasses go away.
Like I don't I don't understand. Yeah.
Uh so world >> you have like eight pairs of glasses.
>> I don't know how that works. So world one. I think we're all failing that one.
Congratulations.
>> I'm cooked. Oops.
>> Sorry team.
>> But let me let me let me set up the next one. We'll see if we'll survive. Okay.
You recall your name, but nothing else.
>> Okay.
>> Waking up at the edge of an abandoned village, there is nothing on your mind but a primal urge to survive.
>> Survive.
>> I will survive.
In the forest across the way, the shadow of death lingers as goblins and monsters wait to hunt you. The longer you wait, the more the fear of forgetting yourself entirely sets in. To live, you must pick up the blade and follow fellow strangers into the unknown.
Welcome to Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash.
What do you think, guys? Will you survive?
>> You know what?
>> This kind of sounds like sentence to be a hero a little bit. It does. But if I'm like specifically tasked with like I only know who I am and I know that I have to maybe like >> rocks rock the out of some people >> I'm throwing some hands. Yeah, we we throwing some hands. I I think I make it a little bit, you know. Yeah, I think I'd be all right.
>> This one at least seems more manageable.
And maybe I could find like a quill and some parchment.
>> Maybe scribble some notes down so I remember like like turn it into momento but like also isekai forms. you become Vololo from Boulders Cape. So, I I mean I think I think there's a chance I could definitely take some goblins. Maybe not monsters, but those seem a bit more manageable.
>> But yeah, I mean you'll be able to pick up weapons. I mean, you might have be able to find some kind of transport.
Like, yeah, come on, man.
>> Form a party.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Get get me a bard that's playing like you >> Papa Roach in the background.
>> Yeah.
>> Why don't bards play hardcore music?
>> I don't know. But that I mean, you want to win a fight that you just got to get the right.
>> Yeah, that's true. Maybe I found my role. So, I would survive a long time by not being in combat.
>> Hell yeah. Hell yeah.
>> I think we got it. Think we got it.
>> It's a waiting game. Give us your best VA.
>> Yeah. Number three. This one I I think H. We'll see. We'll see. Summoned as a hero to a new world. You're thrust into exile as the goddess who called for you abandons you without a second thought.
What the hell?
>> Yeah. Sensed to life in a fantastical wasteland, a new fate awaits you. You watch as ancient dragons lord over forgotten wastelands. And the settlements on your horizon are brimming with unsteady allies and territorial monsters. There are gods out for blood as they crave a world that will never know peace.
>> The war you were meant to stop is now IN MOTION. This is the world of Sukumichi Moonlight Fantasy. What do you think?
Okay.
>> Sounds like Godzilla.
>> You brought me here >> and you're just going to be like, you know what? Never mind.
>> Oh, I got to go.
>> I got to I got No, >> I'm I'm >> Yeah, >> retribution is coming. I'm I'm My pound of flesh will be got.
>> Yeah.
>> So, yeah, >> I sounds like I'm very vengeful when it comes to a very vengeful person.
>> I mean, that is a terrible scenario to be in. like you're like, you know, I was chilling with this goddess and then I basically got >> abandoned.
>> My abandonment issues could never >> I mean, I've played enough Monster Hunter. This one seems more in line with something more relatable like big big bad monsters.
I mean, you can you can manage that if you've played the game enough.
>> Yeah. So I I think I think this one's at least systemswise I I would understand the job. Don't have to worry about my memories going. Just worry about surviving uh and hanging out with my palico.
>> Don't have to be a spider.
>> Yeah.
>> Are you either of you familiar with this anime? Have you watched it?
>> Sukumichi. Um it's on my not watch.
>> Does the MC like are they powerful? Like can they wield a sword?
>> Yes. I know he is a weapon wielder. I don't know how powerful he is. I'm going to have to watch and I'll report back >> cuz cuz if I if I can enter with those skills, it might be kind of fun. I'm not going to lie. But yeah, let us know if you think you would survive these many real life isekai scenarios >> or if there's an isekai you think you would survive.
>> Yeah. Yeah. What's What is the easiest isekai to survive and the hardest is to survive?
>> Slime is probably the easiest one. I mean that dude that dude is overpowered.
Remy is OP. So I mean just just throwing it out there. Also because we didn't do it the whole segment.
>> You button.
>> Got to hit it. Gotta hit the isekai button.
>> Necess one big >> Yeah. One thing I reveal my isekai button tattoo.
>> I don't care how much you love isekai anime. Surviving them is downright impossible.
>> Depending. You can get a good party. Let me know. Anyway, >> don't count me out. You might count me out. Don't count me out just yet. Next, we are hearing from you in fan service. Yum.
This week, we're hearing you all loud and clear when it comes to your favorite gummy snacks. The representation y'all are showing is fierce, and we love it.
We did >> Uhhuh.
>> tell everybody that you had to come with your snacks, >> specifically gummies in fan service.
>> Fan service. And for context, this is because we were talking about the blue Scooby-Doo gummies and how >> the new ones aren't the same.
>> Bring them back. They're not.
>> And then some people had some strong opinions.
>> They really did. They really did.
>> Magi the Wonder. Uh, peak anime fruit snack potential. That time I got reincarnated as a slime.
>> Hell yeah.
>> Remy Ru in slime form. Already the perfect fruit snack shape, but you can also get a little fancy and add some of the other characters, too. Possible character plus flavor suggestions. Oh wow. Okay. Remiu mixed berry.
>> Binimaru cherry x grape suna summer strawberry limited edition. Hell yeah.
Gabe sour apple that fix it fits Milum.
Uh watermelon vdora blue raspberry.
Diablo blood orange. I see it there.
Rememberous uh is lemon lime.
>> Unfortunately lemon lime gummies are never good but go off. My only I would just flip Raymeru and Vdora. I feel like Ramaru has to be Blue Raspberry, but I'm all in for all this.
>> This is incredible.
>> I'm drooling all over this microphone.
So, sorry.
>> Let's stop right here. Best idea. Let's stop. No, I'm I'm I'm joking. No, this is great. So, if the anime gods choose to bless us, this would be my top pick for sure.
>> Yeah. And we got some other suggestions, too. So, Emily says, "If I want an anime to become a fruit snack, I think the show would be My Hero Academia." That's a good one.
>> The shapes would be Isuku, Bakugo, Todoroki, Uraraka, All Might, and the catch saying plus ultra.
>> Just a plus ultra gummy.
>> Yeah, I Yeah.
>> I feel like this we're getting into like this is the next generation of Flintstone vitamins, and I'm all here for it.
>> Eat your greenies, kids.
>> Oh my god. So, I think >> Bakugo could be dual flavored, too.
>> Like a little spice. Like a little kick.
>> Sweet and spicy. Toto. It'd be Toto.
>> Oh, you're right. Toto. Oops. Who did I say?
>> You said you said Bakugo, but Bakugo could be like a like a little spicy >> little like pepper.
>> Some some chamoy. Yeah. You know, >> there you go. Mhm. Is begging for gummy snacks that allow you to build your own pro hero.
>> The shape of All Might's eyebrows meeting the gummy of his I was eye bags would be so unreal.
So unreal.
>> That would be delicious. Mhm.
>> And we have one more. Leah, do you want to take that one?
>> We have someone who was here at the start >> cuz we were talking about the announcement of the new the new gummies >> and the dub bub. What's up? said the OG's remember the DBZ fruit snacks back in the day.
>> So seeing them really makes me happy. So they were here when it began and for the revival of the fruit snack moment. As someone that is 30 plus, how's everybody's knees feeling? Because that was a that was a throwback. I'm not asking because mine currently hurt, but our showrunner Megan wants to do a poll of everybody and make it clear that >> Piccolo was >> the elite gummy in that pack. So, >> yeah, I remember having those in my lunch.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I And that's the like bring back character fruit snacks. Okay. I don't see enough character fruit snacks when I walk in the grocery store. Not for me, but for the children. The children demand it.
>> Yeah.
>> Bring back milk with lunch. I'm just kidding.
>> Bring back milk with lunch. Bring back the Mexican pizza. That wasn't Mexican pizza. We don't know what it was, but we ate it.
>> Bosco sticks.
>> A rectangle of pizza.
>> Yeah, >> bears have had a chokeold on gummy snacks for too long.
>> It's true.
>> Yeah.
>> It's always bears or shaped like it's always shaped fruit or it's bears. The butterfly ones are good, too.
>> That's But I mean, how did >> Does somebody Does somebody know how bears just became like >> Yeah.
>> the end all be all to like, "Hey, you're getting gummies or you're making gummies. It has to be a bear. They say it has to be a bear."
>> Is that what the bear is about? Right.
>> The show.
>> The bear. It's about >> origination of >> It's about like like making gummies and not an actual like like kitchen. Yeah.
Okay.
>> I'd be You know what? I might actually watch that. The science has revealed that bears bears are the most ideal animal for gummy formation.
>> I also thought that's what that cartoon of gummy bears. Cousin, it's got to be a bear.
>> All this DBZ talk does have me feeling a little bit nostalgic for for me the early thousands cuz I was only alive for three years of the '9s.
>> Don't say that. But drop a comment if you if you miss something something else related to anime from the '90s.
